Talon calmly watched the bird's reaction. He did find it hillarious that the thing was so passive around Nick. Now wasn't the time to laugh. He really wanted out of here now.
Moe understood the creature, though probably only because Nick was being a catalyst for the speech or something fancy like that. The dialect was too foreign for the MRZ to make out. Hell...he hardly knew what Talon said half the time. Moe took a couple pawfuls of hair and started tugging to the right. That only got Talon to tilt his head in that direction, but at least it was a start.
The silver Cuddler peered into the dark, right passage, holding an arm above its eye in an attempt to cut the glare of the torch. It then squelched aloud in thought and started down that path, seeming to whistle.
"Now that's odd. " Talon said about the whistling cuddlefish, choosing to ignore the obviously distraught bird. If the bird didn't want to listen, then it would deal with Nick. Simple... It wasn't his burden to bear. "They can apparently whistle. And I guess we're going that way... "

"good boy..." Nick huffed. Before letting it go she could tighten her grip slightly than suddenly release his skull. They were neat, unless you knew what they were going to be used for. This one would get another purpose in life but it didn't help much as they all looked alike. It was hard to see one as different.
The golden one made a quick whistle noise to its sibling. The cuddlers were great whistlers, it was amusing to get them all together...
Atelius hopped quickly behind Talon where he could be safe from another assault. So he thought. Nick followed behind Talon, this time she opted to try and walk on her own. It was odd hanging off of a soldier...
One turn right and the light at the end of the tunnel could finally be seen. So to speak, the sun seemed to be going down. But there was a nice wind finally. Cold, but better than being stuck at the bottom of GOD knows where.
But it seemed to be too good to get to the end without something happening. Soon those strange click click click noises could be heard. Just like the room with the electrical rods and the water. The hallway rumbled causing some dirt to fall from the ceiling. What now?

Talon ignored the bird, seeing it as an annoyance more than anything else. Didn't want to help him, so must be his enemy. Simple as that.
The duet of whistling, though, was amusing, if not slightly silly considering all that they've been through so far. He didn't mind though. The Cuddler was enjoying himself. Moe chirped along too... Which led Talon to be quite certain he was happy in his ignorant human state of being.
Talon kept an eye on Nick. Why not? It wasn't nice to just randomly leave someone behind after they helped you escape hell... Though, looking back at it, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Worst part really had been the first room... Speaking of first rooms... Talon winced as he saw the glow of light at the end of the tunnel. Too bright!
At least the breeze was chillingly refreshing.
Silver decided to pick up the pace a bit, gurgling and whistling happily, and very curious about this bright world he'd heard about from the older Cuddlers.
Then the world rumbled and started clicking. Talon frowned, though he didn't curse this time. He had enough sense about him to quicken the pace and scan the hallway for anything that could have triggered it... Darn dirt covered stone floors. Whelp! Better late than never.
"Think you can sprint? " He asked, making sure Moe was holding on tight, which the little dino was. If it had knuckles, it'd be white knuckling it.

Rods fell in the hall bbehind them, quickly making their way to the strange group. Once the Rods made it to the fork the suddenly stopped. However, it was at that point the ceiling slowly begun to lower as a stone block begun to rise in front of the only way out.
Nick was about to answer him when the traps begun to spring. "No choice. move." She grunted and motioned for Talon to start running. She than gathered every ounce of strength she had left and forced herself to a sprint. It was comparable to that feeling one gets while trying to run in their sleep, but their legs seem to be made of cement.
The Seeker spread its wings than hopped above the two in flight. It bolted toward the door in a brilliant flash of light, ans spite from those who couldn't do such a thing.

Moe yelped as Talon took off at a dead sprint to get out. Walls closing in and what not really did a great job to motivate someone to run. And Talon really hated running right now. Something heavy on his head tugging on his hair really was distracting when there was a door and a ceiling closing in. Though, Talon did manage to swipe up Silver there no problem.
The little cuddler gave a squeak and clung on to Talon's arm, and blubbled obscenities at the flyer for making its torch bearer status obsolete. Priorities!
The door was closing... Seriously, these guys thought of everything! EVERYTHING! At least there wasn't a boulder rolling after them to make it worse. That probably happened after the ceiling came down. You know, extra sure that no one escapes alive.
Talon did make it out... It was only a good hundred meters run. Though, right now he was more concerned with whether Nick made it out or not. And he was grateful that the sun was setting... A bright glare on the sand and he would probably have cursed the Gods of Zi for their cruel sense of humor and forgone the vital pocket check and person check... Speaking of persons... He looked to the sky for any sign of carrion birds, be them metallic or organic. Atelius had to be around somewhere.

