i graduated this year but the band marching music was played a little bit before the seniors left and they're going to be playing songs from the 60's and 70's mostly. most of the songs i had never heard of before. like Maneater

I believe the theme this year is swan lake, although I'm not sure.

(incoming Freshmen)

I do know they were considering Robin Hood, but I think they trashed that idea.

Nate is so weird and artsy so we of course are doing music by this dude we've never heard of, all of which have virtually unpronouncable names, and then an original composition. Im going to so love hearing the announcers try to say the names. xd Its hard enought with our weirdly-named techs. xd

Last year, we did a show called Power and Grace which was a show that combined Stravinsky's Firebird and Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. Absolutely gorgeous and beautiful show. Hands down, my favorite.

This year, we're keeping with the orchestral pieces turned marching band show by playing a show called Night on Bald Mountain. It seems pretty cool.

My school really enjoys its movies.

Last year, we did POC and then Confrontation and Finale - something some professional marching group did.

This year, we're taking some music from The Hunt for Red October along with some Shostakovitch.

I'm an incoming Freshman but i think our theme is joy or something like that. I am completely jealous of people in this thread, mainly because ours stinks extremely bad and wouldn't be able to play half of that if they got everything they needed to be able to perform and play it.

Our first show's theme for the season is Earth, Wind, and Fire. The only disappointing thing about it is that the music is pretty easy.....

the show is called lunar phases. and its basically just classical music because "it will make to judges like us more." THUMBS DOWN.

Last year, my marching band theme was Dante's Inferno. This year it's called Tempered Steel. I have the mp3 and music to practice for it. whee Can't wait for Band Camp!

last year we did a show called Gangsta Jazz. loved it even though we didn't have nearly the power to play it.

Then again we're still a smallish band (85 people maybe) and this year's show is past drum core music from Madison Scouts and Blue Devils ;_;

Last year our theam was "Edge of Your Seat" the music was based off of alfred hitchcock movies (loved that show!). This year's theam is "Mind Games," (the idea came from a story of a guy who's past memories were mixing with the present and he slowly lost his sanity) The music is filled with complex rhythms and dissonant chords, but it sounds amazing! I can't wait for the drill (it'll probbaly have lots of cross throughs and circles ^_^)

Our show this year is going to be similar to the Santa Clara Vanguard's 2004 show "Scheherezade". It's going to be pretty awesome if we can manage to put a concert piece on the field without it sounding thin like high schools in the past have, but I'm pretty sure we can manage it... Hopefully sweatdrop
