(( In the Tower, Stair Racing! ))

Aezeloth watched as Amarus went over the edge of the stairs on top of the breastplate, and no sooner was she halfway down did he have his tower shield dropped down at the "starting" line and hopped atop it.

Grinning from ear to ear he looked behind him and saluted those to follow.

"See you at the bottom!"

With that he kicked off and...

Perhaps he'd kicked off a bit TOO hard to start. The speed of his newly found board was steady and good, but Aezeloth could hardly claim the same. If his fingers could have changed color they would have been white by the time he hit the bottom with a rough thud, dislodging him from the board as he rolled a few feet and into a wall.

"ARGH!" He growled as he dusted himself off. "Couldn't stick the landing."

Picking up his "board" he pulled it with him as he made room for the next person to descend.

Things just happened suddenly. The girl stood there for a moment, as if contemplating before replying, turning, and just disappearing into the darkness. If it were not for her damned red accents, he would have lost her! Taken back by her movements, he was jogging just to keep up with her. She knew this kingdom, that was obvious. But no matter where he looked, everything looked nearly the same to him - darkness. It was as if he was stuck in an endless tunnel of blackness that there the red that he was following was what was all there was at the end of it.

Looking ahead, he noted a very large structure, much different than everything else around it. Why, it wasn't even changing or altering whenever he took his eyes off of it. It... reminded him of the Silver's tower...

It was then that he noted some sounds coming from afar. "What is that?" he called out to his ... acquaintance.

Sun practically danced with excitement as she watched both Amarus and Aezeloth ride on their shields down the stair case. This was something she'd never done before and it looked to be fun as well as good training! She could hardly wait for Aezeloth to make if down.

Somehow, she managed to restrain herself. With a loud CLANG! Sun threw her shield down, took a running start, and jumped on top of it...

She flew down the stairs, the shield making a horrendous noise beneath her. Her half-cape flew out behind her, the speed actually making the spines stretch and wisp. Sun grinned from ear to ear, perfectly balanced on the shield. A curve in the stairwell offered her an opportunity to test her maneuverability, and she shifted her weight towards the wall, hit it, rode up the wall, jumped off, and spun in the air before landing again.

Laughing maniacally, Sun went flying when the shield hit the bottom, but managed to turn the fall into a roll, and smoothly got back to her feet. Fists thrown into the air in delight and triumph, she ran back toward her fellow racers.

"Again!" she cried.

Music was playing out of nowhere. A fanfare, trumpets, blasts of noise that seemed inappropriate and surreal at the same time.

And then silence. And then the scene around them shifted, darker still, until everything was stained a deep void of nothing. There was no them, they had no body, all they had was one thing calling to them. The Voice.

"I am the Voice." The tone was both musical and clear at the same time, an interval that could not be reached through normal sound. It resonated in every core of their Miasma, and reminded them of their existence simply with its presence alone. Yes, they existed because of The Voice, the one who called them to fight in this world and promised everything.

"You have been chosen, Kings and Warriors." Images began flashing in their minds, too quick for them to truly comprehend. "This is my gift to you, and in return I demand Miasma." And then a glimpse of something else, something almost all kingdoms recognized. The Silver Kingdom, collapsed, in ruin, the tower crumbling, thick silver miasma curling from the base. The Kingdom had truly fallen. "To the north the fallen Tower of Silver, those few survivors who remain will fight for Kings or find themselves with the same fate." The Voice remained blank, apathetic as the image shifted to a thicker, lush setting. "To the center, the Great King's labyrinth. Miasma flowers, the King's prized possessions, lie in the center, cursed with a price."

Lastly, the image shifted to a war-ravaged area, familiar to almost all. The contamination zone. "To the East the desolate lands, corrupted by tainted Miasma, the earth itself treacherous."

With a poignant pause, everything shifted back to colourless still. Music again, odd, raucous, mocking. "The Voice calls forth the warriors, all for the glory of the true king. The Kingdom with the lowest price in Miasma will be the next to fall."

And even in the most abysmal setting, everything almost sighed in a burst of light. No, not light, existence, of their own Miasma. The Voice communicating directly to them, both chastising and commanding, encouraging and tantalizing demanded everything including who they were themselves. It was terrifying and it was absolute. Its message was entirely simple and complete. Several would turn to their King now, and their was no doubt the words in their eyes, in their expressions, in everything. They were scared, they were uncertain, and for some, they were ready. Warriors, Kings, measly peasants and shadows. It was the King's turn to decide who would fight in their Kingdom's glory.

THE KING'S GLORY:

gaia_crown [ CUTSCENE PART 2:] To view the new cutscene, please click this link, if you haven't viewed it already (see above image). The introduction image is the same, but keep on clicking it to view the whole cutscene for THIS CURRENT EVENT.

gaia_crown [ THE KING'S CHOICE:] Now, as citizens and warriors prepare themselves, Queens and Pawns and Wild Cards, the King must come to a choice. Where will they place their pieces? As the King decides, his voice carries the final authority. They are ready to fight. They have no choice but to fight.

