The minute Otto made it up, Eva immediately scrambled back and away from the edge, looking a little pale. She was still well enough to shoot Otto a cheeky, if not a slightly weak, grin though.
"It worked, didn't it?" She teased, patting him on the shoulder before pushing herself up and onto her feet. She eyed the familiar pits of magma with a grimace, and then took a tentative step forward.
"This again."

Otto frowned, and sighed quietly. She'd done that for him. Done something that clearly made her uncomfortable. "You really are stupid."
They hadn't made it far before Otto's luck once again ran out. He heard a loud hiss, almost like a steam whistle blow before where he was standing exploded. The teen went flying, his body hurdling towards an open pit of magma.
ALL THE NOPES!
He managed to keep his panic in check, reaching into his shirt for the pendant around his neck.
He ollied the eff out of there.

"I know," She answered, grinning at him, "You tell me that a lot."
Of course, being Otto and Eva, their luck was extremely short-lived. She barely even had time to react to the sudden danger Otto had been thrust into before the ground beneath her began to crack, magma seeping up. She took one, quick glance to the side to ensure that the blond had gotten out of there in time, and then grabbed her own pendant.

About dem magma pits.
Eva's glared up at the cliff as they arrived, yet again, to the same place. They would get past this and to the altar! ...Eventually!

Shoulders sagging, she turned to look at Otto with an apologetic look. "You know, you don't have to keep coming with me to help satiate my curiosity. I feel bad dragging you into danger every time."

Eva frowned, shaking her head. "Even then, we--"
And then her protest was cut short as a familiar kind of monster emerged. The young woman just let out a casual sigh of exasperation before summoning Chara.
.......but well. One was okay. What sucked was that shortly after the arrival of the first monster, another one appeared right behind it. Oh god damnit.

"You know.. I almost wanna cry." Otto murmured in a flat and unimpressed tone, summoning Tenya.
"You take one, I'll take the other." Oh well. With that promotion under his belt, he had a little more experience and confidence to do a little bit more. Just a little bit.

She flashed him a grin, and then gave her staff an expert twirl. Letting out a cheerful, "aye aye, captain!" and a salute at his order, she lunged forward and swung her blade out.

Eva might have looked very, very sheepish at that moment. Clearing her throat, she tried again, holding her staff like a baseball bat and following through with the motion as she swung at the monster.
It collided with the creature with a satisfying impact. Beaming, the girl turned to look at Otto with a grin. If she had a tail, it would have been wagging.

He was quick to return to his own battle, barely registering the blows he received and dishing out his own tenfold.

Had Otto asked that question aloud, Eva would have informed him that he was the only puppy, forever and ever. She grinned at him and replied to the thumbs up with a wink. To be honest, she was also pretty damn impressed right now--Otto was doing some serious, heavy damage to that monster of his.
When her own creature swept out and tried to attack her, Eva retaliated by swinging up her staff, the blade just grazing the creature before she was forced to duck away to safety.

Against all odds, Eva apparently swung her weapon hard enough to smack the monster back, staggering it for a second. Even Chara seemed surprised, and the pair was silent as they stared blankly at the creature.
