Malodore flinched backwards as the crystals swooped past, then winced again as its own back protested that sudden movement, too. "I... I sympathize," it said, quietly. And her damage was much worse than its had been.

Working as quickly as it could, it bandaged her up, though the crystals sliced at the gauze. "Jericho, could you call Nurse Cricket? I'm not... hm." It gave Riley and then the dragon a speculative look.

"How smooth of a flyer are you?"

Nodding to Malodore, Jericho fumbled with his phone a bit, ready to give the nurse's office a call. However, out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed something glowing nearby. When he turned to look, he saw a glowing bug resting against the wall.

There.. weren't many glowing bugs he knew of that weren't linked to Cricket.

Then again, he didn't really know any glowing bugs personally. Furrowing his brow, he moved on over and carefully picked up the centipede. No harm in trying.

"Go tell Cricket she's needed here ASAP," he instructed before turning towards Mal, "Hope that works."

The bug didn't do anything. It sort of flopped around helplessly for a moment, but after a moment it slithered off underneath the door and out into the hallway. How long would it be gone to 'fetch' it's 'mother'?

It would be still some time before the ghostly woman pushed through the door herself, not even bothering to knock - why waste time knocking when she had been asked to come there. However, she didn't seem pleased with the situation at all.

Cricket's presence seemed to reach out and touch everything in the room, her eyes stopping to look at the two-..no...there were three present here at the very least and she looked over each of them in turn with a certain.... well, each got their own flavor of look.

Only one of them would be given any look of favor.

"Did I perhaps move too quickly?" she asked, making a very...serious face. Something about being 'summoned' appeared to have bothered her. Perhaps it was that she was being made to do her job? "I can always leave and come back." the woman spoke slowly, her hair beginning to braid itself in a rather self-sustained manner, perhaps to get out of her way.

If she had been miffed about something, she made no comment as to what it was, instead seeming to simply....look over the situation she'd been brought in to. It seemed...unusual.

Riley had almost fallen asleep, curled up on the floor as they discussed with one another the best way to contact Nurse Cricket. When she heard the distinct voice of the nurse, however, her eyes opened wide in sudden alarming shock, and she tried to sit up before she thought any better. She only got a few inches before the crystals reminded her that moving was a bad idea, and she slammed her head back down on to the pillow, letting out a string of drow curses that would have made an elder blush.

Finally, even though her face was still pressed into the pillow, she responded to the nurse as efficiently as she could.

My apologies for the sudden summons, Nurse Cricket. I need.. help.

The phrase alone sounded foreign and almost disturbing, coming from her. There was no formality to her tone, she was not requesting assistance politely - no. She needed help.

Ah! Malodore stood up quickly, bowing to Nurse Cricket - it hadn't expected her to actually appear. Its questions about possible emergency Riley airlifting fell to the wayside, much to its relief. "Thank you for coming, Infermiera - I felt it best by far to obtain your expert wisdom and care," it said, that relief also audible in its tone.

Bow completed, it sank back down next to Riley, reaching for and finding her hand.

Annoyance aside, Cricket at least was professional enough to approach the..mess that had been forming in the room even before she'd been requested. It truly was a mess, and somehow it seemed even then Cricket was annoyed she'd been called for. None the less, she approached the Mindflayer with a certain confidence that.... probably came from knowing that the worse she could do by not being meek was have to fix something she she was capable of doing.

Meekness was not something her craft rewarded kindly.

"I would have much preferred to know what I should have been expecting to see quite a mess when I arrived." though really, she wasn't phased. Then again, this was the woman who had built herself back up after being devoured by fish due to a sinking ship, so perhaps there was some merit to her thoughts.

The nurse nodded to Malodore when it spoke. "In this case, it was much smarter to call on it." she said, possibly praise for the ability to read the situation, but none the less, she remained standing as she looked over her current.... 'patient'.

