Totally bummed since I got the night off without any notice, so I'm left alone awake and sober all night. Not the way to celebrate my pagan holiday :<

Well, the most famous ghost of my campus is Condie Cunningham.
In 1908, Montevallo was an all girl's school (I believe it was called Alabama Girls’ Industrial School, or AGIS) and in attendance was a girl named Condie Cunningham. She lived on the fourth floor of Main Residence Hall.
One night, February 4th, to be exact, Condie and her friends were making hot chocolate (or brownies, or fudge. Something like that) on a burner. Of course, it was (and still is) against the rules to do that. There was a knock at the door, and of course, the girls knowing that they shouldn't have been doing what they were doing, tried to put out the fire quickly and Condie stood, accidentally spilling alcohol on her long nightgown and then causing the burner to fall over and catching her on fire.
Now, of course, the smart thing to do at this point is to stop, drop, and roll. But being 1908, that knowledge wasn't exactly wide-spread, and Condie wasn't exactly thinking. She began running down the hallway screaming. Since it was after hours, (after 9 p.m.) the girls weren't allowed out of their rooms (making the fact that Condie had people in her room even more against the rules) so no one left their rooms to help her. (Seriously, the punishments for disobeying the rules back then was extremely harsh. The University won't even tell us what it was.)
Condie continued running around the building until she finally collapsed. She died in her own dorm room two days later.
The story would end here, if she had left. But of course, she didn't. At night, you can hear footsteps slamming down the hallway, but when you open your door, no one will be there. At least, if you're lucky. Sometimes, you'll see a firey figure running. Condie particularly likes hanging out in the showers (causing many of the girls in Main to believe she was a lesbian. Just saying.) and screaming at the top of her lungs.
Apparently, a few years after her death, a girl who lived in her old room heard the footsteps outside in the hall and she opened the door to see the firey figure. She, of course, closed the door and turned and faced her bed, only to realize it was on fire. The girl left the university the next day, never to return.
Now, the door to Condie's room is also a celebrity and is taken out every year around Halloween. In the wood grain of the door, you can see a face on fire. Of course, this upset many of the girls and the door was replaced, but to no avail. Each door that was put in, the same thing would happen. Eventually it was replaced with a metal door. Of course, when the face appeared on the metal door, they painted over it.
Condie likes to set off the fire alarm. A lot. She also enjoys resetting all electronics. No alarm clocks are reliable in Main. One of my friends had an alarm clock that, no matter what, she couldn't get it work here in Main. She had it work at her home for months before, and it worked as soon as she moved out of Main. But never while in Main. Seriously, the alarm clock thing is so bad that about three years before I came to the university, a full pardon was given to girls who lived here and were late for class because Condie had turned off ALL the alarm clocks in Main.
Condie also LOVES opening doors and slamming them closed.
If you wanna know about any more of our ghosts, just let me know.

Inu that is amazing o___o Living in a genuine haunted building!! Homg. Like TRG said... HOW DO YOU SLEEP?!?! XDD Let's see if I have any more stories... none as amazing as that, of course. Hmm the boarders at the school where my granddad used to be farm bailiff always said that the place was haunted by a White Lady ghost, but he never saw anything himself. It was probably just the kids trying to scare each other. Now, at the place where I very nearly went to work - the local Carew Castle - there are said to be quite a few ghosts around. My drama teacher used to work for them writing scripts and plays for their educational department, and more than once she dressed up as their most famous ghost, the ghost of Princess Nest, to lurk around in the entrance tower after the end of their Hallowe'en plays XD Sometimes one or two people caught a glimpse and freaked, but most of the time she or another actor would just stand up there in the cold in a flimsy white dress for an hour or more and nobody even noticed, ROFL My FAVOURITE story that always creeps me out is one about a pet ape that this cruel lord had in the 18th century. The version of the story I know goes that the ape was very badly mistreated, starved, beaten, the lot, all for his master's amusement. They lived together in the Northwest tower, where the lord hosted lavish parties and drunk himself into a stupor most nights. Then one night, when it was dark and storms thundered across the land and the lake broke its bounds and beat against the castle walls, a man came to see him. He complained that the cruel lord's son had forced entry into his home and brutally raped his daughter. The lord responded by releasing his ape from its chains and goading it into savaging the man half to death. The man escaped with his life when the ape turned suddenly in all its vicious hate upon its own horrid master. The cruel lord and his ill-gotten animal were locked in combat. The last his servants saw of their master - and the ape - was the pair of them fighting for their lives in a pool of blood, the lord with a lighted torch in his hand that set fire to everything it touched. The northwest tower was quickly set ablaze. Everybody fled. In the morning, they recovered the remains of the cruel lord - but the ape was nowhere to be found. It's said that the shadow of the ape continues to haunt the castle to this day: sometimes in the northwest tower you can hear the shaking of chains, animalistic shrieking, or smell the remnants of smoke. The scariest sighting I've heard of, though, is from the grounds down below. A girl once fainted with terror at the sight of a baleful, black beast glaring down at her from the tower... and her party hadn't even been told the ghost stories... ABLAGEHDG my phone suddenly beeped with a text at the moment I was typing the last part of that >O< omgg. I've been in the tower myself and seen it from the grounds, so the story just freaks me out. Every time I look up at the windows I expect to see eyes staring back at me, so I just avoid looking at it! The place with the weirdest presence on the castle grounds isn't it, though. It's this one enclosed area off to the side where visitors aren't normally taken. I don't know what the hell the deal with it is, if it has a name or what it was even used for, but it has the strangest feel to it. It has no roof, but the way it's positioned, the light of the sun never reaches inside. My teacher said she always gets freaked out in there, too. @Odin .....omg. rofl rofl rofl rofl Odins_Apprentice_Kray Indeed! xD I also know a lot of people without actually being personally introduced to them >w<;; which is sorta good for avoiding potential awkwardness when you do actually meet. BUT I BET IT DOES BREED SITUATIONS LIKE THIS:

@Inu: O______O Sounds like a RL horror movie! XD
@Odin and Lorika: That's actually how I started talking to this one girl on Deviant. I read one of her stories while I was lurking and it was so cool, and I decided once I got an account I was going to talk to her. So lurking actually got me a new acquaintance! =D
By the way Odin, I love that picture! xd
I've missed RPing too..=< Lorika, you can tell right? rofl

I'm assuming you got a night off from work, right? And since it was without notice, wouldn't that be a nice surprise? =o

At the beginning of the month, I was under the assumption that I would have plans for the night, regardless if I was scheduled to work. The other Fellow on graveyard shift said he'd be perfectly fine taking it, just to let him know that plans had been finalized. Mine went through, much to my dismay, so I was kind of looking forward to being in costume all night at work :/ and I didn't really stay in the loop, so he talked to the boss after the schedule for the week was printed, and they were under the assumption that I knew that I didn't have to work. Blaaah.

@Rocket and Lorika: I actually live in the part of the building that was only finished/open for living after her death. It was finished about a month after her death, actually. She doesn't completely stay away from East Main, but she doesn't prefer it as much. Besides which, I moved down to the first floor, and she definitely prefers the higher levels. On occasion, I do my laundry right by her old room. It's kinda freaky...but there's other ghosts on campus that are nicer. Or at least, nicer to females.
@Storm: I'm sorry. sad That sucks. You just don't have good luck...
