Kaori sighed in her mind, this one was no fun. She smiled slightly and shook her head, "I suspect you know the answer already. Besides, I asked you, it's rude to answer a question with a question." She stood fully and handed the boy his headband,"Go, train. Make yourself stronger so that you can protect our village and it's people. I'm looking forward to seeing your growth." It was clear the boy didn't want to talk, not really. She looked over at Nova, they all had those they wanted to protect, and strength and cunning were merely small facets of ways to do just that. Once she had dismissed the boy she went back to her flowers, they needed a lot of attention here in the desert, but there was a massive water pond in the corner of the office that Nova had filled with chakra created water for her use, so it wasn't difficult to keep her oasis in top condition.

"For out of the ground we were taken, for the dust we are..."
"I do.." The boy said softly taking the headband and tucking it into his robe before bowing softly to the kage in thanks for her compliance. He turned and began to walk out of the office stopping at the door before half turning his head to her and speaking softly. "I cannot lose anyone else.." His words would be solemn and laced with despair as if Kaori had forced a pain to bubble up within himself. As soon as the words slipped from his lips he would open the door and exit not giving his kage time to address him wishing to not speak on the subject anymore.
He was off to find a place to train and to better himself.

Now that she was alone, Kaori walked over to a small circular area that was clear of flowers, but had soil and sand put down, her bare feet dug into the earth and she smiled slightly as she thought about a custom or two that she wanted to learn. She’d come up with these on her own, based off of jutsu from her clan. She smiled slightly as she sat, cross-legged on the dirt and closed her eyes. She inhaled as she thought about her chosen customs and focused on one diamond lotus she’d come up with. [1/8]
Kaori inhaled the scent of her flowers and meditated on all the emotions each one represented, and how so many flowers had so many different meanings if only the color was changed. Purity, envy, love, anger, curiosity, apathy and so many more. There was a never ending stream of thoughts in her mind on her flowers. And she had the perfect idea to bring them all together. [2/8]
Kaori summoned one of each of the gem-flowers of her clan around her and focused on one at the time. The Ruby Rose was the embodiment of affection and admiration. It could instill those feelings in anything and anyone, and was a building block for the jutsu she was working on. Anything already feeling the affection, would have it amplified, to the point of puppy-love or thinking they were feeling genuine love for someone. She would, and could, use that in her custom. [3/8]
She discarded the Ruby Rose for now and focused on the Amethyst Iris. The Iris represented and embodied hope and determination. Just like the rose, it could affect anyone and cause them to feel those same emotions. The jutsu she had in mind would use these as well, and would amplify them. Hope and determination were necessary for the shinobi, no one would be able to, or want to, accomplish anything if there was no hope. [4/8]
Kaori turned to the created Sapphire Snapdragon. Its sapphire color was indicative of its held emotions, sorrow and despair. While these were detrimental to her own shinobi, it would be useful against anyone trying to harm her shinobi. Despair and sorrow could be useful, if applied correctly. Taking the hope from her enemies, while that would make it far less entertaining, would be useful if she wanted to end a battle quickly. [5/8]
Kaori then turned to the Amber Azalea and focused on the emotions of joy and happiness. Often times people didn’t think this was useful for most things shinobi related, but they were wrong. Joy in a job well done, happiness in training completed well, or a new jutsu mastered, those feelings gave a rush that could be used to motivate shinobi. In her experience, sometimes the simplest of emotions had the biggest impact on a person. [6/8]
The tiger-tamer then looked at the Onyx Anemone. It was by far one of the more devastating gem-flowers of her clan, but it was useful none the less. This flower created, or amplified, the feelings of despair and a complete lack of all hope. This could drive a person insane, or to suicide, if used properly, or even improperly, so anyone from her clan with her doujutsu would, from the very beginning, be taught to wield this gem-flower with utter care. But she knew its uses, and planned to use them if needed. [7/8]
Now it was time to put her meditation to proper use, Kaori opened her eyes and focused on her hands, palms up in her lap. She focused all her knowledge of her clan’s jutsu into her chakra and slowly condensed it into her palms. Slowly, oh so slowly, a crystalline flower began to form and take shape, like a bud emerging to bloom. After several long moments, the flower, a crystal clear diamond lotus, took complete shape and landed softly in her hands. She smiled and stared at it. It would take a little bit, but she would be able to infuse whatever emotion she wished into the lotus, and it would stay there until used. Kaori decided then that it would stay on her desk. [8/8]

Iwao and Grym strolled into the Kage's tower, nodding to the guards as they passed, as the guards all knew him as the Kazekage's younger brother and her advisor. When they reached the office door, Iwai knocked on it twice, just to let Kaori know someone was coming in, then pushed the door open slowly, doing his best not to accidentally rip it off its hinges or something. Ducking slightly as he passed through the doorway, the two of them entered the office. Seeing his tiny older sister, Iwao laid down on one of the couches with most of his lower legs hanging over the arm, and chuckled as Grym went to the sunny window and flopped over next to Nova, shaking the room slightly due to his massive size. When everything settled again, Iwao spoke "How's it goin' Kay-chan? Nice little oasis you got in here.... though some of the hanging plants are a little low..." he chuckled as he rubbed his head. Being so tall meant he hit his head on stuff a lot, "Any new cubs come through for headbands?"
"Disturb my desert, and the desert itself will feast on your blood!"

