Lumena Town Square. Billowing white hair spiraled in the occasional autumn updraft, coiling around Miusa's creamy-pale features as she left the Castle Inn, pulling a coat on over her short dress to fend against the bite of the chilly air. She could see a plethora of students and others mingling in the square. It wasn't surprising to see people cloistered together. Everyone was afraid of going off alone, afraid of what might be waiting for them around the next corner...
In front of her, she spied a dark aberration amid the wonderful lights and colors of the fall. "Well, hello, Professor. I see you're spilling your morose ideals on the youth of our time, again. I hope you're not being too harsh." She gave a polite smile to both Professor X and Shaden. "Planning on attending the Hallow's Eve Ball, X? I'd love to see you gussied up."

Emelia was more then nervous considering how on edge people were. It didn't help that she was hungry and with all the witches around, it was hard to ignore that ever present craving for magic. She'd come to get some cooking supplies, but the cold was making her consider just sitting down in a tavern with a glass of hot tea.
To bad that was out of the question, her money was just enough to get her things. While she could always try to flirt and score a drink that meant she'd have to flirt. And while it was tempting, she so didn't want some disgusting tavern drunk attempting to fondle her. Nasty pieces of work. A gust of cold wind and she shivered, she was not suited for this weather in the slightest. Looking around she hoped there might be a damn shop so she could-
Cancel that. Better things to do. For a while anyway. The majin boy she'd teased was here? How precious. Were those his friends? Even better. Smiling, she began to walk over to him. Rajih would just have to deal with her. "Hello Rajih dear" Her smile was as innocent as she could make it. "Fancy meeting you here. Your friedns?" A hand motioned to them, eyes pausing on Theo. "They look so.. sweet."

Curse it all, he’d gotten taller than her. After years of smirking down on him, now she'd have to smirk up. Taller than her even with her heels on. Rosel made a silent vow to never wear flats again, should she happen to run into him. The nerve of it, being taller than her. She had half a mind to zap him for it. And then he was going to pull the formality card? Oh no he was not. When he released her hand, she batted him playfully on the shoulder. She resisted, resisted, shocking him through the thin layers he had on. "Why Azra'iel Einar, you goose, no need to be so dreadfully formal!" She playfully rolled her eyes and glanced in mock-exasperation at Salem. She might have been a bit out of practice, but she could play the giggling maid quite well, thank you very much.
His next words made her want to call him something much worse than a goose. In fact, it made her want to fry him like a bug. Nobody had brought up her marriage in months, and she had actually managed to forget about it for a little while. There was some luck though, at least he didn't know how it ended. Or didn't appear to at least. Rosel strongly suspected that if Azra'iel had been around after that mess, he might have been the only one to actually figure her out. Rosel wasn't sure she could trust him not to turn her in. No matter now. She'd started this little performance, and it was her own fault she'd brought along an audience.
"For shame, Az, bringing up such a tragedy... You must have heard my husband died in a tragic fire last year..." She sniffled dramatically and looked away from the two, biting a knuckle. However, the back of her mind turned over the comparison of Salem to her dearly departed. If he hadn't been wearing the glamour, the misunderstanding might have actually be justified. After an appropriate second and a steadying breath, she turned back, with almost-tears glistening. She'd honestly tried for real tears, but it was just too damn cold. She was always terrible at getting realistic tears to actually fall. Sniffling again, she straightened with a dramatic effort to compose herself. He'd be sorry for making her act in such cold weather. "And shame on you again for such an assumption. This is not my unfortunate husband, but my dear friend Salem. We've only just met, but he is an exemplary gentleman." She clasped her hands tightly and looked over at the Majin, stopping short of batting her eyes. It was best to retain at least a little sadness. How long was she supposed to act broken up before she could be herself again?
"I have to confess, I'm not quite certain if I'll be in town for the ball..." It would all depend on who was going, in the end. Like the Black Hearts. Maybe she could skim off any drunk party-goers who took it upon themselves to stumble home...

