Thuli snorted at the little cub. It might be fun to get into a “No, you are!” shouting match with him but the adult male was far more interesting at this point. And unfortunately, the first Umholi to arrive was not her older half-brother but Surtak, the newest and grumpiest Umholi of the pride. Thuli had more or less accepted him after Wodi’s cubs had been born but that didn’t mean she actually liked him.

“Wait!” she told the male, her voice joining the others who were defending the rogue. “He killed the crocodile and he used to be one of us. He still has sisters here. Just let him stay for bit so they can talk.” Thuli would like to think that if her brothers suddenly appeared before them, they wouldn’t simply be chased off without a word.

--------------------

Baie rose from the water’s edge and joined Buna’s side, brushing her niece reassuringly. It was clear some of the Abazingeli seemed to be forgetting the rules of the pride or simply choosing to ignore them in this case. She was relieved when Surtak moved forward and she left Buna’s side to stand being the Umholi in a obvious sign of support.

“We do not need his protection.” The orange lioness said curtly in response to the words that were being said around her. Honestly, their current Abaholi were more than enough! To allow an outsider to stay would be to announce that the pride’s males were too weak to defend the Abazingeli and the cubs. “Umholi Surtak, he was once one of us and I do not think he is a threat. I’m sure Nguvu was just leaving.” Her words had a note of appeasement but her eyes bore intensely into Nguvu at the end. “If he hasn’t formed his own pride yet and wishes to return, he is free to challenge our Abaholi once we have settled into the new territory. Just like any other male.” Nothing more, nothing less. Nguvu knew the rules better than any other rogue male so a few kind words were the only things he'd get out of Baie before she chased him off. Which hardly seemd necessary now that Surtak had arrived.

Ushari grew quiet and let the other females speak up now. In the presence of Surtak, or any Umholi for that matter, Ushari was timid and quiet. She knew it wasn't the best idea to speak up against him, even more so considering she was new to the pride and her thoughts on things still seemed insignificant, in her own mind anyways. She liked the idea of a male, who had family here, who was born a Bonelander, following them a bit. It was a bit of extra protection, and even if he tried anything funny, there were enough females here to chase him off. She understood how important family was and wanted to let this males sisters have some time to speak to him and see how he was doing-- if her own sister had been separated from her she would surely want to speak to her if ever they ran into each other out in the roguelands.

Surtak's sudden appearance and outburst startled Ainra who scuttled away, retreating further from the water and to where the anger was beginning to brew. She hated tension, especially amongst her new family. Why couldn't they just let the male go on his way? Why all the threats? Was it necessary?

She backed up a little further, knocking into someone as she did so, and hastily mumbled an apology, her posture low and submissive.

--

Su, however, could not help but grin a little. Surtak was doing what a male did best and despite his smaller stature he was making up for it with his dominant and fierce attitude. It was something to be admired and the red lioness could not help but be amazed at how a great number of lions outside of her homeland possessed such a strength of character. This must have been what her father, Kidondo, had seen all that time ago when he had gone out to search for his rebel army. After all, her mother was one of those who had shown him the truth.

"It is the Umholi's right to chase off other males, is it not?" She spoke at last, curling her tail. She rather wanted to see the fight, even if she was impressed by this new crocodile-slayer.

"A crocodile is a crocodile. A lion is another matter entirely." After all, the scaled beasts could hardly be considered smart, could they?

If Surtak heard his daughter, the reminder that she was there only made him growl louder. Rogues were dangerous; he'd seen some of the most dangerous recruited. Time away from home could change any lion.

"He won't be accompanying anyone," Surtak snapped towards Hari. The Umholi was up to his ears with dumb women.

Surtak took a step forwards, only to be stopped by a dark female. His eyes focused on her and he stilled. There was a long quiet as his eyes moved from her to the rogue male behind her. The sounds from his throat turned to a discontented rumble.

"This is your brother?" It didn't seem to impress the brown male. He'd known the rules. Now he was here again.

Eyes locked on Nguvu, Surtak began again. "If you wish to stay, stand over there." He jerked his head towards the distant side of the pond. A spot securely distant from the cubs and from the rest of the pride.

"We will decide what to do with you when Gakere arrives."

Ife had no idea what was going on. She was scare and unsure about everything that was happening. She meekly call out to her group but she could not see those two anywhere. She was so dumb for losing those two. How could she not have know where they have went off two. She was dumb and she knew it. She could never take good care of her self if it wasn't for those two. She call out again for them but it was so quite that most likely the two other female would not hear it. She done it again and got her self lost. She was shaking and was scare about what was going to happen to her. She hope they would find her.

