Miyuki's eyes widen, if it was from knowing that one could stop bad people by being taught and that she should be good and work very hard, or if it was from knowing it wasn't the end of the story it was hard to tell.
"It's not? Oh yea! Her family! What happened to them?"

Sir Valdemar chuckled. "Well, the young woman returned to the city," he explained, "and when she arrived there, the queen wanted to talk to her, because she was going to be a hero to the people for getting rid of the bad man. Only when they met ..."
He trailed off and arched one eyebrow at Miyuki to see if she would get the connection.

Miyuki looked, "Something happened when they met?"
She thought about it, it must be something important after all otherwise he wouldn't have trailed off like that.
"Did the Queen know about her family?"

Sir Valdemar winked at her. "Very close," he murmured. "The queen was her family. So she found her family, and she was able to live with them again, just like she had always wanted!"
Earendil chuckled and grinned at Lin. "A very short and censored version of Ninako's story," he murmured. "The real thing was much more violent than that, and not nearly as simple."

"Really? That's so neat!"
Miyuki grinned and tried her best not to bounce, not everyone liked it when she bounced on their knee. It was so exciting that someone could turn out to be related to the person who wanted to thank them.
"I would imagine so," Lin murmured, "But still, it has her excited."

"To be fair," Earendil chuckled softly, "it doesn't take much." He grinned at her, then squeezed her hand and led her into Sir Valdemar's study.
The historian looked up as Earendil and Lin entered, and he smiled widely at them.
"Ah," he murmured, "there you are. Well Miyuki, it looks as if story time is over."

"Over?"
Miyuki turned to see where Sir Valdemar was looking. The sight made her smile brightly as she hopped off of his lap.
"Mummi! Ada! Sir Val-demar was telling me a story about a girl who was lost!"
"So we heard..."

Sir Valdemar blinked when Miyuki called Earendil her ada, but Earendil just grinned at her, his eyes growing warm again.
"So we heard," he told her. "Did you enjoy the story?"
He put one hand on her head and smiled down at her. He felt so blissful right now, he was certain nothing could ruin his mood.

"Uh huh," Miyuki nodded her head.
It was a very neat story, at least to her it was.
"It was really neat! Even better than the stories Long-jiji tells."
"English," Lin reminded Miyuki, "And you're not supposed to call him jiji."
"But Long-jiji said it was okay!"
Lin thought her grandfather was a few screws loose.

Earendil chuckled and ruffled Miyuki's hair affectionately. "Well, maybe this story is better because it's true," he winked at her. "Did Sir Valdemar tell you that part of it?"
True stories always meant more for him. Anything could be made up but for people to actually go through such situations ... well that was a different thing entirely.

Miyuki shook her head and looked to Sir Valdemar for confirmation, "It's true?"
She, of course was highly familiar more with the fairytales.

"Indeed it is," Sir Valdemar nodded. "In fact, the young woman from the story lives here in this very castle."
Earendil chuckled softly. "Would you like to meet her?" he asked her, his eyes sparkling with laughter.

Miyuki's eyes looked so wide as she nodded her head up and down like a bobbing doll.
"Can I? Can I? Please?"
She began hopping from one foot to another.

Earendil chuckled again. "Sure. Your mom has to come and say hi as well, I think." He glanced over at Lin. "Have you had a chance to say hello yet or let her know that you're here?"
Considering that Lin was still carrying their bags, probably not. Kaito still had his bag as well, and Earendil assumed that he hadn't seen his great grandmother either.

Lin shook her head, "I haven't yet, we came straight to your study after arriving."
She couldn't help it, and besides she and Miyuki did really want to see him.
"So we still need to do that."
