He remembered that, remembered it clearly, from before he fell asleep, though at this moment he didn't recall he was asleep. He remembered it, so why did he feel, now, at this moment, that it wasn't real? Like nothing he cared about, nothing he had ever enjoyed, were real. All that was real was this moment. This moment of utter stillness, silence, where he was alone. Very alone, no one else around.
And it was terrifying. He didn't know why he was so scared, for he valued his alone time. But yet sitting here, now, it was so terrifying he wanted to scream and beg for some one else to come to him, sit with him... beat him, he didn't care. It would be better then this silent stillness. He opened his mouth to scream, then shut it again. Something horrible stirred in his heart, a thought that if he did, he'd make things worse. He didn't know how it could be worse, but he was sure it could, and so he went still.
After an eternity, or perhaps a mere moment, it was impossible to tell, he decided to try to explore this nothing place, see if there was a way out. He began to walk. He walked, and walked, and walked, and nothing changed. For all he could tell, he wasn't moving at all. Finally, exhausted by the interminable walking, he collapsed to his knees, and stared at the dark ground below him. Where was he? Why couldn't he escape? Where was everyone else?
An ugly thought occurred to him. What if... what if this was real? What if this was ALL that was real, and everything he'd done, everything he'd lived had only been in his mind, creations to keep him sane? What if, in fact, he really was forever here, forever alone in this nothingness? He couldn't cope with that thought, and the mere idea made him scream and scream.

3 AM. His nights had been rather peaceful, no dreams, no nightmares. Except for tonight. Tonight... was different. He was in a familiar place, with familiar-looking objects at his feet.
Crunch
Crack
"Save us."
There was another voice. Tired. Pleading.
"Please... promise me... you won't... do anything..." "...rash."
Rash? He didn't... understand. But then he looked down. And saw. And knew what he had done.
At his feet were weapon tablets. Broken weapon tablets, each with what looked like a puncture mark in the middle, cracks spreading out from it. In his hands was the broken fragments of one, but not just that. Blood. Blood, and in his other hand...
He stared at the weapon as if he had grown a third arm. This... where did he... It was a dagger, but not just any dagger. A familiar one. His... artifact. It, too, was covered in blood, and as he looked down once again, the puncture marks looked just like...
But... how? ... the blood finally made sense.
Dropping the tablet and dagger, he reeled back, clutching his head. No... no... nononononono this wasn't happening. This... wasn't...
He remembered... people betraying him. She had pleaded for him to let it go, but... he hadn't. He killed them. But... they weren't... These were weapon tablets, which meant they belonged to hunters. Which meant... he killed... Were they the enemy? Or had he betrayed them? Either way, blood stained his hands, and they were broken tablets that had marks seeming to match his weapon. There was no way out of this.
No, this was wrong. This wasn't how it went. This wasn't how it was... supposed to be...

The tangy scent of salty air filled the car as they drove along the highway, the ocean spread out beside them. All the windows were down, with an overly large canine mutt sticking his head out the back window, tongue flapping in the wind. Fini laughed, sticking her hand back out into the cool air. "I can't wait to get out there in the waves!" She said to the man driving, flashing a huge grin his way.
But it wasn't who she thought it was going to be there. No. No this was a familiar nightmare. One she'd had when she was little. But it was not her father behind the wheel. Finn? Fini glanced behind her again. She'd never had a dog... Vashi.
No. No no no! Her breath caught, the words freezing on her tongue. No, Finn! Watch the road! It was coming. Whatever 'it' was. It was mostly just a sense of 'knowing'. Finn look out! She tried desperately to scream. But she continued to laugh and smile. Until the car slammed into something. She hit the side of the car, feeling the phantom cuts from so many years ago. That horrible screeching of metal and tires was deafening.
She must have blacked out. When she was moving again, she wasn't restrained by her seatbelt any more. Or the car period. It was displayed in front of her, in all it's gruesome horror. "No... " Not again, please no! Instead of phantom images of what may have been family, all she saw was the mangled bodies of Finn and Vashi.
NO! I can't lose anyone again. I... can't...

She was running. The scent of smoke filled the air. Fire. Saiyuri cackled, watching the beautiful flames greedily take what they wanted. The Fear radiating off those around the fire was just absolutely delicious! The horseman trotted around to each human in turn, instilling even more Fear into them.
And then she was coughing. And liquid was tracing down her cheeks. The flames were no longer being so kind. And the humans were laughing.

