There was a thud after the attack, but Jay could tell it wasn't the pokemon, who fell a moment later. He gave a single click of his tongue, and when he got the echo, lifted his head up, noticing the girl had dropped down. "Least ya still gotta 'nother pok'mon, right?" he pointed out, placing a hand on his hip as he listened. He could hear her make an annoyed sound as she got back up, returning her fainted pokemon. "Shut up! I... Oh hey! Yeah! YEAH!" Her enthusiasm was less than reassuring. Jay frowned, but quickly bowed his head, turning to listen to his pokedex as she sent out another pokemon. Co... balion? Frowning, Jay thanked Tod, and returned him. He could practically feel the grin coming from his opponent's face, and he decided to cut her off before she could say anything. "Yew used type 'vantages 'n still lost. Only managed t'defeat one've mah pokemon 'n honestly, 'e was thuh one ah've trained the least. Don' get smug. Go train yer pokemon." He didn't give her a chance to respond before he headed straight for the pokecenter. He wanted to heal Mawile, and then he would go defeat the gym leader. They could take a break for lunch, then, and finally head out for Geosenge, so they could do some more training.

A few minutes later, Jay was waiting for his pokemon to be healed. He was fairly certain most of them were 100% fine, but he figured a final heal before going to the gym wouldn't hurt. Even though he mostly planned to use it to help train up Mawile. The pokemon was sturdy, and pretty darn powerful, especially for one of his size.
Thanking Nurse Joy with a nod, he put the pokeballs away, releasing Zoey and smiling as she fluttered to his shoulder, squeaking to help give him some echoes as he started moving towards the door. "Ya get alotta rest, Zo?" he asked, reaching up to gently pet her head. She gave a trilling supersonic in response, and reached up her little clawed hands, grabbing onto his finger and gently nibbling on his finger tip. He smiled a bit, then withdrew his hand, giving her a very gentle pat on the head, and turning to listen. He didn't really want to waste time hoping to find the Gym, so he asked directions. There was something odd to the person's voice when they instructed him on where to go, but it wasn't until he reached the gym that he had any reason as to why.
Most likely... it was because they realized he was blind, and weren't sure how to warn him he would have to rock climb his way up to the gym leader. He spent a good minute or so just standing in front of the towering structure, listening, and thinking, while Zoey piped up several squeaks, turning her head to get as good a range as she could. He moved to circle around, listening carefully to the echoes, before finally stepping up. Zoey fluttered off his shoulder as he released Mime Jr, and picked her up. "Whoa... you gonna climb that, Jay?" the psychic-fairy pokemon asked, looking up. "Yup," Jay replied, placing her on his back, her little arm over one shoulder, gripping on tightly, with her other wrapped around his neck to try and stay up. "Ahma needjur help, too, Mahmy. Ah can't get thuh best echoes, so if ya see a good hand or foot hold, tell me, alright?"
He could feel her nod, and tighten her grip as he reached up, brushing his fingers over and grabbing onto a hand hold, his foot finding a good grip as well before he lifted himself off the ground. 'U-uh... You sure this is a good idea, Jay...?' she asked, clinging to him. He frowned, his eyes closed as he reached up, felt around, and grabbed on to another hold, saying nothing. He could hear Mime Jr sigh, and feel her look up. 'To your left, Jay. If you go too far to the right, the holds start really thinning out,' she advised. He nodded. Zoey was still squeaking occasionally, but without her by his side, he couldn't really compare the differences in the echoes as well.
It took quite a while, but eventually, his hand reached up to find nothing, grabbing onto the ledge, and pulling himself up, Mime Jr holding on tightly so she didn't topple off. "Well, I have to say, I haven't had many people make so much noise coming up here. Your zubat certainly is chatty, isn't it?" Jacque assumed the young man speaking was the gym leader. "Yeah," he remarked, straightening up, standing to his feet and brushing himself off a bit, before lifting his head up, "Somethin' like that.""Hm." He couldn't quite get a read on the gym leader-- not at first. Zoey swooped down once he was standing straight, landing on his other shoulder, and resuming her supersonic. It at least helped him get an idea of where the guy was. "Well, I assume you're here for a battle, then?" Grant asked, already grabbing a pokeball. "Yessir," Jay replied, immediately going for Mawile's pokeball, "Ah been trainin' fer it."

