With the bronze and gold finally looking for theirs and the arrival of the large brown there were quite a few hatchlings roaming about an Mercy was having trouble trying to keep her eyes on all of them so that she didn't miss anything important. Her eyes following one an then another as she tried to keep up with them all.

She grins over the gold dragonet's frustration and the little brown's as he hatches and immediately gets sand flung on him. Poor boy! Some were just so impatient weren't they? At least now it seemed the gold and bronze were moving away from the egg and towards the candidates. That was a good sign. Wykla tries to keep an eye on them all.

It seemed the Hatching was nearly over. Three eggs remained… though none of them showed any signs of movement. A gold, a bronze, a brown, and a green were wandering the sands in search of Theirs. However, someone seemed to have caught the green’s attention as she found, and made a beeline for, Alirien. Mine! Mine! Your Zinth was looking for you! Yours is hungry Mine! Can we eat together? Large swirling eyes met his and she rustled her wings, all happy warmth and affection.

Alurel had been considering and pondering the dragons movements all within the quiet of his mind. He could anticipate what they might do but these thoughts were all speculation rather than sound conclusions. And while the answers eluded him, he knew that the Weyr needed these dragons to impress. Sometimes he wondered if the process of decision making was more difficult when the shell cracked due to some shock. The questions again demanded answers but even as he stared off across the sands, no answer was forth coming. Everyone was caught in wait now that three dragons were taking their time.
Although, in his pondering, he hadn't seen the blue starting to move through the crowd of boys until a glint of the color caught his retinas. The sight caught his eyes as the dragon stopped before another boy and looked up in to his eyes. Alurel sighed hopeful that the boy was the lucky one and might encourage the gold and bronze to make steps. However, the dragon started lowering his head and that scared Alurel. His lips pressed knowing that if the dragon went between there would be...nothing he could do. "Don't." he whispered praying that everything would...
But then the strangest thing happened and the little blue rolled on to his back looking right over at him.
Alurel, Your Pumuth does not like thinking games when he is hungry. Come feed me?
For once, the boy who usually was deep in thought was at a loss for one for but a second, as a wave of relief washed over him and the surprise of the words in his head. He walked forward to the dragon while that slight pout took his heart completely.
"Pumuth, I'd be happy to feed you." He knelt down and ran his fingers along the edge of the dragonet's cheek. "They've got food over there just for you. Let's go." His fingers rubbed right over Pumuth's tummy with an affectionate tickle.
How he got so lucky, he didn't know. Maybe this was one question he'd never know an answer to.
The dragon's pout turned into more of an elated smile with a little happy snort. I'm sorry I worried you. But everything is fine now! Oh? It's over there? The small blue rolled back on to his feet and folded up his wings leaning a bit against his newfound rider. A much happier dragon to say the least.
Alurel placed a hand upon Pumuth feeling immediate warmth and that realization he finally had a connection to something which would last all his life...'family' in a very unique way.
They slowly made their way across the grounds and Alurel took a few glances at the other boys and girls quietly wishing them the best of luck. Meeting eyes of only a few, knowing that the hope they had was one he had known just moments before Pumuth made his choice.
Once they arrived at the food the dragon settled down and waited for Alurel...now A'urel as he took up a portion of the meat and started to carefully feed his hungry Pumuth.

It was very hard to stand still and watch the dragons roaming about the Sands. For every Impression there was a smile, but they grew sharper and sharper as the blues and greens paired off with their lucky new weyrmates. It wasn't being a sore loser, but it was not even remotely easy to bear the growing tension on the Grounds. There were a bronze and gold prowling, refusing to Impress. Inaari had heard stories about dragons that went between if they did not find Theirs at a Hatching.
But that would have already happened if it was going to, right? The idea of the pretty little gold and her brother vanishing into the bleak nothingness was absolutely intolerable, and willing them both to pick someone, anyone! didn't have to be her either!, her hand squeezed Therion's lightly. It was, however, somewhat amusing that the gold would be so concerned with her clutchmates. It was almost as if she was going around and waking them all up for their lives, and a nervous but amused giggle trickled on the heels of the squeeze.
It grew into a full-on laugh as the little green tumbled from her shell to stand and act as if had all been planned and was all part of her entrance! The whole clutch was full of varying personalities, from the charming and sometimes playful greens, the dueling blues, and that incredibly paternal bronze and gold pair. Really, the brunette wondered if Hatchings were all like this, but felt that the great queen who'd clutched them should be proud. Certainly no two of her siblings were alike, and that was a good thing!

