"The noise it makes is singularly... irritating." Malodore turned itself so that its back was facing the box; still, ever so often its backblades rippled anew with vague annoyance. "I wonder that such a device wasn't used earlier. In a classroom setting. By the administration."
It certainly seemed in-character for the school to officially do such a thing.

"Yeah no kidding," frowned Jericho as he looked back towards the noisy box.
"I dunno, maybe the next person that gets in will have more luck getting an answer from the phone," he said. For now, he just kind of stared at the boogie box. Ramming into it once was enough for him, seeing how that sort of sated his curiosity in the meantime.
"So have you been enjoying things at least?" he asked the Plague doctor, "And have you seen Riley at all?"

"I have been enjoying myself - it's a bit overwhelming, but entertaining. And, alas, I have not seen our dear illithid anywhere. There are simply too many people. And lights. And colorful objects."
The plague doctor looked slightly stunned.

Levia stared aghast as the door plopped right open at the new comer's shove. The ringing stopped once he entered, but then.. resumed when he left? It must be a cricket in there after all, and he didn't bother to let it out! She was tempted to bolt right up to the door and try the same technique herself at the apparently un-locked door, but the grombie paused to witness another rattle the door to the same success rate that she herself had felt. The undead girl was oddly optimistic despite this. She wasn't one for revenge or jealousy, but her determination was not about to change any, "This just proves that the door can open." Levia beamed at Cuinn, "And that brute force works just fine. I don't know that I have that sort of strength there though. Perhaps if I find a log I can do one of those dramatic hammer-down-the-door things." It was a common enough sort of tale that she had eavesdropped overheard some monsters going on about. It was supposedly a heroic looking effort to battle the beast, which sounded appealing in the sort of ironic way in that the heroes in this effort would be the beasts.

"Well that's good then," Jericho smiled, "And yeah there's a lot of people around her. I'm sure one of us will run into her sooner or later though."
Pausing there, he soon let out a sort of chuckle.
"Especially if any of the booths turns into a sweets stand. No doubt we could find her there if we need to," he said before shaking his head, "But try not to get too overwhelmed, ok?"
He knew the plague doctor wasn't one that was too used to large social gatherings like this and all.

Cuinn followed Levia’s gaze over to Malodore. He watched wordlessly as the plague doctor attempted with no success to get the Boogy Box open. Just how did this stupid thing work? How was it possible that one boil could effortlessly shove the door open while the next, who arrived only a few seconds later, failed miserably? “Yes, I’m quite sure the door can open,” Cuinn replied, his frustration leaking out through his tone. The cu sith was not much of an optimist. All his previous attempts to get inside had been completely in vain. He had a hard time believing that anything he tried tomorrow would be any more successful. “Brute force apparently works, yes, but I’ve seen others walk over and open it like a normal door,” he continued. Turning to Levia he forced a smile, “I don’t think a log will be necessary.” The dog spirit crossed his arms and assumed a pensive expression. “It seems to me that the Boogy Booth chooses who is allowed to enter and who isn’t.” He glanced back over to the blue building. “You’re welcome to try beating it into submission… I would certainly love to see that… but I’m going to stick to turning the dial myself.”

"I shall so strive," Malodore replied, opening its beak in a smile as it nodded. "I shall also keep an eye out for sugar. Where there is sugar, there is Riley. The hypothesis has never been disproved."

Chuckling, Jericho agreed to what Mal said. It was a very true statement indeed. While a sugar high Riley could be frightening in its own right, there were times where it was more amusing than anything else.
"I'll be seeing you around then," he grinned before going on his way.

"Perhaps it's like those lottery things where you pull a handle, and after so many pulls it's bound to give its bounty sooner or later." Levia mused, noting Cuinn's posture and tone, "Perhaps if we take a break from watching it and let a few others have a go, we can return later for another pull, so to speak." It would also give him time to regain his temper and lessen the amount of stress in another festival activity. At this point, she didn't think there was much more they could do, aside from hiring a burly monster to tip the darn thing right over. Even then she had an inkling that the door wouldn't budge.

Levi had waited close enough to watch Desu-chan make her way into the booth. The sign was in some foreign language, she figured, until tilted her head upside down on a curious whim. A ha~ She wasn't going to be fooled; this was a Boogy Box.
What's a Boogy Box?
The white haired ghoul was nearly ready to step out of the foggy scene to approach Desu-chan within the booth, but the colorfully dressed Desu shrieked and darted out of the blue box before Levi could manage a move. The fog seemed to grow denser around the box as the tatzel student now realized she wasn't the only one watching this odd scene. She kept to her place in hiding while observing the others' attempts to enter the box and see what it was that had startled Desu-chan. There was a constant ringing. It was always just ringing...
Her ears moved down and back at this shrill sound, beckoning her to come towards the box to investigate it herself. Through this whole time of observing, some new faces as well as known faces had come across the box... but only a slim slim few...were actually able to step inside. What was with this box? As a figure she recognized as Jericho left, Levi realized this thing must be a force to be reckoned with... if the dragon boil couldn't just force his way in...
It was a good time, she thought, to move in and get a closer look. Possibly even spin the dial herself and see what all the action was about.

Keeping on her toes in a rather sly fashion, the tatzel crept up to the box while no one else seemed to be busying with the dial. Indeed, that sound seemed like a skelephone ring within the chamber of the box.
Darnit
The ghoul wasn't very good with numbers and she knew it, but the dial seemed to work out numbers at random rather than by a series of carefully strategized numerics. Or was it?
The white haired ghoul fiddled with the dial between a thumb and finger to see what would come up...

At least she wasn't sitting there puzzling over equations or mathematical possibilities to try and open the door. The random numbers didn't work out at the moment...but maybe that was due to some other mystery factor. Levi's wheels turned at trying to understand what else could be involved. It could be anything. Wrong timing, wrong shoes, wrong hand to turn around the dial.
Most importantly, the ringing just continued. Hissing momentarily at the continuous tone, the tatzel ghoul retreated for now back to her spot of observing. If there were any other tricks she was missing, she'd find out, dangit.

After the trip through the haunted house, Xiu was still a little shaky as she went around to check out the other booths. She was a little sad with how some things in the house turned out, not because of the attraction itself or for the people she had been with--no, she was very fond of Mitsu and...uh, fond enough of Shun, she guessed--but because of herself.
...She didn't want to go into it.
Xiu finally decided to swing around to check up on this strange box. Every time she walked passed it, she could hear the constant ringing that came from within. It seemed like other students were trying to get in, but she was never around to see if anyone was successful. Perhaps she should give it a go herself?
However, as she approached the box, a familiar figure off to the side caught her attention. She stared at the taller ghoul for a minute before a smile found it's way to her face, and she gave an enthusiastic wave. "U-um...L-levi!" Trotting over towards the Tatzel, she beamed up at her with thinly veiled admiration. Yes, she was still in awe of the other ghoul for her dancing and title-win at prom.
"I-I don't know if you remember me," The Baku wrung her hands together shyly, averting her gaze, "Um...I'm Xiu! From prom! Umm...the ghoul with the camera!"

Did he really want to try again? Kazuka knew that nothing was in the box besides some seeds like last time, but there was still the question of why Desu-chan was spooked. So after playing some other games he gravitated back to the box and decided yet again to test it.

With his decision made, Kazuka reached again for the panel. He then punched in the next possibility for opening it....
