Not exactly expecting the new nickname, Rose looked up to Dawson, giving him another awkward smile. She then looked to Juniper, a sympathetic expression on her face; she could definitely understand the wallet bit, especially now.
"I've never had quinoa..." mused Rose as she looked over the booth full of delicacies -- she had to admit it all looked amazing. Would... would they accept her for work, here? She knew this was a job fair, but how did you go about doing such things? Every fiber of her being knew she needed to find some way to make money or else she was back on the streets...
How would you even ask?
Instead, for now, Rose stuck close to Dawson, standing proper at a mere 5'3" and the weight of a feather.

Shun raised his brow at Max as he picked up a ranger brochure, but he said nothing of it. Instead, he just grunted at Chel. "No. I am fine," he muttered to her before flatly asking, "Should you not be looking for a job right now rather than fussing over me anyway?"

"No apologies necessary," Jeremiah replied smoothly. Still holding hands with Algie. "The only thing you can hope for is that your student is in capable hands." Autumn was there - and she was a princess - as well as Zac. Both of whom Jeremiah did trust. ... but also knew that they could both be just as reckless as he could be. Not that that was a bad thing. Sometimes you needed it.

"Should be, but am I gonna? Naw." She moved to sit against the side of the table, which sort of hilariously made her look like a prop for the table. She could see the tagline already- "come see the kind of criminals we apprehend!"
"Don't really think most places would take me neither." She raised an eyebrow at him, inviting him to disprove her point.

"Oi. Get off the damn table," Shun hissed. His fingers twitched slightly as he stared her down. "Well you would make better use of your time for one. So go on and make yourself a productive member of society already."

Hux smiled in response to the woman's attention. "Red, of c-" Oh. He paused mid-sentence, watching with a curious half smirk as she passed on the responsibility of booth-tending to a man that introduced himself as Bentley and quickly began telling Hux about the difference between the bottles that, too, had been transferred into his care. The shaggy-haired male allowed himself one somewhat long glance at the retreating woman's a** as she sashayed away from him in her high heels. Then, with a polite and mildly interested smile, he turned his attention to the booth's new purveyor. When all was said and done, he ended up choosing the white rather than the red. He held the plastic sample cup up to his lips and took a small sip; relishing in the taste of the wine as it flowed across his taste buds. It was exactly like Bentley had described, and went perfectly with the small hunk of cheese that had been passed unto him. Hux shoved yet another flyer into the back pocket of his jeans, thinking that- maybe- Margaery would be interested in visiting the shop with him some time in the future. Then, with a impish grin and a quick farewell; Huxtable Keighley was, once again, on the prowl. He hummed a soft tune to himself as he moved through the meandering crowd, occasionally taking a sip of wine and tossing a pretzel from the Sweet Spot into his mouth. In comparison to the alcohol, they tasted especially sweet. elkbones thanks for the quick interaction heart

"Ain't gonna break it. I don't weigh that much." She poked her stomach to emphasize her point. A little chubby but not too bad.
But she did stand up and stretch herself out. "I'll come back with coffee. You like yers black right?" Chel took notice of the tiny details like that.

"That is not the point. Get off of the table."
Shun let out a breath when Chel did comply. Rather than answer her question, he just glowered at the pink haired one in silence. Someone was in a fairly bad mood, it seemed.

"Ooookay. Real people skills this one." She looked to Max and Finn, not knowing their names but willing to offer the same for them. "You guys want anythin'? They got a whole table of booze down there, I'm jus' sayin'."

Even if he wasn't actually interested in becoming a taxidermist, Connor still listened to the answers that the booth operator gave to both Jack and himself. It was, in fact, a fairly interesting topic that he deemed worth his time to listen to, especially as he was often fascinated by the inner workings of most organisms, though humans moreso than others. Maybe that was just a sign that he should quit his venture towards becoming a paramedic and switch to something where he would get to actually cut people open, instead. A coronor didn't have to be a doctor, did they? Thoughts for a later time. While Jack's picture snapping was slightly distracting, Connor remained focused. "Fascinating." He drawled, and then, as a quick follow up to Jack's question. "I'm honestly curious as to how many customers you typically get for any of it. Is this quite a popular practice, around here?" He wouldn't be surprised if it was. Ashdown was kind of a strange place with even stranger people.

