Ligaya was midstretch to take the proffered limb but paused at the once over. Well, this was awkard... The tension in her shoulders remained and the desire to have her shovel was growing intense. But Scarlett didn't press the circumstances surrounding Ligaya's arrival, which made the Silver's smile soften.

"I'm just wet, maybe a little bruised where I landed but mostly wet," she chuckled. "Portals aren't usually this rough with us. Normally it's like stepping into another room. But thank you for asking, Miss Scarlett. I go by Joy or ditch-digger, but Joy sounds much prettier."

Madison performed a proper obeisance when Power was laid upon her - a fitting role, and one she would use to its fullest capability. She glanced back and saw Kouki nearly flat on the ground; with a sigh, she dismissed her servant, his body vanishing into mana. He would be useful later, but this sort of scenario was really not his forte. It only made him nervous, poor constructed thing. A flaw she had never been able to remedy, alas.

At least in battle he was ferocious.

She stood back and watched those around her, making notes, keeping quiet. Waiting for orders.

Hearing the soft, yet bold voice of the one named Mjoll, the newly named Empress turned her head towards her, giving a soft smile and a nod. It was nice to see that someone was so open to lay it on the line for those who had come to their kingdom in hopes of a new home.

"I think that would be a lovely idea - if you need any assistance, let me know, hmm?" She offered up. Sure she was a somewhat higher classed woman, but she adored the detail that was put in to clothwork of this kingdom. It was safe to say she dabbled, many times.

A lot.

Okay, she had a secret hobby.

Watching Bastion storm out, she turned to her again, giving her a soft look, before patting her shoulder. "May need to talk to him also, hm?" She offered, before turning to the Silver Guests. "If you wish, we can find a way to support you, clothing wise - some of you look like you have had . . . a less than stellar attempt at coming here. Please let us know." She offered to them.

I just get so excited while playing her...

Oh dear. It seemed there was drama.
Acerium wanted to know more about this drama, but she was busy!
Oh busy!
It seemed that some people were catching on that she wasn't telling the whole truth about why they were here, but it was, at least, a truth. They were going to shadow a kingdom anyway.
And besides. She didn't want to talk about horrific disasters. Noooooo.
Clothes sounded lovely. absolutely wonderful. She was ready to jump into the arms of the offerers and say MAKE ME SOME CLOTHES.
But she had the emperor's attention and wasn't sure if she should take up the offer until the emperor said so. It seemed the polite thing to do, and perfectly appropriate to his serious and calm demeanor.
It was like her hyperactivity greased the wheels of her old training. Goodness! this was so fun! She could almost forget.
"As representatives of the neutral nation, we are happy to trade our services for your hospitality and good will."
It was what she was supposed to say, the rote phrase that she had been taught to say when she wasn't sure what else to say. Of course, the way she said it was quite light and sunny. So fun! She had forgotten how it felt!
She'd wait until nightfall to be depressed.

The softer smile made Scarlett relax minimally, though she threw a glance backward at Lifen as she offered assistance to the newcomers. This was beginning to feel terribly like they were already supporting refugees before the war had even begun. It didn't bode well.

"She's right, of course," Scarlett agreed, turning to look back at Joy and then, briefly, at the other newcomers. "I could help a little with what goods I have in stock at the shop, whatever little things are needed."

She crossed her arms over her chest and unconsciously stroked a finger across the new golden emblem on her chest. "But please just call me Scarlett, Joy." She managed a smile for her, trying to hide her horror at calling someone ditch-digger of all things.

Having stepped back among the crowd, Jason watched on with interest as the Emperor began to make his choices. He smiled when each one was chosen. He was not worried at not being among them, for the ones that were seemed powerful and strong. He would be happy to support them.

He then watched as the emperor released golden threats, and one of them hit him right on the corner of his shirt. With a gasp he looked down, seeing the emblem imprinted on his clothing. He felt confident, stronger even because of it. With a determined gaze he bowed to the emperor as he looked towards his summoned humanoid.

Said humanoid merely shrugged. "Looks like we've been drafted."

"Does it worry you?" Jason asked him.

"Nah" Zanthvos shook his head. "It's better then sitting around and watching everyones a** get kicked."