Rajih was still in the midst of being suffocated by Ophelia, though when he finally managed to escape her grasp, (oh my god was she try to kill me???) with a flush of embarassment, he was caught by the famalier smell of peaches and the odd sensation of a witch eater. Emelia, the little witch eater he had met as a student had sauntered over to him.
He stood a moment gaping, did she realize that she was in the presence of a Reaper? While he had doubts about Ophelia becasue of her eccentircy, he knew she didn't make it in the Reaper job class by being pretty. The minute she would sniff out Emelia meant the witch eaters doom.
He shook his head, what did he care? She was one of the people HE had sworn to defeat so they stopped their ways. But in the middle of Lumena town square? He could never understand the girl.
"Emelia." His body was stiff as he looked at her before raising an eyebrow. "Oh their just...peaches." He looked at Theo too before smiling, "Here you can have this one Emelia." Rajih pushed Theo towards her before moving away. His last encounter with the woman had been...weird. His first feel up had been on her too, how did one face a girl after they accidentally felt their breast? He blushed at the thought.
His attention diverted back to Lycander and Requiem, noticing that the taller boy he had bumped into was slowly moving away from the crowd. Was he shy? Rajih thought that was adorable as he came to stand closer. "Yep, Hallow's Eve ball! I hear its a fantastic event for couples." Rajih nodded, "So your Lycander and...Sorry but I didn't catch your name?" he smiled softly at the other boy. There was a odd... familiarization about the other boy. Like they shared something. Rajih didn't want to pinpoint it but, he kinda of felt that Requiem may be of the Majin race like himself, and faced a terrible persecution like Rajih...but he wouldn't go prying. He had just met the other witch after all.
He devoted his attention to Lycander instead, thrilled that the boy had so much energy. "Yeah, It is quite the spectacle. But its better to enjoy the time we have instead of being bothered by rumors." Rajih's eyes squinted as he watched a reaper give them a look. Ophelia was in their group though so he passed right over them. "Eh me? I might go. I don't hve a date though so..." Rajih smiled sadly, "It seems that while I am popular..." He looked over at Theo, Emelia and Ophelia before sighing again, "I do not have the charm to take a lady with me." Rajih shrugged. His eye's widened at Lycander's question before grinning. He never really payed attention to Theo's horns but now that Lycander pointed them out...They were kinda of small. He bit his tongue from saying that out loud.

She watched the pieces of the now snapped branch floating in the fountain. Turning her gaze back on Professor X, Shaden studied him for a minute, before shrugging a shoulder in response. "Not everyone has to like this town." She said with slight distaste. Lumena was definitely not her favorite town. "And what, may I ask, would keep your attention?"
Letting the question stand, Shaden turned to the boy she'd been speaking with, though one ear was trained on the man next to her. To the boy - Athir - Shaden smiled again. "There is nothing wrong with that at all. Kinda nice to know that at least someone enjoys reading that material." Her cyan gaze briefly flickered over to the blonde girl again. The Reaper was, in a sense, glad to see that the girl hadn't just gotten up and left. She may not wish to speak with them but she definitely seemed interested in the company. Probably something amusing at the very least. Not that she really minded the girl being there. Nothing about her set off any warning bells in the Reaper.
Hearing the deeper voice to her side, Shaden looked over her shoulder, giving the dark haired man a look. "That depends." She answered, even though it had been more of a statement. "On what you define as 'ordinary'."
Watching him for a moment longer, the gentle voice of the boy drew her attention again. "Athir, is it? A fine name. And it is indeed a pleasure to meet you." At his question, the Reaper's tail swished from one side to the other, as if testing how cold it was. "Perhaps just a little. Though not ubearably. Finding someplace warmer might be advisable though." She made sure to include everyone around her in that silent invitation.
A new voice had the Reaper straightening her posture, ears perked up and attentive. She turned towards the newest addition to their group and gave a returning polite smile. Her lips twitched at the small bit of teasing she gave the Professor. Shaden liked this woman. Knew of her but didn't know Miusa herself. "Good evening, ma'am." Shaden offered with a smile.

