Merci couldn't help a bit of a frown as she indicated Vance, where he was tormenting poor Tek. "That is a Vance. He's my responsibility I suppose you could say." She spotted Sully moving back over toward him and added a sigh to her frown. "Normally I wouldn't have brought him, but he was saddled with a Sulfur recently. He so rarely leaves the house, the poor little wisp doesn't get to see anyone. I would have brought the car, but I stupidly put it in the shop this last week and the mechanics are jerking me around. Suffice it to say I've not gotten it back." She regarded Amon for a moment and then she furrowed her brows, "You wouldn't mind having him stay? I mean he's a giant snake, some people aren't super comfortable around reptiles." Her fingers closed around the plate that Amon had served her. It really looked amazing.

Merci didn't really wait for a response before she turned and took the card from Anais. Her green eyes scanned the text and she gave the other woman a sly grin, "I actually have another Medusa that you would probably get along with famously. He loves to bake, half my house is usually covered in whatever he's decided to make. I've been trying to get him to stop because it's seriously bad for my figure." She poked herself in the tummy and then placed her hand flat against it. There was no way she was out of shape, she had to pretty much stay that way to keep up with Cinder. "Though I understand a pattisiere does so much more then just bake. You know my girl and I run a bar. Maybe you'll let us come by some time and try your wares? If we like it, we could see about contracting with you to maybe cater special events the club holds." The idea of tasty deserts she didn't have to bake made her very excited. It was hard enough doing parties and events without having to worry about catering too.

“Baw, how could he?” Miranda’s eyes widened. “He must be a really mean, cold-hearted person then. I mean, those little ones obviously need our help and not to be” – she gave an indignant snort – “grounded.”

Whaaat, his new friend was leaving? The shadows which surrounded the diamond-shaped piece of quartz sped up again, and for a moment it seemed like he was about to follow after the blazing yellow wisp. But, just like Sulfur, he couldn’t bear to be far from his bond.

Miranda’s eyes drifted shut as well when Dio started humming. It was strange, really, as it was no audible tune, but inside her head rather. Strange and beautiful, not really discordant but simply … foreign. “That was beautiful,” she said, once Dio had stopped, and smiled at him over the rim of her spectacles. “So, there’s a star watching over me as well? Can you tell which one?” ((Hahah, Dio has a fan. XD))

“Nonsense. Nothing can possibly top my sambal.” Amon gave a good-natured grin, reaching back to re-tie his ponytail as it had begun to slip a little lose. His hair was definitely starting to get too long, yet another thing to be taken care of when he went to town tomorrow. “It does sound great however. I’d love to try it some time.” He accepted the card, pocketing it after a brief once-over. Perhaps he ought to bring the Madame along, if she was up to it. The parties she arranged were spectacular, so she always had use for some catering extravaganza.

His gaze followed the direction Merci had indicated, resting on the medusa for long enough to realize Tek’s ploy to scorch yet another unassuming person’s taste buds had apparently backfired. “Hey, I think I like that guy already,” he said. “Finally someone who appreciates my cooking skills. And no, no problem with giant snakes. My favorite spicemonger happens to be a naga.” He shrugged.

The stargazer glanced back toward Vance again and he shook his head before turning his eyes back on Miranda. ''In time we hate that which we often fear.' Shakespeare said that, Merci said he was a great writer and I find a lot of wisdom in the things he writes. That particular passage though is very true. I guess another way to say it is that 'Man fears what he does not understand', I assume the same can be said for all living things, including Medusa.' Dio didn't like Vance, that didn't mean he didn't understand him. He floated over and used his fingers to brush the piece of hair that had gotten frosting on it behind her ear. 'There are no things like us on this world. We are not even like each other, each one of us so vastly different from the other. I think it all comes down to one thing though, survival. We want it, you want it, he wants it, and he believes that we will somehow harm him. He'll begin to understand that we aren't hurting our Guardians, it will just take him time.' With a touch of amusement he added, 'Plus he's a snake right? They're cold blooded, that might account for the temperature of his heart.'

