Cervus set the trio of books down on a table and shook his head with a chuckle. "Hardly. I've been doing some research on the totems. I've always been curious about the rumors of fey merging with them and becoming...well...something more than themselves. That and I'm trying to determine when twould be best for the wedding to take place."
He finally caught movement nearby and his head tilted to one side. "Countess Rosa, how good to see you. You are well this evening I hope?" Even as he spoke he helped take the books of his friend's stack of them and set them on the table.

For once, Rosa praised Aesculus for his kindness. Yes, be it unintended or not, his silence gave her a glimmer of hope for her intention to turn around and... run. However, Cervus had soon destroyed that hope. Her face twisted somewhat as she half stumbled a step backwards and latched her arms behind her back. "Yes, yes, you aswell my king. Very.. very well, just.. running... errands of a sort." She made a face, inwardly scoffing at the thought of her running errands. But that sounded like a good explanation.
She slowly looked at Aesculus and nodded a bit, "Aesculus, it is good to see you." Running quickly into survival mode, she shifted her footing and managed to continued without gagging, "I have wanted to speak with you, so another time perhaps. I suppose there are things we would be better to.. work out." She would wait to gag until she had privacy.

Aesculus had no intention of even giving her a courteous reply since her last "insubordination" when he was given the perfect excuse, albeit a painful one. His frame slowly was outlined with white and blue that seeped from beneath the skin, as if his essence itself was pouring out.To keep from showing his pain, he clasped his tunic at the chest... and then he saw Rosa.
The pain was more tolerable than showing pain in front of her. No, no! He would not fall to his knees- no... he could hold the pain in, subdue it just enough. Cervus might have wailed as he claimed, but he'd be damned if he would show such pain that would worry Cervus enough to show pain in his eyes and give Rosa room for taunting. It was sheer will that kept him standing a bit stooped over.

Cervus saw...no sensed...the light of transformation seeping from Aesculus. His face twisted in horror. "Aesca....hells minions! Don't you dare try to be brave and show me up. I know how bad it hurts..."
Protectively he guided Rosa back a few steps to give Aesculus some space and to protect them both from any flailing that might occur. The light continued to seep out of Aesculus and to envelop him in it's blinding brightness. It surrounded the teen like a coccoon, pulsing with the agony it sent shivering through him. Then, in an instant, it was gone, leaving behind a man. A devastatingly handsome young man, albeit one drained severely by the strain of the transformation.

Rosa had rolled her eyes, impressed with herself for being so 'big' and attempting to make peace. Of course, it was really only for Cervus' benefit - but nooo, Aesculus couldent even give her that, he had to go into 'pity me im hurting!' mode before she could get any leverage! Bah. Of course. She nodded to one side, as she spoke with herself mentally, deciding she really couldent of expected any more as she crossed her arms and watched the rest of the transformation, her eye twitching oddly when it was complete. "Poor.. Aesculus.." She managed to say, sounding atleast moderatly caring. How she managed that had to of been some unnatural talking-to-yourself-in-mirror practised talent.

With a sigh he finally falls a knee when he has fully changed and the hand clasping to his shirt has now fallen to his side as he catches his breath and calms his heart. Strangely enough, but common for him, he was completely unconcerned with his shape or condition. Enough so that his next comment might even tempt the calmest of kings to whack him upside the head.
"S-Sorry... didn't mean to frighten you," he breathed, trying to calm his voice more than he felt. "Let me finish putting away these books." Quietly he could still see Cervus's horrified face- even though he had done his best to conceal all signs of pain...

"Aesculus, If you so much as THINK about picking up a book and putting it away, I'll take you outside and thump you good and proper. Don't try to pretend like you aren't exhausted around me...I know you too well."
The King moved to give his friend a shoulder to lean on. "You look so much like your father, Aesca..." Cervus seemed both amazed and concerned.

Rolling her eyes again, Rosa turned around and headed over to the door. "Atleast this gets Filix and Ursa and... Muris and Pappilia off my back.." She muttered to herself, as she stopped at her destination and turned back around. "Im sorry there isnt anything I can do to help. Aesculus I see everyones predictions on your apperance were..." She trailed off, not having the heart to say it. Instead, her hand slid to the handle of the door, in a sneeky sort of way.

"No," he waves off Cervus's arm. True, the king was his good friend, but he didn't want more worry from him or to have he, the lowly aide, being supported by the king... it should be the other way around.
"I'm fine... just need to catch my breath..." He started to stand, but moved slowly for the world seemed to subtely swirling around his head as if he were on a bad carnival ride.
"I worry not about the looks, but about his sagacity. I could only hope to be a tenth the man he was, and that would be plenty."

Cervus chuckled softly. "Don't be silly. You're already more than he was. He didn't have ME afterall." The King winked and didn't let his friend shrug him off. "Come on, lets get you back to your chambers. If you keep giving me a hard time about it I'll carry you there and announce it to the whole castle..." His grin was broad.

With a smirk now playing on her face, Rosa opened the door up and slid out, getting to her chambers quickly so she could be upset and throw pillows.

A faint blush came to his cheeks, and it seemed even he could get embarassed at a thought- if Cervus would do such a thing then he'd... "You wouldn't..," he protested, sounding indignant for a brief moment before resigning with a sigh. "You're incorrigable, you do realize that?" And so he let himself be helped down to the chambers.
He knew better than to fight Cervus when he made up his mind, let along battle Cervus the king. It wouldn't have been a fair fight anyway.

There, sitting in the library, was Alces. It looked as though he hadn't slept in days, and part of a tree brach was still lodged in his antlers from his previous trip to the Moon Court Castle. His face was buried in his hands as he sat there in the chair, surrounded by various books; most of which contained titles involving the tales of bad things that had happened to the Moon Court in the past, and a few books from Gaia on how to get rid of a spider problem. A few others books were not yet opened, and those consisted of formulas that could be made into chemicals to kill off certain eight-legged creatures.

Filix wandered into the library, glad of the quietness it always seemed to have. Quiet and peace, that was something she'd suddenly realized was special. She could hardly believe she'd once wanted to have some sort of action.
Spotting the other, Filix made her way over to Alces. For a few moments she stared at the books... and the subjects of the books... then tugged a chair to his side, and gently tapped him on the shoulder. "Alces? Are you all right?"

The man opened two fingers to peek through at Filix to see who she was. Usually he would have had at least a vauge idea of who it was by the voice, but now he wasn't even going to bother trying. "Oh, yes Countess, I'm fine."
He reclosed his open fingers and eventually slid both hands off of his face and rested them in his lap, gently pushing a book to the floor now that he was done looking through it. He turned to stare at her a few moments before deciding she could tell he was lying and changed his response to a simple, "No."
