“Oh yes.” Retorted Kallan as he rubbed his eyes, “As you can tell I’m the perfect picture of health over here.” Coughing quietly into his hand the male looked away from the female. At the mention of food his ears twitched though. Something warm like that sounded so good…even better was the idea of getting on his way. The cervitaur had to keep himself from actually looking appreciative of the idea of stew. Knowing her there’d be some catch though. Perhaps some rotten meat would be thrown in to really get him? The idea made him peer over towards her suspiciously.

Nah, surely not. That would actually take thinking on her part. Most likely she would just rather stab him a few more times with his own knife. Sighing Kallan just laid his head back against the wall. That would make more sense with her. Not like he was hoping she would try to find a way to keep him here longer…not at all. His eyes flickered closed before he glanced about the room. Admittedly now that this had happened he really did owe her something. It would be a lot of work, but perhaps he could salvage this shack of sorts.

Maybe that was, if he was feeling generous, just maybe.

Sakina glanced over to Kallan and snorted with a smirk. "Really now. No need fer sarcasm. Ya look the same as ya did yesterday, so how'm I supposed ta know?"

She set to work on skinning and slicing up the rabbits. The meat went into the pot with a bit of water and salt, and set to cook. Then she cut the carrots and potatoes into chunks, diced up the tomato, and tossed them into the pot as well. "Ahh. Can't beat a good rabbit stew~" Tail flicking, she looked over to Kallan and grinned. Wait-! She turned it into a frown. "You better 'preciate all I'm doin' fer a bum like you. Goin' gettin' sick in my house." She shook her head and stirred the stew. "And you ain't eatin' in my bed. Sit at the table like a good boy."

“Humph.” Kallan just shook his head at the female before slowly turning to watch as she cooked. Would you look at that? It was almost as if she did know how to cook. The thought amused the buck and he found himself grinning faintly. His face muscles immediately twitched in response to her grin and the male found himself copying the same frown as her own. Huh! He could not believe that he just did that because there was no way that he would ever admit to even thinking about enjoying anything about her or this place.

Nope, not at all.

“Not my fault you live in a damn death trap.” He muttered in response, “It’s only right you take care of someone whose suffering cause of you.” Cursing some more under his breath the cervitaur pushed himself from the bed with some effort. Okay, now that everything wasn't spinning around him it wasn't too bad. Nodding at the thought Kallan made his way over towards the table and sat there with his head propped up by a hand. “Happy, ya crazy female?” His gaze narrowed into a glare before he looked away, “Enjoy that one moment of obedience, cause it’s the last.”

A sour snort sounded sharply from Sakina. "Ya wouldn't be doin' all this so-called sufferin' if'n ya hadn't insisted on stalkin' me ta see my house," she shot back. So nervy.

Her grin rose again as the male complied to her orders. "Thank ya!" she cooed, giving the soup a stir. Setting down another cup of non-salted water in front of Kallan, and one for herself as well. "I do enjoy it, thankie~" Playfully giving Kallan's ear a light scritch, she pulled out a couple bowls... and wrinkled her nose. A dead mouse? Really? Tossing the little body out toward the garden for fertilizer, she gave the bowl a rinse and a wipe with a mostly clean cloth. Each bowl was filled to the brim with the stew, and plunked down onto the table without spilling a drop. Smiling to herself, Sakina inhaled the scent deeply. It's been a while since she'd bothered to make something so elaborate.

Kallan just glared at the female. Not his fault that he had some code of morality. “Not that I shoulda even bothered.” The buck muttered darkly under his breath. What a stupid female, making trouble as easily as breathing air. Threatening him then trying to convince him that living in such a place like this was possible – hah! What a crazy one she was. What in the isles had possessed him to even think about worrying about the likes of her?

Though she had taken care of him while he was sick instead of trying to murder him on the spot…the thought instantly got scattered at the sudden touch. Swearing beneath his breath Kallan had to stop his natural reaction of reaching out to punch the one touching him as he realized it was her. “What did ya have to do that for?” Crinkling his nose the cervitaur rubbed at his ear. Thankfully he had been distracted long enough by that to just look up in time to watch something being thrown out the room. What had? He paused the thought. It was probably better that he didn’t ask. Oh spirits.

Sticking his spoon Kallan dug into the stew. Admittedly it was pretty good, but the cervitaur continued instead of pausing ot offer thanks. Instead he focused on devouring the food as quickly as possible so that he could get things moving. Didn’t want her touching him randomly again after all.

"Beh-cause yer jus' so adorable, obviously," she said with a sharp little snort. He was kinda cute... but that didn't mean anything!

