Katsu Uchiha Jounin ::: Sunagakure ::: Nightmare of the Sand :::Uchihax ₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪ [[C-Rank jutsus are only 400 words to learn, not 600]]
Katsu was quite amazed at Manta's fuuton jutsu. The man had activated his sharingan as soon as he felt his fellow jounin's chakra tense up, and as Manta performed the Wind Release: Great Breakthrough technique, the Uchiha had engraved it into his memory. His three tomes spun briefly to indicate that the technique was completely copied, and Katsu, feeling a great satisfaction at the abilities of his, now, more powerful eye, smiled.
Seeing that Manta was already expecting Katsu to perform a katon jutsu in conjunction with the man's fuuton one, Katsu started to work on his chakra. The man had excellent chakra control; as a genjutsu master, it was almost required of him. He felt the nside of his body heat and flare up as katon techniques ran through his mind. Truthfully, the only one that Katsu had used before was the Great Fireball Technique, for he found out it was a rite of passage in the Uchiha clan. For this kind of collaboration, however, the jounin had assumed that something smaller would fit his purpose pretty well. Katsu's hands formed several signs, at a fairly quick pace, nonetheless. Rat → Tiger → Dog → Ox → Rabbit → Tiger. Nodding, the man breathed in deeply. and after holding in for a second, let out his katon chakra. This was the usual procedure used for the Great Fireball Technique; however, Katsu tweaked something small to make the technique fit the purpose he was trying to fulfill. The man, while the katon chakra was still inside, broke up the Great Fireball into smaller pieces; he utilized his chakra control as a tool, somewhat of a "cutting knife" to section the Great Fireball into smaller pieces.
A volley of about 6 small fireballs spew from Katsu's mouth. He realized that the wind jutsu that Manta had used earlier was a thin stream that had, at this time, transformed into a ball. The small fireballs just summoned by Katsu were much smaller - about 2 ft in diameter - but Katsu didn't think it would be a problem. He focused his willpower to two of the fireballs in particular; the others flew off in random directions in the desert, and soon, they would die out. The two that Katsu were controlling, however, made a beeline to Manta's wind attack. Controlling the fire took a bit of concentration, but Katsu, with the assistance of his sharingan, was able to manage. Only a few seconds passed before the fireballs were within centimeters from the wind ball, and that was when Katsu had to really focus. He attempted to "unwrap" the fire out of the ball shape and into a wave; The goal, according to Katsu, was to have the fire coat the wind ball to increase its damage potential. The attacks by Katsu, to his satisfaction, did as he wished, and they started to unwrap themselves out of their ball formed. Once the two fires were almost touching the wind ball, Katsu let go of his chakra. If everything went according to plan, the wind would catch the fire naturally, and the close proximity of the two would make the absorption happen almost instantaneously.

I GIVE YOU...
Manta looked on in amazement as Katsu sliced up his own fire jutsu. The sheer concentration of this man was astounding! With a chuckle, Manta felt incredibly sorry for any sworn enemies Katsu may have had. As the Jounin turned to look at his comrade's attack, an enormous heat wave literally blasted him off of his feet.
To say the jutsu worked would be a massive understatement. The two fireballs, once unraveled, simply blossomed, growing at least six or seven times larger as they fed hungrily on the wind release chakra. Both of their techniques were C-Ranked, but a blast this size was at least B-Ranked, maybe even A-Ranked in destructive capability. The attack could at least
Manta actually began to laugh, a broken, maniacal sound echoing from his mouth. "Ahahahahahahaha! I didn't think it'd be this strong!"
The older Jounin eventually stopped cackling, breathing heavily. Once the euphoria of having made such a powerful technique had passed, Manta realized how much chakra he had expended. He had used both of those techniques back to back, and even then, had forcibly pushed out more chakra than they required.
"Well, only thing left to do now is to test it against a target."
Manta's mind wandered to back when he had been on the shores. Being a rather secluded spot, Manta hadn't expected anyone to be where he had been training, but one day, after spending about a year there, he had come across another ninja, an extremely old man. He couldn't identify his headband or village, but it was clear that this was no missing-nin. The old man had a cane, and was walking stiffly, having dressed himself in a pair of dark green fatigues and a speckled combat vest, leaving his wiry arms bare. The man was covered in tattoos, a veritable tapestry of ink all to himself.
The younger Manta had simply looked on, resting behind a rock after training, or at least what was left of the rocks. The old man began to stretch, and after a few minutes, he was ready. At the time, Manta hadn't been able to identify the exact signals he had made, but the result was all the same. A wall of earth had risen from the ground, at least nine inches to a foot thick, and incredibly solid. The man had jumped back, unleashing a barrage of kunai, shuriken and senbon into the wall, and none penetrated. Even when the man used a Jutsu to send out a fireball, the wall had stood, scorched but still strong.
When Manta had returned, he had looked up the hand-signals, and attempted to learn the jutsu, but so far he hadn't been successful. Time to try it once more.
Sighing deeply, Manta formed the necessary hand-signals, Ram, Tiger, Snake, Dog, Snake. A wall of earth rose, reaching about nine feet in height and five feet wide, about four inches thick. Much thinner than the old man's wall, but then again, this was Manta's first actual success.
"Let's try it again."
Manta unleashed another small ball, this time making travel slightly slower, so that Katsu would have more time to manipulate his fire jutsu.

