Not having any idea what was going on as soon as Nan uttered a strange shout she was worried. She had gone through this with Delta and was very concerned for Nan. She opened her eyes and saw the blurr of an azerin jerking about before her. “Nan? Nan!” She called out his name over and over again trying to shake him of whatever it was that held him. She moved closer to him when he started to straighten up. His stumble made her wince. “Stay close to you nothing. You need to lean on me if you really think you can go anywhere right now.” She frowned at him and moved to his side. “I don’t need to see to hear all that ruckus you’re making.” She looked at him, well past him really not being able to focus on him particularly. “Still it’s not like I can go anywhere without my tour guide so I’ll be sticking close anyway until we get close enough to Demoni that you have to go.” She shrugs like his leaving didn’t really matter. It was a bit disturbing to her to find someone so nice in the south. Only to know she was going to lose them again not too long in the future.

"... Nanatsu..." The stallion's chest heaved as he tried to rid himself of the fatigue that came with the mental battle with the stronger persona. "That's my name. Or at least... this part of me..." All four of his eyes fixed on Adaeze. "You have beautiful eyes. I'm glad I got the..." He faltered slightly, leaning against her for support. "... privilege to see them."

“Well Nanatsu is just as strange as Nan. If you’re not careful I might call you Nana just to tease you.” She smiled at him. “Thanks. I where my mask so much that it’s been a while since I last had anyone really see what I looked like.” She blushed a bit taking his weight. “You really are to nice to live here you know that?”

Nanatsu grinned sheepishly. "I didn't give myself the name... well, I guess I did, but... ah, it's complicated..." Her smile made his face light up, something that those who knew Demoni would think extremely strange. "Then it really is an honor to see your eyes." He glanced away shyly, blushing as well. "You're the reason I can be," he mumbled. Shifting his stance so he wasn't completely relying on Adaeze to hold him up, he said more clearly, "We should get out of the sun. There's an outcrop of rocks up ahead. We can talk more there."

Complicated? Yeah that seemed to be her life. First she was basically blind, then one of the few friends she meets gets the idea of a hair brained rescue in her head and now she was down south pleasantly chatting with a weird but sweet azrein walking to her death. Yep complicated. His words made her blush even more. Still when he wanted to move she snapped to attention and headed the way he instructed. It was true that being the sun seemed to make everything worse, and that sulfur smell didn’t help, though from his looks it seemed Nan was a demon, but he never told her so she kept that little bit she knew to herself not wanting to make him feel uncomfortable. Maybe he wan Demoni’s child. But a demon who was so nice? That was odd.

Nanatsu didn't mind the silence that spanned between them as they slowly but surely made their way towards their destination. It allowed him to sweep away lingering thoughts left from Demoni and try to decide how he should explain to Adaeze that the demon she was searching for was right next to her. Only once they were in the shade of the rock outcrop did he speak again. "Now that I have the ability... please let me answer any questions you have. I'll try to reply clearly..." He let his body sink to the desert sands below him with a sigh. Dealing with both body and mind was harder than he thought...

She was no expert but Nan appeared far more tired than he should have. Was he really going to be alright? “umm yeah. I was asking before if you had any advice at dealing with Demoni. I’m not even sure what he looks like, so anything you have would be helpful.” She lay down next to him enyoing the shade and the coolness it offered. If this kept up she might as well travel during the night it seemed so much cooler. She gave Nan some space not wanting to crowd him so he could stretch out his wings. Having met Delta this wasn’t a huge shock to her. She wondered if they felt the same as Delta’s had. She hadn’t really been paying attention during the little trip to the rocks and shade.

"... Demoni... is sleeping." Nanatsu shook his head, then explained properly. "To explain Lord Demoni... I should probably explain myself as well. Because I... am alternate personality of Lord Demoni. I guess it's like having two Azrein in the same body." He glanced away, wishing he could've just kept it a secret at least a little longer or make an elaborate lie that would allow him to spend time with Adaeze. But he wasn't like the stronger personality. He didn't want to lie to her. "Demoni wanted to use my persona to deceive you and trap you in the desert, making him your only hope of survival. I wanted to protect you, so..." He looked back at Adaeze. "I forced the 'Demoni' persona to fall asleep." His body trembled a bit. "Though I'm not sure how long I'll be able to suppress him like this..." He went quiet for a moment, then spoke again. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to warn you before. I could've saved you some trouble..."

Adaeze listened to him becoming shocked as Nan tried to explain himself. She stared at him clearly trying to process it all. Nan was nice and soft, and Demoni was trying to trick her. Taking her out to the desert and making her rely on him was definitely something she should have thought of following a random southerner. What caught her attention most was the fact that Nan said he couldn’t hold Demoni long. Her heart ached for him. Still she needed to find out what she needed first. “Nan some time ago there was a foal Iota. What happened to her?” She moved closer to him nosing him softly hoping to impart some calming to the poor male. “You came and at least told me of all this. Thank you so much.” She hated this. She couldn’t really help Delta and it was Nan who was suffering now. Huffing she held her head to his neck. “I wish I could help you Nan I feel so useless. I’m so sorry. You don’t belong here.”