Finn watched the exchange with a raised eyebrow, glad that this nonsense was going on on the police department's table and not his own. On second thought - the cops could have this girl. "I'm, uh, fine," he said, watching her warily. He turned towards detective Kuroda, as if to say - where did you find this one?

Diana had wandered into the conversation, prepared to give a little speech and hand out coupons to the Thrifty Nickle when she had realized that there was no need to. Of course Chel already frequented the place enough as it was and never bought anything, and the officers....they really didn't seem the type. "Officers really sorry about my friend and all, I've got some coupons if you want them," she rambled off, sliding up to the taller woman and rapping and arm around hers. " Chel, are you trying to find a job, or get us kicked out?"

Amelia had been thrilled about the job fair. It was a chance for her to branch out and hopefully get lucky enough to acquire a job of some sort. At this point she was desperate and needed to make some quick cash. Maybe she could sell her organs in a back room for some money. The darker side of job fairs. She had instinctively wandered close to the food booths, hoping for free samples of any sort. That was acceptable too, right? Free samples and potential job offers. She'd even worn a cute dress to make herself more presentable for potential employers. Now she just had to go out and interact with others. Yeah. A good plan. She'd lived there her whole life and still had troubles interacting with everyone. Then again no one really seemed interested in her plans to make it rich. Quote: Mel will interact with anyone. o/

The job fair is in full swing. Each booth has seen at least a handful of nervous college seniors, and who knows how much of other job-seekers; the food- and drink-bearing booths bear the brunt of it, because college seniors are a hungry sort. Somewhere, the arrangers of the event are high-fiving and drinking booze. Who wouldn't? It's a success. Except it goes bad with a shriek that cuts through the noise and cuts out with an awful, quiet whine. There's a mad rush of bodies away from the information center, disjointed cries coming forth: Oh god! he's dead, he's, he's having a seizure, someone get something under his head, what's happening to him-- There's a young man seizing on the floor, foaming at the mouth, bones cracking and warping. A woman in scrubs is trying to catch his head and keep it from the floor, but he's flailing too much, and then there's just. Blood. A flailing, clawed hand catches her just wrong. She stumbles back, hands going to her throat, to the gushing arterial gash. The young man goes still for a moment, face painted in dark blood. Then he lunges to his feet and runs. The time is now 1700 hours.PLEASE HOLD FOR MOD INSTRUCTIONS.

THE RUNDOWN In 24 hours, this thread will split into two: the fast route, tasked with finding the rogue were, and the slow route, tasked with injury management and finding a way out past the police cordon. This meta will last until both routes have completed their objectives. The Fast route must catch the rogue were. The Slow route must find a way out of the building while keeping all members of their team alive. "There's only one injured person," you may be saying. "There's just the nurse. Right?" WRONG. Players, you will be rolling to determine if you were injured by the escaping were, and this is how it will be done. Roll 2 6-sided die. Your first die determines whether you were injured or not: odds mean you're injured, evens mean you're fine. Your second die determines the severity of your injuries, and the scale looks like this: 1 Lightly injured, functional. This is something that needs care, but once bandaged or splinted will be just fine. Sprained limbs, minor cuts on the extremities, etc. 2. Moderately injured, functional. This needs care, and needs to be observed, but should pose no problems. More significant slashing injuries, getting shoved into something and jarred, etc. 3. Moderate but debilitating injury. This needs care and observation, and in addition poses a risk for worsening. Concussions, broken bones, etc. 4. Unharmed! Lucky. 5. Moderately injured, functional. This needs care, and needs to be observed, but should pose no problems. More significant slashing injuries, getting shoved into something and jarred, etc. 6. Seriously injured. Stabilizing you should be first priority. You're probably not good for much afterwards, and you're probably going to be out of commission for the next couple weeks. As Fast route players must be combat ready, any 6s they roll will be downgraded to 1s or 2s. This is not a punishment for slow route players; it is a consideration given to those who prefer a faster-paced RP setting! The actual placement and type of your character's injury, should your character join the ranks of the injured, is up to you. THE ROUTES WILL SPLIT ON FRIDAY, MAY 20, AT 0000 HOURS PST. That's midnight, folks! Let's get this show on the road!
