Kiote Deliven
&
Grave Yuion

This city was alive with people moving and enjoying themselves, or relatively enjoying themselves in some cases with the job fair. While it was rather strange for the two friends to be among such a cheery atmosphere, they were happy with it. Grave didn't seem as grim as he usually did, as his name implied, and Kiote was actually looking around with interest. They needed jobs, both of them. They had managed to find an inn to stay in, but they hardly had enough money to even hope of staying long. They needed something to earn them enough money to live. Until they did, they likely wouldn't have much to eat in the very least, and that was if they could afford any food in the first place.

Kiote's arm had basically healed, though it was still in a sling as of the moment. After having it checked out after the fighting month before, he had discovered his arm wasn't broken, but it had been dislocated and the bone had been rather badly hit. The only reason Kiote still had it in a sling was out of being careful. He had already proven he could use the arm well enough with only a faint reminiscent pain of what it was, but that didn't mean he enjoyed moving it. Grave was still trying to convince him to get rid of the sling, but Kiote planned to keep it for a little while longer. Not much though as he hadn't had much practice shooting his bow in a long time. He didn't like that lack of practice. The only positive note was his swordsmanship had gone up a little in his time of practicing with the sword rather than the bow.

"Do you have anything you have interest in, Kiote. The longer we wait the less chance we'll find a job." Grave said lightly to the male at his side. Kiote let out a sigh as he shrugged. "I don't really know to be honest. The only thing I'm good at is farming and shooting this bow, though I'm getting better with the sword. I'm not sure what I should do." Kiote said with a shrug. He already knew that Grave had no idea what he was supposed to do. He was a fighter, that was basically it. He never had much participation in other things aside from surviving in the wilderness. What else was he supposed to do? It was actually starting to look like a good idea for the two of them to just wander out into the wild and survive that way. The only problem was the two of them actually liked this place. There wasn't much prejudice against the Laguz, and that meant Grave was welcome here. With that, Kiote was more than happy to remain here. It was perfect for both of them really.

"I'm sure we'll find something. No reason to worry about it just yet. I'm going to take this one step at a time." Kiote was pretty sure that worrying about finding a job wasn't going to help them find something they could do. It made much more sense to just look around rather than panic and have no clue of what they were getting themselves into. It was simply a good thing neither one of them really panicked about much.

The job fair; a perfect place to look. It was time to move forward, and to do that, Abel needed a group. He already had some people in mind; Akihi, for one, whom Abel thought had come with him to look, but must've gotten separated by the crowd. The others he wanted were a swordswoman, a healer, a woman with slippery fingers and a pair who worked well together. They were perfect for the group, all Abel had to do was find them and recruit them.

As Abel looked around the job fair, he spotted the pair who worked together walking up the street. One thing Abel was looking for was an archer. Well, the one guy, the beorc, could not only use a bow but a sword as well. His companion, the muscular one, was a wolf laguz. Abel had never seen him in his beorc form, but it wasn't hard to tell who he was by his clothing and who he was with. A laguz was an epic welcome to the team. On top of it all, these two had an advantage. They clearly had a strong bond.

Abel moved from his spot and started walking towards them, when a ton of lettuce came rolling by, followed an echoing cry about some guy's cabbages. The balls of greens hit Abel's feet and as he tried to avoid them, he ended up tripping when he actually stepped on one. He wavered and tried to stay up, but ended up going backwards, kicking up the cabbage into the air. It sailed up and rocketed into Kiote's face. Abel jumped up and saw what happened and then started to run towards the pair. "Oh gosh... Hey! Hey you!!"

Now, Abel knew it was an accident on his part, but those two probably didn't see what actually happened. To them, a cabbage had been thrown at them and now some guy was running at them while shouting. It was easily interpreted as aggression.

Kiote Deliven
&
Grave Yuion

Kiote and Grave came to a stop for a moment to look at a stall that involved cooking, but in all honesty Kiote couldn't cook and neither could Grave, so that didn't last very long. The two of them didn't even bother to figure out what the cooking was for, but as soon as he heard 'cooking' he had walked away. For the time being, the two of them had stopped and where simply looking around trying to find something that might be a choice of the two of them. The two would have greatly liked a job where they could work together, but that was seeming more and more unlikely as they went. They simply didn't have the same skills to be able to use to work together.