"Indeed it does." Letting his gaze wander briefly to take in his surroundings, Lea blinked at the sight of the purple and blue clad female mononoke as well as the white-haired lady and red and black-haired male whom she was in the company of, finally comprehending who Cedar had been referring to when she mentioned about another mononoke. It was the first time that he had encountered another of his kind and he couldn't help but wonder which creature her powers were affiliated to.
... Were those markings on her tail alike his own?
Suddenly self conscious of the fact that he had been staring at the reaper mononoke a tad longer than necessary, Lea tore his gaze from her and allowed it to meet Cedar's for the fleetest of moments before lowering it slightly. He hadn't really meant to stare at the other female in the middle of their conversation like that and he sincerely hoped that she hadn't noticed it nor taken offense in that. "Is this the first time you've seen one..?" He inquired tentatively.
Lea almost cringed at the shift in Cedar's facial expression that had seemingly occurred out of the blue next, half thinking that he had been the cause of it until he heard the word 'her' spill from her lips. Oh. "Someone you didn't quite see eye to eye with hmm?" He paused for a moment in between, a somewhat puzzled expression on his face as he pondered over how best he could reply her posed question. It wasn't as if he had been at the academy long nor was he well acquainted with its history and the teachers so far. "I would think not, but how long has it been since you've left the academy Miss?"
"The world can be really small at times as I've found Kalypso. How have you been since the last time we met? Is this your first time in Lumena?" Now that Kalypso was by his side, he turned to smile warmly at her, his head dipping just once to acknowledge her presence as he raised a hand to introduce the both of them to the young witch whom he had just ran into. "I'm Lea Snowdrop and this is Kalypso. How may we address you, Miss?" He allowed his words to trail off as he gave a small bow to Cedar out of sheer respect.

Lumena Town SquareOphelia clung to Rajih like a sock from the dryer, stroking his hair affectionately while shushing him. She craned her neck towards Theo when asked about his key and replied sarcastically, "Why, it's in my pants of course!" before sticking out her tongue and scrunching her face. He should know she was smart enough to read and that she stuck the key under his door after locking up. Then she noticed that it wasn't just Theo and Rajih, but two other boys. Boys she didn't know. She still held onto Rajih, cheek to cheek now, and introduced herself to the strangers. "My name is Ophelia Thanos! It's a pleasure to meet you, Lycander...and.." she trailed off, turning her gaze towards his companion. She wondered who they were, and if they met just now or were already friends with Theo and Rajih. She also wondered how Theo and Rajih knew each other, but such were tales that could be saved for another time. When Lycander's friend asked about the Ball, Ophelia's interest was sparked. She had forgotten all about that event! But her eyes caught a dreadfully familiar flash of pink hair and eyes as she spotted the witch eater in their midst. Their battle and her loss was still fresh in her mind, but the witch eater left on a strange note that only left more questions for the reaper. But even so, her first thought was why was she here? Was she involved in the recent witch killings? Ophelia finally let go of Rajih, and even took a subtle step towards Theo, her arm brushing slightly against his. For a moment, her violet eyes lingered on the witch eater, hearing Rajih say her name. Emelia, was it. Her presence made her very nervous, and she hoped she hadn't noticed her yet. She was also nervous for Rajih, who seemed to be comfortable around this majin...