Nick had fallen behind Talon a bit once the race had really stated. She watched as the Talon mobile, all passengers included, made it through the door safely. It would have been so much easier to just fall down and let the floor and ceiling smash her completely. No more having to put up with the Judge or Jury, no more pain, just the welcomed flatness of death.
A frown creased Nick's brow. It would have been easier, but the thought was in no way relieving. She didn't want to die here, she didn't want to die at all. Not yet. If she died the contract was forfeit and Titus would be a new target.
One last effort and Nick leapt through the door, just before it became too small for any human to get through. The golden cuddler was by now practically flat against Nick's arm. Lucky for her it had a better time controlling its ink...
Her landing was none to graceful, but GOD did it feel good to be laying down. She looked back at the colossal canyon wall behind them just as the door smashed shut. From the outside it didn't look like a temple of death. Well part of it anyways. Most of it was further under ground...
Atelius circled above than made a dive back down to earth when Nick appeared out of the door.
The golden cuddler made a strange bubbly noise than worked to detach itself from the arm.

Talon blinked at Nick as she lay prone on the ground. Moe released its grip and tumbled to the ground, landing in a ball before bounding over to the woman in mild curiosity. Never mind that it had just almost been killed several times, why the human was laying down was important now.
The cuddler on the other hand was off and about curiously inspecting rocks and dirt. Occasionally blasting them with its lasers to satisfy its curiosity on the solidity.
He, Talon, let them roam and figured now would be a good time to sit down and actually take bearing of where they were now. He figured Nick would wander off somewhere, and that was fine by him. It didn't look like they traveled all to far from his starting point. Then again, the canyon looked the same from any angle you looked at it save for above.
It was then that he got a brilliant idea...the bird could fly, right? Eh, he'd ask later if the bird saw a giant green thing that wasn't a tree nearby. For now a nice sit and time to gather his thoughts...and ignore the scary masked lady that seemed to be kinda haunting.

Atelius purposely made his landing on the other side of Nick, away from Talon. It was also at the same time he made his landing that Nick was able to come to a seated position, which still felt much better than running. She placed her right hand on the seeker's head, gently this time, than gave it a pat. Atelius made a strange coo/screeching noise than nodded.
The next moment Atelius was in the air and double back the way the group had come, only this time he would get an aerial view of the temple. It was practically invisible... Most of it was underground and hidden well by the canyon itself. Cleaver ancients.
Nick scoot herself back a little so she was closer to Talon. She than let out a long sigh. It was over for him, but there was still one more temple she had to shift through... Hopefully just one more.
"Atelius will find 'Tyrant' and bring him here..." She glanced over to Talon. How she knew what ZOID was exactly the same way she knew his full name and a bit of his past. The Iron Judge might have been the one that pried, but she still had access to that knowledge. "He'll be following you after I leave as well. It will keep the Jury off of your back... At least for a while."
Nick than watched a moment as the golden Cuddler hopped off from her arm than scoot back to the canyon wall, where the door had sealed moments before. She looked back at Talon before she spoke again. "... Thank you for helping me back there."
A thanks was well deserved for this Soldier. He had been amusing company for one and willing to help her despite having seen her 'nightmare'. Now if only this soldier and the other he saw would be on a team, that would be a force to recon with... Two of the Empire's finest. In her opinion in any case. She had not meet such when she served. Not even the general was as honorable as they had claimed.

Moe squeaked as a dirt clod started to move. Just a desert beetle wanting to move from the large objects that nearly smashed it earlier. The little dino cooed in curiosity and batted at it once, paused with an arm up, watched the little thing scuttle around, and chased after it. It ran in circles around the group.
Talon had sat down in the shade provided by the canyon's walls, observing the woman. Seriously, he had nothing to say right now. His companion was chasing a bug, there was a cuttlefish currently blasting small pebbles and leaving ink spots on the ground when startled by a small scorpion or spider...and a bird that apprently wasn't too keen on him. He couldn't blame the bird. It was lucky Talon didn't have a firearm on him. Annoying buzzard.
He started looking to the sky, following the bird with his eyes and getting distracted by the colors of the soft, dry looking clouds. Was it really that late? Huh... Command would be worried. He blinked from the sky and nodded at Nick, deciding it would be best to ignore that she knew his Zoid. Though, he did give a frown at the knowledge the bird would be following him. Fantastic... bad enough he'd have to explain the cuttlefish to his superiors, but now a carrion bird? Hopefully it was smart enough to keep out of the way. "Understood. "
The detatching and retreating cuddler for a moment facinated Talon. He wondered why the creature was leaving now... Probably to return to the cool and lax pools of the deep underground where it lived. He heard her thanks and shrugged his shoulders. "Your welcome. T' least I could do. " He didn't think she should be thanking him for that. After all, Nick had practically dragged him through the entire temple. It was the least he could to to repay her for not killing him when she had the chance several times over and then some.
For now, he would wait for Tyrant to show up, since moving would be stupid. And once Tyrant was here, he'd be able to mark it on his map to never return here. Or at least stick to the upper portion and bring heavy rocks to test the floors, doors, and walls with.

