Atomica's team was out of the Pit of Darkness and playing catch-up to Rochelle and Robecca on the final stretch...it was smooth skating from here on out, except for the large green puddles of icky, sticky slime. Skating through one could be disasterous! The puddles bubbled up through cracks in the floor randomly and drained away just as quickly. There was no pattern to predict. The only way to get through was to react and correct course each time a puddle oozed up.
"Look out!" Atomica called out to Meme as a puddle spouted up in front of her, almost touching her red clown nose. Atomica wanted to calculate the odds of catching up with Robecca now, but all of her processing power was dedicated to avoiding the gooey messes.

"OH-Oh my ghoul!" Vanissha covers her mouth and nose with her jacket trying not to breath heavy. The stench was horrid, but the taste was even worse. It was really bad when you could taste what you smell. Ew! She coughed a little moving away from Dorianna. "Don't worry, Tori's mom has all kinds of home remedies for this kinda thing. It's like herbs and... uhhh grape juice. Yeah that's it..." Vanissha couldn't remember all the ingredients. But I was some kinda fruit juice. Did I really matter what one? "You soak in a bath tub full of the stuff. Takes the stench right away."

Atomica Servo His big meaty mitt grabbed hers, and it was too late for her servos to auto-correct. She spun Manny mightily and released him with a flawless trajectory towards the exit. However, her previous blow from the stone column had messed up her biometrics a bit....and she realized too late that she had calculated far too much lift for Manny's mass...."AAaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!" Manny cried out as he flew out of the pit, up over the viewing screen in a beautiful arc, and landed flat on top of Gil Weber in the waiting area.
*SPLAT* Chase looked up and his head followed the sailing form of Manny Taur in the wide arc over the video screens high above and right down to where he crash landed on poor Gil Webber!
Chase promptly held up a sign with a great big "10" on it for form and precision!
He then looked down into the camera.
"Yo! Drake! Did you catch that? That is definitely going on bootube! I... Drake?"

Glen shared a look with Anne and Ryder and he led the three over toward the pileup on tangled limbs that 'was' Manny Taur and Gil Webber. Lagoona was fretting over Gil as was Deuce who was also talking to Nero, the fll-in for Gil.
Glen skided to a halt above his big bluddy Manny and leaned in."Does it hurt?" And all eyes slowly turned to look at Glen.

Nero started doing flexes to stretch out his limbs. He didn't know a lot of SKRM but he knew about fleeing the gendarmerie in the catacombs of Scaris. Underground music shows were forbidden in the skull-lined corridors, when they caught teenagers they arrested them...probably. Or maybe just escorted them home. Either way the parents found out and that was not a risk Nero was willing to take. Who knows how long he's be grounded for! Probably not as bad and Monte Scarlo but his archaeologist parents might take special exception to hanging around historical monuments. So he's learned to think fast on his feet, turn a quick corner and not crush anything too historical.
Nero began to cough. Something was happening in the bleachers, he didn't know what, but it smelled revolting. He couldn't wait for his team's round to start just to get away. He slowly flexed away from the smell.

The two teams were neck and neck in the final stretch, Atomica doing everything in her power to try to hang with Robecca. For an instant, she was tied with Robecca....and then ahead! Atomica's grin started to grow as she gained a nose of a lead....
And then a giant slime geyser erupted underneath her feet, knocking her to the left and careening into the stacks of tires on the side of the track. Robecca beared down forward, and....
"Winners! Robecca Steam, Rochelle Goyle and Manny Taur!" Ghoulia held up an arm to indicate that the race was over as Clawd announced the winners. Covered in viscous, sticky slime, Atomica tried to hide her face in shame as the crowd erupted in cheers for Robecca and Rochelle.
So much for her chance to be team captain. She probably wouldn't even make-
"Hey, great match, Atomica. Can I give you a hand?" Atomica looked up to see Robecca Steam on her knees in the slime, offering to help Atomica up. "That was a real hum-dinger of a race! Great job to everyone!"
Atomica's eyebrows arched, and for a moment she wavered... but then she reached out and her slimy hand took Robecca's. The crowd erupted in another cheer as Robecca held up Atomica's arm, and Rochelle skated up behind Meme and Marceline to raise theirs.
"Fang-tastic!" Clawd told them all as he frantically scribbled down some notes. "That's what I'm talkin' about! All right! Let's get some mops on the track here, and Heat 3, get lined up!"

