Finding all the information interesting, she closed her eyes near the end and stood up from the chair. The screen faded as she did so, and she grinned. Well. This room was getting to be too much for her to handle. Time to leave. She entered the kitchen like area, and found a couch. She leaped over the top, and sat down wearily.
(OOC: Sorry. Lack of inspiration xD I really did read that entire thing tho', you're a good writer, lady~)

((Aaa! Floob! That's no good at all. Keep those fluids up! Small, slow sips -- if you don't you'll end up even more sick! Er... I'd give you a "get well soon" hug, but... er... you're sick. Bah! *Get-well-soon-hugs*
*Blushes* Thanks, Sayurie ^^
Thrudd: I think I know the cards... We used a pack to try to play Cripple Mr Onion, which requires eight suits. I forget what they're called, but the suits are determined by color, rather than symbol... right? ))

((something similar but not quite ... anyone ever read Tarot by Piers Anthony? These are a slight variation I have used in the past, anyhow four colours plus black and white. Yes symbols for each suit. Think earth air fire water positive negative. Regent Oracle Magician Knight Monk - the jesters are of each and none. Hope that helps for those interested on the subject. Now nobody else get sick - or sicker - bleah .... ))
Snap paused for a moment, seeming to weigh his answer and comming to a decision before responding.
These are something from one of the worlds I called home for a time. Their roots are very different from the ones you may know of. To answer the first part of that question.
Snap then snapped one card into the air vertically with a powerful backspin so that it went straight up and straight down with that familiar whistle, the corner of the card piercing the surface of the table with barely a quiver. Snap then smoothly extracted the card from the table surface and shuffled it back in with the rest in one smoth mothion.
If you are interested I can show you some of the basics of card play. The rest is up to you. It would be a useful survival skill for one lacking in life experience.
Though his face betrayed nothing the tone of his voice seemed to convey something like a feeling of cameraderie so lacking up till now.

[Sorry I didn't warn anyone about my absence, I didn't really have a chance...]
Hewitt followed the card's swift path with his gaze, categorizing the information about the cards in a "Seemingly Trivial But Probably Not Entirely Useless" section of his memory.
He glanced up at Snap, trying to see if the man conveyed any of the undertones in his voice through his expression. Apparently not.
"I would like that, thank you." The corners of Hewitt's mouth twitched into a little smile, the kind that kids give you when they decide that you aren't as frightening as they thought.

The moment was interrupted, as, with a soft chime, the door sighed open to admit a tall, slender young woman. The skin left bare by her white singlet-top and black shorts was partly scaled, and her long blonde pony-tail had the hazy look of fine feathers rather than hair. Those who had logged in to their computers would instantly recognise her as the talking head in the welcome programme: Nixie.
"Good morning -- or at least, I think it must be morning -- Psi-8," she intoned, a cheerful veneer covering profound tiredness. "I am, correctly, 15559-8785-4691-D, but better known as Nixie. No, that is not an android serial number, it is a lab test code. I am head of intelligence here at the Tower, and some of you might find yourselves working more closely with my department later on. For now, though, I am here to escort you to meet the Towermaster, Caleb T'au." She paused a moment, then added, "You will leave any weapons here. You will not be needing them. Caleb is likely to take it as a personal insult, and may leave you to the lower level gangs. Not a course I'd recommend."

Alastor, being right close to the lady speaking, nodded. He happilly followed orders from people he felt he could trust. He took a hand gun from his pocket, and laid his large, shotgun-like "Cannon" from his back, on to the nearby table. He then used one hand to point at his jacket, and asked her. "My main weapon is INSIDE this jacket, and I can't exactly...Remove it. Shall I leave the jacket here?" He asked, in a polite manner not shown before to any of his so called house mates. Mainly because he hadn't talked to any of them, though he, and most likely they, knew he wouldn't be too polite to them.

Hewitt hopped off the chair, and, having no weapons on his person, padded over in bare feet to join the small group already assembled near the door.
[Nothing much to say...plus I'm completely exhausted. x_x]

(OOC: Sorry. D: I forgot about this for a brief period of time.)
Arien looked over Nixie, the person she'd seen at the computer. She picked up the small weapon from it's holster, and threw it in her room, on her bed. If anyone stole it, oh well. They wouldn't be able to use it, anyway. Then she waited for instructions, feeling a bit tired, still.

As Arien slouched toard her, looking a little dopey, Nixie, who had been rubbing her eyes, gave her a sympathetic look. Her attention was quickly distracted by Alastor.
"My main weapon is INSIDE this jacket," he explained, having already discarded his two other weapons, "and I can't exactly remove it. Shall I leave the jacket here?"
Nixie nodded. "I've heard about that. A rather uncommon choice, but I doubt you'd be here if you were the type to go for the common and obvious. Yes, please leave it here."
Her gaze drifted to Hewitt, who had padded over to her. "Another lab kid," she smiled, with a certain degree of tenderness. "There's a handful of us around." Her brow creased delicately. "Are you sure you don't want to put some shoes on...?" she asked. Her tone, while not patronising, definitely conveyed the sense of a concerned carer.
"Snap, isn't it," she asked, shifting her gaze. Of all of them, Snap would have been the most likely to note the way she had positioned herself when she entered: regardless of who she was actually looking at, she was able to watch the whole group. "I am going to have to ask you to leave the cards as well. Maybe I am over-reacting, but that slice in the table does not fill me with confidence." She waited for him to either protest or comply.
((Vah, not the best I've ever written... >.< sorry. ))

Hewitt nodded and returned the smile at Nixie, then glanced down at his feet. "Oh yes. I usually don't, but I suppose it would be a good idea." He trotted back to his room, shutting the door behind him. His sandals lay next to the chair. They were mostly leather straps, and were made to wrap around the calves in order to stay on. Hewitt put them on quickly, then rejoined the group at the door.

Alastor gave a small nod and removed his jacket, then walked next to her, tapping his foot slightly at the ground, waiting to leave. It seemed like things were finally geting interesting around here. He was intrigued by the complexity of this place, and wanted to find out more. It seemed this lady knew lots about the area, so it was best to trust her.

"I am going to have to ask you to leave the cards as well. Maybe I am over-reacting, but that slice in the table does not fill me with confidence." She waited for him to either protest or comply.
At those words Snap only smiled. It was an unexpectedly surprising smile like that of an ebon Cheshire cat grinning at some joke only known to themselves. He smoothly reached into one of the pockets of his coat and withdrew the offending deck between index and forefinger and sent it spinning lightly towards Nixie.
With a neutral tone and a soft almost grey voice; "If you like, we could discuss the finer points of card play at your convenience at some latter date."
That said he doffed the coat onto the seat of the chair he had vacated leaving him in his high soft boots, multipocketed body suit complemented by the welders goggles and arm bracers all in a dull black. His body language seemed to emote quite acquiescence but Nixie was able to discern the more subtle message of Truce / Acknowledgement / Honoured Host. The action of removing the coat openly conveyed leaving behind an unspecified arsenel.
[when Nixie latter on inspects the cards she finds that the worst they could normally do is give someone a bad paper cut with a lot of trying. Seems the card trick was more for show to whomever was watching]
((yeah ... lets get this show on the road and get down and boogy ... just wait and see what I can do with chopsticks .... I know so many clice moves I scare me ... ))

She stood up straight now, stretching out and yawning as softly as she could. Suddenly it occured to her, she didn't know to who she was supposed to be meeting, where she was supposed to be going, or how she should act. Arien let out a sigh of air, aggitated, watching everyone else shuffle about.