"Well, I guess this is going to be hard-" Kiote went silent and for a moment Grave didn't know why. The wolf Laguz slowly turned his head and blinked as he saw Kiote staring down at a cabbage plant. If the cabbage hadn't caught his attention, the yelling did. Kiote had just about enough time to turn and look at the man advancing on them before Grave was suddenly between him and the man. It might not have been so bad if it was just Grave, but rather it was a shifted Grave growling menacingly at the approaching man who was yelling. All in all, this was not a safe mix.

Kiote's right hand dropped reflexively to the sword at his side as he watched the man, his eyes narrowing as he gauged the distance between them almost instantly. If Kiote had kept his bow on him he would have drawn it probably, but he hadn't brought it with him. In fact, he only had Caviel with him. He didn't even have his other blade. If the man thought it was safe to continue running towards the two, he was sadly mistaken. Neither one of them were too sure what was going on, but they had translated the thrown cabbage, and the yelling to violence. The only reason Kiote hadn't drawn his sword was the lack there of the man having drawn his. That didn't mean Grave wouldn't attack though. "I would suggest you stop!" Kiote called to the running man. Grave was already starting to crouch to prepare to attack if he felt like he needed to.

"Oh geeze!" When the laguz shifted and leaped out, Abel about half-tripped several times as he tried to slow himself and then ultimately skidded to a stop. He ended up leaning back so much that he plopped on his tokus and then looked up at the laguz's snarling face. "...Well hi there!" he said with a silly grin.

He chuckled a little nervously as he scooted back and then slowly stood up and put his hands in front to show he didn't mean any harm. "Sorry about about the cabbage, there..." He waved one hand to say hello. "Name's Abel. I fought near you guys in the siege at one point. You impressed me!" He glanced at the wolf gave a nervous smile. "..Is it okay if I put my hands down, now...? Haha..."

Kiote Deliven
&
Grave Yuion

So it wasn't really all that surprising that the man came skidding to a stop, after all no one in their right mind would try and go through a laguz what was shifted, unless of course they were armed and ready to kill. As the man didn't appear to be drawing his sword that didn't seem to be the case, which was good. Kiote might have laughed if he was another person when the man stopped and said hello with a rather strange grin on his face. This was not how Kiote had expected to meet any person in his life, let alone someone who would introduce themselves so quickly that he almost missed it. Okay, so maybe it wasn't that he missed it so much as he wasn't paying close enough attention.

The open posture suggested that he didn't mean any harm, and Grave took this as a true sign and shifted back into his human form, but he didn't move from in front of Kiote. Kiote actually had to step to the side to see Abel as he nodded his head at the apology the man gave. "That's fine, I can assume that was an accident." Kiote responded bluntly before hearing what the man had to say. Kiote had to think about what Abel had said secondly though, about having fought near them. Sure enough, Kiote could vaguely remember seeing the swordsman fighting at the gate though it had been rather too crazy for Kiote to focus much on him.

"Put your hands down if you want. I'm not going to bite them off." Grave responded coldly, getting a sideways glance from Kiote at the cold tone. Apparently Grave wasn't happy even with the apology. He wasn't even the one who had gotten hit. Kiote shook his head as he moved out from behind Grave before holding his hand out to Abel as if to shake it. "I'm Kiote, and this is Grave. Why did we impress you?" This was a genuine question mainly because most of Kiote's time at the gate he had been injured. It was prior to the gate when he had actually been in a fighting form, but even then he hadn't been far from the gate. Still, the question was still there.

Abel chuckled at Grave. "Don't think I'm not grateful!" He lowered his arms, but kept one up as the beorc stepped up and raised his own to shake hands. Kiote's question raised Abel's brows. "Are you kidding? You were both great! You have awesome teamwork, it looks like it comes naturally. And you know what else I heard? I heard that you teamed up with the guild captain and took down a giant! I remember hearing the thing's cries! You gotta admit, that's a pretty impressive feat." Abel smiled and then shifted his stance to a more relaxed position and put a hand on his hip. "In any case, the reason I came to you is because I'm forming a mercenary group... and I want the both of you to join it! You guys game?"