He stared silently as Mjoll spoke, a look of understanding faintly showing in his face. He was working to keep the trained look, but it was rather hard. The day was beginning to wear at him, and there were a lot of questions flying. A lot of pointed ones.

Still, it explained so much. "I... will keep that in mind." As well, at least it meant he was not so 'ladylike' that it was too hard to comprehend. One above his... possibly dead father. Well that aside. He didn't so mind the concept of clothes, rather... he dusted at a spot on his chest had not been there earlier, realizing it... didn't quite come off. No, some of it might have just stuck to his hand. "Perhaps something clean... would be preferred..." What exactly had he gotten on him? The only thing he'd touched were other Silver's in the escape and... the town's greatest... oh. Oh that was not ok. "And... a place to wash one's hands." He truly did not want to know. Who would come before their King in such a state?

So it was the king, information held true this time. The emperor also... did seem something of a pompo- oh there he went almost quoting the Trash King in his mind. Tsk, best to silence that with a polite smile. "Then it is a pleasure, your eminence." H added, chiming after the other woman. It seemed a proper term. "We come with peaceful tidings, though I am sad to hear of this war. Losing the serenity this place holds would be a great loss." He merely offered a polite smile at that, nodding to the mention of assistance. "Each of us is skilled in our own way, trades if you may call it. Certainly we may have some pleasant use to exchange for your kindness."

And then there was the other girl, nearly saying too much. His eyes fell on her, unamused briefly before returning to a calmed state, almost tired state. Ligaya seemed to have learned to hold her tongue, such was enough for the time being. If it would become best to state something, they could at a later point. "Market day... was merely more... exciting than usual. Quite busy you might say." He replied in a somewhat dry tone, disliking the taste of dancing around the topic. He preferred the truth, but halves had to do for now. That was as much as he wanted to add to the questions as he offered a practiced smile.

"No, we were not aware of any war. We merely came in good will, as we of the Silver Kingdom have always believed in a fair stance to all." He added in response to Lifen's question of war. He had no intention of picking a fight, that wasn't their way. He glanced off a bit, frowning. Then again, he also wished to never see what he'd seen again. Protecting a land wasn't taking a side, it was prevention of hell stepping forth? That much... perhaps. He wasn't sure. He seemed he'd be in debt to some degree though...

He glanced at the woman again as she chimed in about going, nodding briefly. An excuse to evade these conversations, and... get rid of the questionable content on his clothes. ...really. That was not sanitary. "I would be most thankful for your kindness." He was tempted to add a request for a shower as well, but maybe they would offer. He felt awkward asking more of them for the time.

Ligaya's response fizzled out without actually ending in a proper answer to his question. Mengyao frowned a little, his eyes flickering briefly to Infnity, the corners of his lips quirking upwards just a little on one side. Diplomacy was oftentimes overlooked, but Edric would not be one of those places in which it was forgotten.

Acerium's words caught his attention, however, and Mengyao slowly turned towards her, tilting his head as he scrutinized her. He knew very little about the Silver Kingdom, but something was not quite adding up. Abrupt "ambassadors" right at the beginning of the end was too coincidental to be just a mere coincidence.

"Perhaps you can," he said evenly, and his fingers absently tapped the inside of his wrist thoughtfully. Mengyao leveled a look at the three who had arrived, carefully examining their features.

"We are at war," he said calmly. "Or we will be, very soon. You are representatives of a kingdom far away from here. Times are perilous. You have a choice to make, Ambassadors. I can offer you a bit of my power, should you choose to use it wisely. If you wish not to help us, then I will leave you in peace and let you stay here without any repercussions, but you will not receive what I have to offer."

Mengyao lifted his chin. "What do you say? Will you fight for the Gold Kingdom?"

He turned his head, just slightly.

"Imryn," said Mengyao. "I wish to speak with you."

Mjoll nodded and pulled from her small hip bag another handkerchief. "Will this do for the moment?" She asked, it wasn't much but until they could get away from the crown it would be better than nothing, she offered the piece of cloth to Molan. Looking a little tired herself.

