Ghaleon Elmerast, Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

"Well, if we go down the 'quest' route we could have two characters. One who befalls the temptations of greed and the other that finds the inner strength to move on in order to complete the quest. I mean it would come down to what motivates both characters to complete the quest, and which of them is more exploitable. Or reverse it and have the character who's motives are less than heroic find the inner strength to press forward, while the one who thought he was doing it for the right reasons comes to realize his reasons weren't as noble as he'd first thought... maybe I'm thinking to hard. But it would get two points across for the price of one story."
Ghaleon said with a half smile, he realized it couldn't be overly complicated, it had to be short or else they wouldn't be able to finish it all in time. It was due Friday after all..

"Okay start simple, if we assume we are doing the quest theme, what should the quest be?" Looking at what Nathaniel had written already.. 'Once upon a time, there was a..' "Monster? Magic Sword? Cursed Forest? Enchanted Castle?" He said trying to shout out random ideas to see if any of them caught Nathaniel's interest. "Just be sure to let me know if I end up 'stepping on your toes', I don't want to accidentally start causing problems after all." He said with a faint bit of worry in his voice.

Ginny watched her coil back after touching her stuff. She looked a bit concerned for a second, but then she replied "The Library. It was in the back some ways. Not in the restricted section, but still pretty far back. Although, there was some stuff in there I never needed to know... Yeesh, some of these ministers had nasty love lives..." She shuddered just thinking about it. "We could work on this assignment together if you like. You know, go out to the lake and work on it, or go back to the library or something." Hopefully Amelia would like the suggestion. She had nothing against Amelia using her notes. "And, I would still like to take that fieldtrip some time." She said with a smile. It would be a really great experience for her. Maybe they could ask Professor Reynolds some day, since he did work for the Ministry in the Auror department.

User ImageAmelia's eyes widened at the idea. "Really you wouldn't mind?" She glanced at Blaine, whom she was talking to in the first place, "Can the three of us work together?" She asked, barely beating around the bush. She did not want Blaine to be left out, especially since they had been at the same point a few moments ago. Hell, they still were at the same point. She glanced at Ginny, hoping she'd understand. It would have been a prime opportunity for them to hang out but she couldn't leave Blaine out of the loop. It just seemed too unfair. It had happened to her in the past before people realized she was smart, when they realized it, they always wanted her in their group, though they wouldn't do anything. It was another nice aspect of this school, everyone here seemed to be willing to work. It was impressive.

“He lives the poetry that he cannot write. The others write the poetry that they dare not realise.” - Oscar Wilde

Nathan appreciated Ghaleon's worries. They were both asking too many questions but it was only that perfectionist inside of them who wanted to do the best work possible. The assignment wasn't easy but they had a good time cooperating. "I like the idea of a hero who realize his intentions weren't quite so... Chivalrous." He looked at the nearly empty parchment. With only three half lines of text... They had a long road ahead of them. "So, how about that poetic thing ? I guess we could always just add lines and lines until we're satisfied. Like some game. Don't be afraid to take the reins." Nathaniel thought of Ghaleon's ideas and started scribbling some more.

Once upon a time, there was a boy.
Hero, that's what he wanted to be.
Looking for something he devised his ploy,
        To become all would plea.

And so he headed on his way,
        Hoping he'd do okay.
From under a rock, he heard a yelp.
"Yes, a cry for help !"

        [...]

        The End

"What do you think ?" he asked, finishing writing. He handed over his quill. "Don't worry about rhyming, I don't think it's necessary."

User Image "That would be nice," Blaine said, smiling. She'd always been the outcast, with her hair as bright as it was. She was grateful Amelia had asked her. "Could I use your notes, too?" she asked Ginny shyly. She tried to keep the blush down to a dull pink instead of the flaming red it usually was, and almost succeeded.

Ghaleon Elmerast, Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

Ghaleon knew that Nathaniel said not to worry to much about the rhyming but the story had already obviously started as such. He wasn't really that good at the whole thing but none the less gave it a shot from where his partner had left off. "You did a great job, I'll try my best to keep it going. Don't expect any masterpieces from me though." Ghaleon said with a smile.

His face became a rather large frown

This had been no man he was set to save
But something that belonged in a cave
It's skin was all wrong and leathery to boot
His feet looked like a tree, that had taken to root.

