Oh! A text back already! Junko read it and giggled. Yay Jove! She was glad to hear he was doing alright, and that Seiji wanted to see her soon. That made her feel better about her flub from earlier. Junko really hoped she didn't just get him in trouble for something that was her idea...
Junko hadn't noticed Riley following her or that she was even in the room until she said something, jumping a little as she suddenly spoke. Secrets? Um, oka--oh. Those kinds of secrets. The ghoul frowned and glanced back toward Her as Riley spoke of their food shortage. "They didn't let me bring any snacks of my own either for Her...She's...She's really angry." Junko frowned and rubbed at the back of her neck, nodding quietly with Riley. She made a good point. How Riley had gotten thrown overboard was unsettling; it was so sudden and random, it could have been anyone.
She bit her lip for a moment and looked rather nervous for more than a few reasons. "Riley? Um...can...could you do something for me?" She asked quietly, not wanting to risk anyone trying to listen in from outside the room. Could they? She had no idea. Would they? Again, she had no idea. But she didn't want to risk it. This was very personal, and she wanted Riley's help with it. She could feel The Mistress' anger starting to make her twitchy, and she didn't like it. She was even angrier this time because this was the second time this was happening, and this time Junko had no food to feed Her.

Riley blinked as Junko's question caught her by surprise. She had been a little preoccupied in trying to figure out ways to make the trip safer, that she hadn't expected a question like that. Her attention now fully focused on Junko. Of course, Junko. You need only but ask. The ghoul seemed nervous.. what could have her suddenly worried like this? Riley was intrigued.

This was embarrassing. She didn't like hinting that Junko could effect Her, or that She could influence Junko in some way either. It would imply they were as much one entity as Junko did not want anyone to know they were. Would people still like her if they realized She really was just the negative half of Junko's personality, essentially? "She's a lot...angrier right now than She was when we went to Christmas Town. Because of, well.." Junko flipped a piece of her own hair. Normally the hair would have wrapped around her fingers or something but this time it just fell like normal hair. The Mistress growled. "And then there's the lack of food...my own discomfort over not being able to shower...She's quiet right now, and that's actually scarier than when She's talking! A..and well..."
Junko frowned and scratched at her cheek. "We share a mind and...last time this happened it made me a little...eh...you know I nearly punched Nukpana in the face while we were in Christmas Town? I would never even think of doing something like that normally!" She wrung her fingers together and ducked her head a little. "So I was wondering if...you could maybe...help me? Help me not do or say anything I'll regret, I mean." She stopped playing with her fingers to rub unhappily at her arm. Ugh, she felt so gross. And unhappy. And...ugh. She was glad she wasn't on the deck right now around that Sarias ghoul, or else her irritation over her treatment toward sweet Chuppi would just get worse and worse...

Her. Riley's eyes immediately lifted to Junko's hair for a moment, before dropping back down. Riley's interest in the mental mechanics behind the second being Junko shared a brain with were immediately triggered. It was such a delicious idea, and Riley was so hungry.. for information. She scooted a little closer, and bent her head back to get a better look at Her.
You nearly punched Nuk in the face? Riley repeated, amusing filtering clearly through her voice. The image was adorable to picture. Are you sure that was Her influence? Nuk frequently says things that could deserve a punch or two. Plus, he's hardy. He can handle it.
Riley leaned forward, bending slightly to look into Junko's eyes. But as for your request, I will help you. You may help me, in return. It we continue onward like this, I fear hunger will start to wear away at all of our sanities, not just your own. Riley's eyes crescented softly. You can make sure no one angers me so thoroughly that I decide to sate my hunger on them. Agreed? We shall temper one another in troubling times.

