Kassandra waited quietly for Maiah to answer her truthfully. She had heard other spies say the Nobility was starting to get restless. If they ever found out her plans, they would shurely try to overthrow her. The assassins would stand beside her. But they wouldn't be enough if the noble class attempted her throne and her life. She sighed. "Maiah. There are reasons I have this boy and I trust he will not run from me. I believe in those reasons and I beleive that my closest friends and servants can help me. That includes you. So do not hide things from me." She said, her vulnerability showing through slightly. She hated letting her guard down and trusting people. But it had to be done in order for her to stay in power for as long as she had.

Ephira sat his thing on the ground and turned to face him. Her voice was not loud but it was very stern. "Now listen to me Ritic. You are a living breathing person who has free will. You have a choice in the matter. She will not make you stay against your will. Our queen is a good queen and I will be sad to see her go when her time is over. But don't you ever think for one minute that you have no choice or that you can't say no. She is only trying to give you a better life to live."

She retrieved his items and entered the palace.

She hadn't meant to be so harsh with Ritic, he was only nervous about the new life he was starting. But she was also tired of the weak person he kept showing. She knew he wasn't weak, he was starting his life over with people he only a few days ago hated beyond anything. That is a very strong person, she just wished he would act like it.

She made her way to where she knew Kassandra would be, but stopped short at the door sensing the queen was irritated or rather uncomfortable and unsure of what was really going on. She drew her dagger and crept to the door. To her luck it was slightly ajar so she could see and hear inside. Kassandra was speaking to one of the pixies she usually hired for super sneaky type jobs, Ephira had seen this one but had never heard her speak. She waited.

Ephira held up her hand before Ritic could say anything. She turned her head and put her finger up to her lips in a "shh" motion. She wasn't one for snooping on the queen but this seemed like it was too eerie to not hear. Why was Kassandra so upset and who was this pixie?

Ritics eyes went to the size of saucers. "But I couldnt do that!" He blurts out not to quiet either exposing their positions. "Ive never been in charge of anything! How could She possibly think I could ever run a country whom half wants to murder all humans!?" His voice indicated of shock and doubt but his facial expressions dipicated fear. "I just couldn't!" His eyes are welling up in soft tears.

betrayed by his own body against his mind he goes to her keeping his head low. Stealing glances over to Maiah and to Ephira. "Call me what you wish but I'm no leader!" His voice is slowly cracking from his emoitions starting to over bare him. Out of habit more then anything he strongly grips his arms in a protective hugging manner. "How can I change so many Peoples hearts when I cant even get enough courage to stand up to my demons?" Stealing a glance at Ephira for more or less emotional support. For he was feeling as if the world just grew 1000x heavier on his shoulders and his barriers are being pushed to their limits.

Kassandra’s confession shocked Maiah, but she grew quiet, watching the situation unfold before her. The young boy by the name of Ritic was terrified. That much was certain.
‘I have to trust in Kassandra. I am here to support her,’ she reminded herself carefully. ‘She knows what is best for the kingdom. I am only here to serve.’
After a moment of brooding, she looked Ritic in the eyes. What was going on inside his head? He seemed like one who wouldn’t hesitate to back out in fear. But yes… of course, Maiah had to be confident in her Queen’s choice.

A tense silence filled the room.

Ephira knew that Kassandra had felt them lurking. It was her home after all. One doesn't hide so easily from the queen in her home. She stood by quietly while the queen and Ritic talked. It was the type of situation where she was helping more by staying quiet.

Though the pixie still made her cautious. Elves and pixies had shared blood ties but they still had a distaste for each other.

"Ritic, and I mean no offense my queen, you have the right to say no. But it is far better a choice you would be making by saying yes. Our queen doesn't take things lightly and for her to choose you out of the millions of people she rules and for her to barely know you, it is a greater honor that you would be doing for her than what she would be doing for you." She paused, "I would love to see a world where humans were respected as equals like everyone else than to keep living in a world where they are shunned for having been born to non magical parents." She felt a stab of anger. "It shouldn't be a part of life where you are shunned for something you cannot control."

"I would still love to teach you fighting and weapon skills if you'd have me, my kingling." It wasn't an actual question but she said it like one. She bowed her head to him, not as far as she did for Kassandra but he accepted her offer to be king so it was his right to be bowed to.