As Zutnic was instructed to stay out of sight, so was Atelius. It would be very incontinent if the rest of the military got their hands on them and begun to experiment or even send them to Dr. Fox. The power behind these little creatures was unfathomable, even for the Doctor. Even the soldiers they were entrusted to protect were and hopefully would remain unaware.
"He'll remain hidden, and like wise don't tell anyone about what you saw... it would endanger them..." Nick looked over the sands, watching for any sign of the Jury's approach. She had not yet signaled for it to come, but it knew every feeling she had and knew the moment she exited the temple. Luckily, there was no sign or feeling of his approach just yet.
Atelius would send signals of Talon's to the ZOID once it was spotted. It would keep itself up in the air while signaling and showed no signs of lowering to perch on the ZOID. Atelius would fly slightly ahead for further guidance for Tyrant.

Talon snickered softly and kept staring up at the sky and clouds. "No one would believe me anyways. " he said, then he would trail off into silence to wait for the familiar thud and whir of the Tyrant.
Surprisingly, Tyrant was quite cooperative with the screeching flying thing. The only physical annoyance was the talons on his feet kept hitting the ground as it thought about what was being said to him. Stay here and wait like ordered, or go check this new thing out.
After all, it had seen the mass exodus of the birds from the cliff not too long ago, so there had to be some truth to it all hullabaloo about hidden chambers and tentacle monsters. The Tyrant let out a hiss and followed after Atelius, moving quite quickly to get to its pilot and its little friend Moe.
Spotting the short squishy, the Green Tyrant let out a long, loud, and happy roar, and sped up only to stop a few feet before its talons would skewer its friend. The optics would then realize that there was a thing with many arms touching its foot. It peered at the cuttlefish and grunted, looking to Talon for advice. Talon just shrugged and said, "Let's go. I'll explain on the way home...at least you'll believe me... Probably..Don't eject me at least. Its coming with us. "
The Cuddler squelched and made a bubbling noise. Somehow it crossed the sand really quickly and crawled up to perch on Talon's arm. Two legged fleshies made great steads. 'Onward, fair beast of burden! We have folks to save!' it seemed to say as it pointed towards the horizon. That or, ' OMG! LOOK! A BIRD!'.
The Tyrant found it odd, but then again, not as odd as the woman that was also nearby. It peered at her for a moment, seeming to frown in unsure dislike, but figured now was not the time to deal with her, it, whatever the human was. Looked female... or what he'd been told female was according to the human recognition programs.
Eventually, after Talon started cursing at the rapter that they really should get moving sometime before the moon rose, the Tyrant lowered its head to let its Pilot, Moe, and whatever that thing was in. The hatch would close with a hiss, then the dinosaur would raise its head and look about.
It located the flyer with little difficulty. Tyrant knew its purpose and accepted it. In fact, the Seeker wasn't so bad. At least it was honest about why it was helping them. The Rapter gazed at Nick for a moment or two, trying to figure out if it should trust her, then it ran off after the Seeker--and eventually back to Base where it would happily shut down for some rest.

Nick kept silent as the Raptor approached. The golden cuddler had burrowed into the sands, no doubt to re-join the rest of its group wherever. As Talon climbed safely into the cockpit Nick leaned back against the rock and closed her eyes.
Strikers, Seekers, and next... The thought was none to pleasant.
Once they were gone Nick let out a deep sigh. They were lucky that temple had not proven to be as complicated as they had thought. Perhaps the maze would have come if they had chosen another room? It was irrelevant. They were out and not going back. As for the strange cuddlers... they were curious. Perhaps 'it' knew what they were.
After an hour of sitting alone the black fog begun to creep its way over the horizon. The Jury had finally arrived. Nick got to her feet as she waited for it to approach than snatch her away back to 'home' than after that, the final artifact.
