Well would you listen to that? There really was music, but it was something distant, soft, and not really Melvin's style. It was still infectious as he moved and tried to him it as he looked about, swept up in the sound to not notice his two feet moving to four paws. He'd unravel this mystery and bring back his findings back to the labs for all the techs to see!

Jerry had slowed as he spotted the statues, his glazed eyes drifting from one to the next, trying to figure out where the voice was coming from... he heard the sound of claws on stone and turned sharply, bazooka at the ready-
it looked like a minipet. "Melvin?" He managed weakly. The ominous feeling of being watched was suddenly punctuated by the groan of crumbling stone. "LOOK OUT!" He hurried forward, grabbing the dog by the scruff and squeezed his pendant...

The long hallway opened to a chamber where Melvin walked in to see an ornate mask on a pedestal. It confused him to see a mask in a island he assumed was about music, but he rose up just to place his paws and notice that he was short and a minipet!
With a yelp, he jumped back, but looked up when Jerry showed up. Something was wrong as the chamber shook. Before the sound reached its peak, Melvin was picked up and teleported out with nothing but a defeated howl.

Melvin did not like being a little spider dog, but he hated to be left behind when Jerry was going to go check the temple again. The Pygmy Otokoyo Spider Melvin just wasn't having it when Jerry was about to go through the portal that he barked until he got a pendant. It didn't take any time at all to find the portal and soon they were back. This island would be theirs!
Pleased with himself, Melvin panted with a big smile in the jungle heat.

Melvin was following close behind until he stopped to sniff a bush and then looked up at a large bird of some sort with vibrant plumage and jumped in the air. He might have been a bit affected by his new form.

"Nothing," Jerry breathed with relief, "C'mon.... we can do this." He felt bad making the trainee move forward while in his odd fox-like form. Oh well, so long as he stayed close, he could protect him.
The maze proved tricky to stay together, unfortunately- once again he got turned around. Once he thought he knew his way, they were separated by a corridor suddenly shutting itself off between them- No matter. Melvin could use his nose.
Jerry was following his heart.

"Arrw?" Jerry was gone, but Melvin already found the gates. As he sniffed the air, he caught a brief smell of something familiar. It wasn't a brand but one Melvin had added to his mental listing. It was a generic, cheap, and made just for sweat and blood. Des really needed to invest in better soap as he followed the smell.

Melvin continued to follow the smell if cheap soap and stopped when he got to some familiar ruins If Jerry was going to be anywhere, that would be the place. Barking, he ran forward through the halls, unkniwinh as his body morphed from that of a musical band mouse to that if a vaisel.

The music was back... the music... just follow it. She was toying with him, he knew it... but it was alright. It was home. It was... "Melvin?" Barks had turned into squeaks and turned into yips before sounding more like language he understood- wait.
He glanced down at feathers with a surprised squawk- well, this was better than-
And then the tentacles were back.
"Hell. Let's... let's keep going, we can do it just... just be careful!"
