Sweetie nodded as he spoke. It looked like he was doing pretty good on whatever part of the woods he'd been in. And then all the talk about digging. Her eyes were spinning just thinking about it. The fauny needed a break before she could even think about digging a hole. At least, something to let her rest before even more grueling work.

"Maybe we should split a coconut first?" Sweetie suggested, thinking about the refreshing milk the coconuts offered. Yes, it was a bit of work, but it would be easier to split open one of those things and rest a moment than it would be to get straight into digging. At least, that's where her mind was going.

"And then we can dig that hole. But, Celestia, was that a heavy log..." She didn't mean to complain so much, but the prospect of working so hard after working really hard? Ugh. Call her a girly girl, she'd take it. But a break...

"Oh... right..." His stomach grumbled at the mention of eating. He had been so preoccupied with the work and the gruesome discovery that he had completely forgotten about his other needs. "That's a good idea..." He took a deep breath, he knew he needed to calm down before he wore himself out. "Yeah... are you okay?" he asked her as he looked up in the trees. "Do you have enough strength to knock down one of these coconuts?" He felt bad for asking after all that she had done. If all else failed he'd use his own methods to get one.

Sweetie looked at the tree and then back to Dysmas. She didn't want to seem any more helpless than she had the day before, but at the same time she wasn't sure how much she had in her at the moment. It was surely enough to get a silly coconut or two down from the tree right?

"Let's see?" She shrugged, trying to keep her gait steady as she walked over to their fruit tree. Looking up, it looked daunting and scary. Almost certain she was going to fail this time, the fauny turned around and reared up. Yeah, this was gonna end miserably.

Thwack!

She gasped, dropping to the sandy ground as a couple of coconuts dropped with her. There was no way she was going to be able to buck the coconuts down like that again. Her arms were too tired to support the motion.

Sweetie grunted, choosing to lie face first in the sand for a moment. It was better than trying to lift herself up. Not moving that stupid tree again. Stupid trunk. Trees were nice, this trunk was just... Not nice.

Dysmas lunged towards Sweetie, trying to catch her when he realized she was going down, but he had been too far back. He offered her his arms anyways. "Sweetie... I'm so sorry..." Dysmas felt even worse now... she was doing so much.

He quickly got to work on the coconut, working it like he had before and breaking off a piece for Sweetie as quickly as possible. It was the least he could do for her. "Here... you should rest for a while. I'll work on the hole when I'm done eating and stuff." He would need to head back down to the water after he was done eating and take a swim, but he'd keep it short this time.

Sweetie rubbed her head, wishing she had more in her reserves than just what she'd expended. She was utterly useless right then.

"Don't apologize, I offered... Right?" She tried to smile, mostly just hiding the grunt of irritation at her own body. She was an earth fauny for Celestia's sake! She should be able to handle this physical stuff, that's what made her proud to be an earth fauny!

"Don't over do it, we don't need both of us exhausted." This time she did smile, happy to tease about her own lack of strength. "Thank you for the coconut Dysmas." Her tone was soft, sweet. She was grateful he was willing to crack the coconuts open for the two of them. Celestia knew she wouldn't have been able to.

Dysmas had asked though... and he wasn't so sure if she would have refused him. "I guess..." he sounded as uncertain as he felt. He quickly began working on his piece of coconut, he had been really hungry, he just hadn't known until recently. "I'm going to walk down to the water real quick... check if there is any boats on the horizon or something..." Dysmas added as he stood up. "Stay here and rest... I won't be long."

She shrugged, really not minding having spent the last of her strength on getting them food. It wasn't all that bad. They got something to eat and drink out of the deal, so it was a win.

"Take your time, you like the water." Sweetie smiled, chewing on the milky white part of the coconut. The taste was awful, but it was way better than the alternative. "S' not like the camp is going anywhere." A gentle tease. If she was feeling up to it soon, she wanted to help dig the hole to bury whatever part of that stupid hollow trunk that he wanted in the sand. Celestia help her, she knew she was going to be tired for ages after this.

Dysmas smiled at her tease, she seemed to be better about him leaving her alone now. Dysmas was more on edge about it after what he had seen, but he would have to hope she would be safe. Though, he was extra quick about his swim because of his concern. Dysmas jogged down to the shore and jumped straight into the water. He let it soak in for a little while, looking out on the horizon for boats, like he had said he would, nothing. Dysmas sighed, wondering how long it might take, he had to hope it was something that was going to happen.