Katsu Uchiha Jounin ::: Sunagakure ::: Nightmare of the Sand :::Uchihax ₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪ The sheer heat of the combination jutsu that the two jounin had just completed was enough to bring sweat bullets to Katsu's forehead. To think, something as powerful and unique as that was, just moments ago, nothing more than a conception in Manta's mind. The Uchiha, looking at his fellow jounin, smiled. "Well, that's quite strong." As usual, nothing in his voice gave off any slight hint of surprise or astonishment. Katsu's dull and half-closed eyes were analyzing the creation, though, and his sharingan was able to see the amount of chakra the technique truly had. A smirk escaped the young man's lips. Although the two techniques used to create the great ball were C-rank, this fireball had the amount of chakra akin to some of Katsu's strongest attacks. And to think that this was on a minuscule scale. Now that's pretty impressive.
As Manta created an earth wall, Katsu's sharingan eyes did their magic and allowed him to copy the jutsu. In truth, the man wasn't not really a fan of ninjutsu; while they were pretty useful and, arguably, the strongest out of the three main shinobi arts, they took a lot out of Katsu's chakra. Genjutsu didn't require much strain, and taijutsu required even less. Still, he knew as well as any shinobi that it didn't hurt to be prepared. There were several moments off the top of Katsu's head where an Earth wall similar to the one Manta had just created would have been very useful, and even critical to a mission's success or an opponent's defeat. Katsu was not an offensive shinobi; no, there were plenty of other shinobi - Manta included - that had more raw force and power most suitable for defeating enemies. Katsu was useful in his versatility. His genjutsu was good at holding enemies off. His sharingan was used to figure out the true nature behind enemy ninja's jutsus. His taijutsu was mediocre, but his speed was excellent. Katsu's sharingan allowed him to be even more versatile; if he was to learn every jutsu in the world, it would be because of their wide uses, not because of their destructive power.
Another wind ball had been created by Manta, and Katsu's sharingan flared with anticipation; his katon element characteristic of the Uchiha clan started to heat up with anticipation and readiness. Still speaking in his slow-downed voice, the man addressed Manta. "You might want to take cover." Before he could be asked about his statement, the man spit out six more fireballs, exactly the same as last time. In this instance, however, he directed all six towards the ball. His flames surrounded the ball on all sides, and in a moment, Katsu let go of the chakra in all six fireballs. The size and scorch of the combination attack was unbelievable. The flames surrounded the wind chakra greatly, and it grew exponentially as it quickly took in the katon chakra and merged it with itself. Needless to say, the attack struck the earth wall with ease. The impact, however, was extremely powerful, and it wasn't long before Katsu found himself flying back a few inches. Well damn. Sand and wind alike spun around the training grounds, and the temperature of everything in the near radius shot up as the fireball continued to bolster. Using his sharingan, Katsu quickly recovered from being blown back, using his eyes to help him find a wall to bounce back from. He climbed back up to Manta's level, and look to the, now completely decimated, wall. There was nothing left, but the last of the flames could be seen slowly ding on the wall's remains. "I think it worked," Katsu said quietly and very sarcastically. Obviously it had worked. The two strongest jounin in the village had just created a combination jutsu that was much stronger than any jutsu Katsu had in his arsenal.