OOC: - When a King QUOTES you, and directs your player to a location, you are now moving to that { EVENT } marked thread. You can only try in an { EVENT } thread until you pretty much die/ your HP goes to 0. When you escape or finish successfully, please mark all gained Miasma Points HERE for your team.
- If you DIE in an event, you will LOSE ALL MIASMA POINTS GAINED. They cannot be transferred to another player.
- These events DO have difficulty levels. If you feel like you cannot handle a high difficulty level event, make sure you contact your King, either through pms, AIM, or the OOC thread. Quote the King player if using the OOC thread. The King will try their BEST to accommodate, but please do not expect them to 100% assign you to everything you want. If they assign you to a more challenging thread, consider it a compliment that they trust your skills!
- It is up to the King HOW they want to split their players. Each player in a Kingdom can only participate in one event pass or fail. They cannot return to an event pass or fail. Think CAREFULLY which ones you want to bring your characters to!
- To recap: respond rp-wise to the Voice as you wish. Ultimately however, you cannot move until your King wishes for so. You can ICly express where you want to go or wait for your King's decision. You can OOCly also talk it amongst each other. Once your King is ready, they will post their choices as to where each player will go. That is when you will move to your event threads, to try and get as many MIASMA POINTS as possible.
- At the end of OOC 48 hours from THIS POST ALL EVENT THREADS WILL CLOSE, complete or incomplete. I will then tally the Miasma Point thread. The Kingdom with the lowest Miasma points. WILL FALL and all its subjects fall to ruin.
Once again, for the King and all the players, the options are:

gaia_crown [ The Silver Kingdom Remains ] Location: here.
- Difficulty level: HARD.
- Setting: A long series of twisting tunnels lie in wait in a climb to reach the top. For those who do reach the top, a puzzle awaits them, with a prize, a secret from the late Silver King that might uncover the reason as to why they died so suddenly, perhaps even about the Voice themselves....

gaia_crown [ The Old King's Labyrinth ] Location: here.
- Difficulty level: NORMAL.
- Setting: The old King's labyrinth lie home to Miasma flowers, considered blessed flowers by many. They are cursed by nature, but if one goes through the trials and succeeds in purifying them, the rewards are greater than the endurance itself.

gaia_crown [ The Valley of the Blighted Heart] Location: here.
- Difficulty level: EASY.
- Setting: The corrupted valley lie home to all sorts of terrible creatures, it is rumoured that this is where they send those to die. All take a terrible risk in entering the area, much less surviving it...

Strength raised a brow and smiled, a strange combination to show excitement and some hesitation. What kind of training would require only a shield? Perhaps there was a method she had yet to try, and this was quite intriguing. She did as she was instructed and grabbed a large shield, following the small group to the stairs.

"How in the world..." She stood at the top of the stairs slightly confused and slack jawed. This definitely was not what she expected. But really of all people, shouldn't she be the most open minded? It would help with balance at least? That was better than nothing. "Alright, lets do this."

With that she placed her shield on the edge and shifted her weight forward.

The Star flipped the card over in her hand and watched as the ink showed her her path. She smiled a slim sly smile for this path was not new to her. She saw her guiding star now and would follow it on this journey.

She turned to leave when the king dismissed them but at the stairs there was such a ruckus that she waited at the top for it to end.

[[Entering: Uluiru]]

It was fortunate that he was relatively agile, and that he'd opted to dive through the exit portal in the silver kingdom. As a result, he rolled when he landed, prompting a muffled grunt. His eyes widened slightly as he took in his surroundings. It was...incredibly dark, and the citizens seemed to fit right into it. He'd ended up in the black kingdom, then. It wasn't one he was familiar with, at all, so that was the first order of business--learning more about his surroundings. Picking himself up off the ground, he brushed off his simple tunic, and made his way toward the black tower.

[Rei Entering]

...something is happening.

It has been almost a full day since he arrived using the Portal from the Silver Kingdom, which, by this point, has ceased to exist from this realm. By using his Amulet to provide 'distraction' or actually, disguise himself as one of the Shadows he evaded getting unneeded attention...but not for long. The Miasma charge needed to power the Spell is constantly dwindling even now.

And his broken arm is still haven't gotten the much needed medical attention. For the time being he just wrapped it in some bandages he got from his contact here, along with his face and all.

"The Voice has spoken...and did the reason of Silver Kingdom's fall is, 'it' ?"

Rei cannot fathom the reason why The Voice suddenly decided to move. After all, for as long as he remembered the stories of the Old, The Voice is akin to a god which can only move this realm by using whispers...

"The Voice calls forth the warriors, all for the glory of true king. The kingdom with the lowest place in Miasma will be the next to fall."

That would mean...this destruction would continue still?

Pondering what action he should take, Rei hid himself in the ever-changing alley, devoid of any light...blending into the darkness to formulate the next plan or survival...

Amarus watched Justice ride the shield to the bottom, and at first when he bailed by rolling she stared at him with a blank expression. Then she burst into wild laughter, and doubled over. "Breastplates! More aerodynamic!" she explained, in between bouts of laughter.

