Thuraya kept pawing at the ground she wasn't sure that she would find another rib there weren't many left but she was happy to collect shells and small bones too, excited about the trinkets she could make from them.

As she pawed away she ended up uncovering a mermaid purse, a little shriek escaped her lips before she quickly flung it back into the ocean. The blue lioness frowned a little she didn't need any bad luck. She rubbed her paws together as if to clean any of the bad luck off them.

After putting her little treasures in a safe spot where she could return to later, Kicheko turned to the two remaining ribs. She glanced at the larger one and let out a short breath. She could do this! Maybe others would be more inclined to grab the smaller one. She set to work digging out the bottom from the sand, and with a few heavy pushes, got the bone on the ground. This was her sixth, and man was she proud of herself!

After bringing the bone up to the pile, she returned with a trot in her step. "Ooooone moreeeee," she said in a sing-song voice, grinning at the gathered lions. "Who will get it down?"

Progress had been made quickly. As the ribs had been removed, the spine had begun to sag down into the sand. Now only one remained attached, the last piece to the massive puzzle. Athena stared up at it, licking her lips. "Just one more..." They were so close!

The mermaid, too, looked up at the bone... Then opted for picking at the sand instead. She found a couple bones that had come off the spine, and added them to the growing pile she'd made on the grass at the edge of the sand, but otherwise didn't keep them. Let others have at them.

Thuraya continued her search after the mermaid's purse trying to forgot the bad luck item. It wasn't long after the grey and pink lioness found her rib bone that Thuraya found the last remaining bib bone. She gave it a few tugs pulling it up out of the sand and towards the dens.

"Thats it I found the last one." Thuraya announced proudly. The older lioness was quite proud of herself having found three rib bones and carried them all up to the dens on her own. She still had some strength left in her, perhaps it wasn't too late for her to settle down in the new pride and start a new family of her own.

As the last rib bone was taken up to the pile, Kicheko let out a little whoop of delight. They were done! It was important to do work when it was called for, but Kicheko loved being done with work. There was hardly a better feeling than doing a good job and then knowing you had the rest of the day to do whatever you wanted. She was sure there would have to be some talk as to who got the bones and where they could go, so she couldn't just start digging right away. Let the head honchos hash that out...she'd go for a swim in the meantime.

"Good job everyone," she crowed happily, going over to her little pile of teeth. Maybe she could bring it over to the Kizi and see what they could do with it.

Dusting off his paws, the lion afforded an impressed expression at the manner in which they had all cleared the bones away. Now all that was left was a rather intriguing skeletal head. Admittedly, with enough power behind it, it could be moved... but he wasn't entirely sure if they should do such a thing. It was a testament to the effort they had all put in to removing the rest of the body and any and all who passed it would be reminded of the task. It would be remembered and passers-by would be impressed with what they heard...or at least he would be, to move a whale carcass was no small feat.

...That and it would make a nice playground for the cubs when it was low tide.

No doubt in time the sea would eventually claim it as it always did, but for now they could enjoy the blessing they had been given. In the mean time, he had something more important to do and he really couldn't delay it. The lioness had proven herself beyond all measure and for that she would be rewarded. Thus he approached Athena, his expression set and cleared his throat.

"Athena, a word,if you would spare a moment."

I'onoe grinned as the last rib bone was dragged away, staring at the now barren carcass. It was strange, just seeing the skull but she felt proud. They had done well today, moving everything! She bounced on her paws, feeling enthused like she was a youth again.

"Great job everyone!" she called out, mirroring Kicheko's own call.

I'onoe herself hadn't done much in the way of moving things, but she was proud to have moved two rib bones over the course of the day. She felt accomplished and strong; even though they had taken her a while and she now felt rather sore in all her muscles. She had done it.

Maybe there was some life in her old bones yet, she mused with a small smile to herself.

It had taken some doing, especially when the curved bone decided to get itself caught on a rock or bush, but Wisp had eventually reached her destination with her precious cargo mostly intact. From being dragged along the ground its once smooth surface now contained minor chips and scrapes, but thankfully no fractures or other damage that would have been cause for concern. Surveying her handiwork and that of the other lions who had brought up the pile of rib bones that lay in a ever growing pile the pale female smiled sincerely and puffed out her chest. She was proud to have been able to help.