The teenager moved his hand away and beckoned to Rutie offering him a place on his hand again. 'I'm not...' He paused a moment to think about how to phrase what he was going to say. 'I'm not so good at picking out specific stars. I hear them all, and sometimes, sometimes I can make out what they are trying to tell me. It gives me a headache. I guess I could liken it to being at a choir concert before it begins, and everyone is warming up their voices on their own, and the audience is talking.' He furrowed his brows, his eyebrow piercing twitched down with the motion. 'I don't know if that's a good analogy. It's hard to explain the vibrant color of a flower to a blind person.' Behind him his tail flicked back and forth, the dangly bobble that hung from it was glinting slightly as it reflected the low light. 'But enough about me, your little one is quite amazing yes? Tell me about him?

Jasa shook her head. “No, Athan, it is totally my fault. I’ve been to the shop a few times but always seem to end up somewhere else. “ She laughed. “Between the greenhouse and holidays, I stay busy. Ruku seems to have a love for the warmth and plants so he fits in rather well there. The biggest problem I have is he seems to hate my ice makers, air conditioning and such. I’ve replaced five ice makers now and I’m sure he’s the one doing it though I’ve yet to catch him. But I was thinking that perhaps you knew a way to fireproof his clothing. That vest he has on is the only thing he has that is.”

“A word of warning though, don’t try Amon’s sambal unless you like lots of spices or have a glass of milk ready. It’s good but hot. If you ever need any plants, stop by the greenhouse and I’ll see what I can do.” She held out a card that appeared from her pocket for Athan. She recognized Merci and Cinder from the party at the bar that time. But there were quite a few she had not met yet. “I’ll come to the shop. I promise.” She finally stated before moving away. It was then she saw Hugo looking as if he were going to try some of the sambal. Jasa blinked, shaking her head. “Are you sure you want to do that?”

Ruku nodded to Rhys. *I suppose I should cook them properly. I don’t want to ruin Amon’s party. And yes, that’s Jasa. She owns part of a greenhouse and I help her there. Actually she said she found me in one of the pots some kid broke.* He spoke as if he were not a kid and glanced over at Rhys amused. *The only thing I have that is fireproof is what I’m wearing.*

He began filling orders for food as people came towards them and would have tried to answer Anais question but he knew little himself. There were no memories before Jasa except wanting warmth and the sensation that it had been taken away from him in some way. Was that why he disliked the cold so much? The feelings from before? Ruku did not know but it did not matter so much because he had Jasa and the greenhouse.

After letting Amon take over the grill, Ruku wandered over to Nell. *I’ll catch you later, Rhys.” He said before moving away. “What’s the hold up, Nell? You need to grow and catch up with the rest of us.* He reached out towards her but then stopped. *You didn’t bring those ice pixies with you, did you?* Glancing nervously over his shoulder, his eyes narrowed half expecting them to start throwing ice darts at him.

Obli drifted towards Nephrite. He seemed happy to see her, but his feelings were still ruffled up by Hugo’s actions. If he had eyes, he would have had them narrowed and watching Hugo suspiciously. He let Nephrite soothe him down a little but then he began to follow his guardian at the longest distance away he could remain and when the man turned to watch him, Oblivion purposely moved away.

Hugo glanced over at Jasa and grinned. “Actually, yes. The food where I come from is usually very bland. Sort of like our society I have discovered since being here. I plan to return if I can find a way but I also plan to stir things up when I go back.” It never occurred to him that he might never be able to go back. He had gotten there after all. “I’m Hugo, and that unhappy fellow behind me is Oblivion. He’s annoyed at me.” With that said, he picked up a spoonful of the chili from his bowl , taking a large bite. He blinked but took a second bite and then a third. “This is amazing.” He loosened his shirt collar with one hand. “It’s hot but I like it. We have nothing like this.” He glanced over at Amon, giving him a thumbs up on the spicy food as he drank from the glass of milk. “I think I shall get the recipe for this from him before the party is over.”