I GIVE YOU...
Manta just barely turned around in time, saving himself from being blinded. Still, he was thrown back at least ten feet, hitting the ground with a very audible thump, and a yelp of pain. For a moment, the older Jounin debated getting up. Finally, he decided that even if this was relatively comfortable, and even if moving would be quite painful, he would have to get up eventually, and it'd be far better to do it now, when there was another person present, as opposed to later, when he might actually hurt himself. With a groan of pain, Manta stood up, stretching his lower back as he did. When he saw the wall, or rather the charred remains of the wall, his eyes widened in surprise. He had seen all six fireballs his the compressed sphere of air, but to think that it could utterly decimate a solid earth wall was frightening indeed. The older Jounin walked over to the six inch high remains of the Earth Release jutsu. Curious, Manta bent over, poked his finger into the still hot remains. He winced, then drew back quickly, having hit something hot, soft, and... liquid? With a start, Manta realized what had happened. Not only had the attack torn through the wall like a sword through paper, it had literally melted through.
"By the Sage, look at this!" He cursed in wonder, picking up the old stick from his first demonstration and scooping up the goop with it. The melted rock acted almost like honey, smoking profusely as it burnt through the tender wood.
"Yeah, I'd say this was a success," Manta shot back, a deadpan expression on his face as he replied to his friend. Katsu was a bit of a strange one, always acting as slow as molasses. Truth be told, he was probably the most quick-witted Shinobi in the village.
"What we have here is definitely effective as a mid range attack. However, if we wanted to increase our distance, and use this to bombard enemies from afar, how could we do it?"
As he waited for his partner to answer the question, Manta created four more walls, each slightly bent in relation to the last, forming a large wall thirty feet wide, ten feet high, and about nine inches thick. To make matters even harder, Manta replicated the exact thing, making a wall just as wide and thick twenty feet behind the first, but this one twelve and a half feet high. Never one to do things halfway, Manta made yet a third wall, this one fifteen feet high.
"Let's say this is an enemy village's defenses. We want to blast through, but there's simply too much wall to do it with this variation of the attack, and there are enemy troops both in front of, on top of, and behind the wall. We can't get any closer than 100 feet without being decimated, and we decide to take down the wall. You start this time with your fireballs, I need a second to breathe after making those walls."

Mood: Alright. Who he is with: Manta and another jounin. Where he is: Training grounds.
---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryuu watched for a little bit as the two jounin did combo techniques together. He smiled a bit as they broke down the first wall. They both were extremely powerful. Ryuu could feel the heat coming from the fire attack that the other jounin did. This worried him a bit so, he quickly made a few handseals and a dome of crystal formed over him. That would be good enough to keep any back fire away from him. He made it about 15 feet high so that he had enough room to do the training that he was planning. Ryuu took a deep breath and got ready to start. He was going to make a dragon.
Ryuu got as close to the wall of the dome as he could and he started to focus his chakra. He was going to make a crystal dragon. This was something that he had been doing for years so, it shouldn't be that hard. Ryuu took a deep breath and made a couple handseals. The first thing to do was build up his chakra and make sure there was enough for the jutsu. He did this pretty quickly and he looked in front of himself. He then started to make crystal in front of him. After a few minutes there was a large block of crystal that reached towards the top of the dome. It was about 12 feet in height and 4 feet in width. This took a good portion of the dome but, it still had enough room for Ryuu. Ryuu smiled softly and started to make the crystal shift into a more dragon like form. It took another couple of minutes but, the dragon wasn't quite what Ryuu wanted it to be. It was too blocky and might as well have been a bunch of squares and rectangles.
Ryuu let the 'dragon' collapse and fall into just crystal shards. He wasn't happy with the way that he had done it before and he knew that he had to do it a different way. Ryuu smiled softly and remade his handseals. He then started rebuild the dragon. This time he didn't make the crystal pole. He needed to do it a different way. With the crystal already on the floor it was much easier to build up the dragon. He watched as all of the crystal went into places and after a minute or two it looked like an actual dragon, besides the fact that it was completely made out of crystal. Ryuu smiled a bit but, he had only done the easiest part of doing this. The next step was to animate the dragon and make sure it was able to move in a quick and timely fashion. Ryuu put his hands on the grass for a moment and he admired the dragon. He had to figure out how to make the dragon animate. It took him a few moments but, Ryuu figured that the best way for it to move would be for him to just use his chakra and his chakra control. Ryuu thought about that option a bit more and it seemed like the best option for him. Ryuu nodded to himself just for a little confirmation and he set out to do what he thought he should do.
Ryuu made a handseal again and got ready for the jutsu. He looked up at the top of the dragon and knew what his first animation was going to be. The first animation Ryuu wanted to make it do was simply move it's head. Ryuu concentrated as hard as he could and with his chakra he moved the dragon's head to the right and then to the left. Moving the head wouldn't be enough. Ryuu had to move the body as well. Ryuu took a couple breaths and started to move the body of the dragon. It didn't go anywhere but, it showed that Ryuu could atleast move the dragon. Ryuu once again tried to move the body and it started to move just a little. Ryuu smiled a bit more and started to move the dragon a bit around the dome. The dome wasn't really big enough for it to move around in so, Ryuu had the dragon start hitting the dome. After a few hits the side of the dome Ryuu had it hit on, collapsed and the dragon left the dome. With each hit there was an audible thump against the dome and once the dragon had broken down the wall there could be heard a large crashing sound. It was mostly because of all of the crystal showering down on to the ground. Ryuu quickly stood up and climbed up the dragon. He then made the dragon move over to the two jounin.
Ryuu looked down at his sensei and smiled. ”Hey Manta. Look what I just figured out to do.” Ryuu said to him. He then started to move the dragon around the area with Ryuu riding it. This was actually quite fun. He was tempted to try out the dragon's strength on the walls that his sensei had made but, he wasn't quite sure if his sensei would allow him to do this. ”Sensei would you mind giving me a target to test this on? It would be helpful to see how strong this dragon is so, I don't push it to its limits unless if I have to. If you give me a target I'll give you a better target than the dirt walls that you're putting up. I'll make a dome of crystal as strong as you'd like and you can try and destroy it.” Ryuu said to Manta. He was really hoping to test it out on the earth walls because, they looked actually pretty strong. Ryuu calmed down a bit and looked over Manta. Did he hurt himself? Ryuu sighed, he didn't want to fix up his sensei but, if he had to, he would and he would give him a little bit of chakra if he had to as well.

