Rochelle - Ring Toss
5 marks

She'd arrived early for once. They were supposed to meet at some point in the future and, as predicted, she quickly became bored. The ring toss taunted her mercilessly until she snagged a few and started to toss them - not bad in her opinion, for never having played before. It was sort of like skipping rocks?

Riarna - PC Weavers Stall
SETTING UP

She had just gotten the string into place when she heard a voice calling her name. A familiar voice, no less, and one that immediately switched Riarna from polite chatter to saleswoman. She turned around, setting aside her tools so she would have her hands free to handle what might very well be her first customer of the day.

"Weyrwoman Kindra!" Riarna smiled at Kindra, a repeat customer (as she had hoped the first time she had sold Kindra a dress and included the embroidery for much less than it was worth). "Good day. You've reached the booth early; not everything is out yet."

Kindra's inquiry about one of the items that was on the table made Riarna briefly pat herself on the back for having the good sense to get out her clothing items, even if they weren't all up yet.

"Ah, you would mean this." She picked up the soft fabric and shook it out, holding it up for Kindra to see. "A Gather Dress. Cap sleeves, V-neck, and made from an excellent bolt of green linen I was lucky to find from some Traders the other week. As usual, embroidery can be added." She gave Kindra a moment to inspect it before she asked, "Are you looking to purchase another gown, Weyrwoman?"

N'mol - PC Weavers Stall
11 Marks [10 (Rank), 1 (Earned, Threadfall Pearls)]

N'mol had taken time to make himself beyond presentable for the Gather. Its dual-purpose as both a social event and a remembrance of Kleos's lost Wingsecond necessitated an additional focus on presentation. He wouldn't arrive half-dressed to something that was important to one of his fellow Wingleaders.

Dressed in the red shirt Kindra had bought for him at the last Gather, N'mol strode slowly through the stalls of goods, looking for Kindra. Knowing her, she would arrive early to get first call on any items she saw that she wanted. She'd be more inclined to buy what she wanted and then relax, rather than the other way around.

Sure enough, N'mol soon spotted her dark hair and the purple gown N'mol had seen on a single occasion when Kindra had put it away in her clothes chest. Now that he had the opportunity to see it on her, N'mol took the opportunity to admire her as he approached the stall. The purple was a definite change, but it certainly wasn't a bad one. The fact that the woman she was speaking to was holding up another gown, though, told N'mol that Kindra was already seriously inquiring into ways to spend her money on more clothing she didn't necessarily need.

"See something you like already? I wasn't that late," N'mol teased, grinning at her as he slipped an arm around his weyrmate's waist and looked down at her.

Looking up at the pair of Weavers in the stall before them, he took stock of both and offered an amiable smile of greeting, but saw one Weaver's eyes sweep over his shirt, he presumed in assessment. He doubted she would find it wanting; if Kindra purchased it, he imagined it couldn't be anything less than decent. "Hello, Lady Weavers. How are you?"

Idris – 7 & 3/4 Marks – PC Weavers Stall

((OOC – Moving her along a bit so that she can interact with some PCs! Hope you don’t mind!))

Ah, so they were from Benden. “Understandable,” Idris agreed, “given the recent unrest in the area.” And that was all she would say. Tact and discretion went hand in hand, and regardless of her personal feelings it would be indecorous to openly insult someone else’s home – even a home that they’d fled for their own safety.

She lingered there making polite conversation until the wineglass was empty and the Gather was in full swing, with riders and weyrlings and Candidates alike making their purchases and playing the games. Well, she had promised Singhath that she’d come back with something nice for him… Maybe she’d stop by the trader’s stall at some point. But for the moment she browsed, content to wander.

The stall shared by Kaylen and Riarna caught her eye, and Idris paused there, picking up one of the soft scarves – or was it a sash? – to admire the texture and color of the fabric. “These are lovely. Would it be possible for me to commission one in a specific color, to be picked up at a later date?” she inquired of Kaylen curiously.

And at the other end of the stall, there was a familiar face, a pair of familiar faces in fact, investigating the green Gather dress held up by the other weaver. “Weyrwoman – Wingleader. An honor to see the both of you. I hope you are enjoying yourselves at the Gather thus far?”

