xd Yeah, but then again, I don't have much competition! I play oboe, and there's only one other person in my section sweatdrop we have chair auditions in a few days (or something like that; I'm going into 8th and school started today). But I'm so much better than him. And that's saying something! when we first started out, he kicked my a**. Now i kick his.
EDIT: The other kid quit. Now I'm the only oboe in the band sweatdrop And since there's only one of me, the BD keeps forgetting to have me play something (like when he asks the other sections to play something, one sec. at a time). We have a bassoon, but at least she has a large insturment, so BD actually remembers her. But no, I look too much like a clairnet xd

not to try and sound big headed but yeah. first chair with the solos and stuff. i take the sectionals. etc

I play tuba, so therefore it isnt hard to be the best in the section as its just me biggrin But my conductor complements me as being a good bass nether-the-less.. Which makes me strive to keep those compliments.

Unonamous I just wanted to know how many people are going to the same thing I'm going through.Everyone complimenting you, always telling you you're the best and your band directors always expecting more out of you. I mean I'm only a freshman I've not had as much musical experience as much as the only trumpets in my section. I am actually an equal to everybody in my section....its weird...we all consider each ther equal...'cause we play about the same level...the BD thinks i'm better though...cause he gives me the solo...but we are equal.

I'm far from being the best since the three senior trumpets are like...amazing. But they graduate this year crying .

I'm the best in my section, but that's not saying much because I play tenor sax. The only other person who plays it in my band is a freshman, and that's just for marching band. She switches to bassoon in concert band.

Far from it. The guy who's first chair in my band plays the trumpet like an angel. But I'm still pretty good, at least good enough to proud of myself for what I've accomplished.

IM IN A 7TH GRADE SYMPHONIC BAND AND I PLAY TRUMPET.I SAY IM THE BEST FOR THE TRMPET SECTION IN MY SCHOOL.I ALWAYS GET FRIST TRUMPET,ALWAYS IS ASKED TO TUTOR THE OTHERS AND I AM A QUICK LEARNER WHEN IT COMES TO NEW SONGS

i sat almost last chair last year as a freshmen because i had braces i got them off and now i can play alot better, in fact i am first chair flute. im alot better than i was but i still have a hard time with some things. last week we were playing a new peice we were getting ready to read it for the first time and it was a really hard song and right before we started the director was like this starts with a flute solo. and it wasnt one of those solos where one instrumen plays over the rest of the band, it was JUST ME. i totaly messed it up redface

Im not the best. I just happen to be 1st chair because Im practically the only one who play in my section of 2 trumpets. Yes, my band is small, but we still get the job done. Anyways, I screw up on a few songs, and my director expects way too much from me. The other trumpet player barely plays, and when he does, it's very quietly, or only for one or two measures before he quits playing the song completely.
But I do get compliments here and there from the flute section at least.

i play flute in my band.there is me and this other dude.my director says im the best and nevr wants me leave.i was joking one day wit him saying i was going to quit.next day on our game day he goes why do you want to quit.i bursted out laughing i said i was just kidding that i wasn tgoing to.i cant believe he believed me.it was so funny bc he was like well i need yo uin this band.your the best flute we got here.
