"No spirits or phantoms reside here," quips Shallott, an almost-smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Simply the truths, spoken through would-be students."

"But these are wise words you speak," admits Babylon, with a somewhat begrudging tone and a nod towards Camelot. "Perhaps you may yet earn those names you decorate yourselves with."

"This place is indeed of the Knights," nods Ryugu-jo, wearing a broad grin. "It is built from our ideals... Our missions..."

"How we perform our duties..." continues Camelot, "...and even the lessons we have learned over the years..."

"But all that remains of it is that desire to protect and serve," Esquiline finishes, with a bow of her head. "The foundation."

"So what shall we do with this?" inquires Annwn. "Rebuild? Build anew, even?"

"It may be difficult," warns Celsus. "It may even be impossible. But greater strength against Chaos may await, if we try."

A shiver went down Caelian's spine as all of her fellow pages, Squires and Knights spoke such things. True, she hadn't yet heard about any 'Wonder' that she would have to visit...she supposed her 'Wonder' was her...namesake, right? The other Venus knight soothed her for some unknown reason, and the fact that even Camelot, who Caelian took to have the most experience out of everyone, admitted that he wished he had a manual...

She had to keep on learning. Was that why they were here? To see one another, to learn how to work as a team...to end the separation?

Being brought here had made Caelian feel very much less alone, she really had no idea that there were so many other knights roaming around, and she couldn't help but wonder if there were even more that hadn't been called to this place...this room...this...shrine?

It was almost too much to really wrap one's mind around.

Esquiline squeaked and pressed her hand to her mouth, eyes wide. She was a puppet! After the room went quiet again, she carefully peeled her fingers from her lips, looking down at her nose as if to double check that she wasn't about to spout off randomly.

"Maybe whatever is residing here wants us to fix this place back up." she said with a nod in Camelot's direction, agreeing with the older Knight. Her hands wrapped around themselves, twisting and turning. "Though how we are to do that, I haven't the faintest." There didn't seem to be any tools laying around, or materials to fix the... nonexistent ceiling.

"Or maybe" she went on to say, words swirling around in her head. "Maybe we are all supposed to be here to make a team. Like the senshi have. Maybe they have had a similar experience that brought them into teams."

Esquiline quieted down, dropping her eyes while gazing through her lashes. She dearly wished that she knew more about being a Knight.

Mont Blonc furrowed his brows and his bottom lip jutted out ever so slightly as he put on his 'thinking face.'

"I don't think whatever it is means literally fixing this place up. I dunno why but...but I think maybe it was some sort of metaphor? Or simile? I...I get the two mixed up. but like....I dunno."

Indeed, he wasn't even sure what he was really trying to get at. It was a nagging feeling to not be able to put in to words what he could see so clearly in his mind.

"Like...our principles? What i means to be a knight or whatever? Obviously we don't automatically know all of that when we become one - heh, just look at me," he held his arms out and shrugged, before placing them back in his lap. "So maybe that's what we've forgotten? Although I don't know how you can forget something you never knew in the first place... ummmm. Oh, ignore me. I'm...probably sounding really stupid right now..." Mont Blonc bit his lip.

Eliza's eyes went from person to person as they spoke, her curiosity growing with each statement given. She still wasn't entirely sure what all this meant, but she did know one thing. If they had a foundation laid then they could definitely build upon it.

She looked to Celsus as he spoke with a smile, she gave a quick nod at the words. "I don't mind if it is really difficult. If it will give us greater strength than I am willing to try. You can't get anywhere if you don't try."

She sat back and quieted once more waiting to see what else would be revealed. It was extremely intriguing, her curiosity only grew more as time ticked by.

Shalott's eyes widened the minute she finished speaking as whatever it was that possessed her (be it insight or something else) left as fleetingly as it came. If it wasn't spirits and phantoms as she said then what the ******** was it? She was not, however, satisfied by the cryptic answers of the powers that be or whatever the hell they were. In fact, she was getting upset by all this dancing around whatever insight the stupid ancestors or whatever wanted to provide. As the insight traveled from person to person she simply couldn't stay silent.

