User Image "My zodiac sign is the Mirror, and I definitely have a lot of qualities that fall under that sign. What I don't agree with, though, are the weaknesses. I don't feel like I'm arrogant, manipulative, vain, self-serving, or any of those bad traits." The pup paused and frowned. "At least, I hope I'm none of those things, I don't think I've ever been any of those things. Everything else, though, is pretty spot on." Frostbite smiled and wagged his tail, he actually liked his zodiac and thought that even if some of the good traits didn't quite fit him just yet, they were things to aspire too. The bad ones, though, he'd be trying to stay away from. No one wants a manipulative friend.

User Image "My Zodiac is the Spear. I don't know how well I embody the positive traits, but quite a few of the negative ones describe me pretty well. I definitely wouldn't be classified as 'individualistic'...but I guess 'courageous' could totally be me." Kieran shrugged holding their hands out in a 'who knows' gesture. "I don't think the zodiac actually means much, though. We each decide how to behave, and we can't blame birth times on our decisions. Nobody and no thing makes me do anything I don't want to do, and if I don't want to follow my sign...well, then, I wont." The demon sat back down, deciding that now would probably be best to let it go to the next freshling.

The other Juniors in his Social Studies class were happy to discuss magics, many talking about their family histories or racial aptitudes. Goblins were keen on magic, and certainly employed it in a variety of needs Above. They just didn't...talk about it. Especially not to outsiders.

Yet, here at the Academy, Galan was the outsider now. He had been raised in the Goblin community to never speak to outsiders about the Goblin ways, but here he was surrounded by every other race imaginable. What would his community say if he told them about Goblin magics? What would his teacher say if he didn't speak up? He couldn't fail the class because he refused to do the assignment on cultural grounds...

Galan cleared his throat, the blush rising as the students turned to look his way. He shrank in his seat, horribly embarrassed. "Erm...We... Goblins, I mean, we specialise in Illusions." He swallowed hard. This much wasn't a secret, this much should be safe to reveal... "We mostly use them to protect ourselves, like...er...." He was embarrassed enough as it was, and he sincerely wished his budding magics came faster and easier than they did so he could disappear right then and there.

Squeezing his eyes shut and focusing like his adopted grandmother had taught him as a Freshling, he felt the energy pooling around him, but it would take too long, and there were too many people staring at him for him to successfully manage the glamour. It was probably for the best, as he didn't need to make any more of a spectacle of himself than he already was!

Lestari flipped through her textbook and snorted softly. Her own race was somewhat predictable and boring. She seemed to be an exception to the rule as she felt very different from others of her race. "Well, litches are kind of boring," she started. Since the Daydreams had infiltrated Below, she figured she might as well learn more about them, so she chose one of their races for the assignment. "But goblins seem pretty neat, and a little similar to litches. Goblins tend to have large families, and kids are treasured. They don't really seem to care about who's blood related and who's not because everyone is family so that's all that matters to them. They usually imbue stones with friends as well as lovers, but nobody sees it as cheating." Which was weird, if you asked her. When she found her special someone (or someones, who knew?), she expected them to be faithful to her (or to their group).

Crux tapped her lip as she thought about herself and her zodiac sign. "Well, I'm a spear, and from what Dani said, it fits me pretty well!" she beamed, happy to be able to talk about her adoptive mother in class. She tried to remember what Tamandani had told her when the three of them had talked about astrology. "Spears are courageous, eager, confident, and ten....tena....tenacious!" she said, proud to have remembered the word Dani had used. "Just like me!" What she didn't say was that the impulsive trait fit her as well, especially when her golden eyes found something shiny and her fingers itched to grab it. "Spears can also be short tempered and aggressive," she said with a much more sober face. "I think I can get a bit....testy," she admitted, "but I don't think I'm aggressive. I think that everyone's different, no matter what their sign is." She took her seat again, and gave an encouraging smile to Maylis as it was her turn next.