Blue eyes shifting over to Lifen as she spoke and a small nod, "Any assistance that can be provided would be lovely. If you'd like I could show you a few tricks of crafting if you so wish." She paused, "I know you're a noble, but sometimes it's nice to have a hobby."

there was another pause when Lifen mentioned a talk to Bastion. "Probably won't do any good. He'll continue to be that way sadly." A small sigh as Mjoll was trying to keep composed, eventually switching to thoughtfulness on the clothing.

"I have a lavatory you can use to clean up. I'm sure after your trip you'd each enjoy a nice bath while I prepare you all some new clothing. Since it'll take a little bit for me to sew each set." She should've really invested in more than one lavatory.

There was a pause as Mengyao started to speak again. She fell silent and watched, head tilted just a little. It was interesting, he was offering them his power as well? Hm, it was kind of interesting.

He gratefully took the item, practically peeling the skin from his hand as he tried to clean it. "More than one could hope for." He'd have to wash it before he gave it back. A lady's hand should not touch such things. He cast the woman an ver grateful look as he felt at least somewhat less foul for the moment. At least temporarily.

The woman he taken time to talk to another briefly of her assistance as he'd cleaned speaking up as if reading his mind. "It would be appreciated, certainly. It has.... been a long day?" He replied slowly, wondering if once again he had said too much. Or perhaps too little.

He paused as Mengyao spoke up, eyes somewhat wide befre he regained composure. That... he had just asked them to fight in a war? For a country they only barely knew? Perhaps they were too proud a kind, moreso than he'd thought. Then again, the other two seemed far more unsure. Would they just cave at the request? Especially after what they'd seen?

It was somewhat tempting to be honest, but at the same time. All these years, he had been protected by his Kingdom. He couldn't be sure it was gone, afterall he hadn't vanished. Or would he? A troubled look swept across his face as he contemplated the statement. Either way they could, remain, but there must have been a catch. Surely some card up the man's sleeve. "You would ask a neutral party, coming in peace, such things?" How where they to know he didn't intend to send them straight at their own?

Not that there was anything left to fight with.

"If I were to even consider fighting for any side in a war, I would want to know the reason behind it. We know nothing of your war, nothing of why you fight. To protect? To destroy? We have barely arrived, yet you ask us to convert and join an army?" He was less than pleased, perhaps even cross with the man. While it could be meant in kindness, he suspected the King was after something. Well, certainly fighters in a war, but more than that. "What do you seek so much that you would risk everything for it? For a people not inclined to fighting, if nothing else I would ask a valid reason to raise arms against another. For we have never favored another, nor have we scorned another. Such is not our way."

His question was simple really. Why should HE, or anyone, wish to fight for Mengyao, for the Gold Kingdom? What did they hope for that was so much better? Was not their goal to cause the same ruin to other kingdoms? Or perhaps... it was simply to protect their own? Such would be a valid reason. He... honestly... the thought of another land facing that. No one should ever be required to see the sight of their homeland in such a state.

Music was playing out of nowhere. A fanfare, trumpets, blasts of noise that seemed inappropriate and surreal at the same time.

And then silence. And then the scene around them shifted, darker still, until everything was stained a deep void of nothing. There was no them, they had no body, all they had was one thing calling to them. The Voice.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
((OOC: Click on the image to view the cutscene! This is a NEW cutscene, the image just looks the same from the first page.))

"I am the Voice." The tone was both musical and clear at the same time, an interval that could not be reached through normal sound. It resonated in every core of their Miasma, and reminded them of their existence simply with its presence alone. Yes, they existed because of The Voice, the one who called them to fight in this world and promised everything.

"You have been chosen, Kings and Warriors." Images began flashing in their minds, too quick for them to truly comprehend. "This is my gift to you, and in return I demand Miasma." And then a glimpse of something else, something almost all kingdoms recognized. The Silver Kingdom, collapsed, in ruin, the tower crumbling, thick silver miasma curling from the base. The Kingdom had truly fallen. "To the north the fallen Tower of Silver, those few survivors who remain will fight for Kings or find themselves with the same fate." The Voice remained blank, apathetic as the image shifted to a thicker, lush setting. "To the center, the Great King's labyrinth. Miasma flowers, the King's prized possessions, lie in the center, cursed with a price."