For what really made such a demon cringe was something he tried to keep at the back of his mind in his memories, and it had morphed into something wicked than the truth . . . morphed into his fears.
His home . . . that gilded cage of his where San grew up among his violent family of Rakshasas; the anger was infectious and the rage. He was a child at that time, serious and stern as always, but he managed to be normal around his friend, a young Rakshasi by the name of Amala. They were playing together one day outside in dusk; laughing and giggling of such glee. That is, until Amala tripped over and fell down. Her knee was badly scraped and she was bleeding. The blood . . . it had such a tantalizing scent that filled his nostrils up. His heart raced. His mouth salivate. He was hungry . . . “No! No I can’t . . .” He was screaming in his mind, but it had no control over his body as his sharpen nails and teeth.
“GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”
Sounds of shredding echoed the air and the metallic scent of blood as San was licking up the blood soaked hands. His family appeared, pleased to see what they have seen for he was what they wanted; a hungry demon to make their family proud. Hearing their cheers, there was a craze look in his glowing eyes as he stared at them. The cheering had stopped and they were in fear of their son. He wasn’t their son at that moment as he slowly shift forms to something in between of his humanoid form and tiger; a man beast who then leaped on them.
“Damn it! Why can’t I stop? Please . . . please, I want to stop this . . . this hunger.”
“But . . . so hungry . . . I need more . . . more that I kept inside.”
His mind had no control over what his body crave; what he had deprived of it. It wanted more, he wanted more. His entire being was crying in utter pain as blood dripped from his sharpen nails while searching for more to quench his thirst. That was when he saw a familiar fluffy demon . . . with two swishing tails beckoning him, and his heart died at the very moment.

Akakios' dreams rarely fell into the realm of unpleasant. A young boil with few cares in the world aside from the obvious gap of memories he was missing, but he could work to rebuild those with time. Or well.. it didn't bother him, but he figured he'd either remember, or find them all again one way or another.
Fretting over the missing things wasn't doing him any real good after all.
Which was why finding himself in an eery darkness, the world pitch aside from a single patch of grass at his feet felt so awkward. Where were the usual sounds of laughter? Lost in the echo? "Hello..?" His own voice seemed to be swallowed up as he took a slow step forward, then another. A mistake he soon learned as the grass changed, shifted to something twisted and dyed with red. A slosh was heard as he seemed to find something odd to have stepped in. He peered down, curious as he noticed it was a puddle before kneeling to get closer. Nearer still.
And then he realized what it was, why the world was red. A lump of what once had been alive lay there, no warmth left as he scooted back, ears falling flat. Even as he did he found his hand bumping something else, the world growing wider now. His spotlight seeming to spread to reveal twisted bits of metal, rusted over, and shadows looming far off. Larger ones ambling along, and smaller, seeming to stare straight at him.
It was then he noticed the noises, or perhaps they'd just started. A low hum that grew, the voices of the masses around him that gestured in his direction all muddled into a single mess. A mass of disappointment.
How could you...
He hadn't... he wouldn't? Why would he have-
Why would you do this to us all?
It was hard to make them all out, but each condemned him, questioning it even while he found himself trying to inch away from it all. He hadn't... he didn't do this... did he? Even as tiny little pleas escaped him, asking for answers all he got was further taunts of monsters, the mesh growing more and more thunderous as it went on. And as it did he could only shrink back, trying to block out the noise that had no escape, sinking further into that pool of blood he had obviously caused.
Because they said so, right?
I did not... I promise...