Junko blushed and nodded a little at the question. If he hadn't been attacked by a creature before she had the chance she surely would have hit him! Though she frowned a little when the question of whose influence it was came into question, feeling it was fully Her influence that made her want to hit someone. Junko never hit. She was taught it was unruly and just because one was a monster didn't mean they always had to be a monster, so she didn't like to go the route of violence if she could help it. She didn't like fighting. "He is really annoying. But I would never want to hit someone! Even when Mei-xiu tried to kick me in the head I didn't want to fight!" Instead she ran!
She didn't lean away as Riley came close to look her in the eye, but she looked very grateful when she agreed to help her. Oh thank Jack! She was so happy! Oh, help in return! Of course! Junko listened to her request, nodding quietly in agreement. So many days at sea, everyone was bound to start to get...testy. "Sate..your hunger on them?" She blinked, looking a little confused. "Alright! Oh...um...you're not going to try to mark me again, are you?" Junko frowned a little. It had been bothersome when she did it in secret, basically tricking her into it, but she was over that! She still didn't want to be marked for confiding in Riley like this though.

Riley cringed slightly when Junko revealed that someone had attempted to kick her in the head. She couldn't remember meeting a Mei-Xiu, but whoever it was had just earned a little negative attention from Riley.
That thought flew right out of her mind when Junko asked her not to try and mark her again. A tumult of thoughts tumbled through Riley's mind all at once.
She flared in anger at being reminded of Sin's disgraceful betrayal, but her face showed no trace of anger. Instead, her eyes opened wide, filled with hurt. Why Junko, when did I ever try to mark you? She asked quietly, carefully. She had slowly backed away as she did so, hitting her mark when it came to acting as though she was truly insulted at the implication. I would never do that without your consent.. marking is a mutual pact. What made you think I tried to mark you?

Had...has Sin been wrong? Junko blinked and watched as Riley looked offended and hurt, remorse hitting her in the gut like a sucker punch.
She fell for the act hook line and sinker.
So Riley hadn't really tried to mark her? Was Sin wrong? Was she lying? No, she wasn't lying. Demons really could mark people! So had Riley not really been trying to mark her? She wasn't so sure now. Junko...Junko wasn't sure what to believe! She felt truly bad though for making Riley feel bad for her terrible, terrible assumption. "I'm sorry! I-I'm so sorry I...it's just that...I..." She frowned more. "I'm sorry I assumed you were...I...it's just when you gave me your boo--oh! Your boots! I still have those..if you want them back." A stupid change of subject, but this was Junko we're talking about here.

Riley's eyes bent in a crestfallen expression. I am hurt, Junko. Am I not your friend? I offered you my boots at that dreaded Christmastown because I did not want you to get frostbite, and I didn't need them. I'm not even sure why you would think..
She sighed deeply. This is the problem with being a demon. You can't even shake someone's hand and do something nice, without being accused for it. Of course, that was because no one should ever trust a demon, but she obviously held her tongue on that thought. I suppose I'll come by after the trip to pick them up, if you have no further use for them. That is.. if you still trust me in your presence to do so. And the award for best guilt trip goes to..
How did you come to the conclusion that I had tried to mark you, by the way? What experience do you have of the act? Did.. did someone mark you in the past, Junko? Riley looked genuinely concerned.

"B-but you are! It's just--I mean--and...I..." She felt truly bad. She didn't want to hurt Riley! Just...Sin had made a good point. Junko didn't normally shake hands with people! She'd felt so stupid. She sunk down a little as she felt worse and worse. It was working. Junko felt so guilty now. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed, I mean, normally I..what?" What?! Whatwhatwhat?! Trust her?! But...what?! That...that wasn't true! Of course she trusted Riley! Junko's eyes were wide and shock was clear on ever inch of her face. How could Riley think she didn't trust her?! She was still here, right? That didn't even make sense!
When asked how she figured this all out she winced and linked her own fingers together, wringing her hands and shaking her head at the suggestion of someone marking her. "No, no...I've never been marked before. Just someone...when I told them we shook hands they got a little..panicked."