She was interrupted in her amusement when Sun aced their new sport. "... Sun. You illuminate us all," she said, before bowing formally to the other. "Yes," she agreed, most wholeheartedly, coming out of her bow, "Again indeed!"

She was in the middle of cheering on Whisper when the fanfare began, and the voice spoke. Amarus listened, and collected her breastplate off the floor. She glanced at Sun, at Whisper, at Justice. Finally, inching nearer to Justice: "Showtime?" she asked, her face and voice growing heavy.

There was so much clanging, like metal against wall in a kind of rhythm, it didn't seem so random. Maple turned her red gaze to the stairwell, wondering what it could be when suddenly...

There was.. strange music inside her head cavity followed by an even stranger voice. At first she wanted to think it was her lord, but the voice... was unfamiliar and oh so strange. Maple pulled her hands up to the sides of her 'face' as it talked to her, told her things and showed her so many images. Places to go and the demands of this Voice.

They were being called forth, the reason the King had summoned them. Why they had to fight, so they didn't end up like her new companion, lost and without a home .. or worse? Her eyes went wide and Maple could feel herself shudder as the voice vanished from her head.

"Did you hear that as well?" She asked her strange companion. "Is what it said true?"

Uru nodded, his eyes trained toward the skies above the dark tower. The clanging of metals and dark sounds became silent under the voice. The images in his head blinded him to the actual reality before him of the shadows racing like maniacs down stairs on shields and armor using fantastical magic that he (still) has never seen before. But what was said and shown in his mind was of great concern to him and ... of interest.

"For once, you and I are on the same page." He said as he held his bummed arm. If what was said was true, then it is plausible to return to the Silver Kingdom, but it would be deserted. The last thing he wanted was to see the faces and bodies of those he once knew just mere hours before. "The Silver Kingdom is gone. That is the truth. But that is all I can say. It is why I am here."

"I suppose I should talk with your king sooner than later now, right?"

Justice laughed and dusted himself off some more when Sun completely schooled them all in the art of stair racing. Blinking he was about to compliment her on her achievement when he was interrupted by THE VOICE.

When the world came back into focus he grinned and turned his attention back to Judgement when she spoke. Nodding he closed the distance between them and placed a warm hand on her shoulder.

"Aye, Showtime. Wherever the King sends us - I only hope to battle by your side."

With that he removed his hand from her shoulder and fiddled with the chain on his arm. "Then we can show the other Kingdoms what it means to be a true warrior."

Strength might not have looked that good while she was stair surfing, but be damned if she didn't do it well. She had an almost rocky landing at the end, but she recovered with poise. But then something happened. Someone was talking but it was not a voice that she recognized in the slightest, and she did not like what it was saying. Would their dark world be next? Not if she could help it.

The ghoul kicked up the shield and placed it against the wall, gauging the others reactions. she couldn't have been the only one caught off guard, and from the looks of it she wasn't. "The king will know what to do...maybe we should go back and see."

From the quiet that came from the stairs, it seemed they weren't alone in what they had heard. At least she didn't seem wrong in her assessment as her solid companion further confirmed the Voice.

She turned to him, her red eyes flashing a brief sign of sympathy at the lose of his Kingdom before turning back into their indifference. "Y-yes, I think that would be best," she replied softly, raising a hand to gesture for him to follow her once more. It wasn't only him that needed to meet before the King, she as well would need to ascend the stairs to speak with him and do all that he asked for her.

"T-the Shadowlord is at the t-top of the Tower," she explained, heading towards the stairs. "W-we should hurry, h-he would not like to w-wait... but t-there you may speak with him.. and see if he would like your aid." Maple wondered if he would, especially with an outsider.

[ Entering: Arynek ]

Stepping out of the portal, Arynek knew she was now in the Black Kingdom. Will Rei be here? With a pair of bleeding legs, the girl encouraged herself to walk out and started to explore. There were obsidian structures here and there, she could see shadows and shades walking around. She was in Black! It should be a happy thing if not the terrible fallen of their kingdom happened.

What should she do now? Should she search for Rei?

All of the sudden, there was weird music, like the cheerful one she heard from ceremony. Then a voice, the Voice started to speak. Arynek heard of "The Voice" before, but it was the first time she heard of it by herself. It was horrible, unbeatable and at the same time merciless. As the Voice addressed to all, images flashed over her mind. "Ah-" The girl couldn't help but made a short exclamation before she covered her mouth. It was their home, the fallen Silver Kingdom that she just escaped from. Her tears came out again.

Why- what gifts?

After hearing the whole story, Arynek was shivering, shivering non-stop. It was a conspiracy. The whole thing was they were all sacrifices, fighting and struggling on the pre-set stages, just to please the Voice.

She now understood why their kingdom would fall, it was an example, to other existing kingdoms, telling them they had no choices but to fight and collect Miasma until they die. The Silver kingdom was just nothing to the Voice, but one of the stages for the performance.

Yet, they couldn't resist. Their feeble flames of lives was in the hands of the Voice. They had no choices.
