What's the line between ground mecha and others nowadays? Considering most mecha actually used in RPs are convertible, are we mostly talking about NPC mecha?
Which makes me think of something else: Are we standardizing the mecha used in the new GA/ASDF/GN? Like, everyone uses something Robotechy in the ASDF, as opposed to individuals piloting their own machines?

Saoszuc What's the line between ground mecha and others nowadays? Considering most mecha actually used in RPs are convertible, are we mostly talking about NPC mecha? This is actually why I didn't wanna draw a line between ground and other mecha. It's soooo gray-area now sweatdrop Saoszuc Which makes me think of something else: Are we standardizing the mecha used in the new GA/ASDF/GN? Like, everyone uses something Robotechy in the ASDF, as opposed to individuals piloting their own machines? Ack please no biggrin Though perhaps we could have 3-mecha squadrons based on each theme (A Shouji Kawamori squadron, a gundam squadron, a Btech squadron, etc)

*snickers* as much as I agree against standardization, Id love to waste my time trying to design a modular mecha for the Armed Services.... mmm.. modular

Jason A. Delacroix *snickers* as much as I agree against standardization, Id love to waste my time trying to design a modular mecha for the Armed Services.... mmm.. modular See, this is my first love about standardization: design.Of course, if we standardize, then we lose a lot of the individual flavor. At the same time, we lose compatibility issues, as well as ownership concerns. But then we have the problem of everyone having to basically learn a new system. But if we went with individual mecha, then everyone has to learn everyone else's systems. Not necessarily. Just have a benchmark thread - everyone posts their mecha compared to a baseline, which gives everyone something to go by in their own posts. You're talking about a lot of reading for a bullshit forum RP, y0.Jason A. Delacroix, y0.Point.EDIT: I'm all set to post character profiles - one "good guy", one "bad guy" - if I can have the following questions answered for real: Are we scrapping the histories of the disparate armed forces and sort of starting anew, or is the new RP an extension of the old? (In other words, if this were a Marvel comic, would the current run be Ultimate X-Men?) If I were to sign onto the ASDF as a primary antagonist / secondary protagonist, who would be willing to sign on as a primary protag / secondary antag?

I believe we should just RP the merge between the forces, and definetely we should not scrap what we have done
AS for teh second question, I believe I can be a primary protag/secondary antag, I have some experience playing villians

lol Sao, of two minds of the subject I see. 3nodding Regarding the benchmark...there is a game series out in Japan called Super Robot Wars. Basically, it's a Tactics style RPG in which almost every mecha Japan has ever produced takes on or works with every other mecha Japan has ever produced. sweatdrop There are videos of this game on youtube.com and I believe that with some small adjustment, we can import the data from the damage numbers in those videos to a benchmark thread.
I semi-agree with Griffin. We should keep the histories. But rather than RP the merge, I'd go with a 'six months later'. We close off the existing threads, lock them, and open up a new thread, which takes place several months after the last post in the old thread. We don't even have to say how long exactly that skip was. During the skip, the GNG was established, ranks were reorganized, and resources were remodeled to effectively counter the three new threats.

Under appreciated detail for t3h win!
Standardization will decrease logistic concerns wihin the entire armed force... the issue being... when the fluck have we EVER cared about logisitcs?
Standardization would increase our ability to increase the overall firepower of the group, though it would decrease the overall individual firepower... this could be thrown to the side in the light of personal opinion.
Really its back and forth Id say for NPC's and New recruits standardization is a plus, with officers being oopen to purchase or commishiont ehir own vehciles and whatnot mecha or not. Really though I dont see it as a major issue, it can be set aside for now.

I put my vote behind the "lock threads / timeskip" Eileen mentioned, as well as the idea of standardization with the option to customize with rank that JAD mentioned.
I'm down with using a Super Robot Wars sort of base - but who's going to be the one to extrapolate those numbers? sweatdrop

wooo... look who is sneaking around, hi ken we miss you... how is my old friend Yakima? xd
So if I get this right, you mea we will standarize all forces below officer rank, and the officers will have their own custom mecha-fighter-whatever..
I agree with that 3nodding

V.H. Griffin Chan wooo... look who is sneaking around, hi ken we miss you... how is my old friend Yakima? xd She's doing fine, probably tossing darts at your picture as we speak. Hopefully, the combination of troublesome RL issues and online burnout have been put away and locked in the past, thus the return to GAIA.

Really good to have you back Ken, but if you're recovering from burnout, please don't push yourself. At your own pace. biggrin
@Sao & Jason - I'll agree with the standardization with custom mecha at rank also...and so far, we only need to compare data on Macross / Gundam I think... Btech isn't a japanese mecha thing in origin so it's not in SRW. The Aquarion Vectors I wanna run will likely be adjusted to be within that power level range too.

XD (sorry, it's late, and I'm hyper) Also, I've cared for logistics the moment I opened the GMC/PDN mid 2004. Montgolfier class Ship Tenders FTW!!! Standardization has always been an issue,e specially with the now prophesized battle of which mecha to use. Aquarion, my favorite, the MUrasame, or the older, but very reliable VF series?