Kiote Deliven
&
Grave Yuion

Kiote really looked at Abel with a dumb look as the man said that he and Grave were 'great'. It wasn't until that Abel continued that Kiote realized what the man was referring to. He was talking about how Grave and Kiote worked together with a good deal of unison to their movements. Kiote glanced back at Grave who was simply watching Abel with curiosity. While Kiote was thinking about what Abel had said, Grave was already trying to figure out what the man wanted to ask them. The comment about taking down the giant drew a shake from Grave though. "I would have preferred not ending the creatures life, so it's not something to be proud of." Grave responded a bit harshly to Abel. Yes, while Grave had aided in killing it, he had done so out of necessity to keep the Kiote and the others alive.

And then came the real point of Abel's discussion. Kiote blinked as he heard what Abel wanted, but Grave responded with a simple shake of his head. Kiote wasn't against it, but Grave instantly was without warning. "Well... Grave care to explain?" Kiote asked as he watched Grave who hardly seemed interested in explaining anything. "It's simple, a mercenary group isn't something I'd consider a good occupation. I don't like the thought of being considered expendable by employers." And there Grave had stated one fact that he didn't like right off the bad about the idea. Kiote actually thought it was a good occupation for their skills, but apparently Grave didn't think so.

{{Thank you for pointing that out because Grave isn't someone to go with the idea of an occupation like a mercenary right away.}}

Finally a little down time. Alex drooped back into a chair that was behind him and let out a relieving sigh. "Jeez, I never like standing too much," he said to himself as he leaned his head back enjoy the moment. The man had not noticed that he was the only one manning the booth and it will definitely be a surprise when he finds out.

"Hey Zeiss, is there any water around here or something....?" he waited for a few seconds for a response from the man who was beside him earlier. "Zeiss?" he asked as he lifted his head and looked around to see him nor anyone else there. He fell from the chair and scurried back onto his feet. "Wait, where the hell did that person go?" Confused was the sniper as he fixed the chair too.

He made his way back towards the booth and placed his hands on the table. "I'm alone, doing something that's dreadfully boring," Alex sighed hanging his head. One thing was certain, where ever the other people are that are suppose to be helping him with this, they better not be having fun while he's doing all the boring work. The red haired man was building up the urge to throw his arms up in the air and yell "CURSES!" but he held the urge in. Definitely not a good idea when there are strangers around you and you're trying to get them to join the Guard. Alex sighed one more time for himself before he shook himself back to his normal self and continued what he was doing.

Abel tilted his head a little and nodded. "Heh. Yeah, I guess mercenaries are by definition expendable. Even in this world, there's bound to be a lot of people who would consider them that. But really, it all depends on who you accept jobs from." Abel raised his free hand and motioned around them. "Most of the jobs I do are here in Learania, a lot of those being ones I get from the guild. I don't know if you've been introduced to the guild, but it's a group that welcomes other-worlders like me and you and helps them settle into society. In the guild, there's an unseen bond between every member. Our motto is 'Together We Ride'. And not only do Captain Nino and Vice Captain Rath care about every member, they also care about the people of Learania and would do whatever they could to help them. That's the kind of place Learania is!"

The young man held his head high with pride, but then rubbed the back of it and chuckled. "Although, I admit, I do take jobs from other countries. But when I do, it's not under the employ of the government or any lord; it's for the simple people. That goes for here, too. Most of the time, I'm not taking jobs from people in high places. I'm taking them from the commonfolk." His voice suddenly became much more serious. "That's what's good about being a mercenary. It's not about being expendable. It's about being able to help people. Unfortunately, there have been times where people have died in bandit attacks, when they wouldn't have if I hadn't been by myself."

Abel paused a moment and then grinned again. "The pay varies, depending on the job, but you earn enough to get by. My brother became a mercenary when our parents died, so I was raised in that life style. I've been a mercenary in this world for a couple years and have been almost everywhere. I know who and who cannot be trusted. Bottom line, I can tell you're looking for a job. I'm offering one. If you're still not sure, why don't you tag along with me on my next job? You can decide for sure after we finish it." Abel smiled at Grave and extended his hand. "Sound good to you?"

