While Axel had been hired to do plenty of odd jobs in his life, this was the first time he'd been tasked with building a garden fence. He watched the other trainees for a moment. Most of them were busily tying knots and lashing things together. Hm. He wasn't very good at fiddly little things like that. Instead, Axel took some of the sturdier posts and went to drive them into the ground. Terry Tuggle's festive pink kitten socks were in the wash, so Axel was quite boringly socked in white. It was kind of a bummer. He was starting to grow attached to the pink socks.
"Sure." Finished with the post he'd been wrangling, Axel headed over to help Shun with the plank. It was nice to be of help to someone that didn't require expert knot-tying. His eyes flicked down to Shun's socks, noting the absence of any stupendous Terry Tuggle creations.
"Lost your socks?"Axel asked, grinning.

"Shut up," Shun grumbled, as he went on and nailed the plank in place. Once that was secured, he gave Axel a curt nod of thanks.
"I liked my socks,"Axel said obliviously, picking up another plank. "I mean, they were pretty awful. But they were funny. And you can't turn your nose up at free socks, right?"
Axel looked over at the other trainees. Most of them seemed to be having a good time. The Peace Garden was silly, but it was always nice to work together towards some common goal. "Terry Tuggle said we were going to paint the fence too. Are you going to help with that? I can't paint, so I don't think I will."
Gosh, he really was rambling on. It was probably the heat.

Alister loved the Peace Garden. He loved the hard work, the splinters, the idea of it all! Terry Tuggle was a goddamn inspiration. And yesterday, ah, yesterday had been so fun with those terrible twins! He had laughed and thanked them for the ride. Alister wondered if they were here today. And despite their cart ride, he hadn't really had a chance to talk to Yesenia. All the excitement was making him miss home just a little bit.
Humming happily, he neatly began to piece together the fence. Surprisingly, he only got splinters in two of his fingers. Today was a good day. As he worked, he couldn't help but eavesdrop on the people near him.
"Oh my!" he squeaked. His hand reached up to clutch the good luck necklace Tuggle had given him. "You lost your socks, Shun? Walls, do you lose yours too?" The other man was wearing socks, but they were clearly not of the Terry Tuggle brand. Alister didn't know if he could remedy this, but he could try! He waved his arm high into the air and shouted and, possibly because he was an accomplished singer, when Alister wanted to be loud, he was loud.
"Mr. Tuggle! I've got two trainees who've lost your beautiful socks! What should we do?"
Terry Tuggle was a man who was passionate about a few things. Brightly colored socks. Cats. Brightly colored cat-patterned socks. Teamwork. Inspiring those around him. Brightly colored cat-patterned socks. Peace. Talking through problems. Encouraging others.
Brightly colored cat-patterned socks.
"What, what? Axel and Shun, my goodness, you aren't wearing your socks!" His lips bowed down in a moue of disapproval beneath his perfectly manicured mustache.
"Well, I have to admit I'm a little upset!! Those were my happy socks, Shun!! And Axel, I knit those socks with my own two hands, good grief. They're easy enough to clean! They dry fast! Oh, goodness."
He looked legitimately upset.
"Well. Here."
Shun received a necklace made of vibrant purple ribbon and little clangy bits that chimed when Terry dangled the necklace out in front of him. Axel's new-found prize was a small knit hat with disturbing, toothy kittens on it.
"Here, here. Take them. Go on."

Rennati smiled at Chris and Alec both, "It's nice to meet you both!" She went to Larisa's free side and started holding the posts in place so that Larisa could stretch the wire. "It is about us all working together I think. I mean, that's an important skill, right?" She thought it was an important skill. Things got done better with teamwork and plus, it was nice to make friends! Though, upon Jeong-Jae's arrival, she frowned but was glad Larisa said something about him almost running them over.

"Free socks, yes. But I have other socks available. Those socks are a last resort for use," Shun muttered. He wouldn't throw them away. No. No sense in wasting them like that, not until they were too frayed to be worn. But if he had others to use, he'd go with those instead.
His attention shifted towards Terry as he ended up receiving a new...gift. He couldn't help but give Alister a glare for calling him out like that.

Before he could protest that he had not lost his socks, and rather was simply washing them, Terry Tuggle was in his face handing out gifts. No more socks, unfortunately. Axel seized the little hat and immediately set it on his head, where it perched like a small woolly coaster.
"Thanks, Professor Tuggle. Only I'm just washing my socks. I didn't really lose them."
As silly as it was, Axel really couldn't stand to have anyone else pissed at him right now. Even if that someone was Terry Tuggle.

