"That was sure close....Are you alright Snake?" She crouched down to try and see if she could spot any noticeable wounds amongst the black of his suit. Yet it really didn't help it was dark out and the light she had was the flickering of the fire's blaze.
Taking a momentary glance to her burnt paw, she leaned back till she was sitting down. Her eyes once more lifting to the fire she knew they'd be stuck here unless they could get a sufficient amount of light to take with them back to the shop or wherever was closest. "Looks like we're stuck here for the time being..."

He nodded once more and fell backwards to lie on his back for a moment. Something of this degree was normally no problem for him...but it was just something about the circumstances that made him tired.
In a few moments after he caught his breath he sat up and looked around wondering how they could handle the situation, but when she said it would have been better for them to stay, he nodded in agreement, even though he didn't want to. Still, he proceeded to remove the visor and mask once more as her put his paws to his forehead and smoothed back his tangle of hair.

Letting out a ragged sigh, the vixen collapsed back to a laying position; the comfort of the dirt and rocks on the road left something to be desired. Looking up at the stars, she let her ears twitch and pick up the sounds of the night; not hearing anything out of the ordinary to indicate Hoshi was still around.
"I always wondered...what it would be like to have some great skill; to be important to some greater cause." Kay said aloud in almost a pondering mannor. "Is it worth it, Snake? Given I don't know much about you....but you look like your important and one can't deny your skill..." It was if she was transported into some magical word full of amazement and wonder....but she was still as ordinary as could be. It didn't seem fair at times, yet with action like this she was sure she wasn't made for it.

He moved his arms away from his face to glance at the vixen. He had never found being important worth it. He shook his head quickly and reached for the device on his wrist and began typing quickly. Only seconds later he took it off and handed it to her. The message said: "Sometimes it's fun being on a pedestal high above others, but it gets hot up there, and your constantly expected to be at your best. After a while, all you want is just to be an ordinary person. That' what it feels like"

Flicking her ears as she heard the swift typing of Snake before he extended his arm to hand her the little device, she lifted her torso up and took it from him. Giving it a read, she let out a little 'huh' on her breath; thinking a moment before replying. "Really? I never thought about that....I guess there is pros and cons for both. Did you ever want to quit what you do before you came here..?"

Snake Eyes reached out his hand to retrieve his communicator. As he did he nodded vacantly. Just thinking about Joe brought back memories he had been trying to shake of. While his face showed no expression of this inner pain, the vibes could still be picked up as he became ridged and his eyes seemed to stare off distantly in thought

If she hadn't been so close, it would have been completely possible she would have missed the change in Snake. However she did catch on, feeling a weighted guilt about asking in the first place. "I....I'm sorry. I guess its a sore thought....." Perhaps one of the downfalls of being someone important, you had people who needed you. "....Did you lose people? If you'd rather me just shut up, just shake your head and I wont mention it.."

He looked up with watery eyes and shook his paw telling her it was alright before wiping the premature tears away. It took a lot to get him to show that kind of emotion, but only one such person had tugged at his heart ever since the new guys showed up and took the shining glory everyone thought they deserved. Then of course there was the death of his only 'brother' which he was unfortunate to be the killer. It never occured to him that he had dealt with so much crap. It was a wonder he was even functioning properly. Mentally at least. He took hold of the device again and frantically typed, sniffling a little bit. He handed the object to her. The message read: "It's been tough. Never realized it till now"

Immediately her breath caught in her throat as she didn't hide the look of shock which crossed her face. Biting the inside of her lip as he typed, her heart clenched as for once she was almost afraid if what she would read...but none the less when he handed it back to her she took it tentively. Looking down, it wasn't as bad as she had expected...but it still broke her heart to read it. It wasn't everyday that someone opens up, she knew it all too well....and could only assume it was the same for Snake as well.
Opening her mouth to speak...Kay closed it quickly after, feeling for a breif moment what Snake must have felt; wanting to say something only to have nothing come out. However, almost shyly, she twisted to get onto her fours; slowly taking a seat just behind him as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and put her forehead on his shoulderblade. For once not caring if she'd end up getting flipped by some crazy military/law move...she could only hope her actions would say what words failed to do for comfort.

He watched as she could only manage a silent awe. He wasn't aware he could make someone else speechless either, but he was even more shocked when she walked around him and soon he felt her arms on his shoulders and he head pressing gently on his back. At first he was shocked, but it only took a few seconds for him to accept it.
He lowered his head and put a paw up to touch her arm while his eyes stared blankly at the ground. His mind raced of all the things he had pushed out of his mind. None were more heart breaking than his only love turning away from him while he just stood there and watched. He had always wanted the best for this woman, but he wasn't aware that happiness would be with another. He felt a tear roll down the side of his face, but for some reason his tongue licked it away....Salty....very...salty he thought as he wondered why he did that

In a mild surprise of her own, Kay was glad that he seemed to accept the motion....for at times she knew everyone just needed a hug to let them know someone at least cared. She held on snugly, amazed that her nose picked up the saltiness of his teary eyes....what couldn't this body do?
As much as she hated to admit, she felt her own missing comfort renewed; something she'd missed since coming here. It might not have been family, or her old close friends...but it was enough; and she was thankful. Lifting her head up, she losened the grip on his shoulders but did not move from her seated spot behind him. "You'll be alright...I can just feel it, Snake." She spoke softly, a gentle smile on her face.

He looked up at the fire, feeling her grip loosen. Thinking she was about to let go, he released his paw from her arm and put on one of his legs, letting it appear lifeless and pathetic. He nodded as she spoke and soon felt slightly more comforted. Nothing could change what had happen, but at least he knew that it was better to let feelings out, rather than bottle them up as he was good at doing. He took a deep breath and looked up seeing the moon over head, blazing down upon them. It truly was still early in the evening, but with the moonlight, things had suddenly become more visible

The vixen watched him for a few moments as he recovered from that emotional moment, moving his head up to look at the skies above which has cleared considerably from the semi overcast weather from before. Lifting a paw she stifled a yawn as her erradic sleep patterns from the last few days began to catch up with her body; not sure if she was indeed tired or just suffering from oversleeping.
Rubbing her eyes, she found herself looking up as well...not feeling the need to press further into why he had felt the way he did. "Beautiful...."

He heard her yawn from behind him. He turned his head to see just how sleepy she was. It wouldn't be a good idea to stay put, but if she was tired, then that's a different story. His strategic mind went through plans of action, but unfortunately, his form of communication would be mostly unknown to her, short of using the communicator around his wrist, which could get tedious.
While his mind searched frantically for a solution, her comment caused him to look up once more. He nodded in response, but was still actively thinking away

Letting out a soft sigh, the gentle warm and soothing crackling of the fire was really doing nothing good for the female; reminded of camping trips of old. "Well....the moon will give us a better visualization of our surroundings...but im pretty sure Hoshi will still be able to move around with ease...its not as bright - if he's still around that is." She admitted, having too thought of going to sleep in her cozy bed. Glancing his way, she waited for some kind of input; since she certianly wasn't going to go out alone, or stay alone.
