"What the?..." Frost blinked in confusion, watching Izaya tumble along the ground in the side mirror. "I was joking," he muttered to himself, "but if you were going to take me seriously you could at least have done as I asked and closed the blasted door." Shaking his head Frost slowed the car right down as he entered the garage. He had been going rather more quickly than was kind to the poor machine over rough terrain for most of the trip, and as such he swung it around parked in a maintenance bay. Turning off the engine, Frost unbuckled his seatbelt and climbed cautiously out of the car. Ow. He was definitely in more pain than he had been this morning.

“Triage,” the slightly pallid but no longer ashen-faced Grunt called as the small crowd of medics advanced upon him. “I am not your priority. The man who was shot is outside; for some reason he decided to disembark early, I suspect the blood loss is affecting his mental capacity. You will go and see to him, and Xander will walk with me to the infirmary.” Get patched up, take whatever medicine they wanted him to take, shower, long nap. If he had the option he would fiddle with the order of those tasks somewhat but he did not have the option, so he would just have to make the best of it.

"Are you serious?" Claire asked from behind the group of medics, hands on her hips and her tone one of utter disbelief - disbelief that someone could be that stupid. "Ugh, why am I not even surprised? He got himself stuck under an Arcanine. An Arcanine. I think he did it on purpose too," she sighed, not caring at all whether the medics left the moron to rot or not. She hoped they didn't bother with him. Either way she didn't need their help, so if any bothered to try and come poke at her she would simply wave them away.

"You said you're alright though, Frost?" She asked after a moment, lowering her arms as she stepped around the group of medics. He didn't really look alright, but at least he hadn't been shot, trapped under an Arcanine, then jumped out of a moving car in the middle of the desert. Idiot.

“More or less,” Frost nodded, “certainly there is nothing terminally wrong with me; very minor flesh wound from being clipped by a bullet, and painful ribs. After a shower and some rest I am sure I shall be fine... Oh, yes,” a slight frown crossed the small man’s face, “I hardly registered that in all the confusion. I must have climbed right over him. How did he manage to extricate himself?”

Xander was approaching him. Xander liked him. Xander didn’t think that he was defective. Xander worried about him far more than was actually necessary. Izaya was a fool who he cared nothing for. His opinion wasn’t important, was wrong come to that. There was nothing wrong with him. He was just different. There was nothing wrong with that.

Frost hadn't looked so good when he stepped out of the vehicle. Xander was almost exactly two steps behind the medics on the way to Frost and just because they veered of in the direction of the door didn't mean he did. As he sped walked over to the older man he heard Claire talking about what Orihara had done and he shot her an incredulous look. "Are you kidding me? Stuck under an Arcanine?" he shook his head then looked back at Frost, giving him a thorough glace over. He gave him a small worried smile as he stepped up to him. "Lets get you to the infirmary, yeah?"

"Yes," she said with a sigh and roll of her eyes. "He tried to.. actually I don't know what was going through that dim little mind of his, but he slid right under it while it was being attacked and then didn't move, so of course when it fainted it fell right on top of him. Zeus picked it up using the move Strength and threw it down the outpost stairs," she explained, directing the last sentence to answer Frost's question. "The guy's a complete and total moron." The infirmary sounded like a good idea, though she had no need to go there, so accompanying the pair would be a bit superfluous. This Xander seemed to be handling things just fine, and he seemed like a friend of Frost's, so she didn't feel any need to go as well. "Alright, since you guys don't really need my help I'm going to go report into the higher ups about this, so I'll see you around," though she didn't really know when, but that wasn't a rather important point at the moment. "I hope you get better soon, Frost."

It didn't take long for the medics to discover Izaya; in fact, he hadn't wandered all that far at all. He decided it was less dangerous to keep the man he was avoiding in sight rather than attempting to get so far away that he wasn't certain of Xander's location. Once he was convinced that Frost and Xander were occupied with one another, he did as he was instructed by the assisting medical Rockets. Of course, this compliance was only on the condition that he could avoid the infirmary toward which the two roommates were headed.