Happily scooping up mouthfuls of the stew, she peeked up once in a while to make sure the male was enjoying the food. "There's more where tha' came from, if'n ya want a second helpin' of it." Her little tail twitched about, quite pleased with how the stew had turned out. She didn't expect thanks from such a bum though, and wasn't about to bother herself with trying to get it out of him.

Kallan just glared at her from over the bowl of stew. Adorable really? “I’ve heard handsome before…but ne’er adorable.” He murmured before looking away from her. The last thing he needed was for her to think he was some cute thing! Like a forest animal or somethin’. That just wasn’t right. Not at all! Yet he couldn’t help but to be slightly warmed by her comment. Still he blamed his cold. That had to be what was makin’ him think so crazy like.
As much as his stomach rumbled for more stew Kallan shook his head, “I’ll pass.” Now that the room wasn’t spinning anymore it was a good time to bail out before he became even crazier. The longer he stayed here the prettier she got and the more agreeable the atmosphere was. That in itself was not supposed to be happening. “The last thing I need is to linger and let another wave of sickness come past me.” Standing he actually nodded stiffly towards her, “Thanks I spose for the trouble.” He bit the inside of his cheek. He just wanted to leave, but that would have…bothered him?

“I’m going home and I hope ya try to attempt something with this shack.” He commented finally as he reached the door, “Unless ya just like trapping handsome males here and hoping they get sick.” His gaze glanced back towards her. That was right. He just had to keep that mindset that she was a dangerous forest spirit of sorts. A crazy female who could knife him at any second and whose home was a death trap. He repeated that thought in his mind a few more times before just letting the door close behind him and moving quickly through the woods before she could stop him.

Sakina snorted and shook her head. Handsome? No way! Nu-uh! Not him! "Well, yer welcome, I guess. T'was experience, fer sure." With another sarcastic snort, she lifted her chin and glared. "If'n I ever catch some han'some male, I'll let ya know~" she snapped sharply at the closed door, standing and grabbing the bowls to take them for cleaning. She hoped she never saw that male again!

A couple weeks later though, and Sakina found herself wishing she'd agreed to visit the male's home. Maybe he would have had something that could cover all these holes in her roof... That was the only reason to visit such a man's house, of course! A knit hat and a fur coat that was made for a male three times her size were all that protected her from the freezing rain, which was steadily increasing from the sprinkle it had started as. What was with all this fall rain? She aimed a glare at the sky as she stood precariously on the roof of her shack, trying to put some sort of cover over the holes that were allowing her bed to be rained on. "C'mon, ya old goat!" she snapped as she tried to nail an old, dry goatskin to the roof. "Papa, why didja think I ain't need these kinds o' lessons?" she grouched, yelping as she banged her thumb with the hammer.

Rain. It poured all around his home as Kallan leaned in the stone window seat with his head propped up in his hands. He shouldn’t even think about going out in it considering he had gotten that fever those couple of weeks ago, but the idea bothered him. Everything about the bad weather just kept reminding him of that shack out in the woods. When he closed his eyes he could just imagine that face grinning at him and then the holes and the wear that the home she was living in had….they all followed behind like a picture. A very bad picture that was which screamed of death. He had gotten sick just from a day of being there…how would she fare? Even better who would take care of her if she got sick?

Kallan shook his head. Dammit, he didn’t even know her name and he still worried about her! “Stupid, stupid, very stupid female.” He cursed under his breath as he got up from the window and threw on a heavy cloak. Hood up the cervitaur grabbed his hunting bag and started down the stone path and from the grove of oak trees towards the tree forest. He had to check his traps anyway…that was the excuse which kept rolling through Kallan’s head even as he passed several traps and ended up getting near that familiar clearing.

Entering the rain lessened just enough for him to see a clear image before him, “What the hell?” Cursing loudly Kallan moved quickly to stand before the shack so that he could watch the female cervitaur, “Are you trying to die you idiot?” He should have just stayed home with some hot tea...but here he was. Standing below someone who definitely had either no sense at all or just some messed up death wish.

Sakina cursed loudly as another finger fell to the blow of the hammer. She couldn't tell if her fingers were becoming numb from the cold, or if she'd broken them by now! She could barely hold the nail in place from shivering. She glared at the nail and firmed her grip on the hammer. She'd been living here along for years! She didn't need some cocksure male to come take her over! She wasn't a baby or some delicate flower!

Ears perking, she looked up at the sound of a voice. Blinking at the rain, her gaze dropped and lit on the male. "Ah! Lookit what the rain dragged up!" She grinned and leaned over toward him "What's wrong? Ya miss me that much? Well, don't go thinkin' I'mma leap inta yer arms like some- whoa!" About to eat her words, Sakina's numb hands didn't notice the edge of the roof crumbling, and she began to topple forward. Of course, her hooves had no grip on the wet roof, and her arms flailed as she fell straight toward Kallan.

