[[ Ren, Obsidian, Arachne, Natalia, Temes, Ithilethiel ]]
"Erm," said Ren, glancing around at the group. He was somewhat disappointed that he wasn't with his ghoulfriend or best friends, but at least Natalia was here; that made one person he knew. Temes he remembered seeing vaguely, but the others were unfamiliar to him. Casting a glance around their motley little crew, he said "So, ah...who wants to, ah...start? I'm not good at cooking, and I'll, uh...wait to see what you guys do first."

[ROUND 1] Natalia pulled the chair out right next to Renaissance and cheerily greeted the boil, who not surprisingly looked a bit put off. "Missing the ghoulfriend over there, hmm?" she immediately teased, pressing her shoulder close against the gryphon before leaning forward onto the table. "Don't look so down-trodden, I'm here! We'll make this fun."
As she scanned the faces in the group, only one struck a familiar chord and to Arachne the werelemur nodded her head. Sure, they had experienced a moment during swim tryouts but that was then, and the seer hadn't done all that much to really stir Natalia up. After offering a brief wave and a bright smile to the rest, the ghoul cleared her throat. She assumed no one else wanted to mess this up first. "So...I guess I'll go ahead?"
Even though she didn't know what the hell they were doing, the lemur tried her best to conjure up something. Wringing her hands together, smoothening out her hair over the pot, nothing seemed to be working. She wondered if they literally had to pour liquid into the mixture--like spit, or pee...and while she thought on this, very hard at that, her long tail that wrapped around the table leg began to let off a slow trickling amount of FEAR. It sent tingles up her spine, and odd sensation to be felt indeed...but without another thought the lemur was squeezing at the fur. "Eww, Renaissance look at that!"
When the dripping seemed to stop, Natalia leaned against the back of her chair and shrugged. It seemed good enough to her.

[Round 1] Siddie took a seat at table 3; Tox curled up on her lap, grumbling softly under his breath at the irritation of having to change positions. How inconvenient. She glanced around the table. Nobody she knew, okay. But at least she wasn't the first one to put FEAR into the cauldron. She sighed faintly with relief as Natalia volunteered herself to go first, and extended her own arm to follow suit. How ... did one go about this, anyway? She concentrated, willing some of her shadow to drip into the vessel. Was that enough? No, it was going to be too much - she hastily stopped it. Tox flicked one ear up. That smelled good.

[ Round 1 ] Arachne wasn't greatly pleased with her group dynamic; she was relatively sure she'd been thrown in with four monsters, and she just hoped they wouldn't do anything to muck up the mixture in their cauldron.
She took the ladle (spoon? XD) up after two of the others had done so and stirred it, slipping a glove off and holding her bare hand above the cauldron. She concentrated and with a little shiver she felt some of her Fear slip quietly in.
Her Skitter crept along her shoulder, waving a leg at the other minipets, and watching. She put the stirring implement to one side for the next to have their go, pleased that it hadn't caused a negative effect; she had obviously done well.

[ Round 1 ]
Chuppi didn't know any of the people that she had the fortune of being grouped with, something that set the Chupacabra into a state of unease. Atop her head Blaise was mimicking the unhappiness and his unwillingness to be placed with strangers who were clearly far inferior to his greatness. After all, he was the only Fae Dragon while they were some kind of hodge podge of uselessness. He slowly lowered his head and nipped at the corner of Chuppi's eat, letting him get a good chunk before the girl responded.
"N...let's...just get this over with, si?"