Amityville was under siege.
The school yard was illuminated in red as the flames licked at the centuries old buildings, tearing into the classrooms that only hours before she had been sitting in. The roar of the fire was deafening, and yet it's fury was masked by the sounds of steel clashing against steel, the snarls of monsters against the cry of humans, and the flash of a white coat drenched in blood.
Pokerus stood on the edge of this fight for survival, terror grasping her heart with a iron first. Everywhere she looked someone she knew and cared about was being destroyed. A flash of red caught her attention, and Xiu stumbled across her path with a deep wound to her side, pain and terror written clearly on her face. Her pursuer bore a savage grin as she threw a spear with deadly accuracy. The Baku fell where she stood, lifeless eyes staring into nothing.
With rage in her heart she leapt forwards at the hunter who dared to kill her friend. A clawed hand tore through both cloth and flesh to the center of it's heart in a quick slash. But when she looked up into the face of Xiu's killer she only saw pain and suffering, the hurt look of a girl whom had admired her in a time and place that didn't exist. A tear rolled down Ami's face, and she went limp.
She didn't have time to mourn or feel. A shriek echoed over everything else, and Poke dashed to the scene. Mitsu was sobbing on the ground as another hunter pointed a weapon at her head. She recognized her, saw the determined look in Solia's face but couldn't move. She had talked to this hunter, she had been harmless! How could she possibly want to harm her?
Her hesitation proved fatal, and Solia let the arrow fly. Mitsu's cries ceased, leaving Poke to stare in mute horror at what she had done, at what she hadn't done. She could only watch as two others appeared, a one eyed reaper and a cat demon, and they did what she couldn't. The hunter stood no change against their combined wrath and soon enough she was dealt with. The two figures then stared at Poke, the question in their furious eyes obvious; why hadn't she done anything to save their friend? The question would go unanswered, as others came to fight them off.
Only then did Poke jump forward as it was clear the mass of hunters would overwhelm Shun and Riyo, but she was not strong enough to take on of such a large group. The hilt of a sword caught her in the stomach, a gauntlet to her head and the dragon stumbled backwards to her knees. Again she was forced to watch as both demon and reaper decimated the hunter ranks, but even they could not fight them all of.
She couldn't take it anymore. Forcing herself to stand she lunged forward As both Riyo and blade slumped to the ground. Another hunter crossed her path, his back to her, but she did not care, Her hands only sought his neck, his life. Payment for what had been taken from her.
The scenery changed, burning flames sizzled into a churning mass of darkness and water. She felt the hunter struggle against her grasp but she wasn't letting go. Arms held him tight from behind she counted the seconds in her mind, ignoring the pain and waiting for the humans air to run out, for his lungs to fill with water and for him to just stop
Only then did she notice the green goggles in his hair.
The waters echoes with her anguished cry, along with the ghost of laugher from a aunt who congratulated her on a job well done.

If he concentrated hard enough, he thought he could smell the decaying stench of a zombie. Or could he hear the scuttling sounds of spiders?
He wasn't sure, and didn't plan to stay around long enough to find out.
It was disorienting to run when you have no idea where you were going, but Jason did the best he could, trying to ignore the tightening feeling in his chest as his surroundings began to take form. Dark mounds were popping up all around him, but he ignored them. Up until he felt his leg catch on one and sent him toppling to the ground. In a panic he scrambled into a crouch thinking he was being attacked, but nothing came at him. In fact, he couldn't feel anyone chasing him. He was alone.
Breathing fast, he placed a hand on the mound to help himself up, feeling the rough texture of stone underneath his touch. Moving his hand across it he could feel ridges had been carved into it.
It didn't take much for him to realize that he was touching a grave stone.
Standing up, Jason could see he was surrounded by them. Identical gravestones, each with a name of a hunter. With shaking hands, he pushed himself to his feet and stepped around the grave to see who it was.
Solia Delacroix
He could feel the moisture build up in his eyes as he spotted a few other names that were familiar to him, including a certain sun lead. And everywhere he turned, he saw more gravestones to mark the fallen. Every one of them looking the same as the last.
He stumbled backwards, and again tripped over another grave. With his legs hanging over the top he laid on the ground, staring up into the ever present darkness and watched, his hole body shaking as he struggled to breath due to panic, a hooded figure approach him. Though he couldn't make out the face, the large scythe that it carried was hard to miss. And when he looked down at the tombstone that he had tripped over, he realized it was blank.

And then he ran to get away from the ticking, the sight of a dying sister who was much greater than he and couldn't, wouldn't die because that would be stupid. But the ticking was getting louder and he couldn't think. There was fear in the darkness and it was swallowing him whole and he ran.