Maylis bit her lip as her turn came. Crux's smile did little to encourage the shy imp as she stood at her desk. "I-I'm a ch-chalice," she spoke quietly. "Chalices a-are indep-pendent." She shook her head a bit and glanced at Crux. The purple imp was definitely not that. "Th-they're p-perceptive, a-and honest. H-honest fits me, I g-guess...b-but I'm not independent, and I d-don't think I'm v-very perceptive." Chalices had a tendency to be romantic, and she thought that might fit her but she was too young to know that quite yet. "They're a-also s-self-aware, and m-moody. Self-conscious," she said, fidgeting in her place. She hoped that was enough, because she was sitting back down now. Her heart raced and her limbs shook; she was sure that if she'd had to stand up much longer...well, she wouldn't have been standing much longer. She looked over at Crux and gave a watery smile as her friend gave her a thumbs up.

User Image Tobias chewed on his fingers for solace, trying to remember his zodiac and what he knew about it. "I'm Chalice." He said once he was reasonably sure he was remembering right. "I'm perceptive and I try to be honest. Uhm....sometimes I can be moody, and I don't have any friends." He fidgeted. "I don't really like attention.....so.....uhm.....I guess it fits me? Sort of? Maybe?" Even when he sat back in his seat he was mulling over his words and wondering if he was right about what he'd said. The more he thought, the more he just wanted to curl up in his seat and cry. He couldn't believe he'd said he had no friends out loud! Now he would get picked on!

He stood up addressing the class when his turn came. "I am a Litch as you are all well aware, and my race is a race proficient with magic. All magics, of course this is due to our studies being far more focused than most races. We are one of the only races to master necromancy magics. It can of course be very dangerous but... we still want to do it. Many more benefits that risks of course. I am not quite so skilled yet but I believe once my hard work pays off I will truely be a master in the art of magic one day." Seray nodded and sat back down to listen to the rest of the kids.

User ImageJaden stood up shyly, glad he knew what his sign was. It would have been so embarrassing to have to admit to not knowing it! The other freshlings might have laughed at him, and Tethys would probably have been disappointed. "I'm a Crown. I think I'm hardworking, trustworthy, and caring, or at least I try to be," he added anxiously. He thought he was anyway, but maybe others might not agree. He wasn't sure, and he started fidgeting a bit where he stood.

"Ah, I didn't really understand most of the words for the bad stuff. I think one of the words meant I'm too careful sometimes?" He didn't think that was a bad thing, but it was listed there so maybe it was? "Another word meant not liking to share. I don't think that sounds like me, cause I always try to share." That was about all he could manage for now; talking about himself always made Jaden nervous! He sat down and shyly hid his face against his plushie.

Family customs, hm? Well you would think that would be easy for Conan since he had two sisters. But the three of them had grown up in the Academy, without really knowing much of anything in regards to part of their racial background. And well, he didn't really care to study too much about the Grimm side of his culture anymore. Unless it had to do with their music. That left Fallen (booooring) or Baphomet (way more exciting) to talk about.

"We already know Baphomets are very social nightmares, but this extends to their family lifestyle as well. There are often up to three generations living in one large home. You won't mind many hotels in Baphomet areas, because often times strangers are invited into homes when traveling. They employ guest-friendships. So all guests are friends and treated exceptionally well. Just remember that they never forget what they've done for you and they'll expect you to return the favor eventually." Conan nodded, quite happy with the research he had done for their little talk today. He had learned to be really fond of his Baphomet culture thanks to his studies.

User Image This was easy. She had studied signs since the day she could read! She found herself fascinated by either how well a sign represented someone, or how horribly. It was either a hit or miss, and never in-between in her experience. She listened patiently to the other students, listing traits pertaining to their sign under her breath when each revealed their zodiac. Finally, it was her turn. She stood up, straightening her back and placing her hands in-front of her before speaking.