Manta chuckled, seeing his student's work of art in front of him. The dragon itself was very impressive, a feat of chakra manipulation that was both extremely dangerous, as well as fearsome to behold. "Sure thing, Ryuu."
Manta breathed in, creating two walls, right behind each other. Together, they were about fourteen to fifteen inches thick, ten feet high and ten feet wide, a square of rock that jutted out of the ground. "How exactly are you attacking with that thing?" Manta asked, curious.

This could be a combo technique much like Manta's and the other Jounin's. However, he wouldn't need another person to do it. Ryuu looked down at his sensei. "Watch this. Ryuu said to him. Ryuu then made a few handseals and out loud he said. "Crystal Release: Shuriken Wild Dance." Once his sentence had left his mouth, the dragon opened it's and about fifty shuriken went flying out of its mouth. Ryuu watched as they all hit the wall and he moved the dragon towards the walls. He made it charge and knock down the first of the walls. Ryuu could feel the dragon shake and he had to hold on tight as it plowed through the second of the walls. "I imagine something like this! Ryuu yelled to his sensei as he balanced himself. "Of course I have time to figure out better uses than this but, it seems to make a good transport.

Katsu Uchiha Jounin ::: Sunagakure ::: Nightmare of the Sand :::Uchihax ₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪ Katsu almost rolled his eyes at Manta's challenge. "I see you're still ambitious as always." Truthfully, Katsu was a bit on the lazy side; although he was eager to increase his prowess in the Sharingan - among other things - he did it mostly out of curiosity. Manta, as Katsu remembered, was much more wiling to test the limits of his capabilities not out of curiosity, but out of sheer will. Both, however, were very innovative shinobi, but they were for different reasons.
The Uchiha's mind began racing for solutions to the hypothetical presented in front of him. As Manta had stated earlier, there was too much wall for them to blast through in one move, and they couldn't get closer than 100 ft. While the collaboration jutsu the two had just created was strong, Katsu doubted it could ever be that strong. No, even he had to admit that for this kind of challenge, he would need to think outside the box. So any one point of entry is too strong...hmm. As the Uchiha's mind began moving quickly, his mind took several ideas and played out the potential scenarios that could arise. Attack from above? They'd hunt us down before we attacked. Try to pierce through the walls? Won't make it? Attack from more than one angle... A light bulb lit up in Katsu's mind, and as the seconds passed, his ideas for an adequate technique became more developed. He gave his fellow jounin a sly smile, his sharingan eyes still activated. "Manta, how about we try something other than pure force? You see, I have two distinct techniques that could work: if I use the Ash Pile Burning technique, I can summon clouds of highly flammable ash; you can spread them to the area needed with a fuuton ninjutsu, and I can launch a katon ninjutsu at it once it's ready to explode. We can just avoid the defenses all together and aim for the target. If that isn't possible, I learned a particular technique from Mt. Myoboku called the Toad Oil Bullet; it's basically a large mass of oil. However, if I launch it up, you can separate it with one of your fuuton ninjutsu, and make it rain oil on the enemies. Then, if we launch a strong collaboration technique like the one we did earlier, the fire will only grow stronger as it digs into the wall because the oil will feed it once it comes in contact with it. Pretty clever, eh? Though we'd have to be extremely precise in our chakra control and jutsu directions. A bit of math might need to be used."
Before he could hear Manta's response, a genin had come to join the two. The boy was on a crystal dragon, and Katsu's sharingan allowed him to see that it was a special kekkai genkai. Hmm...something I can't copy. Interesting. The Uchiha was quite impressed when the boy had his dragon launch out some shuriken at Manta's earth walls, yet his eyes still remained half-closed. He, however, addressed the genin. "That was pretty good."

