They were focused, Magith and his rider, strickly on thread, on dodging, on burning. It had to end soon, they wouldn't be able to take much more. They were only a blue pair, and there was no denying that their stamina wasn't as strong as a brown or a bronze. That was the larger colors' advantage.
Just a bit longer, love. E'lov encouraged, as Magith flamed another patch. He could see some of the greens having to pull back, and wondered if they would be the next to join them.
I am still alright, The blue responded. Your strength gives me strength.

Like I could do this all day! came the insistent answer from the green, but Ralla could feel how tired she was. It worried her, but...but no, Firith would be fine. Firith was fine. They could get through anything, no matter what!

Careful Magith! the rider cried, noticing a patch of thread coming down towards his flank. The blue dodged, turning to release his fire onto the thread.
Got it.
Good job! He turned back to watching, to keep an eye out for stray pieces of thread. He could do that much for his dragon, to help him out.

Ivanhoth was holding up well, though Fi'o had expected no less from him. As much as fighting Thread worried him, and as much as he complained whenever he happened to be struck, he was resilient and physically strong, with more than enough motivation to see him through. Some of those motivations might have included the promise of a good meal and a thorough scrubbing, but hey, whatever worked!
You'll have them soon enough, once we've seen this through.
And we will see it through, the sturdy little brown rumbled as he dove after a clump of silver to burn it away.

Her flame was a mere spurt, scorching only a few strands before she had to bank away. She hurt, she HURT but there was still a job to do, there was still thread, there was a job to do and... and...

Here and there, Firith could see other greens tiring, retreating, some more injured than others. She would not be among them! She refused! She would sooner fall from the sky than-
Much as I echo the sentiment, that would be counterproductive - falling is only another way of failing, and a permanent one at that. Please try to avoid it.
I will consider it, the green allowed, but for the moment continued to flame.

More firestone, Magith said, turning his head to catch the stones that E'lov quickly fed him. He made short work of chewing them, and then seared a patch of thread as it passed him. There has to be a better way to do this.

Pioth's low, anxious voice in his head snapped S'dekai's thoughts back into focus, and he leaned down to stroke a reassuring hand along the bronze's neck. I'm fine. You're doing magnificently, love. Just a little longer.
This time, as they rose to fight Thread, the little bronze let loose with another tremendous gout of flame before arcing away unharmed. It seemed that their second wind was upon them at last.