The mixture bubbled as FEAR was put into it, turning orange, then brown, then... Was that a burning smell coming from the cauldron? With too little FEAR in it, the mixture had become unstable and Malcolm watched from the safety of his desk as the mixture splashed out onto the students, coating them with a cool liquid that quickly evaporated to form orange fumes, leaving the students dry again.
However, they would soon realize that the mixture had a 'parting gift' for each of them: Ren's and Natalia's hair were now a lovely shade of pink, Obsidian was covered in small purple spots the size of pumpkin seeds, Arachne has streaks of lime green in her hair, Temes' body was covered in red spots very much like chicken pox and Ithilethiel's hair was bright blue.
Furthermore, everyone smelt like burnt food.
"You'll stay that way for at least a day or you," Malcolm sounded less than pleased as he approached the table, Ayakashi perched on his head. Stopping, his golden eyes narrowed as he scanned the faces of everyone present - his stare was piercing, and he made good use of it. His attention was soon diverted as he watched the mixture in the cauldron drain away, and a new mixture pumped in. When that was done, he moved towards the table, grabbing hold of the stirrer and putting his own FEAR in. The mixture remained orange and it didn't take very long for the cauldron to stop bubbling, indicating that it was ready.
"You didn't put in enough FEAR and you didn't stir the mixture well... I wish to hear no excuses - I'm sure those of you who had gone to Christmas Land would realize that a group is only as strong as its weakest link." He addressed the group with a frown as Ayakashi hopped onto the table, walking around it and sniffing at all the students. He stopped at Ithilethiel and let out a call, wings twitching.
"And I see that there was one of you who didn't even try," He sounded more disappointed than upset as Ayakashi returned to his side, "Ithilethiel, you will be spending time with me after class today, together with the latecomers."
[OOC Note: Your mixture is now infused with Malcolm's FEAR and has a perfect score of 15. However, the next RP you are in, your student will be inflicted with the above. You may write a solo on it instead if you have no time for RP; it needs to be at least 300 words to count. I want the link by the next class!
Ithilethiel is down for a after-class activity with the latecomers as she didn't post an RP response. Ren did and started the group, so I'll be taking it as he did work ICly. Don't worry, it'll only take a few posts if you're lucky for the after class thing. xD]

Ren was not particularly bothered that his hair was pink. Though he'd been rather lazy in making the bubbling, oozing liquid that was now infused with Professor Malcom's FEAR, he supposed he could have maybe done more work.
Yes. He could have. He'd started off the group, at least, got everything set up. But while watching the others do their parts, Ren had started to drift off to sleep unintentionally, sitting at the table with his head in his hand. For the first time he hadn't meant to, but constantly staying up late did that to a person. Not that he had any intention of going to bed early, but he supposed he should at least attempt to stay awake in classes. He glanced around at his group, mildly amused at the fact they all now looked like a group of Gabrian's minipets - pink, purple, lime green, red, neon blue... Yep. They were quite the group.
"Well," said Ren, casting a sidelong glance at Natalia, arching a brow as he took in her bubblegum colored hair. "At least you and I match, darling."
Professor Malcom seemed somewhat disappointed in their group for not doing the work necessary, and it made Ren feel a tad awkward. He shuffled uncomfortably from one foot to the other, hoping they weren't about to fail the class; he had never failed a class, and he did not really want to start now. Mental note: STAY AWAKE next time. Or at least
"Sorry, Professor," Ren said, somewhat sheepishly, then turned to Arachne. "This is why my ghoulfriend always kicks me out of the kitchen when she's cooking," he murmured dryly to her, tugging at a strand of pink
Oh. Ingredients. Ren cringed a bit, eying the cauldron a little suspiciously. He wasn't entirely certain he would be able to do this; after all, he was not the best cook, nor did he really have an inkling as to what he was doing, but he would try his hardest.
That, and try to remember just what it was that Alessa did when she cooked. Ren stood over the tray of ingredients, scratching his head.
What to pick, what to pick...
"So," he said to no one in particular. "Anyone got any ideas?"

"All right," Ren said, rubbing his hands together as he stood in front of the ingredients table...and stared. He had not the slightest clue as to where to even start, glancing over at Rhys, who was sitting on top of the table. With a mildly exasperated sigh, Ren pushed his sleeves up, squaring his shoulders.
First things first. Ren set the saucepan on the stove, turning it to low, and then set the bag of carrots he had brought next to it. He eyed it for a second, then shrugged, dumping them into the pan instead. Glancing over at Professor Malcom's demonstration, Ren leaned over to where the FEAR mixture was and took out a generous scoopful, pouring it on top of the carrots in the pan. He wasn't entirely sure what he was doing; that, and the fact that he was the first person to try out this whole cooking thing, made it just slightly nerve wracking. Picking up the ingredients list, Ren skimmed over it, biting his lower lip absently.
"Brown sugar would go well with carrots, right," he murmured to himself, taking a spoonful of it and pouring it into the saucepan. It fizzled and bubbled for a moment, but then settled down. "What else, what else..."
Rhys had inched over now, staring abjectly into the pan as Ren sprinkled some granulated sugar over the carrots and then doused the entire thing in light corn syrup. One ear went up interestedly at the sugar, but then fell quickly back down, his expression looking vaguely horrified at the salted milk Ren mixed in with the rest, and then turned completely horrified at the lemon juice. The lepus let out a small whine, but Ren reached over, patting his head affectionately.
"Almost done, mischief maker," he said cheerfully, missing Rhys' disgusted face entirely. He debated on adding a scent to it, but changed his mind at the last moment, instead adding a big helping of food coloring to turn the whole mixture blue. Ren whipped his spoon around in the bowl, spinning everything around, and then proceeded to dump all of it onto a flat pan.