N'mol - PC Weavers Stall

N'mol looked over at the address and it took him only a moment to recognize Kleos's new Wingsecond. He hadn't met the rider previously, had no knowledge of her before now, but the fact that Kleos's new Second had ended up being both a female and an atypical rider didn't surprise him.

He smiled. It was an accomplishment for anyone to earn a rank, and N'mol was sure that time would prove she had earned the distinction. Kleos might have prejudices of her own, but she wouldn't risk her wing for them.

"Wingsecond Idris. We are, thank you. Congratulations on your promotion." N'mol released Kindra to move to her other side. By closing the gap between them and Idris, it was possible for him to stretch out his hand in an offered shake to her. "Neither Kleos, nor K'tar, would have picked anyone they didn't know would do an excellent job helping lead a wing."

Riarna - PC Weavers Stall

With her guests at least momentarily distracted, Riarna set the dress aside and moved around the table to retrieve the controversially bright blanket and a pair of tablecloths. She set the latter a space or two away from the pants and shirts already residing on the table, and the former she leaned at the very end of the stall's counter, propping it against the edge of the opening.

Although she continued to observe the ongoing conversation-- and get a good, close-up look at the new Wingsecond-- Riarna continued to bring items out of her boxes and arrange them fairly artfully around her section of the stall. She couldn't just stop setting up for a conversation between some persons of rank. If she did, they wouldn't end up buying anything, assuming that they were interested in what she had to sell.

Rather than the dress, Riarna stepped out of the stall to hang up the pair of women's shirts that had been resting on her counter. She'd wait to put the dress up until she was certain Kindra wasn't interested. After all, the girl had brought Riarna a bit of extra business after Kindra started spreading the Weaver's name around. That sort of help deserved a bit of grateful observance-- though, if someone else came up and asked about the dress and was intent on buying it while Kindra was waffling, Riarna was going to try to convince Kindra to take a commission instead and sell it to the newcomer.

Zarike
(Marks: 1 & 7/8th
Points: 0)

Ten points was ok. Not quite as good as his first go, but it'd be enough for his purpose. Zarike looked over the prize offerings again, frowning as he realized his points wouldn't go as far as he wanted. Most of the prizes weren't all that great... lots of firelizard toys, jewelery and girly things. Sure Orlina was a girl, but she wasn't a girl. It'd be weird if he gave her a bracelet or a comb.

Ideally, he'd get her the belt pouch, and his dad the journal, but he hadn't got enough points for both. Actually... he bet Orlina would really like a firelizard harness for Star... and he'd already won one of those. Zarike looked down at the white harness in his hand. He really didn't have anyone he needed to send messages too, and it was doubtful that Dorado would ever leave him long enough to deliver a message. Terra might, but the harness itself was way too big for the little green. He'd really wanted it though...

"Can I get the brown pouch with the bone toggle, and the wooden cups?" He'd give the cups to his dad. Hyasin would probably think he was being silly for buying him something but Zarike knew it'd make the old harper happy anyways and that's what mattered. Orlina would get the harness, and if for some reason she didn't want it, then the pouch could be hers. He'd be happy with either himself, and he still had the bag of sweets to share on top of it.

Satisfied, Zarike left the games for now to see where he might be able to spend the rest of his allowance.

Kaylen - PC Weaver Stall - est. 4 Marks

Kaylen smiled, suddenly so much business! Though it was mostly for Riarna, it was still a boost of business!

With a smile, she tilted her head at Idris, "Yes I could take one on commission." She giggled alittle. "What color would you like? I can even do uneven, and unique designs if you like?"

Her eyes going over to Riarna's wares, she realized she might need to up her game next gather, but this one had caught her by such surprise! With more preparing, she would have so much more!

Kindra smiled actually warmly at Riarna, they might not be friends but they had a fairly pleasant 'relationship' going when they interacted, plus, the woman made pretty things for Kindra so she wasn't about to insult her or anything. "Oh good, that means no one has snagged the best things yet" she said lightly.

She resisted the urge to squeal at the dress that revealed itself when Riarna shook the material out so she could see it however she did allow herself an "oooooh" of admiration. She moved her hand to finger the fabric, it was lovely and with embroidery from Riarna it could look fantastic in the right circumstances. "How much Riarna?" she asked her, eyes bright, hoping to snag the dress for a good price like she had last Gather but it wouldn't be too great of a loss if it was full price.