“Rain dragged up my a**. I’m not the one lookin’ like an idjit on the roof here!” Out in the rain of all things too…she really was asking for it! Kallan frowned at the thought. He should just turn around now and leave before he got the chance to see her body broken on the ground. Oh, but the thought just kept him in place. Eyes squinting against the rain he just shook his head, “Seriously come down before you kill yourse-“ Just like that his demand was answered, but not in the way he expected.

Oh! His arms automatically reached out to snap around the female as she fell into him. Grunting Kallan fell backwards in the wet mud with a curse. He paused though for a good moment as he kept his arms around her warmth dancing between where their skin touched. Her eyes were really pretty up close. He leaned forward before snapping back to reality. Glaring he shoved her away from him roughly and pushed himself off of the ground. “You…really just live to make my life miserable.” Flinging mud away from his pelt Kallan glared at the female, “Why in the world were you on that roof in this weather anyway?”

Sakina blinked in surprise when she didn't just thud into the ground. She looked at Kallan with wide eyes, stunned breathless. He'd... caught her? He was so warm... She gasped as she was shoved away, and shook her head roughly to break the spell she'd apparently been under. She had not been gazing into his eyes!!

"I could say the same of you! Ya come 'ere jus' ta growl at me?!" she shot back, pushing herself out of the puddle she'd landed in and brushing herself off. "If yer achin' so much ta know-!" her cheeks flushed and she glared off to the side, "was 'nother hole opened up from this blasted weather and it was rainin' on my bed. Don't wantta sleep ina wet bed. Ain't no one else gonna fix it." She lifted her chin and stared at Kallan. "Whatchya doin' 'ere anyways?"

Dammit. He had left last time because he just knew this was going to turn into a dangerous situation. While trying to shake off the odd feeling from having her in his arms the male turned back towards her with a sigh, “Yes! Of course!” Frustrated he just waved his arms in the air, “While I was at it I just couldn’t resist the appeal of this death trap!” He wiped off another bit of mud, “It’s a joy to be able to live so dangerously just because of someone like you.”

Really? It had opened up another hole? Kallan opened his mouth to reemphasize his feelings about her shack of a home but clamped his mouth shut. No need to reinforce his opinion against a brick wall. “So it makes perfect sense to not move your bed until clearer weather so that you don’t have to risk your neck in the wet?” He raked a hand through his hair in frustration. This female! At her question of what he was doing here the cervitaur just shook his head, “I came by while checking traps cause my idiot alarm was blaring in my skull. And would ya look here! I found one!” He pointed towards her before surprising himself and after another look at the roof sighed, “Get your stuff together ya idiot. This death hole is not getting me again so hurry up so we can leave. Last thing I want is your corpse stinkin' up the area.”
PostPosted: Wed Oct 23, 2013 11:52 pm

Sakina felt herself stiffen up. "....Ain't nowhere else in there dry enough fer the bed," she grumped reluctantly. Her home really was going down into shambles. Papa would be so disappointed. "Ya liken the dangerous life. Dangerous enough goin' through my woods. Lucky ya didn't get snagged in them traps I got out there fer vermin."

...Idiot alarm? She ground her teeth hard. "Surprised it ain't goin' off all the time, since ya can't leave yerself anywheres." ...Leave? He was going to take her to his home? The thought made her fur ruffle. "Watch tha' tone o' yers, or it be yer corpse stinkin' things up." She flicked her tail angrily as she turned to head back inside, grabbing up another shirt, her blade, Kallan's blade, and a few other things to tuck into a small, tattered pack. "Fine, hero. Let's git goin'."

Kallan sighed, “Figures.” Of course her whole place would be dripping with water. Did she really think that she could have made it through the winter in this place? It would need some serious cleaning up in that case. His nose crinkled at the thought of all the work that would have to go into it. Weather was getting too bad for such things though. So what was the plan? Dragging her back with him? Great…he got to let a crazy female like her visit him. He was so looking forward to this. Maybe actually just a bit, not that he would admit it though!

The buck just chuckled. Yep, that comment had roused her like usual. “Don’t worry, it takes a special type of idiot that only you can seem to accomplish.” She truly was one of a kind. He just rolled his eyes at her threat, “Yes, yes. Threaten the one who wants to help you. Great plan, lady.” That reminded him…glancing back towards his new companion (companion or looming doom? That he wasn’t certain of yet.) the cervitaur frowned, “I don’t even know your name. Do you realize that?” He rose an eyebrow towards her, “How is it fair that you know mine and I don’t know yours?”