"This is..." her fingers barely touched Riley's back, or perhaps they simply had no presence at all to them as she looked over the injuries that....were oddly placed. The ghost touched one of the crystals as well, pulling her hand away when the edge of it pressed through even her ectoplasm, causing it to throb and knit itself back together in living retaliation. "I am not assuming much in this......" she motioned to the crystals, unsure what to label them as entirely, "development..... is responsible in some way, correct?" She looked to Riley to answer this question, needing the confirmation from as direct of a source as she possibly could.

Strangely, it almost felt as though Cricket's hand was.... well, weightless or not, the touch alone seemed to prod against the flesh in a gentle manner, as though 'pulling' something away from it - sadly a skill that would not be learned in her FEARhealing classes.

Riley did not even want to look at the nurse, right now. There was shame in her eyes, and that shame was better kept hidden by the pillow her face was buried in. She could hear, and speak, without seeing, regardless.

Yes, Nurse Cricket. The quiet, and respect-filled voice mumbled. They're psionic, and they tend to have a mind of their own sometimes. I believe they have conglomerated against my will and embedded themselves into my skeletal structure. I am, however, in a great deal of pain due to their rather forceful nature.. and I simply want the chance to heal. Every time I move, they cut me open again. I'd rather not lay here any longer, my legs are unresponsive as is.

Suddenly, her head lifted, and she turned questioning eyes to Jericho. How long has it been, anyway? A few days? And why were you all at my door the moment I texted? She hadn't even thought of the inconsistencies in the situation until now.

As Cricket came in, Jericho backed away to let the Nurse get a better look at Riley. He stood by, with a worried expression while he waited to see what she was going to do. The Nurse seemed far less than pleased to be here, but at least it seemed that wasn't going to stop her from doing her job.

Shifting his attention to Riley, he furrowed his brow and lowered his head somewhat.

"Two weeks... I came the night Arel called for the meeting," he said, "I've been staying at Barth's place the entire time trying to get a hold of you somehow.."

Malodore watched Nurse Cricket work with fascination, trying to commit her every action to memory. Perhaps someday it, too, would be able to approach something like this with such aplomb... but that fascination broke when Riley spoke, and it squeezed her hand gently. "Two weeks," it echoed, quietly. "I was not with the others the entire time, but I sent Fedele out to search for you."

Christof was shuddering where he crouched, scrubbing forcefully at the increasingly wet but cleaner carpet, surrounded by the smell of fumes.

Two weeks and he had just trusted her to be alright... trusted that if there had been a problem she would have called for him... he had tended to Malodore diligently, hadn't he? He had assisted with Miss Amrita and.. and they had a contract. He was her Igor as much as any of his other Masters- more so in his mind than even Barth much to the Sloth Demon's contempt. But she hadn't even texted him. Hadn't wanted him there. She didn't trust him.

All he did was try to earn her trust, try to make her see him, but she didn't need him. What good was he to her here, when it would probably be better to just replace the carpets altogether? She could afford it. It wasn't that big a deal, but there he crouched, desperately trying to hide his face, and blame his streaming eyes on the clouds of chemical vapors that drifted up from his industrial blood removal recipe.

Cricket listened to the situation as it was more or less passed between the students in the room, her eyes narrowing slightly. If she'd been annoyed before about being there at all, this news bothered her further than anything else would have. Two weeks and it was still being a nuisance. The nurse looked to Malodore - "I have spoken of being...frugal with FEARhealing to you previously simply due to the fact you need it for emergencies. This is one instance in which I would say that because the body has not been able to heal on it's own, you need to help it."

Yes, the same woman who would turn away broken limbs had just said this was serious looking.

For a while, her hands didn't move from their spot, still seeming to 'feel' at the wounds without her even moving them. Eventually, however, she would pull them away, rubbing her palms together instead. "I would apologize if my hands hurt, but that cleaning was as gentle as I can manage with efficiency - I'm sure alcohol would have hurt much more." Several reddish spots seemed to be devoured into her body through her hands, vanishing to never be seen again. Had that been what she was doing? Then again, she was made of several living things.

