Still looking at where they thought the creature was cowering in the bushes, the sudden sounds behind them had Cepheith whirling around (cautious of not knocking her rider over) with an angry snarl. She did not like these shadow games anymore! This creature had managed to sneak around behind them without anyone noticing. I believe it heads back towards the Weyr, Narisamine. Quickly. If we wish to follow, we must move fast. And Cepheith definitely wanted to follow it. If only to see with her own draconic eyes just what they had been following after this whole time.

Narisa cursed when the sound of snapping branches and something moving away behind them not only spooked her but got under Cepheith's hide. "Easy, Cepheith. Don't let it get to you." She soothed the irritated gold. "You're right. If we wish to catch it, we must move quickly. Yet cautiously." Preferably with no tripping involved. "And no flat out running!"

Cepheith grumbled, but rubbed her snout along her bonded's side before shaking herself much like a canine might. We must move quickly! The young Queen added to Asoth's yell. But carefully. She added in again as Asoth stumbled. The gold paused next to her brown clutchmate to offer him a small encouraging nuzzle before trotting after the others at a safe pace with Hers beside her.

"Maybe Pipith and Set'al should take the lead? They probably would have the best advantage of catching it or keeping pace." Narisa suggested, hearing S'kiro. Really, it was hard to take a moment to plan with that thing making good time on getting to the Weyr. But a plan, even if small and incomplete, was better than rushing in head first.

There was a good amount of snapping twigs and rustling bushes up ahead, along with a few exclamations from the group. Without first waiting to see what it was Laith immediately moved into a defensive stance in front of her rider, eyes whirling red in the night and dragonic teeth bared. Nothing would be touching Hers if it came their way.

... Laith, I don't think such a display is the best means of blending. He received no response from the green, and simply let out a sigh. He loved her dearly, but there was no denying that she was overprotective of him.

Relys almost growled. They nearly had had it! Now it was going back to the weyr. With Relysk bounding at his side he took off after the creature. They wouldn't let it get away.

Mine, Cepheith says to be careful. S'kiro gave the blue a pat on the shoulder as they kept moving back towards the Weyr. "She is right." His heart rate was up as he tried to think of what would make a clicking sound and run off with a log.

He watched as the Wher and handler ran off ahead of them. That was the best probably as they have the eyes for the darkness. "Let's follow them."

For all the rushing going on to try and catch the creature as it dashed off ahead of them the trail wasn't all that hard to follow and really..dragging a log was not the best way to try and escape. The crashing sounds ahead were certainly getting closer as the group pursued the mysterious creature, it's trajectory sending it stumbling right into Laith and her's where they were walking father back on the trail.

Clicking in surprise the creature splayed its legs and skid to a halt just inside the shadows before whirling away to try and go around them ...dragging the log the entire time. Sadly this delay was enough to allow some of the others to catch up completely Relys and Relysk were the first to spot the beast and having been caught for sure the blue wher, it's hide caked in mud and stream slime (which was probably why Relysk hadn't scented it in the first place) dropped his log and hung his head in shame...

..And maybe just a little bit of huffiness too...what it had only been sneaking out to find new toys! And he was more then a little bit annoyed to have been caught in the act. Where his handler was no one could be sure..but it was clearly a tame wher and not one of its more savage wild cousins out for a playful romp in the woods...in all likeliness the Wher hadn't realized it was causing so much concern and had only run off for fear of losing its toy and getting caught out where it wasn't supposed to be.

It really did beg the question though...Where exactly was the handler?

Mine... Mine! It was just a wher! Neptanth moved up to look at the blue wher. S'kiro peeked around His and had to laugh. The wher looked ashamed at being caught with his new toy. That was the best thought the rider had for the toy. "Neptanth, don't bother him too much."

Asoth, had run ahead and almost crashed into Laith and the creature. "Here!!! OH! it's a Wher.... why didn't we sme.....oh it's all slimy!" called Asoth, prancing around, they'd found the creature and it was a wher and not dangerous and M'lan was there and they were at the front and had found it!!

M'lan was relieved it appeared to be a tame Wher, he'd held his breath when Asoth had gone running and almost crashed into Laith and S'koi. "Boy am i glad it's only you little wher... where's your handler?" he asked, standing and looking to see if there was anyone that appeared to be looking for their missing companion.

When they reached the....wher that they had been chasing, Narisa sighed in relief that it wasn't anything, well worse. She was rather glad that no one had gotten hurt on this chase either. Cepheith, however, gave the wher one of those 'Looks'. But Narisa put a stop to anything she might have said along with that look. Instead, the gold sighed and tilted her head. Was the wher alone? You have rather been a pain this evening. The young Queen informed the wher, a slight bit of amusement tinting her honey-warm tones. But where might your handler be? Did anyone notice a stray human about?

"Maybe he snuck out just to...play?" Narisa scratched along Cepheith's head as the gold one pressed her wedge-shaped head against her rider. "And same question as M'lan. Where's the handler?"
