Eight ((Junko is partnered with Siddie!)) Except Ren didn't have time to dwell on this fact, because in one swift instant the Nautical had switched targets, leaping towards Ren and landing on Rhys, tentacles sliding around his pet. The lepus gave a squawk of surprise and fear, wriggling frantically, and Ren reached out, hands latching around the creature.
"LET - GO!"
The screech was combined with Ren rearing back and kicking the beast as hard as he could, wings flapping in agitation and anger.
"DON'T TOUCH MY PETS YA DAMN b*****d!"

Siddie instinctively jumped back when the tentacles shot up out of the pit. "Junko!" she shouted. "Are you okay?" Stupid question! Of course the answer was no. She kicked at the stalk of the tentacle. "Let her go, you stupid thing!" Tox yelped, then rolled to his feet, ignoring the ugly, bruising ache blooming in his side. He'd get that thing for what it had done! He crouched and leaped up to fasten his teeth into a coil of tentacle, clinging with his forepaws and kicking with his legs. See? She was already winded and she'd barely run at all. Aoi didn't care, he kept chasing Tox until he suddenly heard Junko shriek with terror. He skid to a stop and turned around to see what had happened to the idiot. While she had been stopped the tentacle had come up and lifted her into the air, and that had been when she'd shrieked. Wh-what was going on?! This wasn't one of Riley's, and here she'd thought only Riley had purple tentacles! Someone heeeeeeelp! She wriggled around in the tentacle's grasp with a whine. Aoi growled, leaping into the air and latching onto the attacker with his teeth. ((Aoi's HP: 10 Damage to tentacle: 6))

Dragain The grip on Junko loosened ever so slightly as it was attacked; however, it still refused to let go of the ghoul. Instead, it swung out at its Minipet attackers - a little weaker than before, however; seems like it was trying not to sweep the poor things into the pit. Another tentacle rose from the pit and pinned Siddie to the sandy ground; it seems like she won't be able to help any time soon... She struggled, trying to force the tentacle to loosen enough to let her escape. Tox growled in irritation and pain as he was shaken off and whumped again. When he got back to his feet, he was limping noticeably; but he yipped in Aoi's direction and lunged to attack the tentacles again. What just happened? Before he could really settle again he suddenly found himself stumbling slightly as a tentacle hit him again. And then the other ghoul was pinned. ...Who the hell was going to feed him if everyone was stuck?! The minipet growled, his hair rising on end as he darted at the tentacle holding Junko in the air. Junko was still trying to get herself free, her hopes rising when it seemed it was getting looser and easier to move. Ohohoh! ((Aoi's HP: 8 Damage done: 5+ 5 = 10))

Then, it released both ghouls right on top of their Minipets - soft landing (relatively) for the ghouls, but not so pleasant for the poor Minipets now pinned under their owners; thankfully, it wasn't a long drop and damage was minimal. At least her landing was soft! Soft and noisy? Aoi had let out a shrill shriek as Junko landed right on top of him. The ghoul gasped and scrambled to her feet, her fingers pressed to her lips. Oh, Aoi! She was so sorry! She'd do something to make it up to him soon, but it seemed the minipet was nearly down and out for the count. Junko hopped on one foot for a moment to take off one of her sandals, chucking it at the tentacle that had been holding her with the pent up RAGE of being dropped on her own minipet after being molested by a tentacle. Dragain The tentacles recoiled at the relentless attacks... And then tossed something at the ghouls before vanishing back into the darkness of the pit. The something ended up being a FEAR Candy in the shape of a tentacle, wrapped in a piece of paper. On the piece of paper was the following words: If you got this piece of FEAR Candy, you're lucky! PLEASE ROLL 1 100-SIDED DICE TO CONTINUE! When the tentacles retreated into the pit, Siddie breathed a huge sigh of relief. Then she whirled around to find Tox and gather him up. "Oh, I'm so sorry, sweetie - here - you deserve this for being so brave." She fumbled a piece of his special candy out of her pocket and fed it to him. Then she looked up to Junko and Aoi. "Is Aoi okay?" she asked anxiously. Tox snapped weakly at Siddie's hand, but missed on purpose; then he was being smothered, but before he could gather up energy to fight it, there was one of his wonderful candies, right in front of his nose. He chewed on it and relaxed blissfully in Siddie's arms, feeling much better. "Now let me carry you," Siddie scolded him. She waited for Junko to check Aoi over and catch her breath, then started down the course again, rather more cautiously. (( Tox's HP: 3 + 9 = 12 - candy post ))

Truthfully, the plague doctor didn't want to go down any of the paths. Parassiti didn't either; the scrags set her claws into the floor and made grinding noises in the back of her throat. When Malodore stepped forward, the leash pulled taut - being smaller, Parassiti lost the minor tug-of-war, but she kept her legs braced and her claws dug in, leaving a line of scratches behind her.
Malodore rolled its eyes. Chances of the scrags using those claws on their future opponents...? It had absolutely no idea.
"Let's get this over with," it sighed, stepping forward onto the land path, dragging Parassiti behind it.

She read the note with a small hum. "I guess...if we come across something called a 'Nautical' we can throw this at them if we don't want to fight it." But they only got one treat? Hopefully they only came across one nautical. The treat was tucked into her obi for now before she bent down to pick up Aoi as well, and for once he didn't protest. He was already tired, the poor thing! "He'll be okay, I think...he's just really tired." She frowned, petting behind his ears and cradling the irritated foxsquirrel. Junko followed alongside Siddie, though not without nervously checking either side of them for any sign of another tentacle attack. ((8 steps? Really?!))