He talked to Jasa a few more moments then moved towards Athan. At this point his hair was entirely white and his eyes had their opal glow back. Darkness seemed to do that. He held his hand out to the man. “Athan, I’m Hugo Farnsworth. I was planning to come see you at the shop. Amon suggested I do so. I suspect that Obli might be trouble later and I have an idea of who is inside that stone. I wanted to discuss that with you and was thinking that the sooner the better, but not here with so many people around. “ He was certain the mention of Doran would set everyone into a panic or at the very least Athan. This was supposed to be a party after all, but some warning to the man would not hurt. “Also there are some strange properties to his stone. It’s blue goldstone, but I think my planet had an effect on him that might have changed it.“ Hugo indicated Oblivion floating around behind him. The wisp was exploring the nearby table, distracted for the moment.

((Reyna, this means I want an RP with Athan for Hugo, please. Whenever you get time. ))

"Gods, tell me about it." Anais laughed, patting her own middle. "But a good cook has to taste everything." She winked and nodded to what Merci was suggesting.
"Of course, if you give me a call before hand I can set up a tasting session for you. I'd love to team up for some events. They're often my favourite as I can usually let my imagination go crazy." She smiled at Amon's words and looked over to the naga enjoying the sambal. Well, she was glad someone was able to appreciate it. "Well, same goes for you Amon, give me a call in advance and I'll whip up an extra spicy one for you."

Miranda blinked. “Wow. That was pretty deep for someone your age – how old are you actually? But it’s still a pretty mean way to treat the little one. She should be able to get out and about and learn new things and meet people and … others like her.”

She leaned back a little, getting more comfortable. Actually she was having a craving for another piece of cake, but she felt entirely too lazy to get up and help herself to one. “My name comes from one of Shakespeare’s plays actually,” she explained, “The Tempest. Miranda was the daughter of Prospero, a powerful magician.” Wouldn’t it be cool if her dad was like this? She tried to imagine, but failed so horribly at it that she inadvertently found herself giggling. “Sorry,” she said. “I just had to think of something … incredibly funny. Nothing to do with you.”

She listened carefully as Dio struggled to explain what it was like, trying to listen to the stars, nodding quietly to herself. What he said totally did make sense to her, and she told him such.

“Heheh, little Twister here is quite awesome. He’s quite a little rascal, always getting himself into trouble. He managed to get himself locked in the microwave, the oven, the cutlery tray, the kiln – that one really freaked me out – the washing machine, the vacuum … He’s terribly afraid of my cat, so I guess he just picks the strangest places to hide in.” She laughed.

“And he’s obsessed with sparkly things. He’s constantly trying to make off with some of my beads – it’s adorable, it looks like he’s trying to play soccer or something – and he really likes to make a mess with glitter. I left a tube open by accident once, that stuff ended up everywhere.”

The little wisp which hovered over Dio’s palm looked deceptively innocent, yet what with the appearance of the shadows which surrounded him, and what Miranda was telling of his antics, it was easy to see how he’d gained the nickname ‘Twister’.

“Oh,” Miranda added, with just a hint of despair upon her face, “and he never sleeps. He’s like the Energizer Bunny. Did you know that Athan picked him for me?”

Amon quirked a brow, surprised to find that Hugo of all people seemed to like the spicy sauce. Well, he had fully expected for him to try it – the teacher’s curiosity for all things new to him apparently knew no bounds – but for a moment there, he had been prepared for the worst: That call for an ambulance peach-hair had suggested earlier on. Relieved to see that Hugo seemed fine, however, Amon relaxed and allowed his focus to return to the conversation at hand.

“Not too spicy, perhaps,” he said, “as I’ll likely have a lady with me. One with a rather sweet tooth.” Which was about the only weakness Bree Winterblossom seemed to have. He had invited her to come as well, of course, but as expected she had chosen to decline.

Now, where was Neph hiding? It had been a while since he’d last spotted the capricious little fiend. Hopefully showing new friends around in her precious greenhouse or something, and not out to ‘improve’ someone’s food or beverages.

"Mhm." Mistalina smiled and nodded, watching Nephrite slip away to toss the little cake liner in the garbage. She was glad the girl had liked her gift, even though she probably hadn't comprehended the reason for it. The elf had found the comb at a little shop in town, one the specialized in all sorts of hair adornments. Oddly enough a place she hadn't noticed before, but now she was glad she had.