Perhaps one of them ate bacteria.

Still, when she seemed ready, she placed both palms on the back of the mindflayer, two of the more familiar markings on the nurse's arms pulling away from her ectoplasm - the infamous 'Crickipedes'. They glowed much more brightly than any other marking on her body, even as they took on a life of their own, seeming to seek out the spots on Riley's back. They nudged, and rubbed their 'faces' against them curiously - by no means gentle about it either.

"This should take about....thirty minutes." she said, not even looking around the room at those present. This would possibly be the first time any student would be able to say Cricket actually used FEARhealing (cutting herself open for Demo didn't count).

Cricket didn't even speak to them - she didn't have to. They were separate, but they were a piece of herself. They seemed to pull away on their own, leaving only their mandibles near the raw spots - Mandibles that seemed to ooze. The liquid was cold, but....

"I'm sure that the cold isn't bad." Cricket said, not really asking. If these had been open for two weeks, well....the cold would at least numb it.

Finally. Something was getting done. Riley could easily ignore all of the pain, because it meant healing. She laid still as a board, and Nurse Cricket never heard so much as a peep coming from her the entire time. In fact, whatever it was Cricket was doing to her felt ecstatically better than how her back had felt before. Calling for the nurse had been a really good idea. After all, she had been laying in constant pain for two weeks, according to Jericho and Malodore - a fact which left her lost in confusion.

How could it really have been so long? She murmured, turning now to look at her Malodore. It didn't.. I don't believe I was conscious for most of it. The sense of guilt laid heavy in her heart at the idea of them all camping in Barth's room, waiting for her to come home. You shouldn't have done that. She whispered.

The crystals themselves were responding differently to the infusion of Fear. They had been constantly turning, but Cricket's touch made them still, succumbing to the greater power. Their gentle humming and glow faded as well, and their positioning hardened into a more solid shape. There was even a thin, almost invisible membrane of Fear that only showed itself when Cricket's glowing centipedes passed near it. Whatever it was, was responsible for holding the crystals together in the shape they were currently in - which, as the Crickipedes pulled away and inadvertently illuminated the membrane fully, was most assuredly the shape of wings.

Seeing Cricket work was definitely interesting. Jericho had never witnessed FEAR healing before. Though, his concerns were still more on Riley than anything else at the moment so he wasn't watching too carefully.

"We were worried," he frowned, "It's unlike you to just... disappear like that. Your door was bolted too which was also strange."

Shaking his head, he watched her carefully.

Malodore was increasingly torn between abject fascination at Cricket's work and concern for Riley - of course it was worried about her, and wished her the best, but oh watching Nurse Cricket work was thrilling. "I had thought FEAR-healing would be the only method of treatment, but what little I know is either antiquated in method or wholly untrained. I would not dare risk it on another," it murmured in response to Cricket's impromptu teaching.

The flare of guilt from Riley, however, focused the plague doctor's attention wholly on her once more. What else should we have done? Other than broken down the door thirteen days sooner, truly... Its gaze flicked up to the crystals.

Cricket didn't seem to stray from her task to observe the wing-like formation that had caused the mess she was cleaning up to begin with. She'd put herself to a task and from that front had forced herself to actually focus on it. Easier to do when she wasn't in a rowdy classroom fully of idiots - sorry student populace, about 80% of you counted towards that to the nurse.

Even so, if one watched what Cricket was up to, it seemed like no matter how much FEAR she pooled into the raw skin, it was just eaten up. Cricket didn't even seem slightly the stressed about it, however. She simply continued her task diligently. Perhaps even calmly.

After some time, the centipedes pulled away, Cricket feeling at the areas with her fingers, though not exactly gently, looking over the mess that was slowly cleaning up. Her lips tightened a bit at her assessment, but she again set back to work.

"It should only be a bit longer, in case you're curious. How will you handle your situation after that?"
