With so many helping to loosen the snare, Betony is able to pull herself out of the wire, though she has to cough for breath at first.

But she's not who the farmer has in his sight...

He'd aimed too high and missed. Nearly, but missed. Cursing, he stomped into his boots and hurried across the field to where his dog was tied up. To hell with a good stew, these things were everywhere and his crop had been sad enough without it getting raided and chewed through by some insane rabbits.

Unlatching the chain around the hound's collar, he held the barking mutt for a moment before letting him go.

+Swan-Song+

Swan panted and his chest heaved as the peg finally came free. His front paws were covered in dirt and he had a number of cuts on the pads of his paws staining some of the snow white fur pink. He heard the click and looked up; then the sound of the gun and he made a shriek sound. Never had he heard something like that, or smelled it. Sour; wrong; worse than those carrots and cabbage. He pushed the does, wanting them up; his clear light eyes were nearly rolling as his muscles trembled and shook threatening him with Tharn; and then he saw it. Red; everything was red, still cold. Even as he saw the red, he saw the Farmer going for the dog.

Swan thumped his back foot. Humans were not kind, they were to be feared. His maril had been wrong. He looked to the does, his eyes wide; willing Frith to make them run. Aythi had stayed for him, he would stay for her.

User ImageAir. Sweet sweet air. Betony lay there a moment, coughing and fighting for breath, as a world of sound crashed around her. Banging and barking and just -

No. Enough of this. No sooner was she able to draw breath, then she was off and trying to run. Everything hurt, but she had had enough of the farm.

Pepper pulled back as the peg came free and Betony was safe once more. He waited by her while she breathed and then he heard it. The gun shot ripped through the rest of the noise like some monster force. "Move! Sweet Frith move!" He called at the group around him. Urging them to move forward. "We must get out of here." Then he heard it the baying of the dog, and as he glanced back the farmer released the hound. "RUN!" He bellowed once more.

They had gotten Betony free! She seemed well enough to run, only after she caught her breath though. But thats not what jolted her out of her momentary state of relief. A gun shot echoed across the entire farm. Quicky her head snapped just in time to see the farmer narrowly miss taking off Snakeroot's head. Her heart pounded but she had no time to praise Frith for the miss. She glanced around for the others. "Oh no, Run!" she shouted though it was not really directed at anyone, just panicked words slipping out of her mouth as she looked around for Swan-song. "Run Swan, as fast as you can, for the warren!" she said and nosed him, firmly, not meaning to hurt him but to get him to run his little paws off.

The dog was now lose and charging them quickly. Dropping what she was doing, she darted back to scoop up her flay-rah before high tailing it as fast as she could, she didn't need anyone to tell her twice.

Kalei breathed a sigh of relief when Betony was freed and the farmer missed, and she rushed to pick up the flayrah she'd dropped while the human would have to reload. The farmer didn't seem to have that in mind, however.

Hearing the eager barking of the rowf, Kalei bolted away from it, heading for the warren. They'd been here long enough.

As Betony struggled free Raven's attention fell back on the farmer and his gun. His first shot had missed THANK FRITH! But now he was letting the mongrel dog off it's chain, "Quickly now! Everyone scatter! Head back to the warren, all those slow on foot stay close to me! I won't let this disgusting creature get the better of us! GO GO GO!" she really hated babysitting but if she wanted to look good then she had to try to keep these rabbits alive.

Snakeroot hadn’t been focused, or perhaps she had been too focused, just not on the right thing. The shot rang through the air as the farmer’s gun went off, and her head pounded with a crippling pain that had her falling to the cold ground underneath. It was at that moment that the bullet sailed over head, and she youled with a broken cry at the pain that was so unrelenting. Her ears, so tender and alert had heard the bullet cut through the air above her, and she trembled as she got back to her feet in time for the jingling of the collar to stop. She fumbled, but got her bearing enough to run. She turned for the warren, and made sure to keep herself alert this time. She would not follow Anis, because following would mean giving away her location. She would have gladly taken that bullet had it meant the farmer being satisfied in his blood lust enough to keep is attention off the others. But, the bullet had missed, by the grace of Frith, and now they were in deeper trouble than ever.

Hoping to at least draw the attention of the elil, she shot behind it, and the words ‘be tricky’ slipped through her head. She would be tricky, she would draw this mongrel out into the middle of nowhere and lose him, leaving him confused and disoriented with too many scents to properly track. It would only work if it took the bait of course, but at least it wouldn’t be anywere near Anis. Raven's voice, however, made her think twice about her plan, and she took off toward the warren. At least if the elil followed, she would have a back up plan.

User Image The gunshot ripped through the air and she lost her footing, sending her tumbling over into the dust. Dead, she was dead. She’d been shot, surely she had… but wait, no, she was still alive and her heart was beating still, oh thank you. Sunheart scrambled upright just in time to see the farmer unlatch the dog. The dog. With a small whine of terror, she turned and once more fled, as fast as her small body could carry her.

The farmer watched as his dog went tearing away from the rabbits.

"What in the blue blazes..."

And then his wife's cat went streaking out of the barn.
Had everything gone completely batshit?

He swung his shotgun around wildly, not even sure what to aim at.

He was pretty sure he could hear the horses as well. He'd let loose a potshot and then go to the barn to see what all the commotion was about.

Everything seemed to be falling apart. She could hear the dog leaving, but was little calmed. The farmer was still here, and although she was distancing herself from him, she'd heard tales of how far the snake could lash out. Other sounds soon reached her ears, too, those of other elil, and even the hooved ones. What... what was going on?!

She glanced over her shoulder, and her eyes widened as the farmer took aim.
