Sparrow was willing to take the risk of disturbing the hawk. If things got too heated, he figured he'd be able to scurry away- and the prestige of being a runner was truly tempting.

Though he was doing his best to be careful, he had some close scrapes in his haste. He'd not quite rustled the grass enough to rouse the hawk, but he needed to be more cautious!