"Well, a fight might have been interesting," Ora mused with a mischievous smile, but part of her was glad that, for the moment, the situation had resolved itself peacefully. When it came down to it, she knew it wouldn't have mattered to her which Umholi stood in the way if that had been Sekayi or Laini, and it wouldn't have mattered how much smaller she was than any lion around. She would have thrown herself into the fray and not stopped until she had beaten somebody black and blue.

The rules were rules, but they were dead things and didn't have emotions. Living creatures were something else entirely, and sometimes, rules needed to be bent.

Ora found herself being knocked sides as Ainra stumbled backward into her. The little lioness was forced to take a step, but thanked her size and low center of gravity when she managed not to fall. "Oh, don't worry about him," she said to the other lioness, giving a feisty little shake of her head. It took more than a snarl to scare Ora. It took quite a lot to shake her. "What's he going to do?"

[edited for Moon's post x3]

"Well...he is a bit...scary." She admitted after a moment, though grateful for the other female's fiestiness. It helped chase away her momentary nervousness. And then she gave a huge sigh of relief, glad that Surtak seemed tempered by the protests of some of the females. Even if he wasn't happy the poor stranger could rest easy knowing that he hadn't survived an attack from the crocs only to have his throat torn out by a lion.

And that was when she noticed Ife looking lost.

"Are you...okay?" She questioned softly.

--

Su smiled across at Surtak before getting back up onto her paws and heading down to the water. Her faithful snake companion followed in her shadow, hissing nervously all the while and watching her back as she lowered her head to drink.

She couldn't help but think what an interesting migration this had turned out to be.

The olivine colored lioness stayed silent and still, hidden in the middle of the females as she quietly watched Surtak and the rogue brother. For a short while she worried he would tear the male to pieces, but after one of the rogues sisters stood in the way, it seemed Surtak was willing to et him tag along, away from the cubs, until Gakere caught up.

At the very least it would give the rogue time to catch up with his sisters and talk for a short while. It seemed likely that the rogue would be chased off eventually though, unless he decided to challenge someone... or at least she thought she heard about something like that before, though it didn't matter. Ushari simply watched the events as they happened and remained silent. She didn't have a voice to speak up with in regards to something like this. She wasn't born a Bonelander, so she did not completely understand or appreciate all their customs-- though she always followed them.

When Surtak bid the outside male to just 'stand over there,' Ukuthula was disappointed, and she sighed unhappily. Time-outs were not exciting. Fighting was exciting! "I thought you were going to bite him," she said when her father had finished. "I wanted to help."

Really, she wanted a legitimate excuse to bite someone other than her siblings and not get in trouble for it - and even the bite-ability of her sisters and brother was rather limited, as Wodi disapproved of actual injury of one's family. The vast majority of the pride's lionesses were understandably less than thrilled to be nommed upon by tiny cub-teeth, as well.

---

Her tail flicking back and forth in the water and stirring up ripples, Wodi was perfectly happy to watch. That Surtak had been joined by one of their duaghters only added to her amusement, as she wasn't all that concerned for the cub's safety in this instance; if she had been, it would have been another matter entirely, but that was not the case at this particular moment, so she was content to enjoy the cuteness of little Thula attempting to be tough...something which was as pleasing as it was adorable.

No daughter of hers should ever be anything but fearless.

---

Oh, so the crocodile-killer was staying? Ukulambile hadn't really care either way, so this development was only of passing interest as she continued her efforts to get to some edible portion of the crocodile. It was proving to be significantly more work than she had anticipated, requiring her to tug off and spit out chunks of scaly outside before she could even hope to get a good bite of something tastier. Eventually, though, she'd cleared herself enough of an area that she could chew on some actual meat, and despite Mhisani's insistence that crocodile didn't taste very good, rather enjoyed it.

She hummed a little to herself as she munched away on her snack, finally pronouncing, "'s good. You should try some, mom!"

Rimma had felt distinctly that she was present for a family squabble, and that was not a comfortable or pleasant situation to be in. She studied her claws intently, grooming them carefully, then made sure no mud from the monkey encounter was stuck between her toes. That never felt good. She was just about to move away quietly, letting the lionesses alone now that an aggressive male was present. She might be tall at the shoulder, but she was no match for an angry male, even if he was a bit small. No, safety was a better option. This group didn't need her now anyway, not with him around.

However, she froze, paw in the air, when the croc-killer was told to go sit on her side of the pond. She stood in that pose as her mind whirled around what to do now. Firstly, was the male told to join her safe? Secondly, his presence was likely to draw attention to her being there, and that she herself did not belong either. Would the snarly male be just as angry at her for being here as he was at the other male? She didn't like to think about being the focus of such intense aggression. She shuddered her pelt and lowered her paw, crouching down low among the grasses edging the pond. Her black coat wasn't likely to blend much, however.