Ahm knew he wasn't, he couldn't feel Nahm's presence...but he had hoped that something had been wrong with his senses, that it had been just as simple as reaching out to reconnect with the one being that he just could not live without.
Sitting up and swinging his feet over the edge of...it wasn't a bed, what was that? He couldn't tell...even looking directly at it. The shape and textures kept changing...maybe there was something wrong with him? He felt weak too...and...wow, so thin! Ahm looked down, feeling over the still-healing gashes...the bones that were so easily seen under his pale skin - he was skeletal. What happened?
Suddenly another form comes in - Nahm's name dies on his lips even before it's born into the silence - it's the Elder. His grandfather. He looks...sad?
"Wha-t..ha..p..nd?" Speaking is hard, sounds only coming with extreme effort and from rusty, unused vocal cords. Suddenly his entire body goes frigid and numb. His grandfather stands near him and puts both worn hands on his shoulders, looking down at the Heir with an expression that...makes him want to start shaking his head.
"They're dead. All of them. Humans came."
Ahm starts shaking all over, his head bowed and lips moving with words he can't even bring himself to speak. 'Nahm...mother...father...everyone...'
The old Grue gives his bony shoulders a squeeze and then pushes him back against the...bed? table? whatever it is, it's hard and should feel cold, but Ahm isn't feeling much of anything...he just keeps thinking about his family...his twin. Together they could do anything...alone, he's only half a Grue! Without Nahm...'...oh Jack no...'
"You let this happen, Ahm. You're carelessness killed over half the clan. If you'd done what you should have, this wouldn't have happened!" Ahm looked up at the cold, hard eyes of his grandfather, guts twisting painfully inside with each hate-filled word. "you are to blame for their deaths, not the humans."
Ahm curled into himself and sobbed brokenly, a keening sound of animal pain and loss hit his ears and it took him moments to realize that Jack-awful sound was coming from himself. Over and over he replayed their deaths - he couldn't possibly know how each had come to die but he imagined them over and over...each time more horrifying and painful than the last. It's the same as it always is - was - the same nightmares that have plagued Andy for almost the entirety of his young life. As long as Andy can remember, it's been this way - night after night the shadowy things come creeping, nipping at his heels and dragging impossibly long fingers down his spine. Night after night, only Jordan hears his whimpering cries and night after night, it is his brother that made the 'monsters' go away.
Only this time, Jordan's not there to chase the shadows away and Andrew Miller is left to fight all on his own, with no one else to hear the hoarse-choked whispers or whimpers...
***
Andy finds himself on his home street in the sudden, abrupt and not always sensible way that dreams often work, though he doesn't notice anything different or off about this. The sun shines brightly through a cloudy sky and there is just enough breeze to ruffle the boy's hair, even if he weren't pedaling lazily down the tree-lined street on his bicycle. The day seemed perfect, down to the idyllic leaves floating prettily on the breeze, but then something caught the boy's eye and he stopped his bike, resting one foot on the ground so he could better study the shadowy base of a tree he'd been nearing.
It moved.
Biting back a rush of bile, Andy gripped the handlebars of his bike tightly, knuckles going as white as his face had at the realization that the shadows were moving. Most people, especially adults, didn't believe him - they told him to stop watching scary movies or to stop day-dreaming...that he was just telling stories, making things up for attention. Only Jordan hadn't. His big brother was the only person he'd ever confided to that hadn't laughed in his face...but then, Jordan saw them too. The hairs on the back of his neck rose as he watched the shadows go from the base of the tree and into the street towards him; not for the first time did he desperately wish there were no trees to block the sunlight.
But they couldn't get to him, could they? No. Of course not! He just needed to pretend he'd been looking at some trick of his eyes and then keep on..he'd be safe if he just got home! Keeping the ever-moving shadows in his field of vision while he got ready to go, Andy kicked his bike back into gear and pedaled furiously down the street without a single glance backwards. Jordan had told him over and over, not to ever look back - don't let them know you know if you can help it. He rode the gleaming blue-and-chrome bicycle up their empty drive way and got off, barely making himself kick the stand down so it didn't crash to the concrete.
Up the steps to the front door and into the house, it didn't take him long before he'd locked the door against the shadowy things outside. It was more of a symbolic gesture, since the damned things could make it into the house via shared shadows...but he still felt 100% better having done it.
Inside the house was dark, far darker than it had ever been during the day time; as he walked the rooms looking for his family, he got that nape-prickling feeling again. "Jordan?" Was his brother playing a prank on him? Where was everyone? Scratching, scraping sounds followed him up the stairs - had his house always had stairs? he couldn't remember - and he nearly tripped over something on the landing.
His red baseball cap. The one Jordan had given him. Why was it on the floor?
Andy picked it up, swallowing hard as he noticed the condition it was in. Mauled. Blood soaked. He made a whimpery sound of dismay and dropped the hat...which rolled towards his brother's bedroom. Hats couldn't roll, could they? Were the shadows doing it? Andy tried choking down another whimper, hating himself for being so weak and scared, but he couldn't. wiping the blood on his t-shirt and jeans, the youth made his way to Jordan's room as though compelled; he absolutely didn't want to go, but his legs were moving as though driven by a separate force.
Looking down, he saw shadow-beasts with red glowing eyes attached to each ankle, their "arms" disappeared into his calves. They wanted him to go into the room, to see what they had done. Against his will and with his chest heaving, Andrew Miller entered his beloved brother's room where something Horrible awaited him.
"Andy."
He opened his eyes to see Jordan sitting on the edge of a neatly made bed, glowering at him. "J-jordan?" He was sniffling, scared and felt like he would pass out at any moment from the fear that pulsed strongly through his veins. But then his brother spoke again and confirmed all his darkest fears, his worst nightmare come to pass.
"I'm one of the Shadows, Andy...and I've come for you. We've come for you...now be a good boy and fight us...it's so much more fun that way!" Jordan's laughter was like nails across a chalkboard to Andy and he started sobbing, shaking his head even as his legs brought him closer and closer; his not-brother's hands - claws, shadowy claws - reached for him, pulling him closer while not-Jordan's mouth split open, growing more and more impossibly wide and filled with row upon row of razor teeth.
"No-no-no-no-NO!" As one final, terrified scream ripped from Andrew Miller's mouth it was caught by the Impossible maw of what had once been his beloved brother.
And then he was swallowed by the darkness. whole.