Kiote Deliven
&
Grave Yuion

Kiote was impressed, to be honest. Grave had put up a strong front of not being interested in all at being a mercenary, but Abel tried to reason with him anyways. In all, Kiote actually liked the idea. It essentially involved helping people in need, and, if Abel was right, they weren't going to just be thrown away as pawns in some war. This was looking good actually! Plus, Abel said he did work mainly for Learania and the place was good by Kiote's standards, much better than anywhere at home. And even though Kiote couldn't cut in to tell Abel right away that they knew about the guild, the fact remained that Kiote knew and actually liked the guild that Abel was referring to. They seemed like good people and had worked to save the kingdom... even though they had originally been labeled as bad when Kiote and Grave had first arrived.

Grave simply nodded his head at all Abel said, listening to the man's every word closely. Grave let Abel go all the way to the end before looking down at Abel's hand as it was held out. For a moment, Grave just raised his eyes to look at Abel before, much to Kiote's surprise, reaching out and shaking it. "I believe you. I'll work for your group, but this first job we take will decide how much reason I'll have to trust your words." It was a straightforward enough statement. Grave was going to decide with their first job if he was going to be willing to stay with the group or not.

"Well, I suppose that means we'll join your mercenary group then. As a bonus, it'll be nice to work for someone who knows their way around. I certainly don't know anything." Kiote said with a shrug of his shoulders. It was decided then. After looking for a job, they were actually going to take an occupation as mercenaries. Abel seemed to think highly of their skills, now Grave just needed to see about Abel's leadership.

Great General Wallace

~Melius est habere firmum semper patiatur EX pars malorum quam timens semper eventu~

Wallace

Wallace saw the spear heading towards him and knew that blocking the blow would be impossible with his spear so close to the ground. He also wasn't willing to crouch down to give himself time to move his spear up to block, that would give her the advantage in height. Nor did he know whether he could dodge quickly enough to evade the blow completely. So, he did something else. He matched Vaida's shout, dropped his spear, and charged so that his shoulder would hit her in the stomach and knock her to the ground where he could pin her easily. This move also moved him close within her reach so that her blow would do very little to him if it hit him and would also make her unable to block him from tackling her without dropping her spear as well.

Saifer Griimro

Having seen quite a few interesting things just by standing around near the table, Saifer was beginning to wonder just what kind of odd place this Eyris was. He'd already seen a few sub-human like creatures, among other colorful and/or shady looking people. Of course, he wasn't one to really talk about shady, since he himself looked pretty suspicious (or more specifically, well, thief-like).

Well, at least that would-be mugger left him alone. He hoped he wouldn't have to deal with something like that again. Still feeling uncomfortable, though, Saifer turned back around and addressed whoever was still at the Watch table. "Umm...so...where do I go? What do I do?" he asked again, timidly. He'd asked before, but still wasn't sure about what this Watch entailed.

Derrin Hasstorn

PostPosted: Fri Jul 01, 2011 10:05 am

Derrin was being kidnapped. That was the closest thing he could relate to this experience, "What? Ahh, y-you couldn't be an awful friend." All his arguments (and nearly his brain) were shut down by her beaming smile, that thing could be used as a weapon! Eventually she dragged him into the tailors shop.

He looked down at his feet and shrugged when she asked him what he was interested in "I like red, whats wrong with red?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Blossom smiled sheepishly as she thumbed through the racks, trying to find something that might look good on Derrin. Judging by a precursory glance, he'd need something that would compliment a solid build, his red hair... hmmm... "Well, yes, it would make me an awful friend if I didn't try to make up for it. That's why we're here! So start looking. It's on me."

She was busy removing a shirt from the rack and studying the pattern along the sleeves in curiosity when he spoke up, answering a previous question. "I like red, what's wrong with red?"

"Nothing is wrong with red! I just noticed you wear a lot of it. I guess it's a good thing red hair goes well with red clothing. Not all hair shades are that lucky." Blossom hummed and put the shirt back, removing a red copy, and held it out for Derrin to take. "Here, try this. Oh... um." She turned back to the rack and removed another red shirt from the rack of a different style and held it out as well. "This, too." She beamed at him, then turned back to the rack, running through it once more before moving onto a row of traveling cloaks hanging on the far wall. "I mean, I like red. I wear red, too! See?" She turned back to him and held her vest out a little from her body, displaying the red fabric, and pointed to the scrap of her father's scarf tied around one upper arm before looking back to the cloaks. "Maybe a red cloak... or a nice brown one, that'd go with just about anything... or black."