"So what's the point?" she demanded, unable to control the impulse and exhibiting the impatience she was a bit famous for. "It's all well and good to keep telling us we don't know how to do our jobs and it's not like we're gonna just magically know so why not come out and tell us what we're missing instead of continually dancing around it with cryptic nonsense. Obviously we've got something right or we wouldn't be knights at all. If the rest of it is so important than let us in on it!"

She hated people like that. It reminded her of other teachers at Crystal who spent more time telling the child they're wrong than the ways they can correct the situation. Get to a point already or let her go home to her daughter! She thought she'd been more than understanding about this. Admittedly she could have gone to her wonder by now but she was knew to this whole thing. She was learning, quickly she thought considering this whole thing, and was doing the best she could.

"All I want is peace, like Camelot. Like most of you, I'd hope. I protect those that get caught in the crossfire but why are we fighting for something that happened eons ago? Why are any of us? Whatever started it originally is bound to have been distorted and altered by now until we don't know what's true and what's not anymore. We may be fighting for a lie in the end for all we know."

She was still convinced she was on the "good" side of the equation but she was still also convinced that whatever started this war, this mess, had died out with the original participants. Like a family feud anything remaining was distorted over time until no one knew what they were fighting for. Someone just told them this was how things always were and would be and the others followed.

Finn listened, but elected to keep his mouth shut from here on in. He thought he'd been right on the money talking about past lives and wonders, but the dismissive reception had shown him that no one gave nearly as much of a ******** about what their ancestral territories could teach them as he did.

He had his own suspicions about the words that were emerging from their mouths unbidden, but bringing them up he felt would just get them sassed at. The semi-condescension Finn's own lips had uttered towards Camelot certainly didn't reflect any of his own feelings towards the older knight (he still recalled their first meeting and bore him nothing but respect) - but he could think of someone who would have been dismissive of the man's nobility.

Finn's opinion was that everything here was pushing them towards needing to know more about their history. But he'd already brought that up and gotten sassed at by the white-haired pretty boy across the table from him, and that made him less than enthusiastic to try saying so again.

Instead, he stared dully at Shalott while she appealed to the room for answers. That might help, he thought, since the location already seemed so keen on speaking for them - but then, he'd be jealous if there were any ancestors who were more forthcoming than his own. Practically everything Finn knew about the knights of Babylon he'd had to force out of Menachem a sentence at a time.

However, it was her complaint that they had no way of knowing about the past that made the squire finally sit back up in his chair. "With risk of sounding like a broken record," said the boy, picking up as soon as Shalott trailed off, "The past isn't completely sealed off from us. You say your oath, you go to your wonder, you see things. Maybe learn something useful. I mean, I still don't know how this all started, but I'm sure I'm a lot closer to finding out than those of you who haven't even bothered to go."

Honestly, the more people indicated that they'd never gone or just didn't give a ********, the more worried he got.

Amarilla gave Mont Blonc a reassuring smile, saying I don't think you sounded stupid. The Venus Knight crossed her arms and bristled, looking at Finn next. She didn't like feeling inadequate. She liked it less when it was coupled with the fact that she couldn't help the thing that made her feel inadequate. She didn't sneer or snap, but responded with carefully controlled anger. Only her eyes gave away her irked pride.

"Haven't bothered to go? I didn't even know that my Wonder existed until just now. I would like to think that these...people using us as puppets would be trying to bring us together, not alienate those who haven't been to their Wonder yet."

"I want people to be responsible for their owns lives." she added, casting her brown eyes around at the others present "But since that apparently can't be helped, then I want peace. Then I don't have to look out for everyone in the city."

Ryugu-jo sat in his seat, a little dazed. The stirring in him to speak words that were not his own left a curious feeling and Ryugu wasn't ready to come out of it yet, even if it had vanished and left moments ago. The same broad grin was left on his face, crossing his arms behind his head. So this place was built for the knights .. ideals and missions. Hm.

This discussion .. Ryugu had tried to ignore it but their words bouncing across each other on the table ..

"They asked us if we wanted to rebuild it anew, right? Your past is only truth and lies if you take it to be. This whole wonder thing you're stuck on, it's only bits and pieces. Not that it's not important or relevant but if these higher guys up there somewhere are saying we're missing pieces, it might be safe to say that the wonders isn't one of those missing pieces."

Ryugu didn't exactly react well to Finn's implications either. Throwing it out there, at everyone, like that wasn't the best way to go.

