Another recount showed that he was missing someone. There were three more than before, but shouldn't there be four?! Blackbirch made a quick scan of the faces then gasped.
Sandbur.
"No..." he whispered in shocked surprise then bolted back out towards the barn. He saw the farmer, mere steps from the door and kicked himself into high gear, running like he never ran before!
The goal was to run right in front of the farmer, gather his attention away from the door and out to the side of the barn instead to give Sand ample time to escape herself.... He only prayed luck was with him.

Coming up to the barn, he saw rabbits yet again. Everywhere, running in all directions.
Including HIS HUTCH RABBITS HOW IN THE HELL!
Angry as all get out at this point, he gritted his teeth and aimed his shotgun again. Waste of shells it was starting to feel like...

Lamb put on a burst of speed as Charcoal was catching up to her. It was almost funny. The stakes here were far greater than they'd been during the runner trials, but she felt so much less nervous. She wasn't thinking. In this kind of trial, if you thought, you'd be dead. So she ran, tossing a wink at the dark bucks behind her that said "Bet we can get them to safety faster than anybody else could." Flay-rah and four new rabbits for the warren. Tonight... tonight was a success. It was a gutsy move, the gutsiest she'd ever seen, and maybe not a good idea. But worth it? She thought so.
But tonight wasn't over yet. She couldn't think. She couldn't allow herself to trip up or get worried. She felt a need... a need for speed. Right now, the only thing she could justify doing was fulfilling that need.

Pepper had seen it, watched as Raven had been shot. He had stopped long enough to check on her, she was alive, and Betony was helping her back to the warren. The farmer however was heading toward the barn and that was where Althea was. He wasted no time in bolting for the barn, hopefully the runner had warned them and they had gotten out but he still felt the need to check. Something didn't sit right.

- Staff Post - He'd never seen it aimed at him before, but any rabbit born on a farm knew what a gun was, and what it could do. Freezing for just a moment, he fought down the tharn and quickly moved his tail, hoping the shot would miss.

Mud stilled as she heard the shot, watching as the black buck went tumbling to the ground. She urged the others forward, told them to move she would see to the buck as she ducked back to check on the male. He was injured but alive; she lifted up, glancing around. Althea was nowhere to be found, she warred with herself for a bit before nosing him gently. “Come on, get up if you can. I know it hurts but we must move. Lean against my side if you need to.” She stated lowering herself down to help him.

Blast it!
Another dark rabbit he was sure he hit but now couldn't see!
His face red now, he stormed into the barn, throwing wide open the doors and seeing how badly his feedbin had been ravaged.
Next time he was setting snares around the whole place, he promised himself.
Noising the barrel of the gun around and prodding things, he checked the stalls and didn't bother trying to calm the horses and sheep. Not yet anyway.

Aythi had followed Pepper to the barn, her team was now mostly safe back at the warren even though Raven had been shot, she was still alive. She couldn't just leave the other teams to fend for themselves, not with the dog and farmer on the lose. But her ears pricked to the air. The sound of another gun shot. Aythi skidded into the fray, seeing a rabbit she didn't recognize take a hit, just like Raven had. Inle' tonight is not the night for dancing, she muttered to herself inwardly, skidding to a halt beside Pepper. "Who is that?" she whispered quickly, glancing around to see the mess and empty hutch. "Hutch rabbit? Oh Frith no..." she breathed heavily.

Sandbur had fended off the cat and had bolted the moment the farmer entered the barn. She had no idea where to hide, but she thought of one place that may be safe. She dove into the crate she had been looking in before, holding perfectly still, eyes pinched shut.

Coal was confused by the doe. He could barely remember her name but he nodded. "Live life to run." He heard the gun shot and saw one of the hutch rabbits fall but continued. He wasn't about to sacrifice one for three others. "Come on. Hurry. You can still run. Someone will get him. He'll be brought back to warren just fine." He continued running towards the warren, it was the only thing to do. Escape or be killed.

Blackbird wheeled around, finding a stack of hay beside the barn and diving behind it. He paused a moment, catching his breath, only to realize that his first plan didn't work.
He nearly cried out in frustration, but now was only thinking that he needed to get the others to safety. No matter the stakes...
He bolted again, making his way around to the barn door again, then froze out of eyeshot from within. He crept to the door, peering in to see the farmer sifting around and his back to the door. He took this chance to bolt into the barn and dash behind a stack of crates. He could smell one of his fellow warren mates in one of the boxes and began making his way away from them, further into the barn. He aimed for the horse stalls, keeping to the shadows for the time being...

Snakeroot found her way to the barn just in time to see the farmer making his way into it, his weapon at the ready and his face as red as a rose. She huddled herself down into a corner just outside, and her eyes scanned for Anis, however, she could not find her. Most had either fled or hidden it seemed, save for a few lingering rabbits, of which Anis was not one.
Her head and chest pounded in pained unison as her mind automatically leapt to the worse conclusion. Had Anis been put in a situation just as she had and not been as fortunate?
She had to remind herself that Anisthary was strong, that she could keep herself alive and safe, and had proven this to Snakeroot for an indistinguishable amount of time. She could take care of herself. And it was with that last thought that she realized it wasn’t Anisthary that needed her, but she that need Anisthary. The realization came as a shock, but the evidence was all there, she had just been too blind to see it.
With a tremble to her legs, Snakeroot moved back and began to scour the farm, picking up all the discarded flay-rah that had been forgotten in all the chaos. She would not let this raid be for naught. She would bring back as much flay-rah as she could, find Anisthary, who would be just fine, and they would head back to the warren. It would be a story for the ages that made the storytellers tremble with jealousy, and they would live on happily watching all the new kittens grow old.
She swept back to where she had fallen the first time, scooping the carrots into her mouth, and sought out the nooks and crannies that clever bucks and does had stashed their flay-rah in. They would find them empty should they return, but at least it would not have been forgotten.
Her mouth bursting with flay-rah, Snakeroot made her way back toward the fence, hoping to find others that could help with her stash. She had proven very unhelpful in this raid, but was very much trying to make up for it.

Pepper watched as the farmer entered the barn. He looked over at Aythi, "Follow me. We should circle behind the barn and make noise. Perhaps we can draw him out and give the other's a chance to escape. Come on." He whispered softly moving around behind it to find something to bang against and make a loud ruckus.