Manta thought about it for a moment. The Ash Pile idea was genius, that was for sure. Manta would make sure to inform the Kazekage of the idea, should a need ever arise for large-scale invasion. The oil idea would be a harder thing to do, but it would probably do more damage. Sighing, Manta realized what he would do.
"Let's try both, first the Ash Pile technique."
Forming the necessary hand signals, Manta created ten clones. They would vanish after one hit, but that was the exact point. They needed to be able to refine their actual attacks, to they wouldn't miss certain targets.
When he finished, he mentioned for Katsu to use his Ash Pile Burning, so Manta could spread it around with Great Breakthrough. As he waited, he watched Ryuu's dragon break through the walls. He was going to become a strong ninja indeed, Manta thought. Just a little more training and perhaps he could make two or three, maybe even four of the dragons, capable of mass destruction.
"Ryuu, this time, try attacking with the dragon first. Let it break through an enemy, then when they're dazed and bleeding, finish them off with a different technique."

He needed to make sure to daze the opponent then come with a surprise right after the initial attack. This would keep the opponent on their feet or it would end them. Either way it would give Ryuu more time to do something else. Ryuu wondered if there were any more techniques that he could use with this one. There were probably a couple but, he still had ideas in his head that he wanted to complete before he tried anything else. Ryuu sat down upon his dragon and watched the shinobi in front of him. He looked over to the other jounin. "Thank you for your compliment and Sensei Manta I'll make sure to do that next time." Ryuu said to the both of them. He then started to go through a list of jutsus that he could use in conjunction with this one.

Nodding, Katsu took in a deep breath, asorbing in as much carbon dioxide in the air as possible. It was only a matter of adding hakra to his lungs before he spit out a large dust of ash; the cloud was about 40 ft in diameter. This technique, Katsu realized, depended a lot on Manta; the jounin had to control his wind and direct the ashes into an appropriate location that would maximize damage, and he had to do it fairly quickly. Katsu was debating on adding more ash to the technique, but since this was only a trial run, he refrained from that. Instead, he just waited for Manta's jutsu.

Manta realized as well that he would have to be incredibly fast. This time, instead of releasing the jutsu like normal, he cupped his hands around his mouth, one hand above his top lip, and the other below his bottom lip, so the blast was very refined, spreading the ash in a tight 60 degree arc, making sure not to waste any ash. Almost all of the cloud was dispersed around the walls, some settling in thick grey clumps, but most of it still a deadly cloud.
The older Jounin quickly jumped back as soon as he had moved around the ash, covering his mouth with one sleeve. Memories of a certain mission flooded back to him. He had been only 12, already a Chuunin prodigy renowned for his cold behavior and ruthless battle tactics. He and his squad, consisting of one other Chuunin and an elderly Jounin had been sent to the far northern reaches of The Land of Wind, to protect a trade caravan. Halfway down the caravan's journey to Sunagakure, an ambush had occurred. At night, nearly thirty thieves had descended down on the lone cart, smashing in all the wheels, and tipping it over. Manta had been trapped inside, and when they began to set things on fire, he had started to choke to death inside the cart. Luckily, he managed to crush open a tiny hole, from which he could breathe until the situation had been contained, and he could be broken free. From that day, Manta was extra careful not to let anything into his throat or eyes.
The jounin snapped out of his memories, motioning for Katsu to set the cloud ablaze. This time, Manta made sure to turn and hide behind the remains of the wall he had made for Ryuu, so that he wasn't blasted back again.

Ryuu would quickly moved himself and the dragon away from the ash cloud and he looked back. This would be a powerful blast so, he had to make sure it didn't hit him. He did think that he was far enough away to not get hit by the blast that was soon to come. Ryuu smiled a bit and waited for the explosion, still going through lists of jutsu in his head, trying to find a perfect one to compliment his dragon.