As Dysmas emerged from the water, he dragged his feet in the sand, trying to carve out a giant 'X' that might draw attention if a boat went by he put it up far enough along that it wouldn't be washed away later. Then he returned.

Sweetie mostly spent her time resting. She was tired, between a rather uncomfortable evening and a stressful day before that, and of course the effort in pulling that huge log. Sweetie knew she wasn't going to be able to keep going if she didn't at least relax a little. She wasn't entirely sound about Dysmas leaving her alone, but she didn't have much of a choice. He looked like he needed to swim and she wasn't going to be moving for a while.

Before he'd had the chance to return, the fauny had made herself get up and start trying to dig a hole. At least she was pushing some of the sand around to make it look like she was trying to dig a hole. She wouldn't have been getting too far with it when he returned.

Dysmas noticed right away that she was digging away at the hole he had talked about digging. "Hey, you didn't need to do that yet, you could've rested a bit." Considering that was sort of what he had been doing, even if it was partially for survival, he felt bad that she had been working while he had a bit of play in the water. Dysmas kneeled down beside her and began digging as well, two hands were better then one. "You... doing alright?" he asked her uncertainly, trying to break the silence that came from working hard. "There's the roof... you could do that if you want to do something more... restful. Sort of weave the leaves together? Then we'll toss it over the log... and..." Dysmas was trying to picture the idea he had in his mind again... he was sort of figuring it out as he went along.

Sweetie grunted, not entirely meaning to be rude. She was just trying to make sure they had a place to rest at night. Chances are, this wasn't going to get anywhere near done if they didn't keep plugging away at it tonight. But that also meant that she was going to be plum useless tomorrow... But for now, this stupid hole...

"I'm not really sure how to weave the leaves together? How is this gonna work Dysmas?" She asked, looking at him. The female had stopped long enough to take a small break. She felt like she deserved it after everything she'd been doing so far. It was good progress, but that didn't mean that she felt anywhere near ready to stop for the day. Okay, that was a total lie. She wanted to curl up and sleep the rest of the day, and probably most of tomorrow too.. But that would never get them living comfortably or rescued.

Dysmas' lips parted partially, he didn't really know what to tell her. He hated to admit that he was only going off a picture he had in his mind and had no idea what he was really doing. "Well if you sort of tie them together... and... well I was thinking of throwing it over the log, and then letting it sort of drape... maybe using the vines to hold up parts of it so that there is more space underneath." Dysmas was kind of surprised at how easily that had come out. That was what he saw in his mind, but he wasn't sure how well it would work out in reality.

Sweetie frowned a bit, listening to how he told her to put the fronds together. It all sounded so weird, but it kind of made sense at the same time. Shrugging, the fauny set to the task.

"This wound up being more complicated than it sounded." The female laughed, having spent at least a couple of minutes attempting to tie the palm leaves together so they would make a decent roof. She wasn't sure about the vine additions at the top, but it was something at least. Best yet, it really did look like she was getting some progress done.

Dysmas kept looking over his shoulder at Sweetie as he was digging his hole. He felt bad... asking her to do all these things. "I'm sorry... I thought..." Dysmas sighed... he didn't even know what to say to her now.
The digging kept getting harder as Dysmas went deeper into the ground and the sand and dirt became more packed. He started using the shower head to break up some of it. Finally he had a hole deep enough that it looked like it could support the log. Dysmas rolled it over and then slowly tipped it into the hole. "There..." Dysmas said, exasperated as he flopped to the ground and leaned against it. It was a lot shorter now that it was so deep in the ground, but once the leaf 'blanket' was on top, it would hopefully do the trick.

Sweetie stretched, not comfortable by any means, but she was getting further along with the roof thing than she had thought she would. By the time Dysmas had gotten the log rolled into the hole she was almost finished. It might not have been perfect by any means, but she was willing to bet it was a lot better than nothing. And it would work nicely to keep them dry if it rained.

The fauny smiled, standing up to see how the log fit into the hole. Wait a second, why did they dig the hole? It seemed a little odd to her, but then, she lived in a giant living tree. She really couldn't say this was too different.

"Looks good Dysmas." The smile was still on her face, genuinely proud of what he'd accomplished. He'd done so much with so little.
