"Drums?" She grinned; "One of my favorite instruments! The tinkly sweet tones of so many instruments aren't for me. Deep beats are much better! I know that drum beats are used to... help march somehow." She frowned what else were they for? She had no interest in war; it was stupid and wasteful, its only use being to allow the poor like her to gain honor and prestige and a shot at a better life... if you didn't die or lose to many limbs!

She looked around, there were mostly obans on one side, matori on the other.. though a bit of mingling was going on. Who would have thought you'd see this? She thought in amusement, "Well.. one good thing from this is that it's putting our people on the same footing... Look: mingling and no weapons are out! Yet at least."

Aseara - Post #4

Even with Nuri’s words, Aseara still felt bad. They hadn’t forced him to stay to go anywhere, and he’d clearly said he wanted to leave them alone. So that pretty much canceled out him leaving for any other reason than him disliking Aseara or Nuri’s association with Aseara. The thought made her angry, though she knew this was the mentality of many Obans and it shouldn’t surprise her. Pfft, she was going to show them. Prove herself and show them she was just as capable as any of them. All she needed was some time and probably some more money before she could go off on her own.

“That’s okay, the festival is still quite fun,” a shame he’d missed her dancing. “Are you for or against going to war?” Aseara couldn’t help herself, she had to ask him. If she was a fighter she herself would go out of obligation to her people, but as it stood she could not fight and didn’t want to get involved. She’d already seen a few who were against going giving her open looks. “If you’re willing to share your thoughts of course. A few people seem to be a bit touchy on the subject.”

Solari - Post #4

The girl who had the differing opinion from her and the other girl seemed to walk away without even another word spoken. Ah well, Solari shrugged her off it seemed she’d offended the girl without meaning to. Turning to the other Matori girl now, Solari offered her an extended hand. “I’m Solari, you?” She’d been one for introductions but she did want to know the name of the girl who shared her opinion. There didn’t seem to be many of those around from the looks of it. That was too bad. “What do you think about all this.” Solari waved her hand around at the crowd.

Istanell Post 4

In stark contrast to all the movement coming from the earthling beside him, Istanell was completely still excepting for his eyes. Mainly they stayed on the girl, but he felt free to let them wander the crowd to spy skin like his own. It was even harder to find those you were looking for in groups like this. "Amarone. It's nice. You can call me Istanell." He squinted at her next words, lifting his arm to gaze at it. For a moment he couldn't understand what was so different about it. After all, he had grown up surrounded with shifters and it was mostly what he was used to. Then he remembered what made his race most unique from the stand point of other races. It changed with the light. "Hmm." He dropped his arm and gestured so that maybe they could walk and listen if that was what she needed. V'Rin also had trouble staying still often and Istanell recalled he liked to move often when he was working his thoughts through. "Maybe you will get to see a shifter's skin when the sun is setting. Or rising... the change is even more interesting." At least, it probably was for an outsider.

Istanell had a better look at the girl, thinking all non-shifters were interesting enough. He eyed her gems, some smooth like his own and others jagged. Her hair too, which was as light as her skin. To his eyes it almost seemed to match, and that was interesting. It reminded him of his race during the night, their skin milk white and their hair often just as light. "Your crystals are very interesting to me, ours don't come like that." He tapped his own shoulder with his hand, though he was staring at her shoulder. "Is it common for Wind earthlings?" He tried to recall the many he'd seen while traveling but... he and V'Rin hadn't spent an extensive time chatting with any.

Another Matorian called out to Sriina, "Yeah, but it's not just us that's getting called on! If Sauti is asking for our help don't you think they've also asked the other tribes for aid as well? This doesn't just affect us you know!" At his side a larger matorian snorted and elbowed him, "Yeah, but what's to say that it wouldn't be better to just sit this one out?" The female said, "We're still rebuilding and a lot of the older generation can't fight! Either because of their age, disability, or lingering injuries." The two began to squabble, their attention shifting from Siirina to something more domestic.

Meanwhile, near Nuri an Oban stood by frowning, having been listening in on his conversations for some time. He was decorated veteran, proud, and clearly unimpressed with the younger oban's attitude. "Oi! Besian! Tell us again what'll happen if we don't march." He called out, red eyes unreadable.