Kaori stood, the diamond lotus still in hand, and smiled at her younger brother as she walked over to her desk and placed the lotus in one of the numerous bowls there, "There was one, a Satetsu user like yourself; according to his profile" Kaori grinned when Nova glared at Grym for disturbing her rest, but then just curled up with the giant bear and went right back to her cat-nap. Kaori touched the crystal petals of the lotus and thought about the emotions of curiosity, and the guilt needed to tell the truth. She smirked as she infused the lotus with these emotions. She would be able to use this in a flash if need be."Though I think he went to train immediately, so he might have learned all he can at his stage already. Perhaps he'll look into some of the missions and come to you for training."

When Kaori mentioned another satetsu user, Iwao perked up his head a bit, but laid back down when she said he had probably finished his training for now. Sighing, he said “Eager young cub, eh? Yea, maybe I’ll catch him when he reaches chuunin, have me a new student,…”
Thinking a bit, he came up with an idea, “Kay-chan, you got a map of the area around the village over there? I’ve got an idea to give us some major defenses, that’ll look totally natural…something to potentially keep enemies from even reaching our gates, or at least leave only one way in and out of the area that could easily be cut off if we were attacked and wanted to keep them from retreating.”
"Disturb my desert, and the desert itself will feast on your blood!"
Kaz was returning from an easy assignment. They were starting to learn that he worked better alone then with a squad of shinobi. Cleanup seemed to be his norm for missions anymore. Easy to handle, little questions needed answering, just get in and get out with the job done. Propping his spear onto his shoulders and using the ends to hold his hands up he walked towards the Kage's office. Taking one hand off of the spear to open the door he promptly rested it back where it was. Turning himself so that he could enter the doorway considering the width of the door would not support his weapon. Once inside he snapped the spear back to his side giving it a bit of a twirl before latching it to his back. "Kaz here, another simple job accomplished in the name of Sunagakure." Letting his eyes return to the rooms surroundings he felt the strange feeling that he could just speak as freely as he desired. "Hey big fellah, Some day ill be able to take ya. I've done some training since our last bout." Iwao and Kaz had spared several times in the past but he always came out on top, Kaz saw him as a bit of a rival or obstacle to overcome. Letting his eyes rest upon his leader the Kazekage he felt that same freedom. "Looking good as always babe. You have anything else I might be able to sink my teeth into? These mop up missions work up some sweat and cramps but thats really about it." Giving off a slight smirk while he spoke. He would have continued training but everything was currently at the limit. The final spear style he wished to learn required more mastery over the weapon.
When Kaz came strolling into the office, Iwao looked over at the smaller man when he said something about taking him one day, “Yea, sure, Kaz, I’ll be waiting for that day… but I wouldn’t hold my breath.” Chuckling a bit, he heard the chuunin start hitting on his sister and felt his protective nature kick in. Still lying down, he performed a couple quick hand signs and pulled sand from wherever her could around the office, making sure not to disturb Kaori’s plants, and formed a band of sand around Kaz’s ribcage. Slowly tightening the band, compressing it, Iwao spoke, a bit more seriously this time, “You know, Kaz, hitting on a man’s sister right in front of him is very rarely a good idea. And that’s not even taking into account that she’s the Kazekage, and you’re just a chuunin…so show her some respect.” He’d let the sand around Kaz’s chest continue to tighten, but make sure it didn’t get tight enough to cause real damage. He wanted to make a point, not kill the guy.

Kaori sighed at Kaz's words, then looked at her brother, "Easy Iwa, he was just under the influence of my new diamond lotus. It lowered his natural ability to keep certain thoughts to himself."She explained as she rummaged in her desk for the asked for map and passed it over to Iwao,"Here's your map, little brother."