Baie was actually rather surprised that Surtak was willing to wait until Gakere arrived but she supposed that sort of concession made sense when it was directed at someone like Nguvu as long as the lion was kept at a distance. This way, his sisters could have a few quick words with him while they waited for Gakere. The outcome would most likely be same and Nguvu would end up leaving but at least he would leave on friendlier terms… that is, if Gakere didn’t decide to give him a beating before sending him on his way.

Whatever her feelings were, Surtak’s decision was absolute and Baie relaxed and moved to the water’s edge to drink again.

-----------------------

Thuli threw the little Surtak-spawn an annoyed glance – honestly, these cubs reminded her too much of herself at that age! - before her eyes returned to the cub’s father. She found his decision to be surprisingly reasonable which left the Luzisi speechless for once.

Now they just had to convince Gakere which would be no easy task and their blood relation would probably help very little when she tried to make a case for Nguvu staying for a bit longer. Thuli was certain Ora and some of the Abazingeli would also help convince the Umholi that there was no harm in keeping Nguvu around for a while.

Hari quickly mumbled "I'll be right back." to the cubs at her feet and rushed over to Hadharani and Nyesui. Touching her tail tip to Nyesui's shoulder to get the attention of the two lionesses, she quietly pulled them aside.

"I don't think you should get your hopes up, friends. I'm glad that Surtak has allowed Nguvu to stay for now, but you must understand that it's unlikely he's here to stay. I'd hate to see you get hurt, so just.... Just promise you won't get too excited about this, okay?"

She nervously flattened her ears and pawed at the ground. Hari knew that she wouldn't get the answer she wanted from her friends, and so she padded away before they had the chance to respond. It would give them more time with their brother anyways. She sullenly stalked over to Ora and plunked down with a sigh.

"Boy, are we ever going to get into trouble for this." She turned to look at Ora with a half-sincere smirk.

Nyesui nodded as Surtak's ruling. She was thankful that he had been willing to wait for Gakere to arrive before deciding what to do with Nguvu. "Thank you, Surtak." she bowed lightly to him before turning to her brother.

"Please, do as he asks," she whispered in Nguvu's ear and gave him a nuzzle to his ear before stepping back away from him a bit.

When she felt the tail tip of another lion brush against her should, Nyesui looked to see who it was and stepped over to speak with Hari. When she asked that Nyesui not get too excited about Surtak's current ruling on the rogue male, the black lioness nodded.

"I understand. I know it will be unlikely that he will be allowed to come with us, but it is nice to see him again anyway." she replied after a bit of consideration, "Though, it will be hard to say goodbye to him again, I will do it if I have to."

Now that they had all settled down, it didn't look like anything all too exciting would happen, at least until Gakere showed up. Ora nodded at both Ainra and Hari, returning the latter's smirk with her own shrug and grin. "They'll get over it," she said, referring to the Abaholi. They usually did, especially when the lionesses banded together to form a united front. There were, after all, a whole lot more of them than there were Abaholi.

It just figured. Something had to give in situations like these, and numbers tended to make quite a strong argument.

"At least now, they're all reunited for a little while," Ora added, nodding toward Nguvu and his two sisters. That alone was enough to make her glad, no matter what sort of consequences might come later. They could all deal with those if and when it was necessary, and for now, they could simply bask into the justice that had been done here.

-
Kayin, meanwhile, had wandered over to join the crowd again. He didn't know it yet, but he quite loved attention, and in the absence of attention directed toward him, being in the company of a big group was enough.

Now that the excitement of meeting the crocodile hunter had worn off, though, he was feeling a little bored and a little sleepy all over again. Padding over, he wormed his way into a cozy spot nestled right between Ora and Hari, and plopped himself down unceremoniously onto the ground. An unabashedly wide yawn and his drooping eyes said everything that needed to be said at that moment, but it didn't seem enough for him, and he managed to murmur, "I don't think we need to kill things..."

((Won't have internet access for the next three days, so I guess anyone interacting with Kayin and Ora right now should just assume they're tagging along with whatever happens XD))

Ife look around and saw the other female that was talking to her. She back away and the replied with a very soft voice "Y-yyes ...no...umm what? I don't know! I'm lost and my group...um i mean..well yes and no, maybe so, well no but some yes." She hope she did not confused the other lioness, because she just confused herself. There she go again not be able to take go care of her self and other having to come help her out, why could she do suff by her self...oh yeah because she never was very good about anything...