Besian jerked around to search for the speaker but was unable to find him. "If we do not march then Sauti will loose a potential ally that they need. It was no small blow to their pride to ask us for help. These Extremist Alkidikes, if what I've heard is true, wont stop until they've laid claim to Sauti, taking everything in between too if they were smart enough." He said, starting to pace the length of the platform. "They would kill anyone in their path and age wouldn't matter. They would most likely think it sport to chase down those who tried to flee."

Naria ran a hand over her face, the frown on her lips deep enough that her cheeks were starting to ache. As much as she wanted to stay out of the fight what he said rang true. If she were the one invading a country three borders over she would make sure that the path behind her belonged to her as well. But what didn't sit well with her at all was the fact that they were letting a single continent scare them. Oba was different, they were a military force with sizeable land. No. It would be better still to stay out of the fight entirely and bunker down. Be the safe haven for refugees and the ones to launch counter attacks.

She held her words close to her heart though. The debate might be coming to a close as the odds in favor of helping out weighted those who wanted nothing to do with the war.

SRIINA POST 5

Sriina reached out to the extended hand and shook. "Sriina."

She thought the question to be sort of a funny one. What did she think of this? Sriina hadn't exactly held her thoughts to herself until now. She shrugged her shoulders and pointed a thumb to Naria's position. "I'm with her." She said as the woman on stage covered her face with her hand.

"There has to be a way to opt out. And if there is, I'm not sure if I'll even try to tag along for this madness. Stay back and let them deal with it is what I say."

But it would seem that where the majority laid, the rest would follow suit. Herd animals it would seem, all of them.

Gael Post 5

He blinked a bit before he corrected the male's words. "Gael, my name is Gael." When asked about whether or not he was looking for someone he gave a firm nod. He was looking for a lot of someones. However, he stopped trying to locate his siblings. If they were here they weren't in the crowd, they were likely on the outer edge hiding. Hearing Kani say something he turned his head and smirked at her. "I was looking, it seems she's found me though." He said to the wind male.

His eyes went over Kani once then came back to meet her gaze. "Still Beautiful I see. Come for the festivities or for the rallying cry?" He commented on the discussion taking place. Gael wasn't for helping anyone. There was plenty to do in Matori if everyone was that bored.

Incathis Post 3

Giving a smile from the depths of his hood Incanthis said, "I think that it sounds like a good idea, Abie. It will be fun." He wasn't sure about playing the games himself but he wanted to encourage the twins to do so, wanting the enjoy the festival even if it was something difficult to do. Even now he could hear the opinions of those around them, making him worry that war was going to happen. He didn't want to think about it, mostly because he was too tired and sore to do much in the way of trying to head off such a thing. He could only pray to any God or Goddess listening that his brothers were safe from the potential battle.

Turning to look over at Abie as he felt the young man's arm tighten around him he gave a smile, "Things will turn up, Abie, don't worry." He said in a soothing manner to him, not sure what had caused the reaction, but wanted to make him feel better.

Turning to look over at Aqio he gave the boy a smile, wanting nothing more then to give him a gentle pat on the head. He looked so serious and tended to look so since he'd met him. As he mentioned that the ones they were approaching knew the twins, tellng him to behave, he asked, "Is there anything I should know?" He asked in a curious manner. Best that he knew if there was a reason why Aqio was telling his brother to behave. Should he be cautious around them too he found himself wondering, feeling instantly on edge. Were the ones they were approaching dangerous? He really hoped not, there was enough to worry about without adding to the list.

Saraf Post 4

Saraf had put some distance between himself and his friend Nuri, giving the other man some time along with the dancer he'd been chatting up. Now that he was on his own he had to admit that he was left rather... bored. His opinion on the possibility of going to war of North was simple enough, he felt it was a stupid move and a waste of their time. They should be working on improving their own homeland, the army, and continuing to grow strong. The idea that they would throw away their time and possibly their lives for those savages up North, it was foolishness of the worst degree. Still, if their king told them to go then he would go. Hell if he would risk his life for those savages without being directly ordered to do so.