"Ah... Admittedly, yes. In my time at school I never meet any." Cedar maybe say one from far now that she thought about it, but never close up like this. "And where I live, are mostly humans without magic. Neither of my parents had any." She shrugged a little, and smiled at him. He was a kind witchling, humble and modest.
"Oh sheesh. I'm sorry, that was rude of me." Cedar shook her head. She did seem to frighten the boy. "She was just someone I went to school with, I guess you could day that we didn't see eye to eye." She remembered the days. She inwardly laughed, Aquene is probably the one causing all this trouble. "But enough about that. " She didn't want to dwell on something that was a downer. She didn't like to think about things like that...
"How long have I been out." Cedar had think about this, it hadn't been that long, but long enough for changes to occur. "Three or four years, I would say. I was only there for about two and a half. I guess not to much could change." She placed a hand on her hip. She glanced at the boy's ear. She wanted to tug on them...
As she zoned out some, she looked over to the other girl and she smiled. "What a unique name! It's very lovely. Kalypso." Cedar waved at her the girl. She seemed a bit more reserved. "And Lea Snowdrop, family name? You're flattering me with all those Misses. You both can call me Cedar. And you don't need to be so formal with me!" She waved with her free hand nervously.
Now that she had settled down and talking, she felt much better about being out. But in single instant that could change. And as a reaper came into view Cedar was reminded of the reality. One of the two she was talking too could have been the culprit...

He could ignore the jibes. He would ignore them. But he couldn't resist at least one. "You're insulting Phil too when you insult my family, dear boy." He murmured in Rajih's ear. Theo's smile grew very dangerous when he felt the damp seep into his sleeve. He turned to Rajih, the dangerous smile very firmly in place. "Of course not, Rajih." He smiled. "I do know how to behave after all." you are so on, you b*****d. Challenge accepted. Rajih was in for a beating. He would personally make sure that Rajih was almost, if not quite dead by the end of it. While Ophelia continued to suffocate Rajih, Theo was content to watch and sip his too bitter coffee and wish he had some sugar. Rajih looked distinctly uncomfortable, pressed up against Ophelia's none too small breasts. It amused him really. Most men would faint if the had a chance to bury their face in breasts and here was Rajih, looking like he wanted someone to kill him. Theo would've obliged, but he doubted that many would take too well to that.
"Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lycander." Theo's smile lost the dangerous edge when he stopped looking at Rajih. "And yourself?" Theo asked the other boy. He was half hidden behind his partner. Very much like light and dark, Theo noted drily. What a pair they made. They seemed very close. Very close indeed. "What? My horns?" Theo raised an eyebrow. "Unfortunate side effect of becoming a witch eater actually." He said, his tone dry, face serious. "Actually, I'm not sure. Probably my tea. I probably shouldn't have picked up those scales I saw." Theo's lips quirked in a small smile.
"Right, right, as long as no one breaks in and steals all the junk I have in there." Theo shot back at Ophelia, shaking his head slightly. Really, how he put up with her was sometimes beyond him. "And you are going to the ball, Rajih?" Theo asked, his tone of voice almost incredulous. "Are you gonna wear a dress? Oh wait, you're wearing one already. I forgot. Except it's just so short you had to make it a shirt." Theo's lips were curved in a very pleasant smile as he spoke. But the smile dropped almost immediately with the presence of another woman. The way her eyes roved around, resting on him. Like he was a delicate morsel she wanted to consume. Rajih didn't help matters by pushing him towards her, but that was the least of it. That was he would get back at the majin boy for later.
Emelia, was it? Theo's smile faded completely. Instead, there was a mask of stone on his features instead. "What do you want?" He asked, his voice hard, unfriendly and clearly dangerous. Oh no doubt, no doubt whatsoever that this pink haired woman whom Rajih was unfortunately acquainted with was a majin, witch eater perhaps. He would bet on the latter. And when Ophelia too reacted, he was fairly certain. "Perhaps, you should be careful here." But Ophelia looked more worried and scared. She probably had met Emelia before. "Emelia, was it?" He asked. "I am rather unfortunately taken." His lips were pressed into a hard line, his eyes flashing dangerously.
"Rajih, you're in deep s**t for knowing her, just so you know. And pushing me towards her as well." He murmured into Rajih's ear. "She's probably a witch eater. Why do you know witch eaters?" He shot Rajih a look that said everything and more. Rajih would pay for getting him into this. His jaw clenched in an attempt to stop himself from jumping on her. There were reapers crawling everywhere, but even so.... They wouldn't be able to react fast enough in such a crowd if this Emelia decided to attack. And he didn't dare trust Ophelia. "I'm fine." He said to Ophelia. She moved up to stand closer to him, clearly sensing the threat this woman posed as well. His hand balled into a fist. He wouldn't make the first move. He refused to.