Another day fixing up the fence and ten minutes into it Hwan's attention was already wandering elsewhere. He'd noticed the new trend of knitted cat socks around the academy and wondered where the hell the things were coming from. They weren't exactly fashionable or tasteful but the dark haired boy was never one to let the latest fads pass him by. Hwan had always fancied himself more of an early adapter than the kind of person to clue into a trend as it was dying. He overheard a bunch of people talking to Tuggle about socks and jogged over to catch the tail end of the conversation.
"Aaaaah! You have one? Where did you get that?!" He asked Axel looking jealous and yet also kinda not at the garish thing on the other boy's head. He desperately wanted some kind of knit thing to show off to his brother and their group of friends by being the first in said group to wear any. But seeing those toothy little cats staring happily out into the world from Axel's hat was a little creepy and he was starting to have second thoughts on the idea.

"Cause you knocked me off my feet earlier." Jeong-jae winked back at Larisa. Thinking more on it, he supposed she had in a way by making him do that headstand. Laughing at the stupidity, he let Hwan wander off while he grabbed the wood posts and head them steady for Larisa to secure into place with the wire. Watching her work, he glanced at the rest of the group and wondered who the purple haired boy was. Alec's face wasn't one he knew well but he recalled seeing that bright red hair at the Truth or Dare party before. He definitely knew Rennati from the party and their little meeting at the infirmary.
"So after we get the garden started, what do you guys want to make with the results?" Jeong-jae had no idea if anyone here cooked but figured it would be nice to have a subject to chat about while they toiled away in the bright sun. He didn't want to let the group fall into an awkward silence when this seemed like a good chance to meet new people.Terry had rattled off an impressive list of things he expected to grow and Jeong-jae was rather keen on blueberries.

Alec recognized Jeon-jae..at least he was sure he did from the little gathering of truth or dare the other night. He'd sworn in the dim light he was seeing double, and had been rather tired. He sighed dramatically before giving a small shrug. "I'm not the best cook, but I'm sure whatever we end up growing will be awesome" His blue eyes gleamed with wonder at the thought.
When Rennati greeted the red head he couldn't help but to smile at her comment."I think so, it seems pretty easy to mess things up if you aren't careful. Not enough pressure..and nothing gets done. To much, and you break the darn thing."
As Shun moved past him he gave the other Falke member a nod in greeting. He realized he'd seen a few of these newer faces around the dorm, and felt a sense of pride in their having a chance to engage further in conversation. Three years was a long time to spend avoiding and not getting to know people after all. Alec set about his task trying to improve the fencing, but with all the new faces and chatter he didn't actually make a lot of progress. Larisa earned a nod of his head in understanding. "Yeah, the more the merrier. We'll just have to work smart and not over do it!" he spoke to those gathered, a friendly look on the red heads face.

Chris gave Larisa a wide eyed look slowly nodding his head in understanding, and acknowledgement she was right. "Thank you then.." He looked relieved at their being fine with his inclusion. However, the remark about nearly being ran over caught his attention, looking slightly surprised. "H..how did that work exactly?" He tilted his head listening as Jeong-jae explained himself. A small smile crept its way onto the freckled boys face as he fumbled with a section of wood, having forgotten to put on his glasses strap and while in the process of trying to be helpful fell short when he was suddenly fumbling around on the ground for his lost glasses.
"It figures I'd forget something that important." He chided himself, embarrassed as he quickly tied the sports band onto each end of the frames before setting back to work. "Team work will be our main way of s-survival yes I'm sure." he added softly

Shakuntala tugged at the twine about the fence as she placed in a new board and secured it to the one before her. Yet, a look of displeasure came to her face when she realized how crooked her handiwork was. Unwrapping the wire, the copper-skinned girl repeated her actions, and looked again at her handiwork only to see that, yes, it was as bad as she made it out to be. Doing it a third time seemed to usher in the same results, so she waved down Tuggle.
"E-excuse me, sir..." she said modestly, "does this, um, this look okay?"
She flicked her eyes between the boards and the mustachioed man's face readily. If there was something wrong, she was ready for critique.

Knocked him off his feet? A little taken aback by the answer, Larisa ducked her head in a half-hearted attempt to hide an oncoming blush and turned her attention back to tying the wire around the posts being so helpfully held for her instead. She had to resist a sudden urge to glance back at him anyway as the realization that she didn't even know which one he was struck. Was it Hwan-jae? She hadn't thought she'd made much of a good impression on Jeong-jae when they'd met, but it wasn't like that meant he wouldn't talk to her so it could really go either way, couldn't it? She'd just have to avoid calling him anything until some sort of clue came up in conversation, she supposed.
Chris wondered what had happened, so she turned towards him to tell it. "Oh, you didn't see? Earlier, when we were all collecting wood, some of the others were using this cart. They got a bit carried away and started going really fast and me and Rennati were in the way!" Her face went red all over again. "So I, um, got us both out of the way." She flashed another apologetic smile at her roommate, because she really had overreacted a bit. "Sorry again."
Eager to switch back into a topic that didn't embarrass her in some way, she leaped into the food discussion. "Anything sweet would be good at this point, I think! There's a lot you can with all those fruits we're supposed to be growing." She sighed a little dreamily at the thought, then shook her head. "But you know what else would be nice? A good potato soup!"