Before Riarna could answer her a familiar voice, coupled with the arm around her waist had Kindra's stomach flipping like a lovesick weyrling. "N'mol" she said excitedly, letting her hand drop from the dress and turning slightly (so his arm didn't slip from her waist, she rather liked it there) to look at him and she beamed, he DID like it, well since he was wearing the shirt she'd bought him last gather she assumed he did. "No, i was early, didn't want to miss out on anything good" she returned his teasing tone though she was a little disappointed she hadn't gotten the brooch or the knife from the Mastersmith. She turned her head back to the Weavers and smiled, knowing that Riarna was likely to recognise her own work on N'mol.

She heard yet another voice and turned to see the newly appointed Wingsecond to Wingleader Kleos and Kindra feverently hoped her distaste didn't show on her face, she made a damned hard effort to remain neutral, especially since the woman was being pleasant enough. Her attention was briefly removed from the dress, especially as Riarna was now hanging the shirts up unnoticed by Kindra. "Yes, congratulations on your promotion" she replied after N'mol spoke, trying hard to be pleasant enough. "I agree, No one would have picked someone not up to the task" she didn't add her bitter private thought of "at least i hope so" she kept that to herself.

Bereck - leaving NPC weavers. 6 Marks.

"I don't do it on purpose!" Bereck replied to his weyrmate. "It just... happens. They're good girls, all of them. I won't be a minute."

Indeed the transaction with the weavers only took a moment and Bereck turned back to Alina with a cloth wrapped package under his arm and the promise that its intended recipient could return later to have it fitted. "Well, that's that then... anything you want to look at?" He should get something for Rochelle too, and Nata, and Aleck... though he struggled to think of anything he'd find here that would be of any interest to Aleck. Sweets would do maybe, just a small gesture to show he had been thought of too.

Abruptly a small green firelizard appeared in front of his face. Bereck lent back with a scowl, but the expression softened when he recognised her. "Hello Nightling, what are you up to?" Was Becka looking for him?

I'saak - Ingar's Stall
4 7/8 marks

I'saak sidled over to the Master Smith's stall slowly, taking in the wares on the table with an expression of immense interest. The golden dagger, in particular, caught his attention - though he was quite positive that it was so thoroughly out of his price range, it was laughable. Still, he leaned in closer to examine the similar riders' knives, unable to hide the wistfulness in his expression.

"These are beautiful. I never really got the hang of art pieces or jewelry," he admitted casually to the man behind the table. "Big stuff, weird stuff...that was okay. When I was at the Hall, I never really had an eye for pretty things."

"Well thank you!" Ingar replied with a big grin. "Smith yourself are you lad? Glad to have somebody in the know looking over. It's very nice when a layman gives you a compliment of course but from somebody who knows what they're on about it's all the better."

Nightling chirruped in approval when Bereck asked if Becka was looking for him, keeping pace with him if he carried on through the crowd, so she could pass the wherabouts back on to Becka.

Shortly Becka would reach Bereck and Alina, items clutched in her hands "Bereck!" she said excitedly "Hello Alina" she added with a smile "I...i have something for you both" she said, holding out the journal to Bereck and the box to Alina "I won them!" she was pleased with herself, and thankful to Phas for making her take notice of it. "I..thought you'd like them" she added slightly nervously now but it was hard not to get excited, the buzz of the people around them hard to not get caught up in.

Alina

"No, I honestly think you look for them," The starcrafter laughed, leaning back on her heels to watch him walk off and get the youngest of his daughter-figures a gift. She took the time to look about a little, glancing back only when he got closer. "Me? Maybe. I ought to get a scarf or something of the sort since it looks as if we'll be taking a few between trips to go see places."

The firelizard startled her as well. Alina took a step back with a quick blink, relaxing only when it didn't maul him and instead brought an almost smile to the healers face. "You know this wayward firelizard, Ber? He's not one of yours..." But then Becka arrived. It all clicked into place. Her head ducked with a returning smile, one slim hand waving."Hello, Becka."

The surprise furthered when the young woman offered up gifts to Bereck and - to her? To Alina. She blinked quickly, eyebrows furrowed in slight confusion before she reached out and took it. "You won them?" The Starcrafter looked it over with care and finally smiled, slow and genuine. "Thank you, Becka. It's lovely. This is very... very kind of you."