He was walking along, debating on what he should do next, when he spotted a woman from his tribe fleeing from some Matori filth, looking as though she were in tears? He gritted his teeth a bit, hands clenching, and he forced himself to take a few deep breaths to keep his temper in check. No reason to start an international incident he told himself before he glanced at the woman and said, "Don't let it get to you, a taste of freedom and that lot has already forgotten their proper place. I hope that he didn't hurt you." If he did then Saraf would very well draw his blades and make sure the Matori apologized to the lady.

Here was to hoping that it wasn't just some lover's spat he found himself thinking, realizing after seeing Nuri with that dancer that it could very well be that. Oops.

Kalliope Post 5

When she heard someone speaking to her she looked up at them, startled. Kalli had hoped she had wiped her tears away before anyone could see. Clearing her throat she shook her head and offered a smile. "No, he didn't hurt me. He was just very rude." Something that Kalliope was slowly getting used to. "Sorry, I guess I'm not as tough as I thought." The small dancer's smile brightened and she gave a short giggle. "A lot of good I'll be in a fight, huh?"

Her eyes went toward the stage where the leaders were still listening to the debates of others. When voices from the crowd stood out her eyes tried to find the speakers. Failing to do so she brought her eyes back toward the male Oban that had sorta come to her rescue, or at least noticed her small distress. "What do you think about all of this?" Kalli was curious to know what a fellow Oban thought.

Nuri Post 5

Nuri wasn't sure how to help Aseara with the issue with Saraf, and so he kept silent and examined the people around him. He caught sight of an Oban eying him up, but wasn't sure if it was because of his words or Aseara's presence. He took a short step closer to the girl, for her protection of course, now that it was just the two of them. Turning away from the onlookers, he kept his focus on his friend.

Her question seemed to catch him off guard, and he swallowed as he thought it over.

"It's fine, it's not a hard question, and the timing is right."

Glancing around once more, he took a deep breath before the Oban who was watching him belted out to the leader, Besian. Grumbling, Nuri turned to catch the words, and eyed the Oban up on the stage as he listened to the response.

Allies and pride, Nuri wondered what type of blow would occur to them if they willingly marched. He had never been to Sauti, had never seen the lands or the people there. Oba was always the main focus, and Nuri really couldn't find himself caring about the nameless people in the far off lands.

"As a solider, I must do whatever the King bids, it was my duty and what I signed up for. We must protect our Nation, and if the King feels that Oba is being threatened and needs to step in, it is my job to follow."

It was the same words he told Saraf, but as he looked at Aseara, he felt a twinge deep in his gut, "I...don't know how I personally feel on the matter, but it feels like it isn't our duty to rush off to a war after everything that happened before."

He hid a cringe as he said that, turning his head away for a moment and letting out a sigh. He turned back to Aseara and let his voice go soft, just as if he was speaking to his sister, and continued on with trepidation, "I know you are from Sauti, Aseara. But here...here Obans prefer to do things on their own."

He preyed to the gods that she would understand, that she would accept that these were his feelings and it was nothing against her. She was different, she was tangible and someone he could see. Those Sauti people out there were strangers, and Nuri wasn't sure it was worth risking his country's health when they weren't in immediate danger.

Reillan post 3

"Oh that is an excellent point, but I doubt they would ever get rid of all of the wind people up there, they are born to Sauti and probably would be able to survive in places the alks won't. What I really want to know is how many there are so I know who to fight and what our odds are. I wonder if their goddess is ashamed of their behavior." He snorted and clapped his brother on the shoulder. "Its an honor to meet you Ichill, I think I've heard your name from father he's protection for some of the nobles. I followed the path of the blade, Keelthy did too but on a somewhat smaller scale, we are both here to fight for Sauti." He bowed to her.

Keelthy post 3

"I dance with knives, I see you are a crossbowwoman I never could work one properly, we were never a bow family." He chuckled, they were predominantly brute force people. Reillan would probably bulk up more then him but for now Keelthy was in the lead, he wasn't sure how that worked, maybe all the extra practice but for now he was satisfied with his own progress. "I have definitely heard father mention your name. Perhaps he works close with a relative or an aquaintance or something."

