I was in the first grade when my obession with PoTo. My sister had gone to see it and she told me everything about the story, the music and just everything it was so amazing. Then my freshman year in hig school my firend let me borrow her PoTo book and it boogled my mine. I feel in love with the book and the characters. Also that same friend introduce me to the Canadian Cast i <3 Colm Wilkinson. Right now i am currently reading Phantom his life story by Susan Kay. Well my first encounter with Erik was in 7th grade (I was 12) I had heard about it and we had played a medley of the songs in band that year. I fell in love with the music and kept it when we were supposed to turn it in. Every now and then I still take it out and play it. After that I went and bought the book. I've read it countless times. Then my Freshman and Junior years in high school my choir went to see the musical. Then I saw the preview for the movie during my senior year. I listen to the music and watch the movie constantly. So, I fell in love with Erik and PoTO in general when I was 12.

My friend and his family LOVE Poto, and he's been obsessed with it for like ten years. So i decided to see it, I really liked it because it was a drama, and i love dramas.

But it's sad because everyone in by family hates it. crying

Many many years ago, my parents bought the original London cast recording of Phantom and would play it occasionally when we were cleaning the house. About five years ago, I started listening to it while I did my homework and have been a Phan ever since.

Once upon a time...when I was like six my mom had the tape and played it in the car all the time. While we would listento the taoe mom would tell me who was singing and what was going on. I loved the music so much I wouldn't go to sleep at night unless mom would play the tape on the stereo in the living room so I could hear it. My mom had seen it on broadway a few times and when it came to Orlando she took me and my sister, who was 4, to go see it.
Idon't know why but after a while I kind of forgot about PoTH but when the movie came out I was like "OMG! I remember this!" I went to see it with my family and my boyfriend. When it was over I was like obsessing over Erik and my bf was a little jealous. xd I bought him the movie for Christmas. But after the movie I found the highlights cd mom had and began listening to it nonstop again...The End.

I actually had hardly ever mentioned, or seen, or heard talk of the phantom of the opera until it came out last year as a movie. I looked forward to it very much, but due to other things I eventually forgot about it. Luckily for me, during the summer I saw it on the plane. I loved the songs, loved the movie. Literally love at first sight. To this day, I still love everything about it.

I was in sixth grade when it all began. There was a field trip to see a play version of PotO at the George Mason Center-thingy. So I went, and it was AWESOME. I loved Erik. The only thing that dissapointed me was when the guy who played Erik took off his mask at the end, and his face had nothing wrong. It makes me sad that they didn't even TRY.

At that time, the movie happened to be in theaters. [It was fate, I know this now.] Sadly, it wasn't until almost two years later until I saw the movie.

One word: LOVE. I read the Leroux novel about a month and a half later. Loved it, too. But I WAS angry that they only featured that [about] 2 minute part with the torture chamber in the movie.

I started reading the Susan Kay book yesterday. I'm on page 258 I think.

I became a phan not to long ago.

You see, my cousin (who is in the guild) is very obsessed with POTO. I HATED it, but of coarse I had never seen it. But I finally saw I think The PoNR scene and I said to my cousin, "It's not as bad as I thought it was"

So another day, I think we watched a bit of it, I had to leave and she said we will watch it another day.

And that 'Another day' came. I had finally watched the whole thing biggrin But before that, I said, "I wanna watch the rest of POTO D:"

But back then, I hadn't seen ALL of it, I saw most in different spots.

I think... I really can't remember, we watched the whole thing. I dunno XD Everything's a blur.

But I now have the 2004 movie. I got it from my cousin on my birthday ^_^.

I now listen to the music. biggrin And I showed my friends the movie They loved it too! ^_^ And now they are Phans just like moi. 3nodding 3nodding

(Though I still like other things more than POTO, I really enjoy the movie and music ^_^)

1. My friend Emma (aka my makeshift angel of music) gets obsessed with POTO and I start to get suspicious.
2. A substitute shows part of it to us in band class. (the movie, I mean) Can it get better?
3. I discover that I "kind of like it" so I decide to get it and see it with my parents at home.
4. I fall completely in love with it. (I couldn't stop crying when I watched it the first time!!!!)
5. A few more watchings and I enter struggle mode: POTO vs. Les Choristes. POTO seems to be winning...
6. Several days without Les Choristes does the trick. POTO dominates ALL!!!
I have now become a Phan (or as I call it, a FantoFreek).

I saw the Wishbone episode too! Then I forgot about until my friend showed my the Wicked soundtrack, and it was after that I rediscovered it. I got the soundtrack and listened to it forever. Then I went to see the movie for my birthday, and I really havent stopped watching it since I bought it. I saw the show in September and I'm seeing it again on Broadway in April. I badgered my local Barnes and Noble for both the Leroux novel and Susan Kay's. My friend made me a Phantom Plushie and bag for Christmas, and I have studiously collected every DVD of every version of the story. I lack only two, and only two of them are really good - the newest version and the original 1920's.

6th grade, my friend became obsessed when she went to her neighbors and they had a POTO poster in their living room. She would not stop ranting and raving for about...well, she still does rant on about it. I told her I hated POTO, and didn't wanna see it. That summer, I went to another friend's house, and was forced to watch it with them. "Mirror" was the part that really got me hooked. After several months of obsessing, I found the Leroux book on my shelf (lucky me!) and read it entirely that day, and re-read it for at least several weeks, until it got lost in my locker. Then my first obsessed friend got me POTO for my birthday, and I watched it once a day for a week. THEN I found my MP3 and put as many Phantom songs I could fit on it until I got my iPod. A few weeks ago, I was cleaning my locker, and found my copy! It wasn't even messed up or anything, no pages were folded, nothing! When my parents go out for a walk or something, I start singing random songs from the movie. My Gaia may be Daae, and so am I, for my voice is very good. I even quote the Phantom from both the movie and book in my head, and sometimes in writing. My friends call me obsessed, I call myself Daae.

In my 7th grade English class, we had to choose any book we wanted to read and we had to tell her about it when she asked. I chose The Phantom Of The Opera, which was much better than the sappy romance I feared it would be, it was much more interesting. I told the teacher about it, and ever since then, many years ago, I've been a Phan.

I wasn't a phan until about a year ago when I watched the ALW movie and became obsessed. But when I finally saw it on stage, I realized the movie was nothing compared to the stage musical! Though I still do love the movie. Hooray for ALW movie phans!

My little brother actually recommended the 2004 movie to me (he saw a part of it in band class).

After watching it, I got hooked and did further research. heart

Now he's like "...I've created a monster!" D:

I wish I got to watch Phantom at school!

Then again, I can't complain. We did watch Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