Jay adjusted his hat a bit as the battle ended. That had been a tough one, but Mawile was a tough one, and he'd held through. Jay honestly didn't blame him for flinching as much as he did-- the pokemon he was battling was a lot stronger than him, and hitting hard by the sound of it. He smiled as Grant congratulated him, Zoey squeaking by his head to give him a good impression of where he was as he moved forward. Jacque nodded appreciatively, reaching out for the items, turning his hand over to receive them. He hated taking things, and he hated handshakes-- getting that coordination when you're blind was... a little difficult, even with the echolocation.
Once he'd received the tiems, he tucked them away. "Thank ya much," he replied, giving a tip of his hat, "Ah... don' s'pose there's 'n easier way t'get down...?" Grant nodded his head back. "There are some steps back there, and after a short climb down, you can find a slide to go down to the ground floor," he replied, "Want me to show you?" Jacque shook his head and gave a wave. "Nah, thank ya though," he replied.
It took a bit of balancing, and he had to hold onto Mime Jr with Zoey fluttering around up ahead, but he was able to get down. He brushed himself off a bit, making his way towards the pokecenter to heal Mawile. Mime Jr happily trotted on along with him, with Zoey back on his shoulder. He released Mawile to join them, the four heading out of Cyllage, and off towards Geosenge.

Sebastian started rolling his way along the route to Cyllage City, taking his time and just enjoying the motion. There was just something about moving without actually lifting your legs to move a few feet. However, that joy was cut short by the sudden appearance of rocky paths and cliffs. Cliffs were bad. Of course, there was no reason for him to maneuver near them and as long as he kept going straight, he should reach the town in a bit.
Or that’s what he’d thought anyways. The cliff route he was on only led back to the connecting cave and while that did apparently lead back to Cyllage City, he had no real desire to go back through it. Spade apparently completely agreed, lurking back and away from the cave entrance to hover behind Blackjack and Dice. Sebastian frowned. He was fairly sure there was a different way to Ambrette Town…

”You lost, son?” A voice suddenly chimed, breaking Sebastian’s concentration. The young man blinked looking back to see what looked to be a middle-aged hiker with a bulging backpack on his back. Sebastian paused, glancing back at his pokemon who hadn’t even bothered to alert him to the approaching person before giving the man a smile and a nod.
"A little bit, yes actually." This was actually pretty convenient; maybe the man could help him out? The hiker gave a hefty chuckle, sauntering over and giving Sebastian an eyeing. ”Well then, what seems to be the problem? Scared of the caves, are you?” Sebastian mustered a half smile at the joking tone, giving a nod. Sure… that was absolutely the case. None of his pokemon seemed impressed by the joke though.
"Actually, I wanted to avoid the cave to be honest. I thought there was a way to Cyllage City without going through it…? " The hiker flashed a smile and nodded, pointing down the cliff face. ”Well, if you’re looking to avoid the caves then the beach is the way you’ll want to go.” The man remarked, returning his hand to clasp the strap of his backpack. Sebastian blinked, following the direction the man was pointing in, considering it for a moment before giving a nod of appreciation.
"Ah I see… alright, thank you very much!" He replied. The hiker just grinned and nodded, shuffling his way around towards the cave entrance, giving Sebastian a final wave goodbye.
”Take care, lad! Those skates won’t work on the sands by the way!” The man called as he disappeared into the darkness. The trainer frowned. Well of course he knew he couldn’t use his skates on the sands…