His attention to the blue and purple reaper wavered as others seemed to randomly appear around her... causing him to grow much more quiet, and closed in. His smile grew more faint, and his eyes returned to-- oh... well, his book wasn't in his hands anymore... so they just stared into his lap that had his hands clasped together to keep each other warm. Friends of hers, perhaps. It would be rude to interject. So, he remained silent, just... sitting there, in truth, really not sure what to do. It was a common ritual he'd practiced since a boy. To blend in with the surroundings.
But he was drawn from his wallflower state to peek up at the reaper as she acknowledged him again, a semi-bashful smile taking to his face from her light compliment, making the corners of his mouth curl slightly in turn. His eyes were distracted by her tail for the briefest of moments, but he quickly averted his gaze. It was probably rude to stare at a mononoke's animal bits, right? as intriguing as they were... Athir nodded in response to her declaration, daring a glance to the surrounding shops and the like, fingers fiddling idly at the frills to the end of his scarf. She seemed preoccupied now with the other's approaching her. It was probably best to take his leave. An arm moved to reach for his school bag, carefully slipping the strap over his head, so that it rest comfortably along his chest. But then there was ...the matter of leaving. He paused for a moment to try and figure out the best way to go about it, so as not to offend her. Though Shaden now seemed engaged with yet another! Simply standing up, Athir let his satchel fall at his hip, the scarf's extra slack along his front, hands finding their way into the pockets of his fall jacket. "It.. was nice meeting you, Miss Shaden." his soft voice spoke, eyes remaining cast downwards. "Please, take care. And stay warm." in truth, he didn't expect her to hear him, but figured that it'd be the appropriate way to take his leave, already facing away from the now gathering group to find a new place indoors to reside, sparing a small look to the quiet blonde woman, to give her a smile as an equally quiet means of showing his goodbye's to her.

His fingers tightened against the fingers that had curled around his own, giving them an encouraging squeeze. The redhead gave Requiem a sheepish grin. "I know. Bad habit. But now I'm distracted by something else, and in my opinion, much better." He winked and turned his gaze back towards the small group they were collecting. The three were quite amusing and Lycander couldn't help chuckling.
Lycander was starting to wonder if perhaps these two young men were also an item? Or maybe they had a thing for one another? Maybe. Or they were just really good friends. Both were good possibilities. Though he thought the latter was amusing. And speaking of the pair, Rajih was speaking to him again. About the Hallow's Eve ball. "Yes, I have heard this too. I am looking forward to it! An event like that should also offer great chances to meet more people." And the redhead did love meeting new people.
He felt Requiem lean against his shoulder, noting that he'd moved partially behind him. Lycander squeezed his hand again, leaning a little into his friend. He knew he didn't like crowds very much - something the redhead was working to improve - and didn't mind being used as a sort of buffer to separate him from the group. If anyone happened to notice the subtle shift in Lycander's weight as he more firmly put himself between the group and Requiem, well. Could anyone blame him? It wasn't like he was unaware of the way people were paying closer attention to Majin right now. But the redhead was nothing cheerful and energetic to speak with new acquaintances!
Nodding in response that yes, that was indeed his name, Lycander went to reply to Rajih but was momentarily distracted by yet another person joining them. This was not someone he knew either, but Rajih seemed to...and it didn't appear he was fond of her, if his rigid posture was anything to go by. Emelia he had called her. And then the response of the Reaper girl. The redhead gave her a wide grin. "Ophelia it is a pleasure to meet you as well, my dear! And good evening to you as well, Emelia is it?" Well he could at least be polite to her.
What had Rajih said again? Something about not having a date to the ball? Well, he had two lovely choices right here. Though that was probably dangerous to suggest. "Don't fret, I bet you'll find a lovely lady to accompany you to the ball." He didn't say that Ophelia was just such a lovely lady, though his emerald gaze did flicker towards the Reaper before falling back on Theo. He laughed, a pleasant sound, when Theo answered his question. "It is indeed an interesting and rather handsome side effect, I must admit." He complimented, though it probably sounded more like flirting.
As the tension shifted around their group, so did Lycander. He moved closer to Requiem, emerald eyes narrowing a notch as he looked back and forth between the group. No one seemed to feel comfortable with this Emelia girl here. Which led him to believe she must be Majin. A specific type, actually, now that he thought on it. Was she a witch eater? It would certainly explain how everyone was reacting now. For once, the redhead remained silent for the moment.