Only a few eggs left now. She didn't think this would take much longer. Then they would all be allowed to go back to bed. Wykla tries to hide a yawn; as excited as she was from the hatching it was still pretty late.
As dragonets continued to Impress and none of them to her a sinking suspicion in her mind came to the fore. Was her dragon truly here? Oh the queen was coming towards the girls now. But she, Wykla, surely wouldn't Impress her. It was only after all her first Standing, the chances of finding Hers here was very very slim she reckoned. Still it didn't hurt, her fingers cross in hope.

Only a few eggs left now, and no signs of them hatching... A few unmoving eggs... small eggs... His heart gave a funny little flip-flop.
Atypicals.
It was too soon to be confident. Definitely too soon. Probably they'd all three hatch into greens and go Impress pretty ladies and then he would feel very dumb. But Soldekai had to admit, the thought of seeing one of those atypical Impressions up close was intense.
No time to get distracted, though. Still three dragonets wandering the sands, and one a Gold. He didn't know too many of the remaining girls Standing, and he found himself wondering what kind of girl this hatchling was looking for. Probably one like herself; this gold seemed to have a strong sense of how things ought to be. Well, no use speculating about strangers. But the tension was getting unbearable!

Zeren watched as the little green Impressed *lucky lad she's sweet* he thought, turning his attention, realistically, to the Brown and the unhatched Eggs, maybe they were Duds? he didn't know, they'd find out soon enough anyway, once the Hatchlings still on the sands Impressed Theirs.

Sevya grunted as the green settled on a choice of rider. Not many left. She had no doubt that she was sharing the same thoughts as the rest of the waiting candidates. Who would impress? Who would be left? Would it be me?
The harper gave a shrug. A little bit longer, and she could go back to her scribing. She had kept her part of the bargain and stood; she still had a role to play in the Weyr even if it wasn't on dragonback.

Alirien couldn't have ignored the Green's hatching if he had wanted to, the sneeze and that whole air of I meant to do that hanging around her so much like the thick of goo and sand clinging to her hide. The Brown's hatching goes unnoticed as it wasn't anything spectacular, but he does note that the little Gold and Bronze finally left that egg alone to get down to business.
And then the Green was headed the way of his section in the boys group. Prepared to step aside, he nearly tripped himself at the sudden voice ringing through his head, sounding extremely happy with herself, and not unlike his younger siblings back home. Mine! Mine! Your Zinth was looking for you! Yours is hungry Mine! Can we eat together?
It takes all of ten seconds, long seconds at that, for Alirien to register that yes, the cheery little green is really speaking to HIM. He fondly shakes his head and reaches out to wipe some of the sand from her snout. "Of course we can eat together Zinth. Your siblings are already over there. We'll have to take care of some of this sand though so it doesn't fall into your food."
He starts walking off toward the tables, absently brushing off bits of sand from Zinth's wings and neck as they go.

Therion's heart was in his throat as he watched the bronze hatchling moving around. Inaari's squeeze got her a slightly-distracted one in return - he was watching the metallic pair with such intensity...he'd always wanted a bronze, so he couldn't help but hope that this one would be his.
And the brown! He couldn't help but think of Lothan. They'd always joked that Loth would be his second, riding a brown...and Ther would have the bronze....a childhood dream. Would it come true today?

The brown didn’t take long to move after he hatched, hurrying to catch up with the bronze. They churred and rumbled to each other as they walked among the boys, almost as if they were comparing notes. With an excited murmur, the brown lifted his head and tilted it towards one group in particular – the bronze followed his gaze and crooned his approval, and congratulations. Then he too found someone and they exchanged another round of chatter before approaching Theirs. To Lothan, the brown bowed and forced his nose into the other’s stomach, You are Mine and I am your Capeth. I am hungry, feed me? He smiled, all nobility and quiet hunger. The bronze, in the meantime, walked tall and proud and also shoved his nose into the nervous stomach of Soldekai. Your Pioth is with you now, Mine. Let’s go far!

Zeren gasped as the Brown and the Bronze Impressed at almost the same time, and had actually seemed to be working together to each find Theirs, he'd known that the Bronze wasn't for him, but he'd hoped for the Brown, now his hopes lay in one of the three unhatched eggs, he sighed a little, so many boys and girls left, so few Dragons to pair to.

...That green didn't want her either, nor the brown. Kleos' heart sank as she watched the young things Impress. All that was left, she supposed, was to hope the young queen chose soon so that it could be over... But no, not over; after that the eggs which hadn't hatched would be opened. Perhaps one of them held an a-typical dragon. Perhaps it wasn't all over yet. Please let it not be over. Let her dragon be out there still, just unable to reach her without assistance. Please.

Wykla nods happily as both bronze and brown found Theirs quickly. That was how it should be shouldn't it? She tilts her head to glance towards the Weyrleaders. They'd probly let the gold choose Hers, but how long would they wait before opening the duds?