"Feel free to change the wording if it doesn't work to well." Ghaleon said looking a bit embarrassed at his workings. To be honest Ghaleon looked like he was about ready to laugh at himself now, wishing he'd taken some poetry lessons before now.

((How you wrote what you did that quickly, I simply can't wrap my head around. I've never been very good at poetry, especially not coming up with it on the spot this quickly. Seriously though feel free to change anything I did lol XD))

Ginny looked at Blaine for a moment. A smile inched across her face, and she nodded without another moments delay. "Of course she can! She's in my own house! And yes, you may use my notes too." Ginny had layed them all out infront of the girls, showing them what she had been taking notes on. She wasn't sure if they were sufficient enough to start the project, but she hoped.
"So here are the Notes I've been working on. I have some Others in my bag too, if you'd like to use those." She said with a smile to her friends.

User Image Blaine grinned back at Ginny as her blush started to go down. "Thanks," she said. "I probably would've failed it if I was working on my own. I'm not too good with research . . . Or actually doing whatever the assignment is for that matter," she added on.

“He lives the poetry that he cannot write. The others write the poetry that they dare not realise.” - Oscar Wilde

(Here's my secret: http://www.rhymezone.com/ Just ignore the ads on the sides xD I think the wording is great ! We're just poor second years students anyway, not Shakespeares and Baudelaires.)
If Nathaniel laughed, it was more of a chuckle. "Oh. That's cool. Some kind of weird creature ! Genius !" Nathaniel hadn't thought of it that way. It was a great idea. He took back his quill and continued.

Once upon a time, there was a boy.
Hero, that's what he wanted to be.

        -------

"Avast ! Who's there to disturb me ?"
"Weren't you stuck under this stone ?"
        "No, but look at you,
All young, all wrong; not even true !"

Boy looked at it in distress,
Wondering how he got into this mess.
"Trying to gain honor, rescuing a monster ?
        I'm not a damsel, I'm a disaster !"

With that said, he punished the lad,
        Since the boy wanted fame,
        The creature gave him game.
        Wouldn't that be rad ?

"Kind of an abrupt ending. I'm a noob for punishment. Got any ideas ? Our story lack a bit of substance but at least it a dead giveaway for how good deeds should be done." He scratched his head. It was hard writing this story.

Amelia Frances Joan

User ImageAmelia personally liked Blaine's hair. Though she preferred any to her own white locks. None the less, she could easily empathize with her, standing out, but being passed over because of it. Amelia smiled at Blaine, "It's great to have company when doing a project isn't it?" But then she remembered the one essential part. Leaning forward, she whispered what she realized; "Don't we need the professor's permission to work together?" Still, if they did their own pictures, it would probably be alright...probably. Amelia preferred to be sure.

Ghaleon Elmerast, Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

Ghaleon smiled a bit. "Well it was the first thing that came to mind." Then looking over the rest of what Nathaniel added to the story. "Well we do have a few more days, we could add more in between or change anything that's needed to be until the day it's due. If the whole creature thing is to much a problem we could change it to something else of course."

He looked over the story as a whole carefully trying to figure out what could be added in at the moment. Taking the quill he started to write a bit more down. Nothing said that poems had to be short after all right?

-------
This punishment was indeed quite horrible
The creature had made him look rather deplorable
Like this he could never be the best
It made him feel oh so depressed

The villagers would throw a fit
Because he had to admit
None would accept help from one such as him
The truth made his life start to look so grim

What was he to do
His dream was now threw
And now feeling rather down
He only hoped to not be thrown out of the town
-------

Ghaleon took a deep sigh "Well the only thing I can think of to add on now would be him helping someone back home in some round about way in which he doesn't even realize he's helped until it's over with. So that he essentially helps someone without the thought of fame behind it? So to give it a more happy ending perhaps? Well if it's to long we can also just cut off anything before presenting it." He paused for a moment. "I just hope I'm helping, this isn't really my 'thing' so to speak." He said with a smile.

Blaine frowned. Amelia was probably right. "Hold on, I'll ask," she said. "Hey, Professor?" she called out as she raised her arm. "Can Amelia, Ginny, and I work together? We'll actually get it done. Sadly, getting the assignment done was a problem when she had ever worked with someone.