Interesting, apparently Miss Rosel had become quite the actress. No really, Azra'iel was certain no one's personality could change that much in two or so years. The older witch had never shown herself to be a giggling debutante; at least not to him. She had been superior, sly, and remarkably patient for one so short-tempered.
He could almost admire that ...if those traits together in her did not do so much to make his skin crawl.
But regardless of whether any or all of her speech was an act, Azra'iel could not stand to see a woman cry or even come close to it. He chose his words carefully, not wanting to assume the true state of her feelings on the past. Pale golden eyes rose, cleared of both apprehension and challenge and met her distinct neon gaze.
"I am sorry to hear the suffering you have endured, Rosel." The younger man's voice dropped to a soft, solemn tone as he reached out to gently squeeze the hand closest to him. It was probably the most genuine overture he had offered her since they had met. And in the back of his mind Azra'iel realized she would not even appreciate it; it would in fact probably come back to bite him somehow.
Breaking away from the seriousness of that exchange, Azra'iel offered a cautious smile and a nod to the witch Rosel had introduced.
"A pleasure, Master Salem. I hope the day finds you well. Are you a resident here or traveling through for the upcoming spectacle? If Miss Shimala here is able to attend, I highly recommend you request a dance. As I recall, she can be the life of the party if she so desires."
Seeing the distinct pink pigtails of Ruria out of the corner of his eye, Azra'iel thought to at least attempt to escape from his trip down memory lane. Perhaps his fellow student would offer a means to that end! If she would just turn her head a bit, he might be able to catch her eye...
"As I said, a pleasure to meet you, Salem. Rosel, charming as ever; I am so glad to see you well and perhaps I'll see you both at the ball." Childhood training would not allow him to just leave, and Rosel knew it. He wondered if she would be rattled enough by his earlier sincerity to dismiss his company without a fight. They were playing the game of civility well, but how long could that truly last?

He gave Shaden a glance that was almost interested. "My my," he said slowly, pushing himself upwards into a proper sitting position. "By the tone of your voice, it sounds as if you are not quite as...taken with this vile place as the rest of its citizens. So what, pray tell, brings you here?"
There was the sudden scent of vanilla wafted towards him, followed by a very familiar voice. A slow smile made its way across the face of Professor X.
"Good afternoon, Miusa," he drawled, lifting a dark brow. "I can't say I'm surprised to see you here. However," X gave a melodramatic sort of sigh, eyes flickering towards the people surrounding him, one hand pressed against his chest in mock dismay. "I must admit, I'm slightly hurt that you believe me to be so negative, my dear woman."
He gave a snort, turning his head away. "Like I would be caught dead at such a tedious event - is what I wish I could say."
Something passed across the professor's face; a shadow of some sort, darkness flickering in his eyes. It passed as quickly as it had come, however, and the calmly disdainful look had returned once more. "I'm afraid I've been...recruited to be a chaperon, and most unfortunately, there is no way of getting out if it, as much as I wish there to be."
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"...sorry, but I didn't catch your name?"
He didn't realize he was being spoken to until he felt a soft nudge against his side. Requiem's gaze snapped back over to Rajih, his expression closed off.
"...Requiem," he said, in a quiet voice. "Requiem Driscoll."
The way Rajih was looking at him - a penetrating, curious sort of gaze - confused Requiem. He could not quite figure it out; what was it that he wanted? Simultaneously, however, there was a strange sort of...familiarity that emanated from the teal haired young man - one that made it difficult to distinguish whether or not Requiem was imagining it or not.
...Majin..?
He did not want to say for certain; to accuse someone of that and then be wrong...the results would be disastrous. And Requiem could not take that chance.
Ophelia was introducing herself, and Requiem offered his name a second time, though this time in a much quieter voice than before. He was not shy; that was not the case, but he did not have much experience in talking with either girls or large groups of people, and it was making him mildly uncomfortable.
He felt her before he actually saw her; a sort of electricity in the air that made his spine tingle, the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Requiem stiffened, golden eyes flickering as an unreadable expression flashed across his face. His fingers squeezed Lycander's - a gesture that would be noticed by no one other than the redhead.
She was standing just a short distance away from their motley little group, her flashy, cherry colored hair making her stand out easily from the rest of the crowd. Requiem had never met her before; not once, but her presence itself made him feel uneasy.
Turning his face, Requiem's back faced the group as he leaned his cheek against Lycander's, whispering privately and briefly in his ear so that he would not be overhead by the others.
"Witch eater."