"Huh," he said, eying it. "That isn't quite how it's supposed to look, is it."
For a moment, Ren stood there, tapping his chin, but then he remembered that they were, in fact, supposed to roll them up. So he reached down, taking a handful of the mixture and patting it all together:

They looked less like balls of FEAR candy and more like odd colored snowmen, but Ren was pretty pleased about how they had turned out. The soft ball did not stay upright for long, however, and wilted rather quickly, to Ren's disappointment. But he shrugged, and continued making them until he had a whole little tray full of them. Happily he stepped back to admire his handiwork.
Rhys was still looking mortified.

Oh, no. How was she going to face the rest of her classes looking like this? Siddie stared at the spots on her arms and hands with horror. Maybe ... maybe they'd wash off? Or maybe she'd just hide in her room till they went away. She jerked to attention at the sound of Malcolm's voice, paying careful attention this time. She wouldn't fail again! The pan went onto the heating plate, and she poured in the cup of FEAR mixture. Then she stared with some trepidation at the tray of ingredients. How did one figure out the correct mixture? She'd - okay, she'd start with the sweet parts and then figure it out from there. Oh, right. Turning the stove on would help the procedure. Once she'd gotten the pan heating up, she picked out a spoonful of honey and dribbled it in, stirring carefully. She had had some small degree of experience with cooking - Mama had insisted that her girls learn to navigate a kitchen - but she'd never made candy. But she did know that she was supposed to blend the ingredients smoothly and stir constantly to avoid scorching it. Was honey enough to sweeten this amount of candy mixture? Probably not, she decided, and added brown sugar and a bit of maple syrup. Okay, binders. Tox liked heavy cream, she knew; that was an easy choice. Maybe one more for good measure - what was closest to cream? Oh, buttermilk would do. She stirred the ingredients in, sniffing cautiously at the pan. Did it smell ... burnt? No, wait. That was just her. She grimaced. But the mixture seemed to be fine. Tox jumped up beside the tray, stretching his neck over towards the pan with some interest. He smelled sugar and cream, and that could only mean good things. "Don't get too close, darling, it's hot," Siddie told the nergal schink, and pushed him back slightly. What, did she think he was stupid? Tox sniffed haughtily and settled down to watch the process from a safe distance. Siddie wasn't quite sure what cream of tartar was, and vinegar didn't really sound like something that would go well in candy; anyway, it would sour the cream, wouldn't it? She picked up the lemon half from the tray and squeezed lemon juice into the mix. There, that was good, and now she had all the essential ingredients in. Now for scent and color. Color was an easy enough decision; she'd match Tox's pretty green. She added equal amounts of blue and yellow into the mix to make it a nice bright green. She decided against the lavender scent almost immediately; Tox was laid-back and lazy enough as he was. Any more relaxed and he'd melt into a black and green puddle of schink. Instead she carefully stirred ylang ylang into the mix. Tox's ears perked. What was that smell? It interested him. Oh, and that bag his mistress was picking up - he sat up straight, tail flicking back and forth with agitation. Why was she pouring all his dried spiders into the pan?? He was going to chew up her favorite boots for this when they got home! "It'll be ready in a minute," Siddie assured Tox, and carefully dripped a spoonful of the mixture into the water. It formed a ball, just the way it was supposed to, and Siddie let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. Phew. She picked it out of the water and hesitated only a moment before shaping into a slightly lopsided but recognizable heart shape. "Because you're such a love," she told Tox cheerfully, and set about making the rest of the mix into individual candies, ending up with 19 hearts, all pretty much the same size. She turned the stove off, then picked up one of the candies and offered it to Tox. The schink got up with a lash of his tail and sniffed the candy several times before snatching it out of her hand and devouring it. Siddie giggled. "You like that?" Tox was in heaven. The green didn't quite match his own brilliant shade, and the shape was an abomination against minipetkind, but the smell ... the combination of lemon and that intoxicating SCENT was absolutely irresistible. It tasted fine, was a little too sticky, but he'd forgive all the faults in its manufacture for how delicious that SCENT was. He sprawled on the table, kicking at the air in bliss, utterly unaware, for the moment, of how ridiculous he looked. ((Mixture good: +5 Scent relevant: +1 Taste your minipet is neutral with: +0 Color your minipet likes: +1 Hardness your minipet hates: -1 Smell your minipet loves: +2 Shape your minipet hates: -1 Not a perfect batch: +0 If you draw out your Fear Candy: +2 Total: 9 ))