"Haven't bothered? Well, have you considered that you know, time constraints or lack of knowledge might be part of this whole new knight thing? Oh yeah, people just haven't bothered because you know, it's not half their life they never knew they had. Sweet, being a little ahead of the game means that you're a mile ahead, right?"

"Well, not to hit your buzzer there," Shalott began as she looked at Finn, "but you seem to have been to your wonder and spoken to your ancestors and yet you're still in the remedial class with the rest of us."

That solved that in her mind and she looked back around the room. The fact of the matter was that these spirits or what have you seemed to agree with her boyfriend more than whatever it was that Finn said. Or, at least, acknowledged the wisdom in his approach. And yet no one was coming out with an answer. Whatever the past had to teach them it came at its own pace like their item. She didn't awaken until late last year because she wasn't ready to. She refused to believe that made her less of a knight or less able than anyone else in the room.

"I just want the war to stop. There's no point to it anymore. Maybe it started for a good reason once upon a time but it's changed now and the people poisoned by chaos...it's just going to get worse."

Though she fully knew what she wanted was a pipe dream. Unless both sides agreed unequivocally to stop all action against civilians or the other side it would never really end and would be restarted over little things if they occurred. It was an unbelievably horrible situation.

"I think you," She nodded to Amarilla, "have the right idea. We can't expect people to suddenly just change or wake up so we just have to strive for peace ourselves and hope our example wears on others. It's what Camelot does."

Which was, in essence, what he had been doing all along. Except when he was very upset and breaking ribs on her behalf.

"Camelot," he corrected Shalott, quietly so as not to attract the attention of other who hadn't noticed the name slip. But... he was not impressed by her suddenly holier-than-thou attitude towards their confusing situation, and not at all happy about how she was blurting out Tony's civilian identity to everyone else there. While Valhalla was typically more than happy to offer his own identity to others, he found it extremely rude to just throw identities around without the other's permission. Yes, they were all knights, but he had a feeling he didn't want a couple of his 'allies' knowing anything about the other half of his life.

She obviously knew Tony, but that didn't mean it was appropriate for her to let everyone know that Camelot was really Tony, whether or not they knew exactly who Tony was. A name was enough to be dangerous, in his opinion. Chris wouldn't have wanted anyone, even his friends and allies, throwing around his own name. He'd rather make the choice to reveal himself on his own.

(Nevermind.)

Valhalla was frowning, but it was more passive than hostile. He didn't want this to get out of hand more than it already was, so he spoke as neutral sided as possible.

"And back off Babylon, please," he asked both Shalott and Ryugu-jo, trying to ignore the fact that an actual defense of the squire in question was coming from his mouth, when only a few months ago he'd punched the kid in the face for no reason other than because he felt like it. "He's just trying to help. Obviously not everyone here even knows about their Wonders. Some barely even know what it is like to be a knight," he said, gesturing to Mont Blonc with a small nod. He understood how it was like to be new and not know what was going on, but this was starting to get ridiculous.

"And of course we all want peace," he repeated, since the first couple of times the others had said their desires for the future hadn't really sunk in with others, which was why everyone was just repeating themselves while they waited for these spirits or whatever to speak through them some more.

"We're all new... Senshi have been around for a few years already, but we only started showing up early last year," he said, remembering a couple conversations both with Sailor Maia and Zia... or Zirconia... whoever had been talking at the time...

Mary's hands slowly left her ears and she sat up straighter, her lilac eyes looking around the room. No one had noticed her. That was either a blessing or a curse. Her eyes settled on those who were, in her opinion, being whiny brats. Eyes flicked over Shalott and Ryugu-jo, and others who ganged up against the Squire of Babylon. The young teen blinked a few times before standing up.

That had to be it.

"...Don't you think, that this is why we've become unable to remember our own duties, and this place? Not ancestors who don't tell you anything to begin with, Wonders that might scare you or not live up to your expectations? This... infighting and sounding like four year olds who think its too much work to pick up their blocks." She glanced around, as it seemed no one else was going to try to stop the argument, and held her head a little higher. And maybe that was the problem here. They had no 'leader' among them, to keep the group on track. Well fine, she'd take the risk and try to stop it herself.