As she tottered away, step by step, she gave a glance back to Rajih, who seemed smothered and surrounded by people she assumed were his friends. She couldn't quite bring herself to simply barge into his tight-knit group, and so she turned her attention back to seeking a pastry shop. It was then that she saw a glint of pale hair, and recognized the boy she also had met the other night, Azra'iel. He too seemed in conversation with a buxom, dangerous looking woman, and a greyish, ghoulish entity she recognized as a Witch who had appeared at their last school festival. She wrinkled her nose at the prospect of meeting that particular witch again....he had been quite rude to her last they encountered. How uncultured. Still, she felt obligated to say a greeting to Azra'iel, and she teetered to a stop a little outside their group, and offered the lofty man a soft wave of her hand.
"It's good to see you again, sunshine." a coy little smile curled on her pink lips at saying his new 'nickname'. "Is this your date for the Hallow's Eve thing?"

Location: Lumena Town Square.
Salem let his gaze wander between the two of them as they spoke, scarcely able to suppress a gale of riotous laughter at the way the conversation unfolded. He loved the position of observer best, for it allowed the best sort of view for things like this, such revelations, such bold statements, such obvious lies. His grin would not hide, though, for he refused to let this woman, Rosel, believe he'd fallen for her silly ruse as this Az apparently had. Already he knew her to be wily and cunning, and though they might make powerful allies, he mustn't let her think she could best him so easily. What she played at was his CRAFT, the art of hiding behind layer upon layer of words to mask intentions. He knew not the truth behind her, and, to be honest, was only passingly curious, but he was sure whatever she would tell Az, it would only be half of the truth.
Finally, though, a lull in the conversation.
"Why, the pleasure is mine, sir." How pleasant to meet one so polite. Though, these days, people seemed to be quite partial to Little Old Salem. Maybe just the glammer speaking for him. He cared not. Onward with words.
"No, no, not a resident, though the town is lovely," Salem continued, looking briefly at the city around him. "I am a wanderer, you see, a vagabond, a man of the night, a lonely guitarist on the corner of a darkened street. You hit the second nail upon its proverbial head, though," He smiled. "I am indeed here to see some of this ball. I've yet to see it in action and it shames me to say it."
With a nod and a sideways glance at Rosel (a habit he was apparently picking up), he intoned, "Oh? Is she, now? If she does attend, I would indeed be interested in watching her dance!" He didn't dance, himself, he found it a bit foolish, but anything to appeal this silly little man. He was enjoying soaking up the niceties.
Even as Az looked ready to leave, looked as if he WANTED to leave but couldn't, they were approached by the pink-haired girl he had seen from a distance, and it struck Salem then why she looked so familiar. A fragment of memory floated to him.
"Why, if it isn't the young miss whom I never came to know!" Salem took on what he believed to sound like glee, or perhaps revelation. Either way, a lie. "This girl defended herself with great merit, last I saw her! A promising witch indeed." He added nothing else, choosing instead to let Azra'iel reveal what he didn't know.