Now that the gift giving was over with, perhaps it was time to find a little something to eat? The elf made her way to the table where the food was setup, curious about this 'red stuff' everyone had been trying. She had heard a few mentions of it being quite hot. Certainly seemed worth a test to find out just how hot it was. She helped herself to a generous spoonful and a few chips, dipping one of them into her little bowl and took a bite. Her eyes went a bit wide and muttered a curse in elvish after she swallowed.

"This stuff is great...but wow.." She coughed, silver eyes closing. "Sure gonna burn on the way down."

Algie had lost track of himself a bit in the small groups that were conversing. He really didn't want to interrupt any of the conversations that were currently in progress. He glanced down at Bloo who'd dislodged from his finger again as if to ask the wisp for a little guidance.

Bloo's shadows writhed around him and he seemed to test the air slightly before he began to dart between people.

"Oh.. Bloo!" Algie tried to squeeze through politely as he followed his wisp, "Excuse me,.. pardon me.."

Bloo stopped as he reached Dio and Miranda. He knew them both but was especially excited to see Dio. The tiny wisp flew straight towards Dio's eyes to make himself known.

"Oh.. Dio! Miranda!" Algie tried to look as non-invasive as possible. "Bloo has chosen you both as our destination." He looked slightly sheepish to be led around by his fiend so easily.

Stretching his legs out Theirn chuckled slightly looking up toward the cat girl, "that's about right, I'm not really known much for my tact." Shrugging slightly he rested back, his gaze shifted over toward the playing wisps before speaking agian. "What sorts of things did you write?"

He smirked slightly at her assessment, "well electricity to me smells like a storm is on the way. Your right not many can pick it up but there is a short amount of time before storm comes and before the rain is on the air where you can smell the electricty in the storm brewing." His eyes went thoughtful a moment and he glanced up adding, "thunderstorms of course...and no not many would pick it up," shifting his gaze over he looked toward her face making eye contact as he continued to speak, "tell me, what do your sensative nose pick up? I'm assuming you have one."

Coal slowly stalked after the other wisp, he briefly lost her before her brilliant coloring gave her away. Darting forward he moved to follow her into the undergrowth. Coal stopped short watching quietly from the shadows as Ruku ran up to Nell, giving them a few moments he darted forward nosing around the child fiend as he did. His slow circle of Ruku wasn't even finished before his attention was drawn toward the grill, the wisp stay paused in mid air.

========

Tek grumbled toward Vance again, you are a silly face. And without more to add the little fiend darted off into the crowd, xe was going to need to find another game to play. Tilting xyrs head to the side xe noticed the green fiend that had offered up the invitations throwing out a bit of clutter, grinning a little to xemself xe moved off into the shadows and waited for her to not be paying attention. Peering over into the garbage Tek scooped up the wrapper she had just picked up off the ground and then moved back again into the shadows. Once it seemed the Neph's attention was elsewhere Tek leaned out and tossed it not far from her so hopefully when she turned around she'd see the wrapper she'd just thrown away on the ground again!

Rhys stood near Merci and Amon eating his burger quietly while the two discussed Vance's fate, "...so Vance is staying here or getting a ride with Amon or something? I just want to know because I'm not going to bother finding crabby another ride if that is the case."

Although he was trying to not get in the way Rhys leaned over to peer curiously at Anais' card tucking his wings close to his body as he did, "if there is going to be taste testing..." he grinned and glanced to Merci, "I'll of course happily offer my services."

Nell flickered and shimmered briefly like a flame, apologizing to Coal for abandoning the game for a moment as she darted towards Ruku with a quick whirl of shadows she spun around him and up. Hovering near him in appreciation before backing away.

In a bob resembling either a shrug or a ducked head, like a child being told to eat their vegetables.