Lastly, the image shifted to a war-ravaged area, familiar to almost all. The contamination zone. "To the East the desolate lands, corrupted by tainted Miasma, the earth itself treacherous."

With a poignant pause, everything shifted back to colourless still. Music again, odd, raucous, mocking. "The Voice calls forth the warriors, all for the glory of the true king. The Kingdom with the lowest price in Miasma will be the next to fall."

And even in the most abysmal setting, everything almost sighed in a burst of light. No, not light, existence, of their own Miasma. The Voice communicating directly to them, both chastising and commanding, encouraging and tantalizing demanded everything including who they were themselves. It was terrifying and it was absolute. Its message was entirely simple and complete. Several would turn to their King now, and their was no doubt the words in their eyes, in their expressions, in everything. They were scared, they were uncertain, and for some, they were ready. Warriors, Kings, measly peasants and shadows. It was the King's turn to decide who would fight in their Kingdom's glory.

OOC

THE KING'S GLORY:

gaia_crown [ CUTSCENE PART 2:] To view the new cutscene, please click this link, if you haven't viewed it already (see above image). The introduction image is the same, but keep on clicking it to view the whole cutscene for THIS CURRENT EVENT.

gaia_crown [ THE KING'S CHOICE:] Now, as citizens and warriors prepare themselves, Queens and Pawns and Wild Cards, the King must come to a choice. Where will they place their pieces? As the King decides, his voice carries the final authority. They are ready to fight. They have no choice but to fight.

OOC: - When a King QUOTES you, and directs your player to a location, you are now moving to that { EVENT } marked thread. You can only try in an { EVENT } thread until you pretty much die/ your HP goes to 0. When you escape or finish successfully, please mark all gained Miasma Points HERE for your team.
- If you DIE in an event, you will LOSE ALL MIASMA POINTS GAINED. They cannot be transferred to another player.
- These events DO have difficulty levels. If you feel like you cannot handle a high difficulty level event, make sure you contact your King, either through pms, AIM, or the OOC thread. Quote the King player if using the OOC thread. The King will try their BEST to accommodate, but please do not expect them to 100% assign you to everything you want. If they assign you to a more challenging thread, consider it a compliment that they trust your skills!
- It is up to the King HOW they want to split their players. Each player in a Kingdom can only participate in one event pass or fail. They cannot return to an event pass or fail. Think CAREFULLY which ones you want to bring your characters to!
- To recap: respond rp-wise to the Voice as you wish. Ultimately however, you cannot move until your King wishes for so. You can ICly express where you want to go or wait for your King's decision. You can OOCly also talk it amongst each other. Once your King is ready, they will post their choices as to where each player will go. That is when you will move to your event threads, to try and get as many MIASMA POINTS as possible.
- At the end of OOC 48 hours from THIS POST ALL EVENT THREADS WILL CLOSE, complete or incomplete. I will then tally the Miasma Point thread. The Kingdom with the lowest Miasma points. WILL FALL and all its subjects fall to ruin.
Once again, for the King and all the players, the options are:

gaia_crown [ The Silver Kingdom Remains ] Location: here.
- Difficulty level: HARD.
- Setting: A long series of twisting tunnels lie in wait in a climb to reach the top. For those who do reach the top, a puzzle awaits them, with a prize, a secret from the late Silver King that might uncover the reason as to why they died so suddenly, perhaps even about the Voice themselves....

gaia_crown [ The Old King's Labyrinth ] Location: here.
- Difficulty level: NORMAL.
- Setting: The old King's labyrinth lie home to Miasma flowers, considered blessed flowers by many. They are cursed by nature, but if one goes through the trials and succeeds in purifying them, the rewards are greater than the endurance itself.

gaia_crown [ The Valley of the Blighted Heart] Location: here.
- Difficulty level: EASY.
- Setting: The corrupted valley lie home to all sorts of terrible creatures, it is rumoured that this is where they send those to die. All take a terrible risk in entering the area, much less surviving it...

He leveled a cool look at Molan, not rising to the bait that the newcomer had dangled in front of his face. He was used to it, after all; if he chose to take offense at every little statement than he would not be Emperor.