Gryff was trying to decide between organic microbrewed Hydebiscus grimger ale or locally produced grimger brew with grimsing where the bottles were made from recycled bicycles. The former had a side-effects warning printed in red font on the side, but it was organic...
He looked up, hearing his name. It was coming from the bleachers, but everyone was standing up and he couldn't see anyone beckoning to him. Many monsters were cheering but a small group seemed to be falling all over themselves to get out of the bleachers entirely.
" Humph. Probably realized how lame this is. Well at least if enough of them leave I can enjoy myself in peace."

Forgetting Ronan and Sweety for a brief moment, Lin swerved his head around in shock at the outcome of the previous SKRM race, his eyes wide open.
"Boo! BOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Glen had Manny's hand clasped in his own, trying to help his bluddy to his feet when Clawd called out that it was time for the third 'heat'. Glen let out and excited 'w00p' of excitement and let go of of Manny, causing him to fall back atop of Gil (again) and he bolted over to the starting point.
"Wheeeeee!"

At Clawd's motion Nero, Deuce and Lagoona took their places and crouched at the starting line. Nero could feel his calf muscles twitching and he took a deep breath. He'd gotten lucky enough to try out, he wasn't going to ruin it with a false start. A time penalty would count double against them because of Glen. Mini-bro was made of caffiend and even if his ability to turn and stop wasn't so good, that edge of speed couldn't be ignored.
He caught the eyes of his team mates and they silently air-fist-bumped in solidarity. He knew he could count on his bros....and brolita.
"On your mark!" Clawd raised an arm and the two teams tensed, preparing to launch.
"Get set!"
Nero mentally ran down in his head all the obstacles he'd seen so far and rolled his neck. He could do this. He could, at the very least, make it all the way through.
"GO!"
The horn blared and they rocketed down the chute. Nero used his size to his advantage and let the weight build speed for him, crouching as low to the ground as possible to minimize air resistance. As soon as his eyes had adjusted to the dark of the tunnel they burst into the maze.
The air was damp and as they shot forward the floor dropped away into lake filled with piranha and a patchwork of irregular stepping stones, each barely a foot across, leading to the other side. The fish leaped out of the water towards them, trying to grab a bite.
Lagoona shot forward ahead of them.
"FOLLOW ME!" she called behind to her team mates, and as Nero and Deuce skated from stone to stone, they could hear Lagoona politely but firmly telling the fish to leave her team alone.

As Atomica made her way back to the player's benches, Gryff came up behind her and handed her a chilled Ion-Grumpuccino.
"Your talents are wasted on these people. Come on, I need to update my blahg with video of Manny's profound inability to follow the laws of gravity.."
He placed a napkin on her sticky shoulder before patting it once.
"I really need a hexpresso."

Glen finished off his last Red Ghoul and gave it a toss (where Chase caught it from the stands) smiled brightly as he crouched low beside his teammates, Anne and Ryder. he turned and gave Nero a friendly thumbs up as a manner of good sportsmanship.
"Dude! You know what to do!" Ryder said as he passed a flaming torch over to Glen's hands and Glen held it to the tires on the hextreme merboy's wheels and they ignited brightly! Ryder then turned back with his hands on the wheels of his wheelchair.
"GO!"
And all six kids took off at top speed and raced past the track and into the dark interior of the maze's entrance! Glen built a head of steam, very little (pun intended) in his path to stop him as he slid beside Lagoona and managed to pass her as he came up on Nero's left. How did a guy so big get so fast?
The six kids came upon a corridor in the maze that opened into that lake with biting pirahnas snapping at them. While Lagoona was able to circumvent this obstacle easily enough, Glen's team was another matter.
Ryder got a burning start and kicked off at the edge as Anne grasped the handlebars of his wheelchair and the merboy 'flew' them over the lake's side and landed on the opposite 'shore'. Glen took an 'alternative route' and raced up the side of the wall, swerved upside down on the ceiling of the cavern and down the other side of the wall, landing on the floor and following, quickly working to catch up!

Nero couldn't believe it, they were in the lead! He pumped his legs as hard as he could. Now that he didn't have the advantage of downward slope he had to keep his momentum going. The maze began to switchback rapidly and he pivoted expertly. This was familiar ground and there weren't even any pre-Byzantine skulls that he had to worry about crushing.
He made a hairpin turn and found a long open stretch lay before him. This was trouble. No obvious traps? No giant dangling from the ceiling? There was nothing, well nothing except that peculiar clicking sound above him.
He threw all his weight to the left as a giant spider threw a web at the spot he'd just been.
"Look out!" he called to his team, "Arachnattack!"