Careful of its placement in the collection Wisp tugged her ribbons free of the cumbersome package. As her paws molded into the shifting sand, her smile broadened wider still at the magnificent sight of the skull standing alone in its enormity. Maybe it was some type of omen or protective ward sent by the gods that would act as protection for the Bahari for as long as it remained on the shore, or maybe it was something else. A chill rolled down her spine at the thought, though seeing as the pride had taken care to show the whale great respect and to discard its remains with dignity Wisp hoped there was no reason to worry.

Everyone seemed in a cheerful mood as congratulations that were passed around now that the task had seen completion. With a settling sensation of accomplishment and unity settling over all those who listed about on the sand Wisp added her voice to the celebratory calls, We did it!

Rasul relaxed as his mother freed the last rib from the frame. It seemed that they had all of the materials needed to move on to the next part of their task. He looked up at what remained of the skeleton, still marveling in its size. "Anything can be done when working together, I suppose," he said, turning to Kicheko again, "Although it seems to me you've lapped the rest of us."

His father would have seen that as a scathing indictment of the males in the pride, but Rasul found himself feeling proud of her. He hadn't known the female for long, but he was glad to have met her.

Doria smiled at the group fondly. It was good work done well, and she was happy to have helped. Even though she hadn't been able to dislodge any of the ribs, she had still removed lots of small bones and cleared the surrounding area of many shells and.... she shuddered... mermaids purses.

Now she wondered just what the pride were going to make out of the bones, maybe shelter? That could be a good idea. She mused quietly.

As everyone lingered on the beach, awaiting some formal dismissal or acknowledgement that the task set before them had been completed to the satisfaction of the one who had initiated the clean up, Wisp milled across the shoreline. There were still rings of bone to be found, small and insignificant though they were in comparison to the giant ribs, scattered about the landscape. One of the bones was large enough to put her paw through which set the Mummer to thinking of all the ways she might have been able to incorporate the mythical beast's remains into her dance routines.

Maybe she could use them as bangles or other decoration. Their bright white presence against the colorful strips of ribbon that fluttered and twirled as she spun and twisted in one of her many graceful acts would bring something extra. She was sure of it.

Kicheko scoffed at Rasul's words. "Oh, I was just doing my job. I'll be using those bones to make new dens soon, so the longer we lollygagged around the less time I'd have to get the work done. And the quicker I get the work done, the more time there is for fun!"

Oh yes, she had her priorities straight. Work first, but work quickly and work well so you didn't have to come back and do it again. Then you could take all the time in the world to play.

"But thanks for helping out," she said with a grin, moving closer to the male. "A nice little gift to your new pride, that was. Now maybe you'll get one in return."

Looping the colorful bits of ribbon around the circular bones she found one by one, Wisp tested out the sound the bits of spinal column made as they gently bumped against one another. It had an earthy, tribal feel that was almost hypnotic in the right rhythm.

Fascinated now the Mummer made sure the bones were securely fastened along the ribbon before tying the opposite end to her tail. With a nervous breath she took a few cautious steps of one of her favorite dance routines. Behind her the bones rattled as they skittered across the sand with her sweeping movements. It sounded almost like rain and a wide smile crossed her maw in delight at the experience. Her audiences would love the new addition to her routine, she was sure of it!

Dusting the sand off her own paws, the dark lioness grinned at the lions gathered. "Thank you everybody who came to help from outside the Bahari! We hope to see some of you around more if you're rogues and wish to join us by the sea, and if you're from neighboring prides, we hope to see you visit again and continue to foster good will!" She stepped away, giving a nod to the wave-marked lioness as she passed, and went up to Ram. "Of course, Ram, anything!" There was a mirth in her eyes, one she hadn't had since she was a cub, running off to follow a leopard to where ever he was going.

As she watched the lions around her, Pandora couldn't help but admire this pride by the sea, so small and so close to each other. The Mermaids had a sisterhood, but it didn't feel quite like this. She couldn't imagine leaving her home forever, though, and still intended to return home, for as amazing as it was to see the connections of the world, she still preferred the way of life she'd been born to. Let other prides have their ways, she wanted her own. She gave a bow to the purple-marked lioness, before heading on her way, only pausing to pick up a shell that caught her eye.