Kaz quickly found himself bound around the chest with sand. Seeming like this was their idea of some sort of punishment. Considering he did nothing to merit such treatment his instincts took over. He never handled mistreatment well given his upbringing. Flailing arm breaking the complete restriction he heard the words of Iwao of how hitting on his sister was not a smart idea. This only angered him more to where he grabbed his spear from his back forced chakra to his legs and leaped up to the roof before spinning back down slamming the base of the spear onto the ground. Landing more towards the entrance of the door opposed to where he was standing. He was careful not to disturb the flowers with his repelling attack. He once stepped on flower entering the kages office. The pain he felt that day stayed in his mind even during this anger. The impact sent out a shock wave blasting the sand backwards towards the two. Taking a much more proper stance with his spear now pointed at the two standing on the other side of the room."Is this how you thank one of your most loyal shinobi!? Because I complimented your beautiful sister, as well as our Lady of Sunagakure? If you wish to spar me, simply say so." Returning his spear to his side he continued to speak. "You might win every time we have our bouts, But I am by no means that inferior to best me with a single sand jutsu."
Turning his back ready to exit the office. "If you have anything else for me I'll be at the dojo training. Or if you want to try to hurt me some more." With a quick wave over his head he exited the office.
When Kaz freaked out and started jumping around, waving his spear, Iwao sat up on the couch, “Whoa, chill out Kaz. If I were actually trying to hurt you, I would’ve called up a lot more sand, I was just making a point on the matter of respect. I appreciate your loyalty to the village, and I know my sister does, too.” He then watched as Kaz left the room. Standing, Iwao took the map from Kaori, “Thanks, sis, any enemies we might have should have a really hard time getting to us once I’m done with what I have in mind.” Walking over to the window, Iwao opened it and performed a few handsigns, pulling sand from the ground below up into a clump he could stand on right outside the window. “I’ll be on the roof for a bit if you need me, Kaori.” He then flew up higher on the sand clump until he could step off onto the roof of the building.
Once he was on the roof, Iwao unfurled the scroll and laid out the map. Pulling a brush and ink from his pack, he began drawing on the map. He started by painting a line around the village as if there was a huge drop of elevation, leaving only the main road away from the village untouched. Just outside of that line, he drew another, marking a large rise in elevation, a huge wrap-around earthen ridge hundred, if not thousands of feet high. Outside that ridge, right at the foot of it, he drew another drop in elevation like the one on the village’s side. This would leave the village with a high ridge surrounding it, with deep valleys in front of and behind the ridge, making approaching the village from any way other than the main road extremely difficult. Smiling slightly in satisfaction, Iwao put away his brush and ink before performing the handseals for one of his more powerful jutsu. Once he finished the series, he placed a hand on the map and looked around from his high vantage point. He saw the earthen ridge rise high in the distance, figuring that the valleys were sinking in just the same. Rolling the map up, he formed another sand clump and drifted back down to the window he’d gone through a few minutes ago.
Climbing back through the window, Iwao laid the map down on Kaori’s desk. “We have some new ‘natural’ defenses, Kay-chan. A high ridge, like a wall that dwarfs the actual walls of our village, with deep valley-like pits wrapping around both sides of the base of the ridge. As of now, the only unblocked path to and from the village is the main road from our gates.” Taking a breath, he added, “I’m gonna go out and add some more stuff to the defenses, care to come with and help? We could add some of your flowers around everything, maybe, and I’m gonna add some stuff with my iron sand and more doton jutsu.”

Kaori sighed once more when Kaz left the office, she hadn't meant for her diamond lotus to have that profound an affect on him in particular, he'd jusst walked in and put himself in the wrong place at the right time, as per usual with Kaz. Kaori turned and looked at Iwao when he came back into the office from the window he'd used moments before, "Yeah, I'll help you with the defenses, best to get that done while at peace than lack while at war, then perhaps we could swing by the dojo so I can apologize to Kaz, the lotus hadn't been meant for him after all."

Nodding, Iwao looked at his sister, “Yea, best to prepare the defenses during peace than try to build them during an attack. Let’s get to it, then, huh?” Looking over at the other window where the animals were rest, Iwao whistled quickly, “Hey Grym, let’s go buddy, got some fortifications to build and I could use some of your strength.” Grym lifted his massive head and grumbled, he was comfy and didn’t really want to move, but after a minute or so, he got back up and walked over by Iwao. Once the two of them were ready, they started for the door. (exit)

Kaori nodded and looked over at Nova, who was still lazing gin the sunlight, "You're not getting out of this Nova, let's go."Nova grumbled and growled, but got up and over to Kaori. The both of them then exited the office, but not before Kaori created a clone to preside over any visitors that may come in.

Kaori and Nova walked back into their office and Kaori smiled as she inhaled the scent of her little oasis. Being Kazekage maybe stressful a lot of the time, but the office was nice. She dispersed her clone and sat down at her desk, then watched as Nova took up her usual spot in the large window that let in a ton of natural light. "And, yet again, right back where we started, hm Nova?"Kaori went through the paperwork that had accumulated in her absence, filled it all out and then put it to the side. she then turned to her flowers once more.