Keelthy showed her one of his small blades. "This is what I use, Keel uses a giant sword that is just not my style at all."

Irrohnaghal Post 3

"Irrohna to you," she grinned, "my full name can be quite a mouthful. "Ooh what have you charmed so far?" Besides the ladies, she thought cheerfully, this boy was very easy on the eyes. "I think perzi are pretty cool, I could live without one of the larger familars though, I like small and elegant." Oh he was a nice one too, she had been really lucky in Oba, he didn't stare for too long, wonderful. "Do you know of any good perzi dealers in the area? For when everything calms down?" Maybe she could trade some of her goods for one, perzi were so cute, and they reminded her of herself with their coloring sometimes.

Abie Post 4

The taller male smiled brightly at Incanthis. Yes! He was willing to enjoy the day with them. The plan was coming together. First step. They all play a game together...after that. Nothing really came to mind beyond just having fun. Glancing over to the leaders the male sighed. Really the talk of war was something the youth Matorian wanted to push aside.

"Aid Sauti...spark aggression with the Alks. Ignore Sauti and the Alks will most likely get high and mighty and go after the rest of us..." he muttered. Coming up to the stall he smiled as he recognized the game as the first one he played with their Mentor. "Ah...well Incanthis this is Mave. Mave is one of Mentor's old friends. He taught us games and how to play when Mentor first took us in. This is my faveorite game! All you gotta do is take this little ball and make it into one of the cups or bowls. I always go for the most difficult shots...cuz...well. There's a sense of pride when you make it. Like this~!!"

He gave a little jump as he tossed the orb into a cup furthest away from him. It bouced, rolled along the rim and fell onto the ground. Abie blinked before blushing...crap. he was suppose to have made that...

Aqio Post 4

Aqio had walked ahead to speak with the Oban before the other two neared. Hearing Incanthis' worry the smaller male reassured him...in his own way. "Mave is hardly a threat to anyone. He has one of the biggest broads of offspring this side of the city. I think his wife is expecting number 21...or was it 23?"

"23. Most of the little ones are multiples my dear dancer. My family runs game stalls during festival times such as this, other times we're a delivery service within the city. Enjoy----" Mave had moved to lean on the counter as Abie failed his shot. "Watching Abie fail."

Aqio blinked before picking up another orb and easily making the shot his brother failed...the corner of his mouth twitched in amusement.

Sometimes, it was easier to remember things when he told them. At least, he hoped so, anyway. ”What is your name?”

Amarone Post 5

Where Istanell was aware, Amarone was distracted with eyes darting every which way as they moved through the crowd. She still twrilled her fingers as she thought, trying to get an idea of what exactly she could do to help. She couldn't focus on anyone, so Amarone turned back around to look at Istanell and see if there was any inspiration from him. Biting her lip, she eyed his worn pants, his braid, and his moonlit skin.

"Istanell" She whispered back, echoing his name as he echoed hers and watching as he looked at his own hand, " Oh...OH, I would love that!"

Her smile was bright again as she nodded at his words, agreeing that the change would be fascinating. No other races seemed to have such dynamic skin, and already she was cursing the night for having set in. To see his skin lighten with the moon would have been quite fascinating.

Amarone let out a jump as he commented on her crystals, and she lifted a hand to brush across her elbow before reaching to touch the tip of the sharp ones on her back. Tilting her head, she wondered if Istanell was facinated as she was with differences and change. His next question seemed to answer he query, and she sent him a closed-smile with shimmering eyes. Oh it was nice to finally speak to someone who had questions, especially in a land as rigid as Oba.

"Yes, these are the colors of our crystals, and the often show up here, here, and here..." She brushed her hand on her shoulders, then her arms, and paused a moment to bend down and touch her calves.

"The only thing I have is this little crystal right here," she gestured to her beauty mark, "Although most Wind Earthlings have smooth crystals, it isn't very common for them to be on their face...especially not like the ones you have on your forehead...in fact, I don't think I've ever seen someone with more than one or two...let alone a shape like yours!"

Suddenly, she seemed to grow pale, and she turned to listen in on exactly what Bastian was saying. Death, destruction? Her mood was sour once more and she swallowed, trying to get the thought of her family out of her head.