"Iota..." Nanatsu tried to focus on the name. "It sounds familiar..." But it wasn't the name Demoni was used to using. It definitely referred to someone that had been thought of recently... "... Lacey," he finally concluded, with some difficulty. "Iota's her real name, but she goes by Lacey. She's definitely alive, but I..." Nan shook his head. "I apologize. I'm having a bit of trouble accessing Demoni's memories at the moment." He smiled reassuringly. "I'm sure that I can find that information. There seems to be something important about her, so Demoni would definitely have it." He probably just needed some rest. The stallion couldn't help melting a bit that at Adaeze's soft touch. "It was the least I could do..." His ears flicked forward at her apology. "Don't be sorry," he replied softly, smiling slightly as he looked down at her. "Without you, I would have just been another mask of Demoni's." He draped his translucent wing over her, four orange eyes glowing with adoration. "You made me real, Adaeze."

She listened to him and made note of the name Lacy. A pang of pity rolled through her at Nan’s difficulty. She didn’t apologize again but she pressed her head against his neck. “I don’t know about making you real or not. I think you are real and where just waiting to come out. Just take your time and keep close to me.” She curled up close to him as much as she could. She would keep Nan safe. It was warm under Nan’s wing but thankfully not to hot yet. Maybe he would be able to tell her about Iota/Lacey. If he couldn’t she would stay with him for a short time. If Demoni showed signs of coming back she didn’t know what she would do. Should she run and leave Nan alone? Or stay and pretend to be ignorant of this gap in time. Maybe Demoni would slither back and she wouldn’t even know it. Sighing she decided she wouldn’t go with Demoni or Nan anywhere else but she would leave for home. If it was Nan he could follow, but Demoni she would tell she was headed off to find someone else. Who she didn’t’ know but she was sure she could make up an name to throw him.. her mother! That was a good name to give since she didn’t even really know where her mother was.

Nanatsu couldn't help smiling at that. "Maybe." Either way, he doubted he would've beaten the stronger Demoni persona without Adaeze's presence. He nodded to the mare's instructions; they weren't hard to follow. He was happy to stay close to her and biding time wasn't hard since he was used to being used like an actor's mask. Despite the day's heat, Adaeze's closeness was comforting. He laid his head down and closed his eyes. The best thing to do now was conserve his energy. The less fatigued he was, the less likely Demoni could easily sneak back into the role of dominant persona. At the very least, he wanted to make it obvious when the switch happened. He didn't want the demon to hurt the mare even more by pretending to be him. Nan opened his eyes again when he heard Adaeze sigh. "Are you alright?" Maybe his wing made her too warm? Or maybe the mask's weight was bothering her neck...

“Thinking. I have a lot to do and a lot to find. It’s not always easy but it is what I have chosen to do.” She wasn’t really sure how to bring up Demoni coming back and reclaiming himself with Nana still in there or what might even happen to him. It wasn’t fair! It wasn’t fair that a nice sweet stallion like Nana had to suffer being trapped in a body with a demon like Demoni. It wasn’t fair that Delta lost his sister and his family sounded so fragile they might break if he left to find her. It wasn’t fair her father was blinded by bad humans or that her mother had stayed around only long enough to see the foals healthy before leaving saying that Ada’s family didn’t feel like her pack. Life just sucked at times. Still non of that she could just bring up to Nan after all he was clearly tired out and needed to rest. “Don’t worry about it. Just get some rest and we can talk more later after your nap.” If Demoni didn’t reappear first…

Nan nodded. "I see." He smiled warmly. "I'm sure it'll work out." He didn't know where his confidence in Adaeze's abilities came from, but he definitely had it. His eyes slid closed again, a slight smile on his face. Who knew that such a strange encounter could make him feel so peaceful? He let himself drift off to sleep at Adaeze's encouragement. When he woke up, they could talk more. When he woke up... because he would. Not as Demoni's mask, but as Nanatsu. It was a satisfying thought.
When he opened his eyes again, night had fallen. The desert was cold without the sun's rays to heat it, and Nan instinctively shifted towards the nearest source of warmth--Adaeze. He blinked a few times, taking a minute to recall the events of the day. That was right. He'd beaten his dominant persona for control of their body... He glanced down at his companion. Was she awake or asleep?

Dozing lightly when she was bumped she woke up. Still a bit groggy she looked around in the dark confused where the bright painful light had gone too? And it was cold. Slowly the day unrolled to her making her remember what had happened and who was next to her. The question was who was it next to her? Nan or Demoni. “Nana? “ She inhaled his sulfurous scent and nosed him softly. “Nana is that you?” Shivering she wondered how it was so hot in the day and so darn cold at night. Her entire time in the south was like that. At least up north it was cold all day and night or warm all day or night. One or the other not this constant switching junk.
She stood up sheding Demoni/Nana’s wing in doing so. She lowered her head and while it took some finagling she finally got her mask back on. Now that the air outside was colder she felt like she could wear it much easier.