She allowed her shadows to close around her then shift to point back behind her indicating it was just her and Trivii.

~~~
Observing his relaxed posture Trivii tucked her legs up under herself... "I use to do investigative pieces, So I guess I must have a pretty good nose myself.... Well until recently, now I'm just doing human interest work for the local paper. Nothing big, but its consistent enough to pay the bills."
She could appreciate his vague, and somehow airy response, it said more about his character than he probably thought it did, her right cheek lifted in an amused smirk. "O-zone, the scent that comes from electricity coming in contact with air, O3."
Looking away her opal like eyes lost focus as though visualizing, or remembering.
"The things I can smell are slightly less subtle, like dogs for instance its like dust and sunlight with bone-marrow. Its an unusual and hard to mistake scent the smell of something that has chased the wind as only another predator could."
Looking back at Theirn the cat girl murmured, "I'm probably not making much sense. But I get that sort of scent from you."
Nephrite silently giggled to herself as she overheard the elven lady’s words. No small wonder Amon had seemed so full of mischief when he’d prepared his ‘specialty’, this stuff was awesome! Though she couldn’t figure out what her guardian had meant when he’d said that chilies were a great apro … afro … Argh, she didn’t even remember how to pronounce that word! But it had made Jasa’s face grow red even without her trying the sauce, which was fascinating.
She looked over the food table for a bit, and eventually started to re-arrange the little cakes Mir had brought into a neat flower-pattern. Then, when she was almost done, she decided otherwise in the middle of it, and went for a color gradient instead. Eventually she was pleased with the arrangement and turned to join the party. Maybe she could get someone interested in looking at her greenhouse? Or her dresses? Pondering her options, she turned, her gaze falling on the cake liner which Tek had tossed out.
Immediately, her delicate brows knit into a frown. Hadn’t she just … ? Well, it had to be another one then. Really, people were so inconsiderate, they should behave better when they were guests at another’s place! Looking left and right, hoping to spot the culprit and give them an earful, she picked up the colorful wrapper. Strange though, it looked exactly like the other one, including the light dusting of glitter which clung to it. Maybe it had been the wind. Only there wasn’t any. Considerably confused the dropped the offending bit of paper back into the trash bin.
‘Neph … ?’ Again Amon craned his neck, trying to spot his fiend, this time with more success. She was at the food table, rearranging the cup cakes by color, from the looks of it. So her OCD had struck again. Which left him slightly concerned. Nephrite usually didn’t get started on one of those sprees unless she was bored. And bored fiends spelled TROUBLE.
“… sorry,” he said eventually, tuning back into the conversation. “‘Crabby’ can spend the night here and I’ll give him a lift tomorrow morning when I go to town anyway. If he agrees to it, that is.” He shrugged. With a nick like that it seemed that na- medusa was a less than agreeable person. His gaze rested curiously on Vance for a moment, taking in the rather extravagant outfit. “He’s not gay, is he?” he asked eventually. He knew he was being rude, yet he couldn’t help himself. It would change nothing about his offer though.
Coal distractedly flickered his shadowy aura toward Nell before bobbing forward in the air moving closer to the grill. Bobbing up the little wisp peered over into the grill, spoking the coal in fire his little aura rippled in distress!
Darting down coal circled a nearby bag full of charcoal, the substance inside he registered was much like him and they were starting it on fire. His aura rippled again and he darted back toward Nell.
Nodding slightly Theirn watched Trivii as she spoke there seemed to be more to this quiet girl then he first realized. "Interest pieces I'm guessing aren't as exciting either?"
He gave a slight shrug, "but ozone doesn't sound as interesting as saying, 'the scent before the storm'."
Theirn stayed still listening to her description, it was a stillness that only those familiar with the games of predator and prey would be familiar with. There was no movement something done when you wanted to go unnoticed, Theirn's stillness only lasted a moment however. "It makes sense and I figured you smelled something along those lines..." frowning as if in thought Theirn glanced out over the crowd before looking back, "you were smelling my beast..." the frown didn't leave his face, somehow he knew that talk of his darker spirit wasn't meant for a place of festivities such as the barbeque.
===========
Tek's little tentacles wriggled in amusement watching Neph throw the cupcake liner away again. Patience xe reminded xemself was key in all great pranks, slinking forward xe waited hiding until Neph had moved from the can. Darting up Tek snatched up the cupcake liner again and retreated to the shadows once more. Lying in wait xe kept watch on the green fiend waiting to see where she would go and keeping with him the cupcake liner.
