"Xiu~" She nodded, as if that explained everything, before turning to give Mitsu a hug, feeling genuinely happy for her friend that Shun had said yes. If anything, that piece of news had lightened the atmosphere as well, and she was grateful for that. As she let Mitsu go, she smiled, lowering her voice, "We should meet up to talk more. No gum-in-hair, no Shun. Just us two."
Then, turning to Mac, she grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the table, grabbing a lantern for him and for herself; while she had already lit several lanterns, those were 'for show'. An example for people to follow.
"Here you go," She handed one over to him, before leading the way over to the side of the lake.

Jericho just watched as Shehk sent off her lantern before lightly wrapping a wing around her as she leaned against him soon after. He didn't have anything else to say right now as he just watched the candles drift away over the water.

Sammy had arrived late.
Part of her didn't want to arrive at all. It was to be a happy farewell, full of good memories and happy moments. Instead it was just a painful aching spot in her chest. To remember the mindflayer she met during Christmas, to see that mindflayer so happy on the island of war again as she had been back then before dying.
It felt like a knife wound knowing how much closer they had started to become only to see her gone. She watched the others setting lanterns into the lake, it reminded her somewhat of laying their emblems at Red's skull.
It also reminded her of how royally pissed Riley was when she had held up Hellma's pin to try and win favor with the demoness. It had been a stupid idea, all to try and trade emblems and signs of trust. Now all she had was a diplomacy token strung around her neck with her mates matching token.
She moved past the lanterns squeezing her fist as purple flames licked around the edges of her fingers. A small black emblem with silver and blood stained tags appearing in her hands. Pulling back her arm she flung the pin as hard as she could landing it out among the lanterns before slumping down in the sand to watch the lanterns drift away.

It was a sad statement, and Calder nodded. "Yes. I'll pick them up later." He would have liked to point out that, maybe, at some point in the future, Malodore would need them again, but it seemed too soon. Too soon.
Instead, he looked off in the distance to another couple, knowing the boil but not the ghoul. "Seems in these quiet times, in nice weather like this, we still manage to get together and enjoy it despite it all. It makes me think of the river festivals back home." To which he looked to the lake, thinking, before frowning. He'd have to go home and deliver the news, and his heart twisted at the thought.
As he looked, he noticed Christof shuffle off and sit beside Amrita, and smiled. "He seems to be getting better." He said, either to himself or Malodore, and was glad that the Igor was seeking company in someone right now. He only hoped Amrita was fairing better as well, but considering they went for eyescream together, she seemed to be getting along alright.
Looking back, he smiled at Malodore. "The chimes do sound nice. It's nice to hear some noise around the campus again. Even all the students talking." Albeit it was a little hushed.
"The lake looks so inviting, but I know everyone would be a little miffed if I took a swim." He said, stretching his arms up above his head.

Christof's mouth tipped up behind his wound scarf, smiling weakly in exchange as he settled down, shoulder to shoulder with her as he turned the box in his hand, thinking it through. He sighed softly, shifting the the box open to pull out one of the small flinted sticks. Lanterns, burning in the gloom like fallen stars. But to what ends. What was the point? He braced himself, holding the matches out at arm's distance with a look of solemn, bitter defiance before striking one in a sharp motion, holding it out and ahead of them both.

"A festival, yes..." Malodore looked out over the water again too. The lanterns were more numerous now; they were beautiful. When Calder mentioned Christof, though, it turned its head to glance at the patchwork. " Si, a bit. I spoke with him a few days ago. It went... as well as can be expected, truly. I think Barth will be a good master. Perhaps, ah... not feeling as though he must split his loyalties will be good for him," it added, keeping its voice quiet so only Calder could hear.

" I would like that," Mitsu said in regards to Lizzy's offer. It had been a while since just the two of them got together. Now they certainly had a lot to talk about and possible something positive to focus on though she would have to discuss with Shun about a date. Considering how the reaper wanted to wait she was certain it wouldn't be soon though she still had no idea what all went into a wedding. The lycan was in for a surprise. " I hope you and the others will help me plan when the time comes to do so...I'm..not entirely sure what all needs to be done." Mitsu admitted.

Genora seemed to noticed that more students began to show up. She felt out of place, but didn't want to leave just yet. She saw the undead girl from that day at the lake. She waved lightly to her with a somewhat sad grin, "Hey there, Sammy right?" She asked as she moved towards the ghoul. She wanted to comfort someone, even if she didn't know the mindflyer.

Amrita watched him prepare to strike the match, feeling her entire body tense just knowing what was to come. As it came to life she leaned further against him, pressing her shoulder tight against his; he was her rock, the only thing keeping her from running away, or blowing out the fire. He lit it for her, he was staying with her, and the least she could do was return the favour.
She picked the candle up, leaning forward just enough to light it, and carefully fit it back into the lotus lantern on her lap, her motions slow and uneven as she tried to not panic. Once it was set she merely held onto it, resting it idly on her knees.
"Thanks." The smile she gave was a little more sure, though she only looked at him in glances; he would have had all her attention, had it not been for the little fire on her lap. "...Have you sent one out yet?" She didn't know how long he'd been there, nor had she really paid attention to those around her, considering the focus she had with the matches.

Christof grunted, shaking his head as he shook out the match. It was only when he lifted his hands to sign, "What-are-the-lanterns-for," did he notice his arm on fire. With a strangled noise, he stop, dropped and rolled as it spread up his arm.

...!
Amrita noticed the fire long before Christof did, and she quickly and immediately stopped leaning against him pretty much the moment she saw it where it shouldn't be.
askjghakjgha WHAT SHOULD SHE DO?! hajkdhga Where should she start fire oh god fire SOMEONE HELP! Oh, wait, she was someone! Sort of. She could help him! Uh! First, put down the candle. Okay, now...
And then she tried to push him into the lake.

He returned to looking at the lake, and Amrita and Christof beside it. "Yes......I think that at least having on master will help." He felt that was funny considering how he once was and smiled. "He really did love her though." And Calder felt no reason to hide saying this about Christof to Malodore, if the Plague Doctor caught on to the real meaning of his statement or not. "....but I think he has another ghoul in his life to help him cope." To which he smiled and looked at Malodore before glancing back at Amrita, passing on the meaning - or so he hoped.
Then Christof was rolling and Amrita was shoving him into the lake. "Well......I at least hope she's helping."

With a yelp and a splash, Christof was in the lake, giving the little lantern boats a nice little wave to glide on.
The important thing was the fire was out.

Calder's glance would likely result in an eyeful of said Undead pushing a flaming Igor into the lake. Because that was incredibly romantic and entirely what Calder had in mind when it came to helping him cope. Well, technically...it was coping. Coping with being on fire. See? She was helpful. Super helpful.
It took a couple moments of stunned stillness for her to realize that Christof was in fact in the lake and that the fire was indeed put out, but when she did she couldn't help the amused snort, or the little trail of giggles that followed, though she did her best to bite them back.
"A-are you okay?" Amrita giggled out as she slid to the edge of the water, leaning forward enough to try and help him out...or at least make sure he didn't hurt himself somehow.

Christof flailed in the water before finally sitting up, looking wet and miserable, his face crimson in patches behind his scarf as he accepted her help in getting up. With a miserable whine in his throat and a nod, he glanced around in hopes no one had seen that.