If it hadn’t been for a slight fear of heights, Sebastian might’ve considered just climbing down the cliff side to get to the beach and keep going. But there was no need for him to do that and while he was willing to face heights when the situation called for it… this wasn’t really one of those times. With a sigh, he and his pokemon back tracked until they’d finally reached the beach. Sebastian had pulled his roller skates off once again, now just walking normally through the sands.
At some point, Sebastian glanced back to check his pokemon. Spade seemed less tense now that they had avoided the caves and Blackjack was apparently interested in the area and the sand. And Dice… Dice was missing. Wait.
Sebastian paused and frowned. "Blackjack where did Dice go?" He questioned. The Houndoom blinked, head tilting curiously to the side as he shook himself. Hm… it was a bit lighter now that he thought about it. Spade twitched and looked, also having seemed to miss the Cubone disappearing off of Blackjack’s back. All of them looked about, until the familiar sounds of Cubone’s squeaks rang through the air from close by. Sebastian glanced over, following the sound until he spotted Dice, trying frantically to tug something from the sand close to the shore.
"Dice, what are you doing?" He questioned. The Cubone glanced back at his trainer, still tugging away at the strange looking mass in sand. ”Cu! Cubone!” He chimed, resuming his tugging. Sebastian gave a curious frown, bending over and helping the Cubone tug. It took a yank or two but eventually, the mass came out and revealed itself to be… a rather large size bone.
"What in the world…" This thing was kind of huge. Maybe it belong to some fossil somewhere? Should he turn it in…? ”Cu! Cu! Cubone!” The little pokemon squeaked, arms extended out as his paws made a grabby motion. Apparently, he didn’t care where it belong, it was his now. Sebastian tilted his head a bit, considering his options. Dice didn’t have a bone club at the moment though… this was almost as big as him.
The insistent squeaks kept coming until Sebastian finally conceded. "Alright, alright it’s yours." He remarked, handing it over. Dice gave a little squeal of joy, nearly toppling over from the weight of the thick club he’d just received, maintaining his balance though and beginning to toddle back over to the other pokemon with his newly acquired treasure. Well that was that.
Sebastian stood back up, shaking his head a moment before continuing on towards Cyllage City.

Eventually they all arrived at Cyllage City. Sebastian had expected so many cliffs and rocks and mountains and –wait did he spot some people skating and biking too? That momentarily peeked his interest but before he could wander off to check it out, Spade had latched his teeth lightly onto his pant leg, redirecting him towards the pokemon center. Blackjack helped a bit, placing himself on the opposite side and sort of steering the trainer in the intended direction. Cubone just wiggled from his seat on the Houndoom’s back, still haphazardly clutching the bone club that was his size and then some. There was some hope he’d grow into it at least…
Once inside the pokemon center, they took a bit of a rest. While they chilled, Sebastian pulled out his pokedex. Dice was sitting on the table in front of him, still attempting to haphazardly lift and swing his club around. Sebastian didn’t seem to mind to much the potential danger of these actions, instead running through the Cubone’s information.
His skill set was rather small at the moment and he’d overheard some other trainer’s talking about the gym leader here. Apparently he specialized in… rock types? Which Sebastian had momentarily believed to be the same as ground, but apparently that wasn’t the case. In actuality, with a little training, Cubone could be his main against the gym leader. He was just a ground type, giving him a slight edge against Rock, but also had the ability to learn some steel moves. Which, considering what some of his talents were… might’ve been a worthwhile investment.
"Here Dice. I want to try something." He remarked, catching the pokemon’s attention. ”Cubo…?” The little pokemon remarked, watching as Sebastian produced a heart scale from his bag. He handed it over to the pokemon who took it between his little paws with interest.
"I don’t really know how it works but, let’s see if we can figure it ou-"
”Cubone!” Suddenly Dice had slammed the heart scale right atop his skull cap, the thin shimmer scale pretty much exploding into a dust that seemed to absorb into the pokemon. Sebastian stared blankly, a look of disapproving confusion on his face.
"I… I don’t think that’s how you use it…," He frowned. Just as he spoke though his pokedex seemed to update. Picking it up, he checked Cubone’s information again. Surprisingly, it had worked and the little guy now knew something called “Iron Head”. Sebastian rubbed the back of his neck, giving Dice a quizzical look as the little pokemon waved his arms in a cheering fashion. "Or it does… okay then."