"There is a duty we have forgotten and I believe it requires us to stop bickering like children to figure out what it is. Obvious the Squire of Babylon has been at this a far longer time than most of us, but that does not give him leave to b***h to those who are new to this about not going to our Wonders." She gave a pointed look at Babylon.

"Just as its not right to completely ignore our Wonders and those of the past. You can fight against Chaos all you want, but if you don't know the reason you are you will just fight the same fight over and over again." The look was given to Shalott this time. Even though the woman was much older than she, Mary couldn't really care. The young girl had had enough of the whining she seemed to be hearing.

"So. Let's stop squabbling like birds over a seed, and figure out what we do."

Valhalla blinked in surprise when one of the Chronos knights stood to her feet to start scolding them all on how they were behaving (as if she was one to talk... she looked like she was one of the younger ones there).

The squire of Jupiter slowly raised a hand to his face to rub at his temples. Maybe he was just... invisible... Or perhaps he mumbled? Either way, this was going to be a long night...

—————————————————————

"Huh," Sessrumnir let out a breath, still attempting to get comfortable while leaning on the table. "Let's see a show of hands; who knows how to debate properly without feeling the need to throw in petty insults and make pointless analogies...?" he asked out loud, amused by the over-dramatization, although he doubted there to be any response. While all this nagging and jumping at each other was entertaining, it certainly wasn't resulting in any kind of useful answers or agreements.

"Sit down," he suggested to Mary, lifting a hand to make a half-hearted motion as if to dismiss her. "Babylon's a big boy. He can take care of himself," he said with a shrug, glancing first to the page of Chronos, before turning his head towards his fellow Jupiter knight. There really was no need for fussing at Babylon, just as he saw no reason to fuss at everyone else for voicing their opinions.

"That being said. It's a little difficult to figure out what to do when most of us are having, uh, other people talk through us," he said, shifting in his chair to sit back up. His hands were placed in front of him on the table, fingers laced together in what he would consider his 'professor' mode. Although, teaching high school hardly made him qualified to be a professor. "You may fancy yourself a bold, demanding risk taker, young lady, but that's not going to promote teamwork and equality among us knights, and I highly doubt it'll inspire these voices to continue saying strange things when we're all talking. So take a seat, because if you hadn't noticed," he said with a cheerful grin towards Mary, "The strange voices didn't start until we were all seated. You might be breaking the flow and we'll be stuck here forever." Which would suck, because he had to teach a class in the morning.

"Similes are comparisons using 'like' or 'as', so what you were referring to would have been a metaphor, which is also a comparison but more of a symbolic representation," he explained with a grin towards Mont Blonc. He told himself that it was the teacher in him that felt the need to make sure the younger generation understood the things that confused them.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 02, 2012 7:22 pm

Sessrumnir's sensible manner did little to calm the agitation in the room, although the effort was noticed and appreciated by Ryugu-jo. At the current rate the knights were going, Ryugu didn't think anything would promote much of the so-called teamwork and answers that they strived for. Especially insinuating that the table was filled with a bunch of 'four-year olds' as she put it. Great way to put herself out there, Sedna remarked with a sigh.

He was seated once more but with his face flat on the tale now.
Most of the agitation had left now, scratching the back of his head. He made his opinion clear, he didn't feel the need to convince the others. Meanwhile, he was left to mull in relative silence.

Considering this party, silence was a very far term.

Start something new .. huh ..

Lian had opted to stay quiet for the majority of the discussion, even when some of the participants appeared to be possessed by spirits of some sort. Instead, he leaned forward, elbows on the table and his fingers folded together. Someone at the table mentioned something about ‘Wonders,’ causing the man to turn his attention to him despite the silent confusion that swam in his eyes. Wonders? He had never realized such a thing existed, but the myths had said that Aeolia was the name of a floating castle. That certainly seemed like a Wonder. However, he still couldn’t see the merit in visiting a Wonder. So what if Lian ended up being a descendant too? Whoop-dee-doo.

Sighing, he closed his eyes and rubbed his temple as the discussion gradually turned into bickering. Nothing useful was being done. People had offered ideas and opinions, sure, but that seemed to be it. He nodded at Mary. “I agree. How about we take a vote on what to do next? I would like to know about this place and these “lesson” they’ve learned.” Lian offhandedly waved toward the room. “Place of knights, was it?”
