Just as the air seemed to grow clearer, and the sobs recede, a dense wall of fog rolls over the cornfields once more. And the sobbing returns, louder and coming toward the troubled group.

Shooing Calder away wasn't going to be easy. The boil was terrified, shaken still from the sight of seeing his best friend cut up and then disappearing. That image was still fresh in his mind and it prevented Calder from just skipping on in his own little way. For all the times Calder has been there for Christof when he had been lost and unsure, it was now Calder's turn. The white-haired boil was shooed away, and that alone made him look rather hurt, but as soon as Christof started to get down and move ahead, taking the lead, Calder was there, and grabbed his wrist. He didn't need to say it, or he hoped he didn't, as he just looked with wide eyes at the Igor in a way that said he not only didn't want the patchwork to leave without him, but that he wasn't leaving him out of his sight.

Both hands clung to the Igor's arm, looking at him with boy concern and worry. He didn't want to be left behind, alone, or be responsible for hurting him, and he also didn't want to turn around and see him gone, taken by the myserious ghost kid.

Nope. Calder was going to stay GLUED to Christof's side.

Just then, the crying came back along with the fog, and Calder squeezed the Igor's hand. A long, drawn out hrose whine came from the kepie as he curled in. "It's going to come back and cut people up for candy!" He cried. He wasn't going to be separated. "I told you I'm not crazy!"

Tybalt followed the group, choosing to remain quiet and keeping a wary eye on their surroundings.

He didn't like that the sobbing was growing louder. Nor that the fog was growing thicker. Not one bit. It didn't help that the kelpie was starting to panic again. Though now that he thought about it, perhaps Calder hadn't hallucinated after all... How else could he explain that sobbing? Which might he add, that they were all hearing. If it was something that the Kelpie's mind had whipped up, no one by Calder would he hearing it now, or before for that matter.

As the fog rolled in, Christof kept a firm grip on Barth's arm. If he fell asleep now, they'd never find him in this thick- He flinched, Calder's hand suddenly gripping his own just as the wails picked up their fervor. He snorted, about to shake the Kelpie free, but really they didn't want to get separated... already the others were vanishing from view. Hell's Bells. Just... keep going. Maybe back to the path?

He didn't know which way that was, unfortunately. Frustrated, now, he stormed forward. There couldn't just be an INFINITE Cornfield, right? It had to come to an end somewhere, and with any luck they'd run into his Mistress who could hopefully put some sense into both of his companions.

Keeping a firm hold on either companion, he took the initiative to drag both of them further between the stalks. You couldn't find your way out while standing still, despite what Barth might protest.

"Fog's back," Barth said uneasily, dragging his feet. "You err, you hear where all that's coming from, Tybalt?"

He knew Tybalt vaguely from the Christmas Play. Now going into the corn seemed less of a good idea, although in his defense, he had been dragged through most of it.

"I think...I think it'd be better if we found the edge of the field."

The sobbing steadily rises until it's right beside them and...suddenly it's quiet. Almost as if it's considering something. But before anyone can react, a cold, damp hand suddenly clamps down on Calder's arm.

"Calder...y-you're....you're Calder, right?" A teary eyed and possibly familiar looking girl stares up at him as she stutters on with a faint look of hope. "You can..h-he-help me, right?"

The words help me echo through the fog, repeated over and over in soft, desperate whispers.

Calder felt the hand. Cold. Damp. Usually that was comforting. Cold and damp was like a comforting river, but this was nothing close to it. His hand squeezed Christof's in a death grip and turning his head like a rusty hidge, Calder looked down at a little child and whined.

A stifled whine dragged out as he looked at her, trying NOT to see what he was seeing. ".....yes.....I'm Calder....but I don't have any more candy." He wanted to cry again. He wanted to run. His ears were pasted now against his head as he backed into Christof. still holding the Igor's arm for dear life while the other the hooded child was holding was held out away from him. "....you're not like the ghost, are you? He helped by using a knife. You're not going to hurt anyone?......I don't know what you all want. I didn't do anything." He started to let out small, equestrian whines as he backed further into the Igor, keeping the girl ahead of him and holding his arm out. WHY WAS SHE HOLDING ONTO HIM?!!!

Tears welled up in her eyes as he backed away, "I-I just want to ho-home." The small figure began to tremble, as if trying to keep from sobbing again, "I-I-I know we weren't...close...but...we're classmates at least?" Her head dropped, and posture slumped a bit, as if that small bit of hope was draining out of her. Even so...the grip on his arm never weakened.

"I...I helped you...during detention! Well...tried to..." Her hand tightened, and she lifted her head to gaze at the rest of the group, "Please...I'll...I'll try not to get anyone hurt?"