Junko's choppy retreat was enough to assure Riley that she did feel bad about her assumption, and began to relax. She reached down and collected Junko's hand in her own, interlocking their fingers gently. Her eyes were crescented in soft affection. Well. I suppose I can sort of understand someone being wary of me.. I was new, after all. I didn't know many people.. and they didn't know me. Whoever made you doubt me was looking out for your best interests.. they were simply mistaken, is all. Who was it, anyway?
She squeezed Junko's hand lightly. See? I can hold your hand all I want, and as far as I can tell, I am most definitely not marking you. The weak touch of amusement in her voice signalled the end of her melancholy.

That made sense. She was very new at the time, and she wasn't sure if Sin had even ever met Riley before. She frowned again and sighed, nodding a little. Okay it made sense. She gave Riley's hand a little squeeze and bringing her legs up on the bed to lean against the mindflayer. "I guess. Who...um...I'm not sure if I should say?" She didn't want to get Sin in trouble. She couldn't just rat her ou--
"That b***h Sin." She growled angrily, not caring that it wasn't how Junko felt. But if Junko was going to beat around the bush when someone wanted an answer, She wasn't going to let that happen. Not right now. Oh, Jack no. Junko whined and reached back to slap a hand over Her mouth.
"Stop that!" She scolded her, blinking and looking down when Riley squeezed her hand and spoke again. Huh? Wh..oh...well of course! She knew that. She held hands with Yaya sometimes and...okay. She still felt bad but...as long as Riley was okay? Junko put her head on the mindflayer's shoulder, sighing. She felt a little better now that she could hear a bit more amusement than offense. Riley was very good at getting Junko flustered!

And there it was. Luckily, She hadn't truly ratted Sin out at all - Riley knew full well who had been the one to make Junko aware of marks. She simply had her reasons for wanting Junko to admit it out loud - or, in this fortunate case, it was She who did the admitting. Score one for Her. Riley turned sad eyes to Junko, and then reached over and scooped the smaller ghoul up in her arms. She placed Junko in her lap, and held her there in a motherly embrace.
Now, Junko. You just said you trusted me. That means being honest. Don't worry so much - Sin was just looking out for you, wasn't she? That's nothing to be ashamed of. Besides.. Riley brushed her hand against Junko's hair, though she took special care to steer clear of the mouth. We've promised to look out for one another on this trip. If we're going to do that, we have to be completely honest with one another. She pressed Junko's head against her chest, and rocked the ghoul softly. Only then can we keep each other safe.

The suddenly lift and embrace made her squeak and she slipped her arms around Riley to cling to her, blinking a bit and looking up at the mindflayer. She'd never seen her do this before! It was nice, comforting. She smiled and nuzzled her head against Riley, hugging her tightly. She'd never hugged Riley before! And yes, she did trust Riley. She really, truly did! And that was true, Sin was looking out for her...they were friends! As her hair was pet she giggled and closed her eyes; normally this was an action that would have her panicking but for now it was alright considering her hair wasn't going to be grabbing and trying to strangle anyone for awhile. Thank Jack!
"Okay~. I'm sorry, Riley. I was just worried of maybe getting in trouble like I think I did Seiji." Junko pouted a little, moving with Riley as she rocked her. Okay. Honesty. She could do that. "I really didn't think there was anything wrong with it...it's not like he tried to do anything." All he did was hold her, and they cuddled. That was it. "So you really don't sleep with Malodore ever?"

Trouble, like she did with Seiji? Riley quirked her head and listened carefully, cringing lightly when Junko mentioned Malodore again. It reminded her that she hadn't heard from it yet, although she hadn't checked her phone - and she was not going to indulge her soft and squishy need to check her messages. She would be strong. Besides, she had some explaining to do. Where I am from, we are taught very carefully about what is proper, and improper, behavior. It is considered improper to spend the night in the same room as someone you are not mated with. In fact, it is only in the act of mating that our kind would sleep in the same bed. It is just.. how it is.
Riley looked away for a moment, before nodding her head. So no, I do not share a bed with Malodore. She wasn't quite sure if the conversation was headed in the right direction anymore, which disconcerted her.