Claire's voice drifted to him as he was escorted toward the garage, grinning musingly as the female talked about him behind his back. He listened as long as he was in earshot before he was led away. When he couldn't hear her any longer, however, there was nothing else to distract him from the agony in his back. The shock had worn off and the pain hit him full force. It was all he could do to keep quiet, unwilling to draw the attention of others as they entered the building.

Pretty soon it became difficult to walk on his own and with his consciousness slipping, the wounded Rocket was forced to rely on the medical assistants for support. Once they were in the proper facility, they had him lie on his stomach before administering painkillers and sedatives. This was just as well, because the pain had become nearly unbearable. At the lightest touch or movement, Izaya cried out in torment, gripping the bed he lay on as he fought to endure the sensations. Who knew being sent out to pick up some liquid soap would be so hazardous? he pondered with dark humor, shutting his eyes tight against the bright light they switched on above him. With damage like this, I can only guess what a proper mission or raid might consist of...

"...Xander." Frost looked blankly at the young man for a moment before looking down at his left arm. He had worn a suit today, because the windows of the car were not tinted and he hadn't thought it bright to drive around with a massive red R on his chest. This, however, meant that something tragic had happened. Though the wound to his arm was small and would be healed within a couple of weeks, his suit was ruined. "Blast," he muttered, inspecting the blood that stained the grey cloth with a scowl, "I liked this suit... Infirmary. Of course."

Nodding confirmation the small man turned towards the door and set off, and although he moved quite slowly and was still pale he was clearly steady on his feet. While externally he looked about as relaxed as he ever did (not very), his mind raced. He could have died or been arrested today. Izaya thought he was defective. Xander did not. He had meant to say something to Xander a while ago, in fact right after his ribs had initially been injured. He didn't want to die without having said it; it was one of those sentimental things that he didn't really know how to cope with but felt compelled to do all the same. Where was the logic? What was in a name?

"...Xander, you are probably more alert than I, is there anyone else around?"

"Well then I suppose we'll just have to get you another that looks like it." Xander said in regards to the suit. Honestly he was glad the suit seemed to have taken more damage then Frost's arm. He walked by the other man toward the infirmary, keeping his eyes on him to make sure he didn't need more help. At Frost's question he looked around them. They had already left the garage and were in a rather secluded hallway at the moment in time. "No. No one else is around at the moment, why?" he asked, turning his head so he could look more directly at Frost. Conrad and Zack, almost forgotten in her concern for his roommate, followed at their heels like a couple of guards.

The lack of a reply from either man was noted - not with any bitterness, since Frost was too busy looking rather pale and the younger, taller man was obviously very concerned about the blond grunt - so without another word Claire simply turned on her heel and headed towards the higher floors. She had no idea if the incident at the outpost had been reported yet, but it was imperative that the elites knew immediately before any others were sent on suicide missions to pick up more supplies from the outpost. Soap wasn't that important, after all, though it was hardly a time for jest. Lucere would not be pleased about this development - not in the least - that much was certain.

After taking a last glance around to make sure they really were alone, Frost looked up at Xander with a little smile that was almost warm. “In private, you can call me Snowy if you prefer to. It’s a little less austere, don’t you think?“

A big smile spread across Xander's face at Frost's words and he lightly chuckled. "Thank you." He said, knowing it was a big privilege to be able to call Frost anything other then his codename. "I will definitely remember that... Snowy." he said, trying out the new nickname after a quick glance to make sure again no one was around.

“You do that,” Frost nodded, his smile fading back to neutrality but his voice retaining the slightest hint of warmth. A friend. A proper friend. There was no logical reason for wanting one, allies were quite sufficient to ensure survival, but... But life wasn’t entirely about logic. It was dangerous to make emotional connections, it made you vulnerable and yet it made you feel good too. He was sore, bleeding slightly, his suit was ruined, and he hadn’t been this happy in years... Perhaps he would write to Dith one of these days. It would probably be safe to let him know he was alright at least.

“Now then,” Frost gave another nod, a more purposeful one this time, “let’s get to the infirmary and get me repaired, shall we?”

Xander still had the smile on his face as he nodded. "Indeed." he said before he continued walking Frost to the infirmary. Maybe today's disaster wasn't such a back thing after all...