She was not good with small people.

Bereck - near the stalls

Ah, and there was Becka. What could she need him for in the middle of a-

"Oh." Looking slightly startled Bereck accepted the journal, tucking the wrapped package against his side in order to do so - he only ever had one free hand when he was walking around. The leather of the cover was smooth and a simple but pleasing pattern was embossed around the border. Flipping through the pages was pleasing too, they were all secure and weren't of that horribly annoying cheap kind of parchment that caught your pen nib.

And Becka had got it for him from one of the games. It was a bit baffling, he wasn't used to spontaneous gifts. More baffling still was the fact that she'd got a pretty wooden box for Alina, she didn't even know Alina.

After a few moments of silence Bereck looked up from the journal and smiled at Becka. "Thank you, I will make good use of it. And it's lovely, I do like it." Not used to getting gifts on the spur of the moment and thus not used to thanking people for them either.

He thought then of the package tucked awkward under his arm, he hadn't meant to do this here but it felt apt now. Besides, it would be one less thing to carry around. "Ah, here." Bereck passed the journal up to Sanguine to hold for the time being and allowed the package to drop back into his hand before holding it out to Becka. "I'm sure you've had... oh, birthdays and things," he said with a trace of stiff awkwardness. He felt a bit exposed giving a gift out here, feelings and personal attachments were things he usually kept close to his chest. Oh well, this was a gather, people had better things to do than watch him.

Becka wasn't used to spontaneous either, but the excitement of the Gather (and Phasianth's urgings) were rubbing off on her and she couldn't help beam when Alina smiled and accepted the gift, she might not have stopped and got to know Alina but she was Bereck's Weyrmate and had been by his side when she hadn't been able to be due to caring for Phasianth. She didn't resent having the blue to care for but she was glad Bereck was almost never alone anymore. He was happier, seemed more settled and just well ... happier (yes she meant that twice) than he'd been. She could get to know Alina... WOULD get to know her in time anyway. "I'm glad you like it.... it's not fancy but you could put things in it" like THAT wasn't obvious from the fact it was a box.

She was even more pleased that Bereck liked HIS gift, she'd defintely gotten the best of them, "Oh good!" she said happily when Bereck said he liked it, pleased with herself for looking through the journals first rather than just grabbing any. Though she was a little surprised when he handed HER a package, Well that was unexpected, she wasn't used to being given things, not even on her birthdays or other special occaisions, not even from Bereck. "ooooh, oh thank you!"

boomed Phasianth, going so far as to stand up where he was and crane his head over the crowd fruitlessly, he couldn't see her with his own eyes but he could see what she could. "Alright Phas... alright wait a second will you" she said with a small chuckle, forgetting to mind speak, knowing there'd be no peace until she did "Do you mind if i open it now Master Bereck? Phas is yelling in my head again" she said, blushing just a little.

C'tis - Ring toss. 4 3/4 marks

C'tis was not one of nature's sneakers being built along the same model as an ox but the gather was noisy, allowing him to come up behind Rochelle as she focused on the rings. Picking three up for himself he made his throws without really looking and then swatted Rochelle on the backside. "Hello gorgeous, is y your boyfriend around or can I steal a kiss?"

Rochelle - Ring Toss

She paid no mind to the person next to her, blue eyes narrowed at her less than stellar throw. the glasscrafter huffed, taking another three in preperation to throw when C'tis, in all his glory, slapped her on the rear. She yelped and half spun, small hand already balled into a tight fist and up to swing. Him being an a** is what kept him from being punched in the chin, Rochelle stopping abruptly.

"Oh, it's you," She sniffed, waving her hand that had been ready to hit him. "He's around her somewhere. He's awfully jealous and kind of a huge jerk, though, so you probably wouldn't want to chance it."

-----

Alina - Near the stalls

"I'm not much for fancy," Alina hastened to assure her. "The box is very fitting, it really is." She leaned over Bereck's shoulder to peer at the journal, eyebrows arched in curiousity. A lovely journal indeed.

She lowered her voice to speak only to her weyrmate, amused. "Do you still keep a journal? I remember you used to..." Her eyes flicked back to the young woman, amused.
