Tethys has tasked the class with mastering "Spell Mimic." In order to do so, he's set up the class in groups of two or three. One student will cast any spell they know, the other must mimic it. Spell Mimic uses the Casting method, so your student must be able to remember how to properly Cast the spell- this may be done verbally, or with a specific motion that Tethys has gone over with the class.

Write a 250 word minimum response from the perspective of your student's experience with the assignment. You do not have to actually team up with another person to do this - feel free to use NPCs.

NOTE: Roll 1 d100, if you roll 45 or above, you may add the spell "Spell Mimic" to your student's personal spell book! If you do not roll, it is assumed that your student did not learn the spell (they still pass the class). You may reroll until you learn the spell, but each roll must contain a roleplay response. Only the success roll must be 250 words.

Prompt Response:
Alright, so the second day hadn't gone their way either. Soren had been switched to a new partner after complaining that the last one hadn't done anything, but that hadn't helped a bit. After the marvelous painting they'd started for art class, they just weren't able to concentrate on anything else. If only the weather hadn't turned, they would have been able to finish it. Hopefully the clouds would stick around so they wouldn't have to scrap their last painting. The atmosphere just wouldn't be the same without them! Unfortunately, all the preoccupation with the painting meant their heart, and attention, just wasn't in learning the spell today.

Prompt Response:
It was already the third day of trying to learn spell mimic, and they'd been paired up with someone who already knew it. Thankfully they'd been able to finish their painting yesterday to their satisfaction, and there had been nothing else to distract them just yet. Now, with the full span of their attention on this spell, it was getting easier and easier each time to cast it. The demon that they'd been paired with knew an astounding amount of spells though, and it was intriguing to see the variations that spell mimic would do to them since they hadn't quite perfected it just yet.

Ignite had caused a mock explosion that had had the teacher rushing over to check on them. Telekinesis had a couple of their classmates flinching as a bookcase appeared to topple over on them. Their latest attempt was nearly identical to the one that their partner had cast, down to the same shadow and everything. It was more exciting than they'd expected it to be. Maybe they should learn a couple of these other spells as well, that way the spell mimic wouldn't stand out quite so much?

Their mind whirled with ideas and thoughts, even if they weren't interested in using spells for their art. Well, unless perhaps they could use it to create new and better pieces of art? Illusion had seemed like a good class to take, since after all, they could conjure or create "new" unique pieces of art for different showcases. They could perhaps use a few spells for demonstrations, or live galleries? Ah, it was a wonderful idea and they couldn't wait to talk with the teacher to perhaps get a few pointers if they had any.

Prompt Response:
Oran had been looking forward to this day since after that incident and her brother had brought her out of her depression with magic. She wanted to learn everything she could about the forces that helped their lives. However she had always been too young and her magic was too erratic and not controlled enough, even if she was a battery. Now she was a senior with her magic more controlled or as controlled as a battery could’ve be. Now she was going to her first senior magic class.

She stood in front of her partner and watched as they did their spell. They summoned a box and changed the color using magic. It was a simple spell but you never just dove in on the hard spells right off the bat.
You had to start somewhere so Oran tried her best to copy it with mimic. It looked like it was done with a specific motion and so Oran copied the movements. There was a strain on her the first time she tried to cast and she didn’t exactly get it but she kept trying until she finally found the breakthrough and she was mimicking the spell. It made all the trouble she had gone through today worth it. She couldn’t wait until she could go home and tell Oberon what she had learned. She remembered when she was struggling with magic in her junior years. It seemed like magic was finally clicking. It filled her with such a giddy feeling that she went over and used mimic again with a different spell just to show that she had gotten it.

Prompt Response:
Oiche eyes went wide as the student she was pairing up with did a telekinesis spell. They must have just came from magic class but it seemed a bit intimidating. Sure the spell was supposed to be an illusion but when oiche went to duplicate the spell using mimic her attempt failed miserably,

She had already failed at science today with the lego’s and she hadn’t run as many laps as she wanted in p.e due to her cold. However she wasn’t going to let the failure in her earlier attempt to stop her. She loved magic and if she was going to be good at it then she was going to master this. She had her partner try again and looked at their movements, looked at and tried to analyze the spell. She wasn’t truly duplicating it, she was just creating an illusion. She needed to clear her mind and she took deep breaths calming herself. When everything was serene she recalled the professors hand movements he had taught earlier and the invocations. Maybe if she combined both then it would work better. Confidence restored she did exactly that, starting out with the invocation and accompanying it with hand motions. The spell clicked then and the illusion of the telekinesis spell took place.

Her partner smiled and tried off another spell. Oiche studied the spell and cast mimic again this time with no problems. She was getting the hang of it. She knew a spell. It was just the beginning towards the magical future. She almost felt like clapping and running over to hug everyone but her litch side stopped her. Instead she just smiled. This was proof that you didn’t give up when things were hard. You took time to consider how you failed and you moved on. It would be a lesson she would remember.