(Isn't it turning into some version of Beastly ? lol.)
Nathaniel looked at the sheet. He knew it was time to end their story, or else they'd never finish. "Well, he gets punished because he only thought of himself when doing a good deed. It's supposed to be a selfless act. Since he looks so awful, it's time for him to get back to normal. I just want this to get done soon." With the truth being said, Nathaniel wrote the end.

User Image((Dang you guys are incredibly good at that. I'm very impressed.))

Amelia, never the artist but never willing to take the easy route either, started drawing out floors and labeling them. Then she paused, frowning.
"She only said the government part right? Does that just mean just the Senate? That it doesn't seem to be elected...and is mostly oligarchical? But the government regulations are part of the government too." shaking her head as she confused herself, she finished mapping out the various floors:

Amelia looked up from her outline after staring at it for a few moments. She'd copied from the notes, but thought it was a good start. Now she wasn't so sure. "I feel like I'm not going in the right direction with this..." she murmured aloud, starting to crumble the paper.

((Good point.. I really don't want that to happen >_> *Shivers* Well just make sure not to add a girl into the mix then lol and I'll try to wrap this up as best I can ^^))

Ghaleon Elmerast, Ravenclaw, 2nd Year

Ghaleon felt a bit bad over stretching it out even more. "Sorry man, I know you thought it was a little short when we first finished. So I thought it would be better to make it longer. But after I'm finished if you happen to find a better cut off point in what we've already written feel free to cut the parchment." Ghaleon said, he picked up the quill and thought for a little bit before adding more ink to the story.

Once upon a time, there was a boy.
Hero, that's what he wanted to be.
Looking for something he devised his ploy,
To become all would plea.

And so he headed on his way,
Hoping he'd do okay.
From under a rock, he heard a yelp.
"Yes, a cry for help !"

---

He moved the rock away from the man
As he did he thought up a plan
But one look and a glance down
His face became a rather large frown

This had been no man he was set to save
But something that belonged in a cave
It's skin was all wrong and leathery to boot
His feet looked like a tree, that had taken to root.

---

"Avast ! Who's there to disturb me ?"
"Weren't you stuck under this stone ?"
"No, but look at you,
All young, all wrong; not even true !"

Boy looked at it in distress,
Wondering how he got into this mess.
"Trying to gain honor, rescuing a monster ?
I'm not a damsel, I'm a disaster !"

With that said, he punished the lad,
Since the boy wanted fame,
The creature gave him game.
Wouldn't that be rad ?

---

His punishment was indeed quite horrible
The creature had made him look rather deplorable
Like this he could never be the best
It made him feel oh so depressed

The villagers would throw a fit
Because he had to admit
None would accept help from one such as him
The truth made his life start to look so grim

What was he to do
His dream was now threw
And now feeling rather down
He only hoped to not be thrown out of the town

---

He hid his face under a hood,
He got back to his neighborhood.
"Stranger, could you deliver these ?"
"Fine, as if I had someone to please."

Glum, he headed to an inn
"Ah ! Where has this been ?"
Said the keeper, in glee.
"This is what someone gave me."

---

He gave up the package and asked no reward
And for this the innkeeper was certainly floored
He waved to the man who hid his face
And he left the building without a trace

Days passed by and small deeds were done
It always left people in a rather large stun
He never showed himself, nor asking for things in turn
A down always down had a rather large upturn

Days turned to weeks into months, and then into years
The boy now a man, had left behind his tears
Until the day he herd a knock upon his door
He opened it up and saw a rather strange glare

The creature he remembered that had made him this way
"I never expected to see such a display"
"Selfless you became, no longer glory you sought"
"Even though you felt quite distraught"

"So I give you my word when you awake this next day"
"That you will be able to come out of the fray"
"Let the people see you for what you really are"
"You just have to wait for the coming morning star"

He went straight to bed not wanting to wait
They'd all see him, praise him, and he could even get a date
But something just didn't feel so right
In all these years he's lived through this plight

When the next morning came and he entered the town
While human he now was he never let his hood stay down
He would be a hero in the eyes of the people
Even if they never knew his name was John Steeple

Ghaleon had no clue where the name came from, simply trying to make this thing rhyme. He looked to his partner to see if he thought the ending was alright. It was more than he'd expected to write of course, but it could be finished, Nathaniel could still add a few more lines if he wished or leave it as is ether way Ghaleon figured they were finally finished.