"I am a Wreath." She refrained from grabbing her book to show the sign of her zodiac. "While I am not optimistic, I am accepting and peaceful, as I believe the world cannot go on without peace. I can be indecisive, as I want to do a hundred and one things at any given moment. I love keeping harmony when I can, and I despise being wrong." There, enough "adult" words. She should get an A. Sitting down, the Litch turned her attention to the next speaker.

"My sign's the chalice," Thian said after silently waiting his turn. "I guess I like it? Some of it." He would never admit that he didn't understand what a couple of the words in his profile meant, but for the most part, the positive stuff was all very true. He was independent and he made a point of telling people they were stupid on a near-daily basis. If that wasn't truthful, he didn't know what was. He also took great pains to keep himself isolated from others, but that wasn't a weakness. It meant he knew how to take care of himself and didn't need to whine to the adults to get things done.

"I like to be free, I'm unique, and I tell people the truth." He nodded, pleased by his assessment. "The rest of these zodiac things are dumb anyway. I'm glad I'm the one I am."

If there was one thing about school that the Fallen boy liked, it was reading. Esrael absolutely loved to learn things and he couldn't be more excited about expanding his knowledge, especially when it came down to races. Esrael was really quite excited to read about his race. He really didn't know much about his fellow Fallen and it was something he had been meaning to read up on for some time now. He cracked the book open, his blue eyes scanning over all the information on the old pages.

'Well...that was an interesting read...sort of...' He thought to himself. It seemed as though the Fallen really didn't have a lot of cool magic. That would probably explain why he hadn't really been able to do anything yet, not that he had even really tried to do anything. The only type of magic Esrael was interested was healing magic, if only because he didn't like to see anyone in pain. People were being called on to talk to the class about their magic...the boy secretly prayed that the teacher would skip over him.

Esrael had no such luck. Of course the teacher would call on him. If studying and learning was the thing he liked most about school then public speaking was most certainly the thing he hated the most about school. When his name was called he shot up, banging numerous body parts on his desk. "W-W-Well Fallen don't really have a lot of magic...w-we have really strong archival m-magic though..." As soon as he finished he plopped down, trying to get the blush on his face to go away and trying his hardest to unruffle his feathers.

User ImageHad he just--?! Had this teacher seriously just--?!

Yaviss seethed inside. He didn't know about other races, but this...this was unacceptable. No one discussed this. No one should discuss this. He frowned at Galan, his classmate. Galan should have known better. They weren't supposed to admit so much! Discuss how they used illusions to protect themselves?! Might as well admit that they had something to protect!

It wasn't his classmate's fault. He could see Galan squirming in discomfort. Yaviss felt that same squirming feeling inside him as his heart pounded so loudly in his chest it was a wonder no one else could hear it. But it was his turn to share, so...ah...

He straightened his throat--and his back--and looked their teacher right in the eye with a glare that could oxidize gold. "Goblins are not especially magical," he lied. He said it bluntly, as if it were a statement of bald-faced fact. "We are very good at imbuing stones, but every race is good at that, or they would not still be alive." He settled back in his seat, fixing every other Goblin in the room a glare, as if to remind them of what would happen if their parents found out about this.

I mentioned your character, just in case you'd like to know that. Also, Juniors can't actually do magic.

"My zodiac sign is the spear!" Rhys crowed excitedly. "My dad is a spear too, which is really cool that we get to be the same sign, but I don't really think I'm too much like the spear. Neither is my dad. They're none to be competitive and have bad moods, but I'm not angry at all ever. I'm not sure I've ever been angry before in my whole entire life! And I'm not aggressive either! Maybe I can be a little selfish and my dad does say I need to be the center of attention ... I also really don't like to be alone or to be bored, but I've also rarely ever been bored because I have my own mind to keep me company! So I think in some ways I'm like my sign and in other ways I'm not! And I'm never ever alone! I have three parents and three younger siblings and I have all my classmates and teachers and my big sibling now! I'm really really lucky!"