Calder paused, glancing about, and looked back to her. They were classmates? He didn't recall seeing her before, but then again, there were a lot of students and he wasn't the most observant monster in the world. His memory wasn't too stellar either, but she mentioned helping him in detention. "You were in detention with me?" Seeing as there were only two he ever went with, one where they suffered a horrible bathroom battle with gnomes and another where he nearly drowned Lizzy, he guessed if she still wanted to talk to him, she was a little okay.

Tapping one hoof in indecision, he slowly moved closer to her, not releasing his grip Christof, but at least easing closer to her. "Sorry. I didn't recognize you." Ears pulling themselves up, he knelt down a bit and tried to catch her eyes. Part of him was still jumpy, still worried that she might sprout 6 heads and eat his face off, but another part of him was hopeful. He wanted out of this place and if she knew anything, he wanted to know. That or just to join their group. There was safety in numbers it seemed as long as the fog didn't separate them.

"I want to go home too." He glanced back at his group to see what they thought or if they could even SEE her (He hoped so. He hoped he wasn't crazy and talking to himself.), and then back to her. "Were you on a ship that crashed too? We're heading through the cornfield. Do you want to come with us?"

Tybalt shook his head at the sloth demon.

"Not really. It's almost like it's moving." He replied, with a shrug. Though shuddered when the sobbing grew louder, up until the point that it sounded like it was right beside them.

It was.

There it was, in the form of a girl. A girl with teary eyes and who had hold of Calder's arm.

"Is this your ghost?" He asked. "She doesn't really look like a ghost. If anything, she kind of reminds me of Emily."

Her eyes brightened at the kelpie's response though his questions seemed to confuse her, "You mean...we're there? This...this is the fieldtrip? I thought we were supposed to get on a train." She flushed and stared down at the ground for a moment, as if she had done something terribly wrong. "S-sorry..I didn't take a boat...but I would like to come with you if I can, please!"

Hearing her name, she head lifted again, "Oh...Tybalt! Hi! Then it's really okay?"

"Emily? You, err, both know...?" She was dressed in something that looked suspiciously cloakish. Barth also didn't remember her from detention, but then again, he had been busy avoiding doing laundry.

"Bartholomew Mudd," he volunteered, "and now that we're introduced, I'd like to reassert that it is getting uncomfortably foggy. ...Christof, if you continue to yank my arm I'll....I'll err, be very unhappy about it."

What had that cloak said earlier about groups?

The hunchback had been prepared for battle, already trying to wrestle his hand free of the Kelpie to grab his weapon, but Calder's grip was firm. At least it gave the small ghoul a chance to speak... the others knew her? There were a lot of students the quiet boil hadn't met yet, and he trusted his comrades' memory but... why was she in a robe?

Christof didn't know any Emily, couldn't judge how close she acted to his friends' memories but even so he glowered from over the kelpie's shoulder, eyes narrowing analytically for any signs that would betray her. Either she had somehow found herself here naked and snatched a robe from a sleeping Reaper... or that uniform meant something more ominous. He elected to let go of Barth at least, at the sound of his protest, and reach for his pipe.... just in case.

"Eh!? So then... you're really Emily?"

That explained the crying.

"She's from Amityville academy, like us. I only met her a couple times. Once in the other bathroom and the other in Hellma's class. She was the one passing out those weird candy things." He explained to the sloth demon and the patchwork boil.

But really... This was weird. Why was she here? He didn't see her name on any of the boat listings... And she had said she hadn't taken a boat...

"How did you get on the island if you didn't take a boat?" He asked; confused. This was making his brain hurt. The black dog was not the thinking type and all these new unanswered questions that were arising were proving that point.

"Eh whatever... I don't see a problem with you tagging along. It's fine with me."

The Other Bathroom memory made him shudder. It was probably his desperation to block out that detention that made him forget of the little ghoul that had been helping Shek out during that time. He hadn't met her since, and hadn't spoken to her much during that time. It was hard to remember someone you had met a while ago. Still, if she was a student, she was probably crying because she was lost and alone. Calder knew the feeling, and he wasn't about to just up and leave her. "Well, she's not the ghost boil." He hoped she didn't take it as too insulting that he could barely remember her. He was just jumpy and really on edge. His heart was still racing in his chest, trying to tell him to just run.

Still, something just didn't feel right here. Being paranoid made it very hard to trust strangers, and he looked to Emily with a bit of worry. "We didn't go on a train, Emily. That was....way back when on our first field trip. We went on a boat this time. Weren't you at the auditorium for the Spring Break announcement?" This all felt a little too strange, and the fog was still rolling in.

Well, either way, they had to move. Calder looked over to them all. "Okay. Let's get going...I guess. I don't want to be here when the little boil ghost comes around."