She is the tendrils of smoke curling around her fingertips, sliding over her scales and through the folds of her clothes. Thick and suffocating, she fills a tiny room, lit only by old candles burned almost completely down to the wick. She covers the windows and the doors, her presence so heavy that there would be no chance of pushing her out of the way. Her presence behaved like smoke, but was as unmovable as a boulder, trapping the circle of oracles in that tiny room.
Delphyne recognized the faces, but not their names, she could recognize her own face in the group now. It was disorienting, to see her body but to not be in it, to see her hands reach out to connect to the two older oracles beside her without being told to. Delphyne didn't want to, but there her body was, acting as if on instinct, or if it was predestined to do just as it was doing.
She was the smoke, but she was so horribly trapped. She swirled and pulsed, twisting down back to her body to try and break through the barrier of flesh. For being undead, it was unimaginably difficult, and try as she might to return to the shell of her body, she couldn't. The smoke pillowed and rose to her nostrils, seeking entry there, but upon bringing herself up to her own face she was terrified.
Her expression was blank, emotionless, but in that moment she felt it all. Resignation, defeat, begrudging acceptance of who she was meant to be. Another nameless oracle. I HEREBY AGREE BY ENTERING THAT I AM SIGNING MY CHARACTER UP FOR POTENTIAL SUFFERING (such surprise bro!)

It wasn't that Lumi couldn't keep up...no it was more like she didn't want to keep up. She had finally agreed to let Julian see where she was from...and now, now she was clearly dreaming because he was there racing ahead of her even after she tried to back out of it. She winced she knew he was familiar with creatures that were similar such as the Kitsune students at school...but Kumiho's...they had that horrible reputation of being well different...with the whole ghouls are best boils are only useful for two things...and one of things included feeding...so yeah she was trying to take her easy old time getting there.
Her ears twitched slightly,
"Julian!"
Silence greeted her. The sound was dreadful her heart pounded. This wasn't happening she had told him about her year exam...her fear of losing those she loved...she didn't tell him it was him...or better yet it was at the hands of.
"Ah 친애 (dear one) I see you have brought us a new toy."
She froze, no...not Julian this couldn't be happening. She turned to see him unharmed. But she didn't need to harm him to make her point.
"Please 언니 (older sister) please..leave him alone..I...he's..."
The laughter that rang out, only served to make her shudder. And the look on Julian's face. He looked so disgusted by her, no...he can't...Lumi pulled her arms in tightly as she fell to the ground screaming at them both,
"Stop it...stop laughing! Please..."
"So pathetic...I can't believe that I liked her." "Come my pet...I can show you what true Kumiho's are like..."
...please...