"I am asking you nothing," said Mengyao calmly. "I am giving you a choice, and you should choose wisely, Ambassador, for you might not get a chance to do so later. I will do what it takes to protect the people of this country."

He could hear the music now, rising and swelling, loud and obtrusive and sudden in the otherwise quiet air. It blared out obnoxiously, and the Emperor could not help but wince just slightly, a sigh of exasperation slipping out. Such a time for the interruption, though the exasperation quickly melted away, a sense of foreboding taking hold instead.

The sky darkened - he could feel it in the wind, the change of the world around them. Mengyao closed his eyes briefly and when he opened them again he could see darkness.

And he could hear. The Voice was in his head, loud and clear. Images flashed in front of his thoughts, bright silver and white, and then red, dark red, destruction, and he could almost taste the metallic tang of blood on his tongue -

No. I will not let my kingdom fall.

He opened his eyes.

"It is beginning," said the Emperor. "You have heard what the Voice has to say. There is no time to waste; we must begin."

A hard, determined look crossed his face, lips curving upwards into a smile.

"I trust you will all do this kingdom and your home proud."

Shra fell for what felt like forever and landed with a thud on her backside. She didn't even have time to open her eyes yet and look around before the voice was in her head. Just what was happening, first she had to flee her home now this!

She slowly opened her emerald eyes to asses her surrounding. Her eyes widened when she reasons she was sent to the land Gold. She looked around for anyone she knew but saw no one.

Shar stood up on her own two feet when she could and then looked for the nearest people who could tell her what was going on.

He merely stared down the man, stubborn not to give in at that point. A choice, hardly. He was saying they 'had a chance' at something. Goodness knew what. They couldn't say, they didn't know him.

Then again, he was to be right.

Eyes lifted as he heard the sound of music, confusion evident in his face as he tried to pinpoint the nonexistent source. To no avail as he visably flinched as it seemed to grow to a level he himself couldn't find bearable. And then it seemed to vanish, instead awash with a repeat of what he'd seen earlier.

No. A solid truth. It was gone. Their home gone, now a land of waste. Something everyone would know. As the painful visions vanished with the warnings, he merely watched the man a moment before sighing quietly and turning at his comment. He had his place, he understood that. To protect his people, his kin. The issue was, Molan couldn't promise he wanted to turn on his own.

Offering one's self up meant without question. He could not find it in himself to say he would harm another of his own that had converted. As such he held no intent to promise any allegiance at this time. After all, even if his King had failed him, his fellow people had not? Or what shred of pride to be one of them still held firm.

"I... do this only to prevent further tragedy." Though as the voice, said... there was no way to win. He shook his head, obviously not entirely convinced of their reason, but who else did he have to aid? He had no kingdom to call his own and no safety short of this. He would do what he must, and merely that. He had no intention to die, or to become one of a flock he held no attachment to. Rather, if nothing else, he would show that even the weakest still had a place in this world. At least for this moment, he was in no hurry to agree to any single side. "We shall see what is found."

Imryn's nervousness quickly morphed into concern as several people from another kingdom appeared suddenly and in random places. Whatever their reason for coming it seemed that the portals were unstable at best or maybe something had happened on the other end to throw them off. either way, she was content just to hang back, listening and observing to the goings on.

As time went on, it seemed that they weren't going to be revealing details too quickly as to why there were here, as she seriously doubted that so many representatives from the Silver kingdom would be sent without an announcement. Especially during times such as these. She didn't have time to think about it much more as the Emperor called out for her. Quietly, she made her way up towards him, though didn't have a change to speak before music suddenly started to play.

Alright.. this was a tad odd.

Then the darkness rolled in and The Voice spoke to them and suddenly having a few visitors there didn't seem like such an important issue. Well, seeing as they weren't actually visitors and more like refugees. Which would explain why it seemed they were skirting around the issue a bit when asked about things. A small pang of sadness quickly followed by panic flashed through her, feeling badly for those who had lost their home but quickly realizing that her home could be next on the list if they didn't produce the results needed.

"Sire... how may I be of service?" Imryn asked, not sure if there was much she could still do after the latest revelations aside from head out, but she wasn't going to just leave without checking in.
